This a short read but it contains a complete story of Ryker and Lacey. These two have history as Ryker is Lacey's older brother's best friend. No more needed to be said, right? Niw that Joe has graduated and left college, Lacey of course has transferred from junior college. Now she is free to do what she wants......or at least she thinks so.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the short story of Lacey and Ryker. Ryker was best friends with Lacey's brother and Lacey has been in love with Ryker for years. When her brother finally graduated college, Lacey transferred to the same college because Ryker still goes there and she wants a chance to be with him. When Lacey shows up at Ryker's apartment and flirts with him, he acts like he isn't interested in her. Lacey gets frustrated and decides to find someone else. When she goes out to a bar, Lacey meets a man, but is annoyed to find Ryker there as well. Ryker kisses Lacey, but then pulls away telling her he can't be with her. Lacey still loves Ryker, but after he left her, she is ready to find someone else, or so she thinks. Ryker has other ideas and doesn't give her a chance to find anyone else, but he also doesn't think he can be with her. I really liked this quick read, i laughed at the means Lacey was willing to go to to be with Ryker. I think he really cared for her, but felt like it was going against his friendship with her brother. Good one.

Plot: Ryker is Lacey's brother's best friend, and even though she's been in love with him forever, she can't get him to see her as something more. What will it take to get him to notice her?

Commentary: Classic brother's best friend story. Lacey waited until her brother graduated college to move back and take a chance with Ryker. Now she just has to get him to stop the push-pull thing he has going on. This is a new adult storyline - not my favorite - but of course ended up okay once she taunted him enough to get him to commit (definitely new adult).

This was one hot & sexy story, especially after Ryker declared "deal's off!" I loved seeing Ryker and Lacey figure things out after such a long period of time when neither one would or could admit their true feelings. It was a really quick read that I enjoyed. Lacey Thompson wants her brother’s best friend, Ryker Hargrave. And Ryker is equally as adamant in wanting Lacey. But Lacey’s brother, Joe, is causing complications. Ryker and Joe are best friends and Joe has gotten Ryker to promise that he’ll watch out for Lacey. And, he supposes, getting together with his best friend’s sister is probably not the kind of looking out that Joe had in mind.

But when Lacey goes nightclub-hopping in search of a guy . . . any guy . . . Ryker steps in to save her from herself [and from disaster]. But will Joe continue to stand in the way of their happily ever after?

This story is one of several in the author’s dual-viewpoint series; here readers get Lacey’s viewpoint. [For the story from Ryker’s point of view, read “The Flip Side of the Deal Breaker.”] Short and decidedly dirty, the story stands on its own with no cliffhanger, but the ending feels a bit abrupt.

There’s a brief nightclub scene with an older man that Lacey intends to pick up and Joe, of course, gets his two cents worth in with a phone call or two but, for the most part, the only characters involved in the telling of this tale are Lacy and Ryker. Both are strong-willed characters, each with impassioned feelings for the other, but neither has spoken of them to the other. And then, there’s that promise that Joe has exacted from Ryker. Despite the story's predictable outcome, readers are likely to assume that, ultimately, there’s a happily-ever-after in store for this couple.

Ryker is best friends with and Lacey’s brother and has made a deal with him to watch out for her, the problem is they’re all grown up now and in college.. this is a quick steamy read that when came across in an email as a free read. I’m happy I just dove in without reading the the storyline, it’s a story that you can knock out in about an hour or so. We don’t overloaded with details into the characters but we learn enough to understand their personalities.

The Deal Breaker by Alexia Chase was an intensely steamy story of unrequited love between Ryker and Lacey! I loved the storyline and the passionate push and pull between the characters as Ryker tries to keep up his end of the deal with Lacey’s brother to protect her virtue, and Lacey fighting him at every chance to get him to fall for her!

Quick read. Honestly I didn’t particularly like Lacey. She came off as Whiny which negated her point of being grown up and not wanting ryker to see her as his best friends kid sister. Her pushiness just didn’t sit with me but it’s a short read so it was necessary to love things along. Ryker was hot and all protective.

It’s a unrequited love with a lot of dirty talk. There’s some adulty time but really for the erotic it’s not. But it was a cute and quick read when you aren’t sure what you read.

Denim Cargo Pants
