4 Forever Kinda Stars

I received this book by the Author in exchange for an honest review.

It was a lovely book, I enjoyed it so much. It is a beautiful story about two childhood friends turning into something more beautiful than just friends. I loved the characters in this book. Heath and Ace really good friends. Always looking out for each other. Health was always there for Ace whether she needed him or not. As the story progresses, their relation becomes more strong. Health looked after Ace and protected her until something happens to Ace that he just couldn't protect her from.

“I know she’s my forever kinda of love, because she’s the light in my darkness, giving me the strength to never give up.”

This story is about true love. It was so breath taking and heart shattering I Loved it. It was through those times that I felt like I was there, watching how their story unfold.

"Sometimes, you meet a person and you just click. You’re comfortable with them, and you don’t have to pretend to be anyone, or anything, that you’re not. ”

It was a complete roller coaster of emotions, kept me hooked in throughout the story and I just kept turning pages. Commendable story-line, fantastic characters.

MY RATING ☆☆☆☆ Forever Kinda Love (Lovelly, #1) by Clara Stone

4 ICE MAN STARS

A touching story of best friends that met under sad tragic circumstances at a very young age to that undeniable attraction for each other as the two characters get older..

FATE

We've both been through so much, and we've stuck together through thick and thin. I can't believe it's taken me so long to realize that I've fallen for my best friend.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Although I enjoyed the story line, the bond these two shared, the fear of moving from friend zone to girl friend/boy friend I kind of missed the move from friends to lovers, they never got past first base (Kissing) it just lacked that full on connection for me, it stayed in the sweet zone instead of moving into that (rip your clothes off) hot zone..

I don't want to lose my best friend because I'm unsure of my feelings

I needed to feel that all consuming connection these two had..I got that heart felt fear they were feeling in case the feelings they had for each other wrecked that strong bond they had but yeah I just needed/wanted more..But in saying that Y/A readers will love this it's a sweet romantic love story..

Heath always has my back. He's never failed me, not even for a day. He's been my rock. My secret keeper. Five hundred and sixteen weeks since he's found me, five hundred and sixteen pink Damask roses

I'll never let you fall ACE, if nothing else, believe in that

We never put a label on what we are. We just are. He needs me as much as I need him, sometimes, it scares me how much my world revolves around him.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

One look, one touch, one whisper...that's all it ever takes for me to lose myself in her, but the kisses, they leave me flying high, like I'm in outer space and the only thing holding me together is this - her

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

You're my forever kinda love, baby. There's nobody else that can make me feel complete, just you

Teasers used I got off the authors facebook page, one teaser was fan made

In what some readers may consider a redo of a popular trope seen often in the Young Adult genre, this one jumps out ahead of the pack. With a marvelous childhood friends to lovers storyline, two very special and captivating main characters are found in Carrigan and Heath (aka Ace and Iceman). Clara Stone’s compelling debut novel and the first book in her new series, conveys the beautiful and ugly sides of life and love in a sweet and tender rendering.

I really enjoyed so many things about this story. Most of all – the characters, who claimed my heart from the start. They are so young when they first meet through tragic circumstances. As they grow, so does the love they feel for one another. OH their building relationship certainly has its ups and downs and is tested many times over – and in the hardest way possible in the end. A great group of friends and family make up the secondary cast and lend such an additional level of enjoyment that I’m anxious to see whose book will come next.

With the addition of sassy and witty banter, and flirtatious maneuvers mixed with sizzling chemistry, the author brings this memorable story to life through her realistically written words and enjoyable journey.

Ace is beautiful, smarty, sexy woman, and no one deserves to be happy more than her. So why does it hurt so much to see her in someone else’s arms?
***

Ace and Heath have been best friends for a long time. Ever since he found her in the hospital after losing her mother. Since then they have been each other's rock and constant support. But now that they are about to graduate and head off to college, neither one can stop the feelings they feel for the other. Only they are both scared of ruining a 10 yr friendship. Who will make the first move? Will the other feel the same? And when their feelings are revealed...could it be too late?

I was so very pleased with this story. It started off a bit sluggish. Not too bad and definitely not enough to make me lose interest. It was just a bit. But halfway through, when things started picking up I found I couldn't put the book down. The need to keep reading was strong and it was so very good. I had to know how it all turned out in the end.

There were times I thought the story would go one way, a predictable way, but the author really surprised me by going somewhere totally different. Kudos for giving these characters their own story and not being predictable.

I really enjoyed the relationship these two shared. It was easy going and fun to read. They really were excellent for each other although it took them forever to realize and admit it to each other. But I still think the author timed it out well and kept the whole thing from being rushed. Again, kudos for doing that and making the story more believable.

Amazing romance, heart wrenching storyline, and some pretty fantastic characters...I was in love with this story. It was a wonderful coming of age story that I ended up inhaling in the end. Cannot wait to read more by this author. 5 Stars!!

5 ACE STARS!!!

“I know she’s my forever kinda of love, because she’s the light in my darkness, giving me the strength to never give up.”

This book was breathtaking and beautiful. There wasn't a moment that didn't have me crying my eyes out. Its stories like these that make me love to read. It was an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end and I was left with a massive book hangover to last me a week.

Carrigan ‘Ace’ Casper was the girl I wish I’d known in High School. And Heath Lovelly, was the boy I had a massive crush on. The world works in mysterious ways, and through loss two souls meet and they’re lives intertwine. Heath and Ace become the best of friends, after that mournful day in a hospital 10 years ago. They’re feelings for one another began to change and soon friendship turns into love. But life isn't always rainbows and butterflies. Life challenges you and throws you curve-balls.

Ace must face the hardest challenge of all and she must lie to Heath to protect him, but what Ace doesn't realize is that Heath knows her better than anyone ever could and that she isn't alone. And together they conquer the uncertainties and the struggle.

'Forever Kinda Love' was a story that makes you believe in soul mates and in true love. I truly had a great time reading it and it’s official, Heath has become one of my many Book Husbands, along with Rock, Vincent, and Harrington :D. I also how can you not love the secondary characters. This story had some of the best. I’m looking forward to the other books in the series. Thank you Clara Stone! I lay my hat down to you ;).

This is the first YA book I've read in a long time and I absolutely loved it!

Ace and Heath are great together. Best friends since they were kids, it's obvious they'd fall for each other and be perfect.
Heath acts like such an ass, but all it took was for him to realize how he really felt about Ace, to bring that sweet side to him. Typical stubborn teenager! Ace, Ace, Ace, she's as stubborn, and as blind as he was, if not worse! Everyone knew how he felt and she just couldn't see it. I was talking to my kindle like "Come on girl! He's so fricken obvious!"

But then they finally wake up....
Mean girls! Illness! These two go through it all and thrive!

As I said in the beginning, I loved this book! I laughed, I got pissed, I awed, I cried, and then I sighed with relief!

I recommend to all my YA lovers!

Wow! I don't really know where to start! The moment I saw the cover and blurb I wanted in! Since FSOG, I have read a lot of books full of hot sex and that has become the norm for me, I mean what woman doesn't these days? This is my first YA novel that I have read and I freaking loved it. The sexual tension was extremely high and Clara has a way of giving you just enough to get through the book and leave you highly satisfied. I loved the story line and the concept, I fell in love with their love and I felt it through her writing. There were times when I felt frustrated because I wanted them to see how they felt about each other or just simply admit it to each other. It made me remember how I was at that age and all the feelings I felt, making this book become very real for me. While her cover will grab your attention and her formatting is absolutely stunning, her writing is effortless and flawless. It will make you feel and what’s better than that…NOTHING! I smiled, laughed, wanted to deliver some cunt punches & ball crushers a few times but mostly, I freaking cried! So have your tissues on standby because there will be happy tears, sad tears and O-M-F-G tears!

Call the freaking hot tamale train because all the guys at this school were H-O-T! I am currently trying to figure out how to go back in time and spend my high school years there! My heart was torn between two males and I didn't know who I would pick in my head for our beautiful Ace until my favorite word was spoken ------- spank! Vincent, you had me love, on pins and needles wanting to see what would happen between you two but there was just something about Heath. From his dark looks to his chiseled body, I was drawn to him! Throw in his personality and how vulnerable he became for Ace and I was his, completely!Okay, so Heath, the lion, the big bad wolf who created this wildcat, a lioness inside of me - stole my freaking heart completely! So big bad wolf meet the big bad cougar & you guessed it, she wants to play! *adding Heath to book boyfriend list*

On to Ace, she is everything I am drawn to in females so I know we would have been best friends if we went to high school together, at least until I saw that she wanted my man! But seriously, she is gorgeous, so sweet, caring, loving and a personality that will keep you laughing or smiling but do not under estimate her, she can deliver a bitch slap if needed! Every time the high school drama happened I was right there with them, eating my popcorn and sipping my drink! I found myself also getting attached to Emily who had one hell of a supporting character roll! She has no filter and doesn't apologize for who she is and that’s what I love about her!

The relationships between Heath and his brothers kept my laughing, just as much as the strained relationship between Ace and her father yanked at my heart. I am extremely happy to have witnessed the growth of Ace’s relationship with her father in such an emotional way. I loved that Heath had his brothers and sister-in-law to guide him through his indecisive moments. It was through those times that Clara really made me feel like I was there, watching their story truly unfold.

Since I can't say anything else without giving the BOOM away, I think this is where I should end my review.

*Also posted at Oops! I Read A Book Again*

Thank you to Clara Stone/Priya Kanaparti for the review copy! This in no way affected my views of the novel.

I really wanted to like this novel. Priya is ultra sweet and kind and I've been hearing great things about the Dracian Legacy he wrote as Priya. This is Priya's first foray into contemporary romance as Clara Stone and it pains me to say that I didn't like this book one bit. I don't hate it like how I hate some of my 2-star reads but I just didn't connect with the characters nor did I immerse myself in the story. I pretty much scoffed all the way. Here are the reasons why...

This is supposed to be a best friend romance. Ace and Heath are best friends ever since they were kids but I never got the memo. Right from the start, it read as if they're finding each other sexy and are having feelings for one another. I always get told that they're best friends but HOW? WHEN? I didn't glean much of that relationship. Because all of a sudden Ace and Heath wanted to jump each other. The bane of best friend romances is the slow build-up to something more. That creeping awareness that what if, just maybe, you actually love your best friend. Ace and Heath did wonder but it was all too soon, in my opinion.

I shipped the other guy. Who had a very small role because we all knew from the start that it would be Ace and Heath as endgame. So my poor shipper heart was totally not in it at all. Vincent was nice and definitely not a caveman like Heath and I just wished he was THE ONE but of course who am I fooling. We all know that your ship great affects your opinion of the novel, well, for subjective and emotional readers like me, they do. Oh well, life is unfair and almost always evil to my shipper heart.

Heath was such a caveman. HELLO, THIS IS 2014. Gah, I hate guys who punch people for a girl's honor preemptively. I mean, if thugs were harassing the girl, sure. But if you know nothing, please. Heath was so jealous all the time too and nada, not gonna fly with me. He thinks and feels that Ace is his. No, YOU own YOURSELF. Please.

All those plot arcs. There's a fine line to toe in cramming plot arcs. You want the novel to be meaty but you don't want it so jam-packed that the plots lose their weight. I felt like Forever Kinda Love tried to discuss so much that the ending felt all rushed. Plus, THAT TIME LEAP. Sigh. I think I'd rather read a novel chronicling Ace and Heath's story in that said time leap.

I'm really sorry Priya. But the good news is, if the next novel is about Harrington, I am sooooo reading that. From the small bits I read of Harrington, I may already know why he's so allergic to commitment but I adore his humor so I'd read that. Plus, he's Colton Haynes in Priya's dream cast and OH, HELLO, COLTON. LEMME DROOL ON YOU.

Even with my thoughts regarding this book, I still suggest you go pick it up. Maybe it's for you!

One of the first words in the blurb is surprise and let me tell you, this book is a surprise.. in a good way, of course. Let me begin by saying I had a rocky start with this book. There was a lot going on in Ace and Heath's individual lives and it was honestly hard to keep up with both of them. Add all of that to their very complicated "friendship" (in quotes because we all know there's something more to that) and we have a whirlwind love story.

Through all of the endless drama, I found myself slowly drawn to Ace and Heath with every page, every chapter. Their story has this pull that got me to finish the entire book in less than half a day - that's how engrossed I was! At first it had me wondering when exactly Ace and Heath started falling for each other. I always look for the part where the protagonist finally admits how deep they've fallen for someone. Those parts either make or break a book for me. But I didn't get that single defining moment in Forever Kinda Love. However, I realize that I don't need that part to appreciate Ace and Heath's feelings for each other. Maybe this is as close as it can get to real life. I'd like to believe that for most people, there's not just one moment where you tell yourself you're in love. Love happens over time, and often times without warning. This is exactly how and why Ace and Heath's love story captivated me. I didn't need all the details, I just wanted their passionate acceptance of what was already right in front of them from the beginning. And booooy was it steamy *coughs* I meant passionate. It would've been better with a bit of background because I like getting a good grasp of what I'm reading, but all in all I appreciate how heartfelt this entire story was.

I guess my only thumb down (just one. Hehe) for this book is the conflict towards the end - it was a bit hurried, in my opinion. I think it should've been stretched out more to allow readers a little room to breathe. I know it wasn't meant to define the plot and lengthening it could've turned the story into a different direction, but I do think that it would've balanced the story nicely.

Given all that, I give Forever Kinda Love 4 stars! Any book that can make me go from :D to :( to :D to :( to :D (and so on) is definitely worth checking out. I wouldn't recommend a book that had me poker faced most of the time. Trust me.

This is an eARC review + a short note of what I thought after reading the finished copy

I. I. I don't know. I really really liked it. That's for sure.

And Heath. Heaaattthhhhhhh. I love you Heath.

I read an eARC so I can't tell you much because hey, I wouldn't be able to tell what happened in the real thing.

Let's go to the parts that... erm...

One, some things were repeated again and again. And every time I read those kinds of stuff, only one things pops into my mind. This is trying to be longer than what it should be

Two, Predictable. And I'm talking about everything. To put it simply, there were no scenes that caught me off guard or shocked me.

Three, LISA. Why does everybody feel the need to put someone like her in everything? Like everything

And that's it. Let me tell you about what I loved because I like talking about that.

I LOVE ACE AND HEATH TO DEATH

I love Em, I love Rock, I love Vincent, I love Blake, I love Hudson, I love Harrington, I love everyone.

This is a case of that She loves him. He loves her. Everybody knows. Including them. They simply know that there's too much to risk. Including their forever kind of friendship.

I loved what happened with their fathers. READ. THE. BOOK.

My favorite thing is the roses Isn't that sweet? Like when will I meet someone that will do that to me too??

Aside from Blake. Of course. She's the best thing in the whole book.

Confession: I am a lot like Emily as a best friend. I pry on everything. And I'll always have your back. I swear I'm worse than Lisa.

Edit:
Okay, I... Okay, my opinion didn't change. I was all smiley and everything but yeah. That's it. Really, it was... uhm... it was what it was. Yeah. But looking at the finished copy, it was edited for the better, and well, that's it.

2 Y.A. STARS ⭐️⭐️

Sadly this book missed the mark on a number of levels for me. I don't want to turn this into a novel so I will try and be as concise as possible on why I felt it didn't work for me.
(It's a very popular book with lots of high ratings so I suggest reading those too as I am definitely in the minority here,)

•This book was a bit too YA for my liking. I don't mind YA to a certain extent but it has to be done right. This book just had too much side drama, too many unrealistic scenes and was too immature.
•A handful of things were always alluded to but we're never fully explained and because of that I didn't fully understand them and I wasn't completely connected to the story because of it. I don't want to give anything away but I just felt as though things were in the story to add a dramatic effect or emotional pull but weren't fully thought out and didn't always fit or were wrapped up too quickly and nicely. I still have questions that were never answered.
So many things just didn't add up.
•I have mixed feelings about Heath (the "hero"). Overall I didn't really like him. His thoughts (inner dialogue) and his actions seemed to conflict with each other. Now sometimes I think something and I don't act on it, of course, but hearing his thoughts and seeing his actions and how they didn't always connect or make sense disconnected me from Heath. He was immature, self-contradictory and a teenage man-whore and therefore I'm not really fond of him.

This was my first book by this author, and apparently this authors first book of this genre. I didn't know what to expect. The overall concept of the story was interesting but sadly I feel this book/story just wasn't executed correctly. I really enjoyed the writing style and when things flowed I did enjoy it.

Forever Kinda Love had me in an emotional roller coaster! It's been a while since I read a book that had me hooked from the very beginning to the end. I devoured it in one seating. If you like a damn good book that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then this is your book! I haven't read many Young Adult books ( no reason in particular), but I'm so dang happy I read this one! If I could give this book more then 5 stars, I would do it in a heart beat. Now I'm sure my review will most likely not give this amazing book justice, but I'll try.

Carrigan "Ace" Casper is a seventeen year old girl who looses her mother in a car accident at the age of 8. She meets Heath Lovelly the very day her mother dies and they instantly become best of friends.

Heath Lovelly experiences the loss of his mother at a young age as well. One of the reasons why Ace and Heath develop a strong bond. They help, support, and rely on each other, which makes them inseparable.

It's senior year for both and Ace starts hanging out with Vincent, while they work on a school project for a fundraiser. Heath starts feeling differently towards Ace and becomes jealous of her and Vincent's friendship. Little does he know that Ace has had "feelings" for him as well. Both deny their feelings not wanting to ruin the amazing friendship they have but their attraction towards each other grows. Life has a way of testing you and presenting you with with challenges. Ace and Heath face a difficult life altering challenge. Will Ace be Heath's Forever Kinda Love? Well you'll just have to read this amazing book and find out for yourself.

Clara you are a beautiful sweet and very very talented writer! I can't wait to read more of your books! You have a true gift! I laughed, I cried, and I fell in love with Ace and Heath!
Thank you so much!

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review

(This book was reviewed by Cathy Stansell from Rochelle's Reviews)

This book is a coming of age romance. I usually do not read that genre but this one is worth the read. It has sexual tension but not an enormous amount of steam.
Carrigan, nicknamed Ace, is beautiful, smart and with the tragic life she has had, she deserves to find happiness.

This is a best friend to lover story. Ace and Heath have been best friends since they were young and met in the waiting room at the hospital, where her mother dies. Then the book moves forward to when they are about to graduate. Heath made a silent promise to himself to always protect Ace from everyone including himself. That was all working fine for him up until Vincent comes into the picture.

At that point, Heath figures out that he has feelings for Ace. (which of course he denies)
I enjoyed watching their love grow even though at times it was frustrating.
When they finally realize that they are beginning to fall for each other it startles them. I believe that they were afraid it would ruin their friendship. They finally give in and realize it only feels right when they are together.

I also fell in love and bonded with the other characters in the book. Rock, Vincent, Harrington, and Emily are all great and I look forward to seeing them in other books.
I felt that this book was slow to start but will tug at your heartstrings and never lets go.
At one point Ace finds out some news and it almost breaks them apart. Heath does not allow that to happen since he promised to be there for her always. Because he felt in his heart that their love was worth fighting for.

If you are looking for a book full of steam, this is not the book for you. This is a Love story... A forever kind of love story. I look forward to reading other books by this author.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There were many ups and downs in the story creating an emotional rollercoaster of distress, joy and relief. As far as a contemporary young adult romance novels go, Forever Kinda Love is very well developed, beautifully written and thought provoking. I do feel that the ending was very abruptly concluded, but that is just a minor fault and I really liked the book nonetheless.

If you think you would enjoy an upbeat romance about two childhood friends that mean everything to each other falling in love, you will love this book. It is sweet and utterly heartwarming.

I absolutely adore when romance novels are narrated through both partners and with Ace’s as well as Heath’s thoughts alternating throughout each chapter, it intertwines them both smoothly and cleverly.
As the book nears to an end you will be inexplicably rooting for Heath and Ace as they struggle to be honest with each other – and themselves, about their feelings for one another.

Clara Stone (also known as Priya Kanaparti) has previously written several self-published books and is currently working on the rest of the Lovelly series. The second book in the series titled Flirting with Love was published on the March 4th 2015 and follows the lives of two characters previously introduced in Forever Kinda Love.

I read this book through Kindle Unlimited. This is my first book by this author and the writing was good. It is written in duel pov's.

Ace and Heath are seniors in high school. They have been best friends for 10 years. He is somewhat of a player and she hasn't really dated much. When she does start dating Heath becomes jealous and realizes his feelings for her. He comes across overly alpha and possessive of her. All along as you are reading you realize something is wrong with her, with her having nose bleeds. When they finally start to be a couple they are afraid of loosing each other like they both lost their mothers at a young age. She is having tests run and a biopsy. At the end of the book she collapses and he is sedated while the paramedics work on her. Then it jumps to the epilogue set 2 years in the future so they do get a hea. I thought that was a little weird. Also the fact they both have nicknames "ace" for her and "iceman" for him and this is never explained how they came about.

I received this book in exchange for a review.

Ace and Heath have been best friends for years. Both of them have lost their mother and both blame themselves. In their senior year of high school, Ace begins to have nose bleeds and dizzy spells. She is taken to the ER after a cheerleading accident. Heath's brother is a doctor. He looks over the test results and finds something the ER doctor has missed. Ace and Heath are finally ready to admit their have a forever kind of love when the dreaded cancer appears.

I enjoyed this book. I would have liked more information on what kind of cancer Ace has and if she is in total remission. The book has been edited and is an easy read.

Wow!!
Heath and Ace (Carrigan) have been best friends forever-then finally turn into lovers. They are scared "rabbits", as he would call her.
I really enjoyed this romance because you can be friends first than lovers-"just take a chance".
"Don't let love pass you by because you're to scared to take a chance. For once throw away all logic, close your eyes and let your heart lead you."
She finds out she has Cancer and Heath is was there for her!!

When your 8 years old you never figured you will find your best friend in a hospital the day that tragedy struck her life. For Ace and Heath that is what happens fate brought them together and from that point on they were best friends, but when Heath released that his feelings for Ace are more then just as friends that when his life gets a litter more tricky. This is an amazing story of how fate will bring two people together and give them a hell of a ride.

“Don’t let love pass you by because you’re too scared to take a chance. For once, throw away all logic, close your eyes, and let your heart lead you.”

Ah, this is the classic bestfriends-turned-lovers story, and it’s one topic that I’m not particularly fond of, maybe because some of the novels that I’ve read didn’t just impress me, but Clara Stone managed to actually make me read Forever Kinda Love in just one sitting and that doesn’t happen a lot, trust me.

When I read the first few chapters, I was kind of confused with their relationship already because they claim to be bestfriends but they act like they’re more than just that. It’s honestly so cute and a little annoying at the same time, because I was rooting for them from the very beginning and seeing them struggle and have those “will they or won’t they” moments keeps me on the edge of my seat, and makes me turn those pages until I realize that it’s already 4 in the morning.

I have to admit, there was too much going on though, between the two of them and also with their respective families and partners that sometimes it was hard to take it all in. But the good thing about that is we were able to see the character development and growth with both Ace and Heath. I think that Heath is not only a wonderful bestfriend, but also an amazing boyfriend. He never fails to make Ace feel better when she’s down and he just knows her too much that there’s no way she can ever lie to him, it also goes the same for Ace to Heath. Really, I’m not a big fan of the bestfriends to lovers story, because I can’t imagine how it works. I mean, wouldn’t that be too weird? And boy, Stone didn’t make me feel weird about this, alright.

There were little clues since the beginning of the novel and maybe those helped me to associate them as the more than just bestfriends type. I love the fact that Heath wants to be a better person because of Ace, not that he’s a bad one, but maybe a little too naughty sometimes. And that bomb that Stone dropped on us was really hard to deal with, even as a reader. I was on the verge of tears, and okay, maybe I cried a little bit, because it’s hard to see them deal with such a serious thing at a very young age.

By the way, can I just say that I love and adore Heath’s character soooo much?! (Clara Stone, can you give me my own Heath, please? *puppy dog eyes*) Seriously though, the way he looks at Ace, the way he admires her, protects her… the way he proclaimed his love for her?! Just, WOW. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s pretty hot and a lacrosse player.

I was actually surprised by how it all turned out in the end, and on how I felt about it. I actually like an ending that’s clearer and gives me an assurance, that’s why I was surprised when I was glad about the conclusion of FKL. And that dual POV? Priceless. I loved that I was able to hear from both of these characters and got to know them more.

If you want a story that will touch your heart, make you value your life more and surprise you in ways you can’t imagine, this one’s for you. I’m pretty sure that by the end of it, you’ll want your Forever Kinda Love too. I know I did.

Forever Kinda Love is a special breed of romance. Romance authors (and probably some readers) refer to it as a “best friends to lovers” story. Having married my best friend, I can attest to the fact that this type of love resonates deeply. Who wouldn’t want to end up with someone they can call their best friend? It brings a sweet innocence to the relationship, a bond that’s as solid as steel. And Clara Stone has captured it perfectly.

Carrigan (Ace, as she’s called throughout most of the book) first meets Heath when she’s seven. Huddled in a hospital waiting area, the last thing she expects to find is a friendship that will last. But that’s exactly what happens. Flash forward ten years and Heath and Ace are seniors in high school on the cusp of graduation, and they’re inseparable. But they’re best friends, and nothing more. Heath has kept his silent promise to watch over the little girl who lost her mom, keeping her carefully shielded from his player status and parade of non-relationships.

When Ace meets the mysterious Vincent, though, Heath starts to realize that his feelings for her go far beyond his promise to protect her. He’s jealous. And he doesn’t like it.

But what he doesn’t know is that Ace feels the same way. She secretly wishes for more with Heath, but can’t fathom the idea that he’d view her that way. It’s not until an unexpected illness threatens to break the two apart that they both discover the courage to speak up.

Told in a split POV, Forever Kinda Love is an emotional roller-coaster, full of “will they/won’t they” moments and heart-wrenching beauty. Stone brilliantly weaves an authentic, teenage voice throughout, and every single moment–from the fast, head-first rush of young love to the battles with insecurities we’ve all felt–rings true. The voyeuristic way readers are allowed to see things the characters haven’t grasped yet creates a dynamic pull that will hook you and keep you reading to the end. We know they belong together, and we know how they both feel, but the back-and-forth dance as the characters discover those truths is simultaneously frustrating and completely honest.

I read this in draft form, and I can honestly say that even in its roughest phase, Ms. Stone was able to bring me to tears several times. This is easily the most powerful romance I’ve read in a long time, and I highly recommend it.

**Content Note: This is classed as a YA, but parents should be aware that the content, in my opinion, is appropriate for 17+ years. It contains heavy swearing and steamy make-out sessions that will leave adults looking for a cold shower.**

You are gonna love Heath and Ace.

They’ve been best friends ever since Heath met Ace at the hospital. Her mother had died and he reached out to a little girl, looking so lost and alone.

Now, ten years later and almost out of school, they are still best friends. But something is changing. They are becoming aware of each other in a different way. Or is it just that they are tired of fighting something that’s been growing for years.

Do they dare to risk their friendship? You’re not supposed to fall in love with your best friend.

Do you remember your first love? How you couldn’t think of anything but that person? What are they doing right now? Are they thinking of me too? Do they love me as much as I love them?

With Heath and Ace it’s even more intense.

Heath has been there for Ace through thick and thin, always thinking of her first, doing everything he can to make sure she is safe and happy. He melted my heart. His love for Ace was incredible and without question.

Ace knew Heath would always have her back, always be there when she needed him. And she’d always be there for him. I kept hoping she’d make her move. Finally admit her feelings and let love flow.

These two always told each other everything. There were no secrets between them, until now. Until how they felt for each other changed. And when Ace gets some disturbing news, I feared for these two young lovers. If ever two people were meant to be together, it was Heath and Ace.

I kept thinking, don’t you dare. Like the author could hear me and give me the ending I wanted, I demanded. As much as I wanted to know what would happen, I was almost afraid to find out.

Forever kinda love. You see it in the movies. You read about it in books. You hear rumors that it exists. You might even have found it or know someone who did. For those of you who haven’t found it, this book gives you hope.

I received this book for my honest review.

I'm not normally one for romance, but Forever Kinda Love was a cute read.

Ace and Heath first meet in a hospital waiting room after Ace's mother dies. Fast forward ten years of friendship, Ace and Heath are ready to graduate high school and head off to college. Their feelings for each other are blossoming, but neither wants to make a move and potentially ruin that friendship that's helped both of them for so long.

I'll admit that, going into it, I thought it'd be a typical romance story between a cute, shy girl, and a popular, experienced player. And it kind of is. It's not a bad thing, just kind of. . . done to death.

I guess what pushes FKL ahead of the other best friend romances is that Ace and Heath are actual friends. Not kinda friends or characters who say they're friends and never spend a moment together unless it's to fawn over the other. Even without the romance, you can feel how much the two genuinely care for each other. It's a type of relationship that doesn't need to be defined because it's clear to the reader that Ace and Heath (Hace?) just belong together.

There were moments that made me roll my eyes, of course. Ace's, "How could a hot, sexy, studmuffin like that be into plain Jane me?" and Heath's, "I'm a player, but I really want to change for the right girl (aka Ace)," were so. . . typical. It's like you just want to slap the characters and scream, "Get over it, you're meant to be!"

Despite this, Clara Stone still manages to capture that awkward struggle bus romance that most of us wish we'd go through when we love someone and aren't sure they love us back. It's a quick, easy read full of fun, flirtiness, heartbreak, and all that good stuff. I finished it in half a day, so it's definitely something to look into if you need your daily dose of romance!

I received this free in exchange for a honest review.

Initially this was set to be an okay read for me...... until the last 30% of the book. Up to that point it was the usual YA story- the absent parents, the obnoxious male love interest with a great body, the obligatory love triangle, the sidekick/BFF. Sigh. I was ready to comment on the engaging writing and to pick out Ace as the spotlight. She raised herself after the death of her mother as her father was so busy grieving. She is the cheerleader who befriends everyone. She holds her own against Heath, aka Iceman. I loved she remained true to her standards. For me, I wished she chose Vincent instead but alas the heart wants the heart wants. I will forgo my rant on Heath. I don't think the end redeems him, but I may be harsh. I was glad that this was no insta-love and that Ace and Heath(Iceman) were friends before. But that last 30% was what made this novel shine. So often, the romance becomes sweet and sappy but here Ms. Stone was wise. She introduced a twist, expected, given the build-up and my scientific background, which I think allowed Ace and Heath to grow. And for this redeemed the book for me. I actually want to learn more about the secondary characters who were relatively well fleshed out. Their stories are begging to be told. I would read the rest of this series if this were the case.

Overall, a 3.5 star book and a good introduction to the rest of the series. Suitable for teens over 15+ given that it is a mature ya novel.

Ms. Stone contacted me about reviewing her books and I'm so glad that she did because - OMG - I absolutely LOVED Forever Kinda Love!! I fell in love with the synopsis and it didn't take me long into reading the book to fall in love with it too. It was just fantastic and I can't wait to get started on the next book!

I loved Ace as the heroine! She's a strong, sweet, smart, and kind, good girl. She's just sweet and I know I've already said that, but she really is sweet and light and pure, but she also has a feisty, sassy side to her too. Ace isn't perfect and she has her moments, but she is a brave heroine and she will make you proud.

Now I loved Ace, but I LOOOVED Heath!! I swear that boy-man completely melted my heart and stole it - he's so sweet and wonderful! He is light and playful and just so darn cute with Ace that for a minute I thought he wouldn't be the possessive-growly-she's-mine type, but, boy, is he ever! I just can't tell you how amazing he is, you need to meet him for yourself!

Forever Kinda Love is a heartbreaking, beautiful story. It's more sweet than steamy and I usually prefer my books steamy, but I honestly didn't mind with this one. It actually made more sense staying sweet, not that I would've minded if it hadn't. Forever Kinda Love is amazing - it made me cry and yell and laugh and smile - I just "forever kinda loved" it!!

Forever Kinda Love is a standalone told from both Heath and Ace's POV with a HEA ending!

I loved Heath and Ace. I know it was a long time ago, but I remember being afraid of losing my best friend if I admitted that I was in love with him ..... So I could really identify with Heath and Ace. True, we didn't have to endure any of the curve balls that were thrown at these two lovable characters, but the uncertainty of taking things further and the fear of losing what you already have, was totally real and believable.

Heath and Carrigan (Ace) have been best friends since they were children. They know everything about each other and connect on a very deep and profound level, after having been brought together under very stressful circumstances. They have always been there for each other, supporting one another through the good times and the bad times. It is so easy to love them and the easy way they handle each other. So many great lines that you would only say to someone who was truly your very best friend. Of course, once you become teenagers and have all these crazy hormones and mixed feelings for your bestie, things can become a little complicated. Some times you need to take a leap of faith though, and see where things lead you. I want to tell you all about their trials and tribulations, but I won't. I will tell you that you should read 'Forever Kinda Love', it is a beautiful love story. I have my 'Forever Kinda Love'... Maybe you will see that you have yours and you don't even know it yet. :D

First of all I’ll tell you we at DLS greatly appreciate that fact that we received this novel for an honest review. I will say this is a good, but not a great easy read, it’s easy to follow a story plot about two best friends who grow up together and fall in love. The characters Heath and Carrigan “Ace” seem to really go well with each other in this love story.

The problem I find with this novel really is that it follows a much over done plot. There isn’t much going on to really make it stand out and make you want to re-read this novel over and over again. This book is not poorly written by any means, but it’s not a book that really stands out against the competition. I can’t say I was 100% in love with this book; I was more like 65% in like with it.

I think the writing is done well and the main characters come across as sweet together, but this storyline was too predictable for most of the story, and it’s really hard to keep a best friend love story plot interesting without having some major kind of shock factor or event really thrown in to spice things up. It would have been amazing to see a little more complexity to the story line; I also wish it had been a little longer in length.

Overall:
Rating: 3.5
Plot: Predictable
Pace: Steady

Thanks for the opportunity to review, “Forever Kinda Love.”

I think I have mentioned before that I truly enjoy books like this. I think it's nice to have someone who is your best friend and have it turn into something else that is even more beautiful. I loved the characters in this book. Heath and Ace are really good together. I loved how he was always protecting her- regardless of her needing her or not. He always had her back until she was, unfortunately, faced with something that he just couldn't protect her from.

"Say the word and I'll follow you to the ends of the earth. No questions asked."

Heath and Ace have both saved each other in more ways than one. They find comfort in one another every time they are faced with something terrible. I loved how Heath always tried to remain strong for Ace even when he himself felt as if his world was breaking apart before his eyes. The characters we meet as well as their story is simply captivating. It shows both the beautiful and the not so beautiful sides of life and love. The characters meet through tragic circumstances and yet it is the best thing that could've happened to one another.

"I'm ready to jump in with my eyes closed and you by my side."

I actually really enjoyed this book. I read through it so fast- I couldn't wait to see how it all ended and what happened next.

A boy and girl meet through a tragic event and become best friends. Their friendship is like no other and you can see from the beginning of the book that they are completely in love with one another. So how do they tell each other? That's where I thought this book was going, but the Author threw in a twist that although I felt was coming, I didn't expect.

The Author did a wonderful job building up the anticipation of the love relationship. She did an even better job weaving the twist into the storyline without being obvious. Like I said, I FELT something was coming, but couldn't put my finger on it until right before it hits.

That being said, since I was so caught up in the love story, when the twist hits, I feel like I got left hanging a little. Don't get me wrong, I was still turning the pages and completely pulled into the story, but....I don't know, I feel like I got left out of experiencing a moment with them.

All in all, I liked the book and would recommend it to those who enjoy Young Romance, high school novels.
