New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge became a fan favorite in his rookie season with the team. This title's reader-friendly text, critical thinking questions, and bright design will attract young baseball fans.
honestly was not expecting much from this book and i feel like it is hard to rate so im j going to give it a 2.5/5 bc i also spent 2mins listening to it being read to me on libby LOL there is not much to complain abt bc there def was not great investment into this.... // interesting to learn that aaron judge was taller than most kids his age when he was young (and i hv j went and googled his height and tell me why the man is 2m tall?!?! no wonder he can catch all those fly balls dude that's crazy) and apparently he played basketball also when he was young (which totally makes sense now that i know his height) // think there were 2 qns posed in this book of 1. what makes people play sports? and 2. what makes someone a good teammate/ team player AND HONESTLY THOSE ARE SUCH REAL QUESTIONS i feel like bumping this rating up to a 4 now... how can these qns hit me so hard at this point of time in my life.... WHY! AND WHAT! pls discuss. // but also how cool bc i think he has only ever played for the yankees and we love a man w loyalties!!! // he is the homerun king but i saw him hit zero homeruns and all he did was walk when we watched his match but it is ok.... HAHHA
I was asked to "listen" to a grouping of several audiobooks, all nonfiction, and all geared for super young readers. I was then asked to give some honest feedback to a librarian about these books. My gut feeling, they realize the audiobook versions of what (may) be decent early reader books are garbage.
This is one of those books. The audiobook is garbage. Slow, slow, slow -- you can crank it up to 2x the speed and it is still slow. They really want to make those 3 minutes count!
Why was this so slow? There's a question this audiobook needed to ask itself. It asks other questions, leaving space for a kid to answer. However, if you're at home alone, I mean... this concept doesn't work well in this setting.
Also, not a lot of great information about Aaron Judge. All pretty basic things. Not for someone that wants to really 'delve' into him or his career. Very... young. Super young.
i was blessed with the opportunity to listen to the audiobook, and let me just say...
the narrator has a FANNN-TASSSSS-TICCCC voice! no other audiobook that i have ever listened to has brought me this much joy before <3 she reads at such a great pace, and i was so sad when the book was over :(
and dont even get me started on the content! this book did SUCHHHHH a deep dive into aaron judge's life, i was so surprised they managed to fit so much information in!!!
the best thing you could do is take 3 minutes and 24 seconds out of your day to listen to this masterpiece of a book
I understand this was for the younger generation to be inspired by one of the greatest players of our time right now, but this was not good. The writing wasn't set well against what someone might already know and tell their kids about Aaron Judge and there wasn't enough facts for me to support this little book. It's unfortunate because something like this should be good, but this wasn't.
I read this to see it if was as bad as the book about Simone Biles written by the same author and it was. It had a bit more important info than the Simone book but still very lacking.
