Reading in the time of COVID-19
I've suddenly had a lot of free time in my times and I've used most of it to watch as many of the anime on Netflix. There a plenty of great series to be had, a few of them sublime, although it does have a couple of disappointments, but I've been trying to avoid those based on reviews I found online. One of those great stories is The Rising of the Shield Hero.
The first season ended on a good note, but I've craved for more, this is where I found this book.
I've suddenly had a lot of free time in my times and I've used most of it to watch as many of the anime on Netflix. I have been reading plenty of Isekais lately and this one is about a underated tank looked down upon and framed as a rapist, murderer, evildoer by his allies and those that summoned him. Its pretty much to the point, where the main character has to go through many obstacles and handicaps with the help of people that get to know him and believe in him seeing the kind person he is deep down. There isn't any fan service which is nice and the first female main character is one that truly develops into her own more than others.
Do I recommend it:

Vi prego qualcuno faccia fuori quella piaga di Rishia e i suoi stupidi versi...mettetele un bavaglio o qualcosa...non ce la faccio più...
Quella tizia ha seri problemi...sul serio le piace fare la furry? Sai quanti ceffoni ti dovrebbe dare Naofumi? Magari ti fa rinsavire...
Comunque peccato che tutta questa parte degli allenamenti sia stata modificata o del tutto eliminata nell'anime...che peccato.

Zwei neue außergewöhnliche Mitglieder. Ich bin ja mal gespannt, wie schnell Keel groß wird. Neue interessante Figuren tauchen auf, vor allem die Mysteriöse interessiert mich. Welch Überraschung.

Wenn Rishia ein Tierkostüm trägt, bemerkt niemand wenn sie deprimiert ist? Sie trägt das ständig also wie oft ist sie deprimmiert? Sicher, in einer Welt wie dieser könnten Kostüme mit speziellen Fähigkeiten nützlich sein aber es gibt keinen Hinweis darauf, dass dies hier der Fall ist. Rishia ist seltsamer als das Konzept, dass Sklaven und Monster die mit Naofumi zusammenarbeiten mehr Erfahrungspunkte erhalten, das ist wirklich ein seltsames Konzept. Und wenn Rishia den Kämpfen hier mit den Augen vollen kann, warum wurde sie jemals als schwach angesehen? Vor allem da sie sehr vielseitig im Falle von Magie ist.
Der Zeichenstil hier ist nachwievor gut, man konnte bei Eclaire direkt sehen, wie enttäuscht sie war, als der Held des Schwertes so einfach besiegt wurde. Was much fragen lässt, was die anderen drei Helden die ganze Zeit gemacht haben um immer noch so schwach zu sein. Hatten sie keine echten Herausforderungen oder ist das nur schlechtes Erzählen? Wurden sie vom König so verhätschelt? Vor allem Moyotamasu (oder wie auch immer er heißt) ist besonders geschockt davon, die müssen ja ständig angehimmelt worden sein.
Zum Glück ist die Königin da und bringt vieles wieder auf die richtige Bahn.

When Rishia wears an animal costume, does nobody notice when she is depressed? She wears this all the time so how often is she depressed? Sure, in a world like this, special skill costumes could be useful, but there's no indication that this is the case here. Rishia is stranger than the concept that slaves and monsters working with Naofumi get more experience points, it's a strange concept really. And if Rishia can see the struggles here, why was she ever considered weak? Especially since it is very versatile in the case of magic.
The drawing style here is still good, you could see at Eclaire how disappointed she was when the hero of the sword was so easily defeated. Which makes me wonder what the other three heroes were doing all the time to still be so weak. Didn't they have any real challenges or is that just bad storytelling? Were they so pampered by the king? Moyotamasu in particular (or whatever his name is) is particularly shocked by it, they must have been adored all the time.
Fortunately, the Queen is there and brings many things back on track.

Finalmente il fantasy gdr su carta nascosto tra le pagine di The Rising Of The Shield Hero torna a farsi sentire, confezionando un volume che riporta a galla la voglia di leggere questa avventura. Dopo alcuni volumi non proprio al top, in questo dodicesimo numero finalmente si torna a coltivare la curiosità nel lettore, mettendo diversi stimoli e, soprattutto, sottolineando l'avanzamento tecnico dei protagonisti.
Finalmente il comparto da gioco di ruolo torna ad essere forte, riempendo queste pagine e facendo sentire il lettore all'interno della narrazione, seppur non sempre nel modo più originale possibile. Abbiamo infatti alcune scene che sanno di già visto e già letto, molto stereotipate, ma in generale sono in linea con l'opera nel suo complesso.
Speriamo che questo numero sia il primo di una serie che riporta sulla carreggiata quest'opera, e soprattutto che i siparietti sulla costante poca collaborazione degli altri eroi finiscano presto, in quanto anche i personaggi all'interno del volume sono decisi a non volerne più sapere di questa costanza ed eccessiva spavalderia degli altri tre eroi.
Speriamo che l'opera continui su questi cardini. Le premesse per rendere coinvolgenti i prossimi volumi ci sono tutti.
