Dead and Gone
You ever have an out of body experience? Like one of those moments where you’re standing on a street corner watching yourself do something monumentally stupid? Something you know you shouldn’t do but you just can’t help yourself?
Three weeks ago, Trent and I were deep into the Honeymoon stage of love, I swore I wouldn’t be the first one to rock the boat—Lord knows with our two Irish tempers it would happen soon enough—so when he made me promise to keep my nose and our grandmothers out of his investigation I did.
It didn’t hurt that his head was buried between my legs at the time either. But then Daisy called me begging for help and what kind of bestie would I be if I shut the door in her face? That’s right, a shitty one. So I packed up our grandmothers and their gogo boots, g-strings and pasties to get to the bottom of things. Only problem is if Trent catches us I’ll be dead meat, folks.

I didn't realize this was part of a series until I was halfway through chapter 1. It didn't take me long to catch up from the previous book. This book can be read as a standalone--I did and completely adored--loved...any any other adjectives along those lines. I laughed so hard I cried!! This book will be added to my re-read list! I don't buy many of the ARCs, I receive but this is one I am buying along with book 1. I have to hear more about how Shelby and Trent evolved into a couple from being on and off again. Here they are definitely together. It's terrific! Trent's negotiating skills with Shelby made me laugh and swoon at the same time. They are a perfect couple.
Shelby Whitmore is a journalist for San Diego Metro News for Uncle Sal. She spends her freetime with her grandmother, and Marla (her grandmother's best friend and Trent's grandmother), along with her new best friend Daisy (a former call girl). Daisy's friends from her former life are coming up missing and then dead. Daisy enlists Shelby and the two grandmothers for help. How can Shelby say no to her best friend? Even if Trent makes her promise not to interfere with his investigation, she can't leave her friend high and dry, right?
Honestly, how could she say no to Trent and his sexual negotiating skills?
Trent almost lost her once, he doesn't want it to happen again. He will do whatever it takes to protect the woman he loves.

Dead and Gone by Jennifer Rebecca is the second book in her Funerals and Obituaries series. Hang on to your hats, people! Shelby, Trent, the grandmas and the rest of the gang are back for more shenanigans, and of course, another mystery to solve!
We first meet Shelby and Trent and the gang in book one, Dead and Buried. Shelby’s and Trent’s grandmas are BFFs. And slightly crazy...but who doesn’t love crazy grannies?? They certainly keep you laughing and make life a lot more interesting! So when strippers are turning up dead, they convince Shelby to go undercover. Let the games begin!
While you can read this book as a standalone, you won’t get the full experience that is all the characters if you miss Dead and Buried. And truly...you don’t want to miss out on these characters at. ALL! Despite the fact that this is technically a romantic suspense novel, there is no shortage of hilarity woven throughout the book. It’s truly a LOL (laughing out loud) experience. I kind of adore Jennifer Rebecca’s humor and humorous one-liners! And this time around, I did NOT guess the whodunnit as I did with the Claire Goodnite series.

Just like book 1 this book left me in stitches. Trent and Shelby are beyond funny, mix their crazy grandmothers in the mix things get chaotic as usual lol. Where there is a problem to solve you can make a bet that Shelby will get dragged into it by both grandmothers, even when Trent is less than pleased with it. When a prostitute ends up dead and another friend missing Shelby and her troop once again start investigating on their own, and the chaos starts right from the beginning. There is nothing left out from skimpy outfits, strip club, glitter, geriatric yoga to dildo slinging grandmas. I laughed hysterically from the first page to the last. There is just no stopping these women, much to Trent's headache.
I have been waiting patiently for this book to be released and Jennifer Rebecca once again delivers a rom com at its best. I highly recommend this series if you need a great laugh. Awesome book!

What's not to love about a hilarious couple, their BFF crazy grannies and some romantic suspense?
There's so much going on here it's hard not to spoil anything. This story is the second in the series, but can be read as standalone if you happen to pick it up before Dead and Buried.
Trent and Shelby are a pair, in every single way. When some strippers start showing up dead, Shelby promises a friend to help figure out what's happening, despite her boyfriend expressly advising she keep her nose out of it. Hilarious adventures ensue!
Just so good! If you need something a little different from the everyday, start here! (Though I would strongly suggest starting with Dead and Buried because it's fantastic too!)

Jennifer Rebecca has quickly become one of my favorite authors to wile away a few hours. Despite this being a romantic suspense book, it really is a racous romantic comedy with suspense thrown in. Generally my expectation of a good romantic comedy is to make smile and chuckle a few times, it's pretty tough to make me laugh out loud but Jennifer Rebecca ups the ante. In the middle of this book, I was laughing so hard tears were ruining my makeup as I tried to explain farting yoga and Big Thunder weapons to my boyfriend, who eventually started laughing at my inability to STOP laughing. I absolutely love Trent and Shelby but the darling octogenarian detectives in this series are some of the funniest shit I've read in forever! Can't wait for the next one!
