Trust was a liberty that as Kumari, Bae could not afford, especially after the murder of Bae’s mother, the late Kumari. The Kumari bloodline must be continued regardless of the cost, even if it was the life of someone she loves. There were only two things that a Kumari should trust; magic and her seven mates. The race was on for Bae to find and claim her seven mates before she would have to defend her realm from an unknown enemy. With them, she still might not win but alone she would definitely fail.
Book One in Kumari's Kitsune: A Reverse Harem Series
Hanleigh is a USA Today Bestselling Author and is about as English as it's possible to be, without actually being English.
She first fell in love with books as a child reading Dr Seuss, but moved onto romance when she first read Pride and Prejudice at the age of twelve. She wishes she could live inside the world inside her mind, but since that isn't possible she puts pen to paper and shares that world with her readers instead.
The cover in no way reflects the contents and storyline of this novel. Whereas the cover looks like a whimsical fantasy fairytale, the book encompasses a land of diversity. The world in the novel includes tribes covering telepaths, warriors, academics, and more. The plotline starts to gain more complexity by the finish of this first novel, and I’m pretty peeved that I can’t find any indication anywhere suggesting when the next book will be released, so, I guess I’ll never get to see book two.
There is some amazing world building going on here!!! We get a complex world full of characters to both love and hate. Add in some magic, protocol, and an adorable kitsune to get a book you won't want to stop reading. Cliff hanger ending that makes me want book two now not later. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
In any other story, Bae could have been an ordinary princess, but she was far from ordinary--a product of both magic and prophecy. In a short amount of time, Bae was able to find not one, but two of her eventual seven mates, but she also found herself facing a horrific mystery, one that threatened not only her crown, but her life, and her kingdom as well. Hanleigh’s gift as an author shone for me, a fantasy fan without necessarily a penchant for romance, by balancing the intimate moments amongst the moments of very real emotions in those around Bae, namely her mates and certain members of her family—fear, anger, and a rather understandable jealousy. I found Hanleigh’s use of a sentient magic wholly original and refreshingly new. I thought about giving 5 stars, but the one weakness in the story reduced it to 4.99 stars. That being that just as we get to the most exciting part of the story… It ends. Except for making me wait for the next installment... Well done!
I will be the first to admit that when I started this book, I soon realised it was nothing like any of the other books I’ve read by Hanleigh. But that’s what made it so good.
An intriguing read full of suspense, mystery and romance, it was a book I could not put down.
The bravery of Bae is astounding.
And although it ended with a cliffhanger, not my favourite of endings, I will sit here anxiously waiting for the next book.

What a great start to a new series! With a great storyline that caught me from the beginning and held my interest throughout. It’s exciting and full of drama. The characters are great, I love Bae she is sweet but with a feistiness that she uses to stand up for herself. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and cannot wait for the next book
Bae lost her mother who was Kumari and now its left to her to keep the family tradition going. Bae is travelling to different parts of the land in search of her seven mates, she finds herself making some hard decisions and her emotions/power are getting stronger. Bae finds two of her mates but how will they all feel when she picks her others and with the jealousy going on how will they all live in harmony ?????? What will happen with the threats not only to her but her kingdom ??????.
It's weird. I remember getting this book a very long time ago and then, since it's an e-book, I forgot that I had it. Until a couple of weeks ago. For a giveaway I could giveaway a book and I discovered that this book was one of the options. The concept sounded so cool! I almost wanted to have the book myself! And then I discovered that I already had it. So, lesson learned: I marked it very clearly so I could find it back.
And today was the perfect day to finally get to this book! Let me start with saying that it's a very easy read. The sentences are quite simple and although at times I would have loved a little more descriptions and details, it also made that I flew through this book and easily read it in one sitting. The pace of the book is quite fast anyway. Maybe a little too fast. If it would be a little slower, it would much more clearly be an epic fantasy and would have more room for detailed relationship building and world building, more time for show instead of tell.
However, I did really enjoy this book! The world and concept of this story were really fascinating and interesting. I loved how there was a soulmate-connection, but also how this was more than just insta-love and insta-sex. The characters did get to know each other, even though we didn't get to read all those moments. And I loved how all the guys we met and saw were bringing something different into this harem and most of all something Bae really needs during the journey that's waiting for her.
Because it's quite clear that the journey is gonna be dangerous and that a lot will happen to her. Due to all the different points of view we know more than the characters in this story and therefore we see part of what's happening already coming, however, there is also more of a mystery. At the moment we only get to see small glimpses of it, since Bae needs her harem before she can do much else, but I can't wait for the next books where we'll surely learn much more about all of this!
OMFG I have so many emotions with this book.. Bae is such a brave and amazing soul. The way she connects to her magic and that of her mother and ancestors is pretty astounding. Than the way she just knows her mate before even laying eyes upon them is magical and exciting. Her bravery and natural ability to lead is her best feature! I am already anxious to see how she and her mates get along and work as a whole for the Kumari and how they will all balance as one! I truly fell in love with Bae and her journey!

This book was a great read. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is there were a couple parts that were a little drawn out & it's a cliffhanger. Normally, I'd never recommend a cliffhanger, but Everything else was great. I love Bae & the 2 men this book introduced. I can't wait to read the next one!

This was a first for me. I’ve read ’fantasy’ before, but this one was different - in a good way. I see surroundings and essence that are new to me. The storyline is also different. Bae and Armel are wonderful together and I’m looking forward to see where Caspet will fit in all this. I do feel sorry for Adelaide....
This book is fantastic. Bae is the new Kumari after her other died. Now she has to find her seven mates before everything goes wrong. People want power and Bae is in the way. Will she find her mates in time? In this book she meets three and claims two. But all is not well as there is a complot forming against her...
I really enjoyed this book. Since Bae has lost her mother, its left to her to keep the family going. Bae still has her father and sibling, but it is down to her to keep the Kumari family bloodline going. Bae has to travel to different parts of the land in search of her seven mates, in doing so she has to make some hard decisions. The only thing that Bae should trust is the magic and her mates. Bae has so far picked two of them, how will they feel when she picks her third, as there is definitely a bit of jealousy going on. With something threatening not only her, but her kingdom, what will happen. Now awaiting book 2 bring it on
Hanleighs foray into reverse harem is a sucess! Bae has the Magic to save her kingdom, but she needs to find her 7 mates! The first one was easy, but the rest will not be so. There is trouble brewing, from outside and within the Relm. Will she find them all, before she dies? This story flows seamlessly and is enjoyable, can't wait for the next installment!
Everyone has them. But when your Choice is guided by magic that you are bound a lot can happen especially when you have to have multiple husbands! Super sexy and grabs you on a journey that a young woman must be strong enough for not just herself but her people! Awesome read!
Truly fantastic story, very original take on a reverse harem story. Love the concept of the Kitsune and the Kumari. I love the connections formed in this story between all the characters. Armel being the first mate his connection is what all the others will be based off. I can not wait for book two and her connection to her third and fourth mates.
In the beginning I was a little confused in what was going on and who was who. After a bit it clicked and I was hooked. Bae is going into her reign and needs to find her 7 mates. Finding her mates is interesting but there's also magic, prophecies, secrets, and deceit. With the ending I'm kinda hooked now and will be checking out book 2.
Very good book. The pace was well written. The description of the magic was also great. To understand it and the pull of it works to help make her world what it needs to be. Can’t wait for the next one. Keep up the great work.
After the tragic death of her mother, ,Kumari, Bea doesn’t have time to grieve, she will be next Kumari,Queen to her people. By tradition she must have seven mates. As her mother explain to her ,all of her mates have different roles in her life. Against her believes,Bea left her kingdom in search. Her search takes her on an adventure where she finds two of her seven mates, but it is not without suspense and twists. She must learn to rely on her-magic, instincts and heart . The things may not be as they appear. We going to follow the journey and continues search for her other mates. An interesting plot that had me interested from reading the blurb. Here we have a reverse harem style novel that sets up the beginning of a story about a Queen (the Kumari) in a realm of magical beings, who seeks her Seven [mates] from the seven realms.
While I was really excited to read this book, I struggled to keep the excitement up and felt like this book just perhaps was not meant for me. However, that may not be the case for you, as there are a lot of good qualities in the book. There is a lot of build-up to what is happening in the story, including the discovery of prophecies and seeking the magical threads that tie the Kumari to her Seven. We have a lot fo relationship building, and we don't find our FMC just jumping into bed to create a Mate Bond (like we can find in other stories). However, for me the use of the miss-mash third person perspective made the story not read smoothly, and felt like a confused narrator who would switch from internal monologue to use of "he/she" a lot.
Overall, this book isn't really my thing and I probably won't follow along with the series, but it may just be the kind of thing you're looking for.
**I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author for review consideration**
The characters I this novel were really intriguing and I can honestly say that I liked all of them, even the "villains." I liked that Bae seems to be strong even before she meets her mates, but I also like that the ones she's met so far have been able to bring out a different type of strength within her. I hope that the guys continue to have different reactions to her as they meet, that made the story more interesting. I enjoyed getting the in depth views into the different areas of the realm and how each area represented something that contributes to the plot without being ridiculous. I look forward to delving deeper and exploring the rest.
While I don't like where the plot has gone with her sister, I get that it adds to the drama. I also felt like there could've been more background in certain areas, but it does seem as though things were hinted at appearing in future books.
I didnt like how this book ended. Not that it was written bad or made no sense, more like it came out of nowhere, ending abruptly.
Overall, I liked the book and would recommend it to others. I'm looking forward to future books in the series.
An engaging first in series I liked it - suspense - intrigue - mystery- romance The Kumari -She is the reason their world has peace - Her blessed magic blended with the love of a mate from each of the seven realms creates a balance of beliefs and cultures that guide her decisions as queen and protects the magic of their world
I enjoyed the way Bradley built this world Each of the seven realms offers a different culture - The warriors, the scholars, the hunters, the empaths -you get the idea - and she shows how each, or begins to show, balances the other. This is not your typical reverse harem - thank the muses' - There is a storyline This is the first in series and as such we are introduced to some of the main players and given hints at possible plot lines and antagonists I enjoyed the characters we have met so far and the peaks we have been given at future events There are some areas that felt rushed and I would have liked more detail or background on/in but overall an enjoyable read Look forward to book two
So honestly it took me a while to get into this. It's well written, the political intrigue is interesting and the cultures described are beautiful unique. It's detailed just enough to not be confusing. But it was just a little boring for a long time, in my opinion, which is why I didn't give five stars, but honestly that's probably just partly a personal preference. I tend to like a lot more action and it seemed sort of slow going for at least the first 60 percent of the book. By the time I reached the end I was getting more interested but I can't say I was really excited to find out what was going to happen next, I just kept reading because I didn't want to not finish it. I probably will read the next book though, and hopefully things will be less boring, the ending had a nice cliffhanger that I see adding in some more action.
After the death of her mother Bae had no time to grieve as it became her responsibility to find her mates to ensure the continuation of her family bloodline.
Her search takes her on an adventure where she finds two of her seven mates, but it is not without suspense and twists. She must learn to rely on her instincts and heart as things may not be as they appear. The journey continues for her other mates, so it does end on a cliff hanger.
This is an intriguing and unique storyline and I look forward to seeing where her journey takes her next. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I am a huge lover of the reverse harem romance genre as what women would not love to have a group of men that are hers alone to not only protect her but to please her as well. I love the emotion is this book there is a lot of then but she is a brave soul her connection to her magic and her mother’s ancestors is amazing. She has amazing bravery and a born ability to lead. I love how she knows her mates and I can wait for the next part to see how they get along and balance each other out.

I saw this book by chance and the cover was pretty. I am so glad I read this book. Obsessed!! Great read and Bae wasnt just a pretty face. She was to be queen and no ordinary queen but she wanted to be a fair and just queen. As she starts the process to choose her mates, a prophecy may be fulfilled which may be her doom. I loved how she set up the world and her explanation of why so many mates made a lot of sense. Really enjoyed this and can't wait for the next book.
The world is rich and interesting. The diverse characters were a pleasure to read about. The premise of needing to claim seven mates, all with the threat of a prophecy, was interesting. This book gets through the claiming of the first two mates and I assume more will be claimed in the next in series. The heat level was pretty mild compared to others I've read recently, but it was enjoyable. The omniscient point of view was a little hard to follow.
Omg this book was awesome...adventure.. love... hate and maybe even war... this is the first book and I can't wait for the next one.. in this book Baes mother sacrifies her life to save Bae.. In doing so making Bae the new Queen.. thus starting her adventure off to finding her seven mates.. this book left me wanting more... I am now a new fan of this author and will be checking out her other books.
