About the author

Parijat was a Nepalese writer. Her real name was Bishnu Kumari Waiba but she wrote under the pen name Parijat. Her most acclaimed publication is Shiris Ko Phool (The Blue Mimosa), which has also been adapted in the literature curriculum of some colleges in some English-speaking countries like United States, England etc.

And I asked to myself, देश भनेको के हो?, के मैले देश भोगेको छु? अनि २३ वर्षको ऊसले र २३ वर्षको मैले देखेको देश कति धेरै फरक तर पनि उस्तै छन् केहि यथार्थहरूआझ पनि।

Even after more than five decades since the book was published, we are still fighting, as it is about to be a year of Gen-Z movement, and recent news of back-to-back self-immolation bringing the desperation of people into public view, I found myself reading Parijat’s words with a different kind of unease.

The circumstances are different. The language of resistance is different. The generation is different. And yet, some of the questions remain stubbornly familiar.

I am not sure what went wrong, book is pretty small still i had to left reading this book mid-way. It didn't go well right from the start. Couldn't understand the characters and their conversations. Leaving rating blank, as I will re-read this in again someday in future.
