Intrusion is a short story. Contrary to what many nonwriters believe, writing a great short story is way more difficult than writing a novel or even a novella. It takes a talented author to write an exciting short story, and Ted Galdi is a master storyteller. Intrusion opens with Cory receiving a text message from his wife Linda two minutes before he has to enter a schedule onstage debate. He doesn’t have time to text her back and ask her to clarify “Did you see a cockroach this morning?” The text worries him, has him guessing at what it could mean and it has us, the reader, guessing about its meaning right along with him. After the debate ends and he texts her back, he gets no reply. Why? We wonder right along with Cory. The tension is building at a fever pace now as we near the halfway point in the story.
An hour later, on I-95, he gets another text message from Linda, “I thought I saw someone earlier. How did the debate with that Lady Liberty Guy go?” Nothing about a bug. What does seeing someone have to do with a cockroach? The tension continues to build as, five minutes later, he exits I-95 and turned onto his street.
Cory arrives home to find someone had broken into his home, to find a man trying to get at his wife. Cory, who had never been in a fight in his life, attacks the man who is trying to assault the woman he loves. In the end… well, you’ll just have to read this story for yourself to find out.
Another one finished! Did I like it? Of course I did! Was I scared, frightened, was I in a "holey crap" caught up in the moment? Not so much... Oh,the story is good don't get me wrong! But I didn't have the heart pounding, throat grabbing feeling here as I did with the others. Don't worry,Ted is still! On my authors list of good reading!! --P/
Another great story. Couldn't put it down. Read it in one sitting. Someday an anthology of stories would be nice. I have read all of Ted Galdi's books and stories and have enjoyed them all. I particularly liked Lion on Fire and American Cage.
In this thrilling short story, a self help guru gets insights into his life after he receives a cryptic message from his wife and leaves from his best professional day to confront an unexpected visitor.
This author certainly can write short stories! So few pages, but he manages to get the suspense and twist in quite successfully. I will read more by this author.
