This was an easy 5 star rating for me as I loved the two previous books in the Holger Munch and Mia Kruger series which started with the outstanding ‘I’m Travelling Alone’ which was a real jaw thunker. Whilst my jaw didn’t hit the decks quite so many times it was still an absolutely amazing read. This was a bit like a symphony with either Mia or Holger taking the individual instrument parts in the action then the full ensemble comes together to reach a crescendo and the storyline rises and falls effortlessly. This was so cleverly written with twists , turns and misdirections and some incredibly powerful moments that made your eyes pop and your jaw drop. I don’t want to give much away but the plotting and pace was excellent from the first dramatic moments where car headlights caught the antler wearing young boy and couldn’t put this down.
I really liked the characters- poor Holger remained in love with his ex wife although the new forensic pathologist Lillian Lund could become a distraction! Munch was struggling with guilt from the injuries his daughter suffered in book 2 - The Owl always hunts at night. Whilst Mia was still suffering many years on with the death of her twin sister Sigrid from a heroin overdose and this became relevant to this storyline. There was a serial killer who carefully posed his victims in a number of different ways and left a series of bizarre clues which challenged and taunted the brilliance of the unit led by Munch. Mia had to use all her analytical skills, insight and determination ably assisted by the likes of Gabriel Molk whilst Munch worked doggedly to unveil the killer. The storyline had so many intriguing elements to it including links to an Astrid Lindgren book ‘The Brothers Lionheart’ and to a case of arsonist Jon Ivar Salem which made Mia’s reputation. The story reached an exciting climax as yet again Mia was in danger. The book ultimately finished on an optimistic note for both of the lead characters.
Overall, another terrific book from Samuel Bjork and an excellent translation too. Whilst this book can definitely be read as a stand-alone it helps to have read the previous two.

where we can meet again with the team under Holger Munch management. As in previous books, Mia is showing great intuition and every team member is bringing his contribution.
A sequence of murders shocks Oslo. At first glance, random victims are chosen. Even the killer looks different every time. He even manages to lead everyone in a completely wrong direction. But in the end, as expected, the case is solved and closed.
A very entertaining read and deserves its 4 stars.

Nuevo caso de una de una de mis parejas de policías favorita. Holger Munch y Mia Krüger.
No sé que tienen que desde que empiezo es casi imposible parar, prácticamente los leo de una sentada. La ambientación noruega me encanta y los casos son más allá de lo adictivo.
Ya lo he mencionado alguna vez, el personaje de Mia me recuerda a Salander (siento debilidad por Salander) y a mi me gusta mucho su papel en la historia. Puede que sea ya muy visto, compañeros policías: uno con problemas matrimoniales y la otra con problemas psicológicos pero para mi fuenciona muuuy bien este dúo; que se complementan a la perfección.
En cuanto al caso ha sido un pelín más flojo que los anteriores. Me ha gustado y ha sido del todo imprevisible porque no sospeché nada de nada 😅😅 (para variar jajaja), pero sí que me ha dado la sensación de que ha estado un poco menos elaborado que los casos anteriores; pero eso es sólo una percepción personal.
Yo por mi parte seguiré leyendo a esta pareja que hace que viva en las calles de Oslo y me integre en su equipo como un miembro más 🙃

I'm sorry but it's bad. It's just bad.
If you read the first book - you've read them all. All the annoying things from the first two books also maintened in this one.
Mia is still the best of the best and no one can tell why.
Mia still as always goes to a stuffed bar to think of the investigation being annoyed that she stumbles upon someone each time.
Dialogs are still literally impossible to read because one of the two talking only says the beginning of what they're thinking and the other one keeps asking - who? what? when? what do you mean?
You spend tons of time reading stories of lives of characters who have 1% of importance in the book.
Mia is sort of sober now. But still kinda drugged.
The villain's motives are personal towards police, again.
The ending and the whole killer's story line could do a part in a brasilian soap opera.
Interesting ideas but horrible realization.

Η τρίτη περιπέτεια του Samuel Bjork με πρωταγωνιστές τους Χόλγκερ Μουνκ και Μία Κρούγκερ, «Το αγόρι στο χιόνι», είναι η πιο ολοκληρωμένη, καλογραμμένη και ώριμη συγγραφικά που μας έχει παρουσιάσει ως σήμερα.
Για άλλη μια φορά, διάφοροι άνθρωποι -φαινομενικά εντελώς άσχετοι μεταξύ τους- πέφτουν θύματα ενός παρανοϊκού εγκληματία και η ομάδα του Χόλγκερ Μουνκ καλείται για αναλάβει και πάλι δράση. Πρώτο θύμα είναι μια νεαρή μπαλαρίνα, το πτώμα της οποίας ανακαλύπτεται σε μια λίμνη. Η κοπέλα φοράει τη στολή της, ενώ μια κάμερα είναι στημένη στην όχθη με τον φακό της στραμμένο προς τη σκηνή του εγκλήματος. Τι μπορεί να κρύβεται άραγε πίσω από όλο αυτό; Τα ελάχιστα στοιχεία μπερδεύουν την ομάδα των αστυνομικών, που προσπαθεί να τα επεξεργαστεί πριν ο δράστης χτυπήσει ξανά. Κάτι που δεν αργεί να συμβεί, μπερδεύοντας περισσότερο τα πράγματα. Υπάρχει κάποιος ιδιαίτερος δεσμός ανάμεσα στα θύματα, κάποιο μοτίβο βάσει του οποίου τα επιλέγει ο δολοφόνος; Και τι σχέση μπορεί να έχουν όλα αυτά με ένα μικρό αγόρι, που βρέθηκε πριν πολλά χρόνια εγκαταλειμμένο κάπου στο δάσος, φορώντας στο κεφάλι ένα κέρατο ελαφιού;
Χρονικά, βρισκόμαστε αρκετούς μήνες μετά από τα γεγονότα που συνέβησαν στο προηγούμενο βιβλίο. Ο Μουνκ έχει περάσει το διάστημα αυτό με την οικογένειά του, φροντίζοντας την κόρη του που αναρρώνει μετά την περιπέτειά της, ενώ η Μία, έχοντας μόλις ολοκληρώσει την απεξάρτηση από το αλκοόλ και τα χάπια, ετοιμάζεται να φύγει για παρατεταμένες διακοπές στην Καραϊβική. Φυσικά, όλα ανατρέπονται με τον φόνο της μπαλαρίνας, οπότε η ομάδα σχηματίζεται εκ νέου και αναλαμβάνει την υπόθεση. Η Μία παλεύει κάθε τόσο με τους δαίμονές της και ρίχνεται στην έρευνα, μελετώντας κάθε στοιχείο με τον δικό της ιδιαίτερο τρόπο, που τόσες φορές είχε αποτέλεσμα στο παρελθόν. Κι ενώ προσπαθεί να βρει τις εύθραυστες ισορροπίες της ανάμεσα στη νέα ζωή που προσπαθεί να ζήσει και τις στιγμές που νιώθει αδύναμη και έτοιμη να ξανακυλήσει στον εφιάλτη της, θα κληθεί να αντιμετωπίσει το ενδεχόμενο να έχει ο παρανοϊκός δολοφόνος έχει κάποια σχέση με εκείνη και το παρελθόν της…
Σε σχέση με τα δύο προηγούμενα, ετούτο το βιβλίο του Bjork είναι αυτό που θυμίζει περισσότερο καθαρόαιμο αστυνομικό μυθιστόρημα και λιγότερο ψυχολογικό θρίλερ. Βέβαια, η δομή και το ύφος είναι πάνω κάτω αυτά που έχουμε συνηθίσει: μια περίπλοκη και σκοτεινή υπόθεση, «τυχαία» θύματα, ελάχιστα στοιχεία και ύποπτοι, ένας δολοφόνος που μοιάζει να έχει ένα καλά καταστρωμένο πλάνο. Αυτή τη φορά, απουσιάζει το τόσο έντονα μακάβριο και τελετουργικό στοιχείο. Τώρα, ο αναγνώστης θα πρέπει να περιμένει το τέλος για να διαπιστώσει αν οι πράξεις του δολοφόνου υποκινούνται από κάποιο ψυχολογικό πρόβλημά του ή από κάτι άλλο.
Σε ό,τι αφορά τους ήρωες και την ψυχοσύνθεσή τους, η μεγαλύτερη εξέλιξη που παρατηρείται αφορά φυσικά τη Μία Κρούγκερ. Η άκρως προβληματική και ώρες ώρες αυτοκαταστροφική γυναίκα που γνωρίζαμε μέχρι τώρα φαίνεται να είναι αρκετά καλύτερα – επιτέλους! Δεν έχει καταφέρει να νικήσει όλους τους εφιάλτες της, δεν έχει αφήσει το παρελθόν πίσω της και αντιμετωπίζει στιγμές αδυναμίας, όμως είναι περισσότερο νηφάλια από ποτέ και αποφασισμένη να το παλέψει. Αυτό από μόνο του είναι σίγουρα θετικό τόσο για εκείνη όσο και για τον αναγνώστη, γιατί σε ορισμένα σημεία τα συνεχή συναισθηματικά σκαμπανεβάσματά της κούραζαν. Και, φυσικά, είναι μια πολύ καλή ευκαιρία για τον συγγραφέα ώστε να αποδείξει την ωριμότητα της πένας του σε ό,τι αφορά τα ψυχογραφήματα των ηρώων του.
Στη ζωή του Χόλγκερ Μουνκ και των υπόλοιπων ηρώων δεν υπάρχει καμιά σημαντική διαφοροποίηση. Κάποιος που έχει διαβάσει ήδη τα προηγούμενα βιβλία σίγουρα δεν εκπλήσσεται με την εξέλιξή τους, γιατί τους γνωρίζει πλέον καλά και ξέρει πάνω κάτω τι μπορεί να περιμένει από εκείνους· όποιος όμως έρχεται για πρώτη φορά τώρα σε επαφή μαζί τους, ίσως μείνει με ορισμένες απορίες. Γενικά, φαίνεται πως η εξέλιξη των μόνιμων χαρακτήρων του είναι κάτι που δεν απασχολεί πρωτίστως τον συγγραφέα – με εξαίρεση τη Μία, βέβαια. Προτιμά να εστιάζει στη σκιαγράφηση του προφίλ του εκάστοτε δράστη του.
Ομολογουμένως, η πλοκή είναι πιο σφιχτοδεμένη, η δράση πιο έντονη και οι εξελίξεις πιο αναπάντεχες και ανατρεπτικές. Τα μικρά σε έκταση κεφάλαια -ακόμα ένα χαρακτηριστικό του Bjork- βοηθούν την αφήγηση να διατηρεί τη δυναμική της και μην κάνει κοιλιά. Αλλά και το σασπένς διατηρείται σε υψηλά επίπεδα, μιας και οι γρήγορες εναλλαγές σκηνών και προσώπων προσδίδουν επιπλέον ζωντάνια και μια ισχυρή δόση αγωνίας.
Ο Samuel Bjork έχει ήδη διαμορφώσει τη δική του ξεχωριστή ταυτότητα στον χώρο της σκανδιναβικής λογοτεχνίας. Ιδιαίτερη γραφή, σκοτεινό στυλ, παρανοϊκά μυαλά που σκορπούν ανενδοίαστα τον θάνατο, κίνητρα που αποδεικνύονται λιγότερο ή περισσότερο πειστικά κι ένα τέλος ��ου σε αφήνει λιγάκι ανικανοποίητο κάθε φορά, αφού πάντα ένα κομμάτι της ιστορίας μένει μετέωρο, περιμένοντας τη συνέχεια. Μια πένα που διαρκώς εξελίσσεται και που, αν λάβει κανείς υπόψη του «Το αγόρι στο χιόνι», έχει οπωσδήποτε πολλά ακόμα να μας αφηγηθεί στο μέλλον.

Ιδιαίτερη γραφή, σκοτεινό στυλ, παρανοϊκά μυαλά που σκορπούν ανενδοίαστα τον θάνατο, κίνητρα που αποδεικνύονται λιγότερο ή περισσότερο πειστικά κι ένα τέλος ��ου σε αφήνει λιγάκι ανικανοποίητο κάθε φορά, αφού πάντα ένα κομμάτι της ιστορίας μένει μετέωρο, περιμένοντας τη συνέχεια. Μια πένα που διαρκώς εξελίσσεται και που, αν λάβει κανείς υπόψη του «Το αγόρι στο χιόνι», έχει οπωσδήποτε πολλά ακόμα να μας αφηγηθεί στο μέλλον.

Een ballerina wordt verdronken in een meertje gevonden. Holger Munch en Mia Krüger worden op de zaak gezet. Dan wordt er ook nog een jazzmuzikant vermoord gevonden in zijn appartement. Een 12jarige jongen volgt, gevonden met alleen een zwembroek aan, in de kofferbak van een auto waarin een poppenhuis aan het smeulen is. En ook nog een priester, vermoord in de biechtstoel.
Wie is deze seriemoordenaar? Zijn de slachtoffers echt willekeurig gekozen? Munch en Mia en hun team staan voor een zware opdracht...
Spannend boek, dat makkelijk leest. Op het einde is het wel wat chaotischer, als alles tesamen komt, en er veel tegelijk gebeurt rond de verschillende personages.

"Berniukas sniege" - trečioji serijos apie detektyvą Munką ir detektyvę Mią Kruger dalis. Pirmosios man patiko, tad labai laukiau pasirodant trečiosios. Ir pasirodo, kad laukti buvo tikrai verta.⠀

Ežere randamas jaunos merginos, vilkinčios balerinos kostiumu, lavonas. Keisčiausia tai, kad šalia policija randa ir fotoaparatą bei iš vaikiškos knygos išplėštus lapus. Maža to, panašu, kad mergina į savo mirties vietą atėjo pati. Prabėgus kuriam laikui, atsiranda ir daugiau aukų. Byla iškeliauja į Žmogžudysčių skyrių ir Munkas vėl įkalbina Mią prisijungti prie tyrimo.⠀

Šį kartą man labai patiko Mia. Pagaliau nustojusi svaigintis, verkšlenti ir skaičiuoti jai likusį laiką iki mirties. Knygoje veiksmas sukosi aplink ją ir atrodė, kad Munkas tapo eiliniu antraplaniu veikėju. Gal ir gerai. Mielas jis, bet gana nuobodus. ⠀

Įtampos knygoje buvo, intrigą autorius puikiai išlaikė iki pačių paskutinių skyrių. Žudiko neatspėjau, nes Bjork'as šįsyk susuko viską taip, kad nebuvo už ko užsikabinti. Gal dėl to viskam paaiškėjus, atrodė, kad ir pats žudikas ir jo motyvas nelabai "į temą"..⠀

This is the third book in Holger Munch and Mia Kruger series.
A cold night of 1999, a young boy was found in front of a man's headlights, wearing reindeer's horns on his head.
In April 2013, a young ballet dancer is found dead in a lake my a father and his don that went fishing.
Holger's team start working on this case and the victims start to increase; they are all irrelevant and this confuses the team.
Having read the previous two books, I have to say that author has built the story so good that it drowns you to it.

Είναι πολύ δύσκολο στις μέρες μας να βρεθεί ένα βιβλίο-πόσο μάλλον μια σειρά βιβλίων-αστυνομικό που να ικανοποιεί απόλυτα, μιας και τα τελευταία χρόνια έχει γίνει χαμός με το εν λόγω είδος και κάπου έχει χαθεί ίσως η πρωτοτυπία. Αυτό που με είχε κερδίσει στη σειρά βιβλίων του Samuel bjork, αρχής γενομένης με τον παγωμένο άγγελο και αργότερα με την κουκουβάγια, ήταν ακριβώς αυτο:η πρωτοτυπια τους,τόσο στους "ελαττωματικους" αντιήρωες που είχε για πρωταγωνιστές, όσο και στην ωμη περιγραφή σκηνών τρόμου που έφταναν στο σημείο να σοκάρουν. Αυτά τα 2 στοιχεία όμως μου έλειψαν στο 3ο μέρος της σειράς.. Οι χαρακτήρες, όπως και όλο το βιβλίο, μου έδωσαν την αίσθηση ότι γράφτηκαν βιαστικά και ότι δόθηκε χώρος και χρόνος σε δεύτερους ή και τρίτους χαρακτήρες που δεν άξιζαν τον κόπο.. Το "μυστήριο" και η λύση του δε δημιούργησαν κανένα σασπένς, αλλά αντιθέτως έπεσαν στην παγίδα του κλισέ.. Δυστυχώς κρατάω λίγα πράγματα, ίσως το πρώτο 1/3 του βιβλίου, και πραγματικά εύχομαι αν υπάρξει συνέχεια στη σειρά, να επανέλθει στην αρχική της φόρμα γιατί είχε δείξει πολλά υποσχόμενη..

De jongen in de sneeuw - Samuel Bjørk
Ik gaf het boek 4 sterren.
Fijne thriller, maar toch minder dan deel 1 en 2.
De hoofdrol is voor Mia. Samen met het team probeert ze een logica te vinden achter de vreemde moorden. Wat betekenen de cijfers? Ze worstelt nog steeds met het trauma over haar tweelingzus Sigrid die 10 jaar geleden in een vieze kelder dood gevonden werd. Pas op 2/3 van het boek ging het "los" en toen kon ik ook niet meer stoppen met lezen. Ik moést weten hoe het zat. Het einde vond ik mwah. Niet echt verrassend. Alsof nog even snel alle touwtjes aan elkaar geknoopt moesten worden om het kloppend te maken. Maar ik ben en blijf fan van Munch en Krüger. Dus hopelijk komt er een vervolg.
Nu door met het derde deel van een spannende serie: Donker Water van Robert Bryndza.
Ik ben benieuwd.....

2.5 Una decepción. Una trama que comenzó bien, pero que luego me costó entrar en ella y concentrarme y a medida que iba desarrollándose iba perdiendo fuerza. Escenas que tuve que releer porque no eran claras. Quiero pensar que tal vez fue error en la traducción. Temas que quedaron inconclusos y otros que no aportaron ni llevaron a nada. La historia tras el asesino no se sostiene por ningún lado. De los personajes el único que me gustó fue Holger, porque hasta Mia perdió fuerza.

Δεν ξερω αν έχω απογοητευτει ή αν περιμενα κάτι διαφορετικό. Μετα τα δυο πολύ δυνατά βιβλία του Bjørk Παγωμενος Αγγελος και Κουκουβαγια είχα ισως την προσδοκία για κάτι αντίστοιχο και γιατί όχι ακόμα πιο δυνατό. Το βιβλιο ειναι σίγουρα πιο καλογραμμένο απο τα προηγούμενα. Ο συγγραφέας είναι πιο προσεκτικος και πιο μαζεμένος. Το ύφος του πιο ωριμο. Και εδω έρχεται ενα μεγάλο αλλά, και ενα μεγάλο γιατι. Αν πας στο βιβλίοπωλειο με σκοπό να πάρεις αυτό το βιβλίο χωρίς να εχεις διαβάσει τα προηγούμενα μαλλον εχασες. Δεν θα σε κερδισει. Θα χαθείς στα πολλα ονόματα. Παρολο που οι ιστορίες είναι ανεξάρτητες χρειάζεσαι πολλα στοιχεία για να κατανοήσεις και να κάνεις τις συνδέσεις με το παρελθόν. Το εξαιρετικό ψυχογραφημα της Μια Κρούγκερ και οι αλλαγές στη διάθεσή της δεν θα σε αγγίξουν αν δεν την έχεις ζησει. Εξηγει βέβαια σε κάποια σημεία το παρελθόν όπως και του Χολγκερ αλλα αυτό δεν είναι αρκετο για να σε βοηθήσει να μπεις στην πλοκη. Το μεγαλύτερο μειον του βιβλίου είναι αυτο. Μεγαλα κομμάτια του παρελθόντος που έχουν άμεση σχέση με το τωρα θα σε κουρασουν και θα θες να το βάλεις στην ακρη. Στα συν το κοφτερό μυαλό της Μια και οι σκηνές που μιλάει στον εαυτό της και τα συμπεράσματα αναβοσβήνουν σαν NEON ταμπελες πανω απο το κεφαλι της. Το τέλος μου φάνηκε απότομο, και το κινητρο του δολοφονου δεν με έπεισε και τοσο. Ηταν ξαφνικά σαν να στερεψε ο Bjørk απο ιδέες και πρωτοτυπία. Νιωθω σαν να το ξεπεταξε.

I didn't read the other two books so I was unaware of any back story between some characters. I was totally gripped with page 1 & 2 with an old man of Seventy one travelling alone in his car on Christmas Day in 1996 driving across the mountains on his way home from Oslo, when he thinks it's a creature on the road, when in fact it was a small boy standing on the road. After that scene, with the boy in the road I couldn't read any more where the scenes changed and for me personally the rest of the didn't hold my attention . I wanted the drama to Carry on with more in the chapter with the seventy one year man man finding a boy in the middle of the road.

Net zoals de vorige 2 in de reeks, een topper van formaat.
Deze keer helaas maar 4 sterren, in plaats van 5.
Het begin komt stilletjes op gang, de spanning blijft behouden maat het einde gaat net iets te snel.
Het einde lijkt een beetje afgeraffeld binnen enkele pagina’s. Mocht van mij gerust 20 pagina’s langer!
Al bij al, een mooi en spannend verhaal. Goed geschreven en veel “WTF”-momenten.

Η τρίτη περιπέτεια της Μία Κρούγκερ και του Χόλγκερ Μουνκ, αν και ενδιαφέρουσα όπως και οι δυο προηγούμενες, κατά κάποιον τρόπο αφήνει μια αίσθηση βιασύνης και αταξίας. Στο κείμενο ξεχωρίζεις μιαν αρχή, μια μέση κι ένα τέλος, ωστόσο είναι αρκετά δυσανάλογα μεταξύ τους και, πολλές φορές, αφήνουν αναπάντητα ερωτήματα που δεν είναι σίγουρο ότι ο αναγνώστης θα μπορέσει να επιλύσει μονάχα με την λογική του.
Όταν μια νεαρή μπαλαρίνα εντοπίζεται νεκρή από έναν ψαρά, προκύπτουν διάφορα στοιχεία που φαίνεται να μην ταιριάζουν, όχι μόνο μεταξύ τους αλλά και σε σχέση με το θύμα. Παράλογα μεγάλος αριθμός γενετικών καταλοίπων, παράδοξα σκηνοθετημένο έγκλημα και, τέλος, μια φωτογραφική μηχανή χωρίς κάρτα μνήμης και μ' έναν αριθμό χαραγμένον στο φακό της. Σύντομα ακολουθούν κι άλλες δολοφονίες με τα ίδια χαρακτηριστικά, με τον αριθμό που χαράσσεται στον φακό της φωτογραφικής μηχανής να είναι μεν μεγαλύτερος από τους προηγούμενους, αλλά όχι και η λογική συνέχεια εκείνων των οποίων έπεται. Και ενώ η έρευνα αλλά και οι φόνοι συνεχίζονται, η αστυνομία συνειδητοποιεί ότι έχει να κάνει μ' έναν δράστη πολύ μεγαλύτερου βεληνεκούς απ' ό,τι είχε στην αρχή προβλέψει, με αποτέλεσμα η νορβηγική ��υβέρνηση να έρθει στα πρόθυρα του να ανακηρύξει πως το κράτος βρίσκεται σε κατάσταση εθνικής επιφυλακής.
Νομίζω ότι η μετάφραση είναι ένας από τους λόγους που το κείμενο έχει χάσει την μαγεία του. Κρίνοντας από φράσεις που μεταφράζονται αυτολεξεί αποδίδοντας μια σημασία διαφορετική απ' αυτήν που μάλλον θα έπρεπε να έχει η πρόταση λόγω της στεγνής κυριολεξίας τους, καθώς και από διαλόγους που δεν βγάζουν πολύ νόημα, φαίνεται σαν η μεταγλώττιση να έγινε βιαστικά και χωρίς πολλή προσοχή. Επιπλέον, σε ορισμένα σημεία το διαλογικό κομμάτι, αν και σε μορφή στιχομυθίας, όντως είναι δύσκολο να διατηρήσει μια συνοχή, κι αυτό σίγουρα δεν είναι λάθος του επαγγελματία που ανέλαβε την μετάφραση. Τέλος, όσον αφορά στην πλοκή, το πρόσωπο που εν τέλει καταλήγει να είναι υπεύθυνο για όλες τις δολοφονίες απλώς εμφανίζεται από το πουθενά, φαίνεται σαν να έχει απλώς επιλεγεί στην τύχη και σαν να μην κολλάει ακριβώς στην ιστορία. Η κλιμάκωση στα τελευταία κεφάλαια είναι πολύ συγκεχυμένη και χωρίς ιδιαίτερες εικόνες και συναισθήματα, ενώ ολοκληρώνεται πολύ γρήγορα, πολύ απότομα και χωρίς πολλές εξηγήσεις. Πολλά ερωτήματα αφήνονται αναπάντητα και μερικές παραπλανητικές πληροφορίες δεν σχολιάζονται, κι ας αναφέρθηκαν ως σημαντικές στα πρώτα κεφάλαια του μυθιστορήματος. Ας πούμε, πώς κατέληξε ο πρώτος βασικός ύποπτος στην κατάσταση που τον βρήκε η αστυνομία; Τι απέγινε και ποια ήταν η γυναίκα με το πράσινο κασκέτο, και τι σχέση είχε με τον δράστη και την διάπραξη των φόνων; Ποια ήταν η σχέση των θυμάτων με τον δολοφόνο και πώς επιλέχτηκαν (γιατί με το πρώτο θύμα είχε σίγουρα μια σχέση, οπότε κάτι πρέπει να τον συνδέει και με τα επόμενα); Πώς είναι δυνατόν η Μία, που γνώριζε τον δράστη, να μην τον αναγνώρισε από τα σκίτσα και τις φωτογραφίες της αστυνομίας;
Γενικώς, αν και η πλοκή ήταν πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα, η εκτέλεση ήταν κάπως επιπόλαιη, απογοητευτική. Τα δύο προηγούμενα βιβλία της σειράς με είχαν πραγματικά ενθουσιάσει, γι' αυτό και περίμενα πολλά περισσότερα από τον συγκεκριμένο συγγραφέα. Αν οι προσδοκίες μου δεν ήταν τόσο υψηλές λόγω του πρώτου και του δεύτερου βιβλίου της σειράς, το Αγόρι στο Χιόνι θα μου είχε κάνει σίγουρα μεγαλύτερη εντύπωση· ωστόσο μου φαίνεται πως σε σχέση με τα άλλα αυτό είναι το πιο αδύναμο, και μάλιστα με αξιοσημείωτη διαφορά.

Ας πούμε, πώς κατέληξε ο πρώτος βασικός ύποπτος στην κατάσταση που τον βρήκε η αστυνομία; Τι απέγινε και ποια ήταν η γυναίκα με το πράσινο κασκέτο, και τι σχέση είχε με τον δράστη και την διάπραξη των φόνων; Ποια ήταν η σχέση των θυμάτων με τον δολοφόνο και πώς επιλέχτηκαν (γιατί με το πρώτο θύμα είχε σίγουρα μια σχέση, οπότε κάτι πρέπει να τον συνδέει και με τα επόμενα); Πώς είναι δυνατόν η Μία, που γνώριζε τον δράστη, να μην τον αναγνώρισε από τα σκίτσα και τις φωτογραφίες της αστυνομίας;
Γενικώς, αν και η πλοκή ήταν πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα, η εκτέλεση ήταν κάπως επιπόλαιη, απογοητευτική. Τα δύο προηγούμενα βιβλία της σειράς με είχαν πραγματικά ενθουσιάσει, γι' αυτό και περίμενα πολλά περισσότερα από τον συγκεκριμένο συγγραφέα. Αν οι προσδοκίες μου δεν ήταν τόσο υψηλές λόγω του πρώτου και του δεύτερου βιβλίου της σειράς, το Αγόρι στο Χιόνι θα μου είχε κάνει σίγουρα μεγαλύτερη εντύπωση· ωστόσο μου φαίνεται πως σε σχέση με τα άλλα αυτό είναι το πιο αδύναμο, και μάλιστα με αξιοσημείωτη διαφορά.

Φτάσαμε αισίως στο τρίτο βιβλίο της σειράς με ήρωες τον Χόλγκερ Μουνκ και τη Μία Κρούγκερ και μπορούμε πλέον να πούμε πως πρόκειται για μια πιο ολοκληρωμένη και ώριμη ιστορία.

Είναι μια καλοδεχούμενη εξέλιξη για τον ίδιο αλλά και για τους περισσότερους από την ομάδα, η οποία βρισκόταν υπό καθεστώς διάλυσης, μετά την τελευταία τους υπόθεση. Στο ίδιο πλαίσιο, η ερευνήτρια Μία Κρούγκερ, έχει αποφασίσει να φύγει για διακοπές στην Καραϊβική, να ηρεμήσει κα να βρει τον εαυτό της. Από τη στιγμή όμως που θα δει φωτογραφίες από τον τόπο του εγκλήματος, δεν θα μπορέσει να μην πάρει μέρος στην έρευνα. Όσο η υπόθεση προχωράει, τόσο πιο πολύ μπλεγμένη φαίνεται να είναι.
Χρονικά βρισκόμαστε κάποιους μήνες μετά το τέλος του προηγούμενου βιβλίου και την περιπέτεια της κουκουβάγιας, που είχε φέρει τα πάνω κάτω στην ομάδα. Ο Μουνκ προσπαθεί να ξεπεράσει τα όσα συνέβησαν, μαζί με την κόρη του που υπέφερε πολύ, αλλά και την εγγονή του που επιτέλους τη γνωρίζει. Όσο και αν προσπαθούν να το παίξουν ευτυχισμένη οικογένεια, ο χρόνος δεν πρόκειται να κυλήσει προς τα πίσω, οπότε όσο πιο γρήγορα μπουν όλα σε μια λογική σειρά, τόσο το καλύτερο. Τουλάχιστον φαίνεται πως έχει αποκατασταθεί η επικοινωνία και η σχέση του με την κόρη του. Είναι όμως έτοιμος να επιστρέψει στη δράση.
Από την άλλη η Μία Κρούγκερ έχει πάρει κάποιες αποφάσεις όσον αφορά στη ζωή της και τι θέλει από το μέλλον. Η νέα υπόθεση και το δαιμόνιο της ερευνήτριας που την τσιγκλάει μονίμως δεν την αφήνουν να υλοποιήσει απευθείας τα όσα θα ήθελε. Είναι όμως πιο νηφάλια από ποτέ. Έχει κόψει το αλκοόλ και τις επισκέψεις στα μπαρ της περιοχής, παρά μόνο για καφέ και μεταλλικό νερό. Παρότι νηφάλια, μπορεί και πάλι να χαθεί στον κόσμο της, εκεί που παίρνουν μορφή όλα τα στοιχεία κάθε υπόθεσης και την οδηγούν προς κάποιο συμπέρασμα, ίσως απλά να δυσκολεύεται λίγο περισσότερο να χαθεί, αλλά τα καταφέρνει και πάλι. Ουσιαστικά λοιπόν, τίποτα δεν χάνεται από την αγαπημένη ηρωίδα, αντίθετα, βλέπουμε ότι δεν χρειάζεται οπωσδήποτε τη βοήθεια του αλκοόλ για να είναι ο εαυτός της κι αυτό είναι πολύ καλό.

Όταν οι φόνοι θα ακολουθούν ο ένας τον άλλο, με φαινομενικά ασύνδετα στοιχεία και θύματα που δεν έχουν σχέση μεταξύ τους, θα ψάξουν όλα τα στοιχεία που μπορούν να βρουν μέχρι να καταλάβουν τι μπορεί να συμβαίνει. Όλοι οι παλιοί γνώριμοι είναι εκεί και δουλεύουν και πάλι σαν ομάδα, προστατεύοντας και βοηθώντας ο ένας τον άλλον. Δεν είναι τεράστια η ανάλυση κάθε χαρακτήρα ξεχωριστά, ή εμβάθυνση, παρά μόνο στο βαθμό που εξυπηρετεί την ιστορία. Ο Bjørk αρέσκεται περισσότερο στο να αναλύει την ιστορία του.

Hoy he terminado este thriller psicológico y nórdico, muy atrapante, que aunque los casos son independientes pertenece a una serie que comienza con "Viajo sola" y a la que le sigue " El búho", siendo esta novela la última.
Vuelvo a leer a este autor, porque sus novelas anterior me dejaron alucinadas, y hoy en día puedo decir que ha sido mi autor preferido de este año. Sus novelas son entretenidas, y su personaje Mia tiene algo que te acaba encantando, sus mantas, sus problemas y su manera de entender las cosas y resolver todo lo que se le pone por delante de una manera tan excepcional.
La novela comienza con una joven bailarina, muerta en un lago, asesinada por la inyección de anticongelante directamente en el corazón. A lo largo de la novela aparecen mas muertos, y se dan cuenta que están ante otro asesino en serie muy sofisticado, el cual asesina sin ningún criterio, lo que complicará mucho mas las cosas.
La narración y el estilo del autor sigue siendo impecable:conecta con el lector desde un prólogo que nadie conoce y sólo el lector sabrá conectar los asesinatos con ese enigmático encuentro de un señor con un niño en la nieve con una cornamenta. Pero aunque sepamos más que los personajes no podemos entender la razón ni quién se esconde detrás de ese asesino meticuloso. El estilo, como decía, es sencillo y muy ágil con mucho diálogo, con multitud de cambios, y con la rapidez necesaria para no aburrir y seguir leyendo muy metida en la novela.
Aunque he de decir que me ha parecido una novela a la altura de las anteriores y a decir verdad la trama me ha parecido realmente buena, el final me ha dejado algo fría. Me ha gustado mucho como hace un giro excelente y nos encoge el corazón en varias ocasiones, pero me ha parecido muy corto, algo rápido y que podía haber dado mucho más de lo que ha dado. Me ha faltado explicaciones, que se hubiera adentrado más en el fondo del asesino que a mi juicio tenía mucho y podía haber jugado más por ese lado aunque se hubiera excedido en alargar la historia...
Aun así, me ha encantado, y recomiendo su lectura si te gusta el thriller..

This is the third in the series featuring Holger Munch and Mia Kruger. The first book was, “I’m Travelling Alone,” and the second was, “The Owl Always Hunts at Night.”
I loved, “I’m Travelling Alone,” but was a little more reserved about its sequel, so I was interested to read this. For those familiar with the characters, there are still the same issues surrounding the main characters. Holger Munch is still, unrealistically, hoping to reunite with his wife and Mia Kruger is still obsessed with her dead twin sister. That aside, I did feel this was a much better read than the previous novel, with a strong serial killer story, alongside that involving the members of the team.
The beginning of this novel really sets the atmosphere, as does the discovery of a body in a lake – a young ballet dancer, found still in her dance costume. As the body count grows, Holger Munch is dispirited by the involvement of outside agencies, and his lack of control in the investigation. The author really keeps the pace going with this novel and he manages to embrace all of the members of the unit, not just Munch and Kruger. I thought the writing was excellent - there were lots of clever touches and interesting characters, such as the rather annoying journalist, who you end up feeling sorry for, and I enjoyed Curry’s greater involvement in this book.
Overall, I feel that the author has written a novel which is easily as good as his debut and, having got past that difficult, second novel, in a series, is back on top form. I look forward to reading more in this series and recommend this instalment in the series highly. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, for review.

Having read and loved the first two books in this series, I was delighted to be able to read this one!
We’re back with Holger and Mia in The Boy in the Headlights as they recover from the events of The Owl Always Hunts at Night. They each had a lot to deal with and are doing so in their own way.
When a body is found at a mountain lake, they are called in to investigate. But as with all good crime novels, the body count inevitably rises. As Holger and Mia work to find out who is leaving them clues at each scene, they find themselves drawn in deeper into the killer’s game at every turn. What follows is a game of murderous cat and mouse that delves into their pasts while simultaneously threatening their future.
I really like the pairing between these two detectives, it shouldn’t work, but it does. Both have their own flaws and foibles, but they know each other well enough to push past them and focus on the job at hand.
The Boy in the Headlights is another excellent addition to the series. A gripping plot, dark characters and great writing make this a highly absorbing read.
If you like your Scandi crime (as we all know, I LOVE it), this is a series you need to add to your TBR!

Onbegrijpelijk........
Zo genoten van de eerste 2 delen. Bij dit boek vraag ik me af of dit uberhaupt dezelfde auteur is...
Waarom veranderen auteurs hun schrijfstijl? Komt dit omdat ze dan meer boeken verkopen? Moeten thrillers tegenwoordig meer romans zijn? Al dat prive "gezeur" van de teamleden, al die innerlijke dialogen!?!
Mijn lijstje van goede thriller auteurs word zo wel heel kort ben ik bang...
Terug naar dit boek;
Vond het alles behalve spannend. Dit omdat de focus dus ligt op het team en hun prive levens en bijster weinig op de zaak. Vele innerlijke dialogen. Ook zitten er veel hoofdstukken tussen met personages die uiteindelijk totaal niks aan het verhalen toevoegen.
Een grote teleurstelling dus...
PS als iemand nog tips heeft voor goede thrillers die aan mijn wensen voldoen hoor ik het graag :)

Un libro de #lectura ágil que se #lee muy rápido pero que a mí me decepcionó mucho.
Un final apresurado, cosas sin aclarar y sobre todo escenas que no acaba de contar que eso a mí me pone de muy mala leche.
En fin que no lo recomiendo.

Un final apresurado, cosas sin aclarar y sobre todo escenas que no acaba de contar que eso a mí me pone de muy mala leche.
En fin que no lo recomiendo.

El Niño en la Nieve forma parte de una serie de libros escritos por Samuel Bjørk y que tienen como protagonistas a los detectives Holger Munch y Mia Krüger. Yo me lancé a leer este sin haber leído los dos anteriores, principalmente porque no sabía que se tratara de una saga, y lo cierto es que, aunque se puede leer perfectamente como libro autoconclusivo, sí que he sentido en ciertas partes que me faltaba información. El autor se esfuerza en darte los datos claves de los libros anteriores para entender toda la historia, pero para mí no ha sido suficiente. Es por esto por lo que recomendaría leer los libros en orden de publicación (Viajo Sola, El Búho y El Niño en la Nieve).
El inicio del libro me pareció un tanto abrumador, pues el autor introduce multitud de personajes de una manera muy seguida y casi no me daba tiempo de asimilar quién era quién. El narrador es en tercera persona y va siguiendo a todos y cada uno de los personajes involucrados en la historia, desde detectives y testigos, hasta sospechosos. De esta manera contamos con muchísima información, lo que nos permite ir generando nuestras propias teorías. Uno de los puntos negativos que para mí tiene el libro, es que hay demasiados personajes, algunos incluso sólo aparecen durante un capítulo y no se vuelve a saber más de ellos. Es como si el autor quisiera jugar al despiste con el lector introduciendo personajes que no tienen relevancia para el desarrollo de la historia ni la resolución del caso.
También, hacia el final tenía la impresión de que me había perdido algo porque no entendía muy bien lo que estaba pasando. Hasta tuve que leer varias veces una misma escena porque no me quedaba clara (Esto quizás sea más problema de la traducción que del autor). La resolución del caso no me ha terminado de convencer y es que me ha resultado muy aleatoria y además bastante cliché.
Sin duda, para mí el punto fuerte de esta historia es la manera en la que está contada, pues te permite sumergirte en los pensamientos de los protagonistas. Casi sientes que estás invadiendo su privacidad. Más en concreto con el personaje de Mia, Bjørk muestra su flujo de pensamientos, cómo estos se van enlazando. El lector puede ser testigo de la capacidad de análisis del detalle que realiza Mia. Se aprecia el torrente de pensamientos, y cómo esta va uniendo todas las piezas del puzzle.
En general, El Niño en la Nieve es un libro que aunque me ha gustado, me ha sabido a poco. El caso que se presenta es interesante, pero creo que se le podría haber sacado mucho más partido. Los protagonistas pierden fuerza a medida que se suceden las páginas, y la resolución del caso me ha dejado bastante fría. Quizás le dé una oportunidad a los dos libros anteriores, porque tengo entendido que son mucho mejores que este.

When the body of a ballet dancer, in full costume, is found dead in a remote lake the special unit is reactivated. Munch and Krüger have hardly got going when more bodies are discovered. The team is stumped but gradually start to build a picture.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Boy in the Headlights which is a slow burn of a read with an imaginative killer and some surprising twists and turns. The novel opens in 1990 with an old man driving home through remote countryside and finding a young boy with reindeer antlers tied to his head, the eponymous boy in the headlights. How he ties in to the rest of the plot only becomes clear later in the novel but it’s ingenious. The rest of the novel is set in the present, involving the hunt for a serial killer. I found it gripping and compulsive from the unusual killing method and investigative practices to the more mundane than you would guess motive through a series of well drawn vignettes of reactions to the investigation like the reporter and the general. It makes for a cohesive whole.
I like the characters too who are very human and frail. Holger Munch whose life outside work revolves around his family and still hopes to get back with his ex wife even though she’s married to someone else. Hope or delusion? Whatever, his customary good sense evades him on that subject. Mia Krüger is a more complex character. A brilliant investigator given to flashes of genius who always moves the investigation on she is precarious mentally. Suicide and death are never far from her thoughts and she struggles with alcohol and prescription drug dependencies, longing to join her dead twin, Sigrid. There are, however, green shoots of survival in this novel. She has ditched the drink and drugs and her determination to get to the bottom of Sigrid’s death suggest a desire to move on. I found her ups and downs very relatable and have nothing but praise for her portrayal. It is moving and all too human.
The Boy in the Headlights really hit the spot for me so I have no hesitation in recommending it as a great read.

Ik vind dit boek tegenvallen vergeleken met de andere twee. Deel 1 was echt heel goed. Deel 2 was iets minder goed, maar nog steeds leuk om te lezen. Dit deel deed me weinig. Het pakte me niet. Het verhaal leest vlot, maar is totaal niet spannend. Het einde is afgeraffeld. Ook erger ik mij er aan dat alles om Mia draait. Als er ooit een vierde deel komt, weet ik niet of ik die ga lezen. Veel auteurs worden beter na mate ze meer boeken schrijven. Bij Samuel Bjørk is dat juist het tegenovergestelde. Jammer, want ik had meer van dit boek verwacht.

I dont really get this book. Its so tense and weird. You hope that the ending will be awesome, but then it becomes lame and predictable. Liked the first two books better!

Predilecția mea pentru literatură nordică a luat ființă, cred, pe când aveam vreo 19 ani. În mâinile mele nimerise un roman de Anne Holt, care țin minte că mă ținuse trează mult timp. Devoram titlurile unul după altul, încercând să descopăr optica răului în toate formele sale, nordicii fiind fantastici la acest capitol. Iată că și această cronică se dedică unui norvegian, pe numele său Frode Sander Øien. Nu-ți spune nimic acest nume? Hmm, dar dacă menționez pseudonimul Samuel Bjørk? Bingo! Deja lucrurile devin mult mai fierbinți.
Samuel Bjørk este un autor din Norvegia, cu o listă impunătoare de romane crime și piese de teatru, pe care l-am descoperi prin intermediul volumului „Băiatul din lumina farurilor”, tradus de Liliana Pelici, la editura Rao, în 2021.
Imaginează-ți că într-un oraș calm apare un criminal în serie care ucide, se pare, absolut la întâmplare o serie de victime. Pare să fie obsedat de cinematografia omuciderii, deoarece fiecare nouă scenă a crimei seamănă izbitor cu o piesă dramatică: de la balerina înecată pe fundul unui lac și până la băiatul în slipi care e mort într-o mașină, pe bancheta căreia arde o casă de păpuși. Ce vrea să spună prin aceste fapte criminalul? De ce e nevoie să facă toate aceste acțiuni, ucigându-și, într-un final victimele cu o injecție de antigel drept în inimă?
În căutarea infractorului pornește detectivul Munch, însoțit de temerara Mia Kruger. Acest duo pare să ia lumea în piept doar pentru a descâlci firele încurcate ale acestei istorii tenebre. Deși disfuncțional la prima vedere, Mia luptă cu depresia după moartea surorii gemene, iar Munch iese șifonat dintr-o căsnicie și suferă pentru fiica sa rămasă invalidă după atacul unui alt criminal, acest tandem pare să se descurce cu orice fel de puzzle. Intuiția ascuțită, atenția la detalii, nevoia de dreptate – iată doar câteva dintre elementele pe care cei doi le pun la baza anchetei lor.
Romanul „Băiatul din lumina farurilor” este un adevărat deliciu pentru cititorii care caută o porție de adrenalină. Se citește rapid, este scris cu o mână viguroasă și hotărâtă. Se pare că Samuel Bjørk vrea să transpună ideea de rău malefic în forma sa cea mai inventivă, obsesivă, distrugătoare.
Cred că e o demonstrație evidentă de talent să bagi în peste 400 de pagini, cât are cartea, o serie de evenimente fulminante, obscure, să ridici subiecte sensibile precum e consumul de droguri, alcoolismul sau nevoia de a rezista în fața unei societăți care pare să pice în plasa ispitelor zilnic.
Bjørk e un observator fin al naturii umane, iar felul în care ridică și lasă cortina în narațiunea sa, metoda cu care își inventează ritmicitatea scrierii, toate conferă acestui roman acea rețetă a succesului, pe care cu greu o prind alți autori.
Dacă sunteți în căutarea unui roman care v-ar asigura nițică insomnii și v-ar ține în priză, atunci sigur această recomandare vi se va potrivi. Eu mi-am promis să citesc cam tot ce a scris acest autor, mai ales în pauzele de gândire, când avem nevoie să ne detașăm de realitate și să ne lăsăm pradă senzațiilor tari.
