Beaumont and Beasley #3.8

One Flew Over the Gryphon's Nest

Rate this book
The following transcripts are from a series of dictation machine cylinders recovered from the abandoned Caladrius Mental Hospital, which recently closed its doors after several unfortunate incidents. The interviews contained in this file have been secured in the Archive by order of Headmaster Malcolm Blackfire, and are not to be examined by unauthorized personnel.

Make no assumptions, and trust nothing.

Kyle Robert Shultz is the creator of the Aftermythos, an interconnected collection of stories set in an alternate universe where fairy tales and mythology are history. Shultz is a completely ordinary human being with no remarkable qualities whatsoever. Accounts suggesting that he is a dangerous wizard exiled from a parallel reality, a cleverly-disguised magical creature passing off the history of another world as original fiction, a mysterious trickster entity described in the folklore of a circumscribed region of Wales, or a pseudonym adopted by three talking otters stacked up in a trench coat should be dismissed as not entirely accurate.

Transcripts of recordings of interviews from the Caladrius Mental Hospital in the Afterlands . . . featuring Nick and Crispin Beasley, Cordelia and Molly Beaumont, and Malcolm Blackfire.

And yes, it's as good as that sounds. ;) It's simultaneously super fun and also NOT OKAY. Ahem. The usual Afterverse fare . . . *cough*

*incoherent shrieking about mah Crispin and Malcolm and co.*

Also, it was so cool how it's basically just dialog, and yet still paints a picture of what's going on, like an audio-drama or something. I LOVED the format!

This character piece is a fascinating look into the minds of the crew of Beaumont and Beasley, toying with all their flaws and fears. I feel like I know them all so much better now, and I can’t wait for their further adventures. I love the villain’s motivation too! It’s so unique, at least among Shultz’s antagonists.

A short read in the Beaumont and Beasley Series.

This short story is unique in the series because it is written as if it were a transcript of recorded sessions with Beaumont and Beasley as patients at a mental hospital. As a result the story is in Script format.

This Humorous and entertaining experiment in the Beaumont and Beasley series is one you won't want to miss.

A very clever format for what is a very chilling tale, if you take the time to think about it. But I can't say why, because that would be spoilers. You'll just have to get Patreon and read it for yourself. It's worth it.

Seriously don't know why I haven't read this before or why I waited so long to read this.
My mind is now exploding in several different directions.
Excuse me while I go pick up the pieces.

P.S.
If you, like me, haven't gotten around to reading this yet... Read it. It's really good and fills in some of the gaps that I had from reading The Hound of Duville.
