On a remote mining station, Nyalin hides a secret that would make her a hunted woman—she is a Crystal Keeper, a protector of a shard of the powerful Starfire crystal. However, when a strange shuttle falls through a portal near the mining station, she can no longer avoid her responsibilities. The human pilot, Vellin, is part of a research team that has developed gateways for instant travel anywhere in the universe without requiring a Starfire crystal, and he has been followed by an enemy through the portal.
To stop dangerous forces from possessing the gateways to spread destruction, Nya must team up with Vel and risk exposing her secret. In their race to destroy the gateways, they will find allies and enemies... and a new reason to worry.

They know of.humans , but humans don't have space travel and are in a different galaxy. This author has no concept of the vastness of space and the.billions of stars just in milky way.

My first time reading this author and I find this a sweeping space opera full of action and adventure enough to keep you reading till the end and wanting more.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this book. After reading many books I was quite surprised to find a sci_fi book so well thought out and extraordinarily well put together. It kept me glued to the story for hours. Couldn't put it down. The characters were clearly described, their roles played out like a symphony with the author as the conductor. This would make a fantastic movie. I recommend this book to every lover of fantastic worlds because this one is the standard by which all sci fi should be judged. Not since the giants of the genre have I seen a master at work. I hope the rest of the series is as engrossing as this first foray into the forgotten worlds. Kudos.
This is an excellent sci-fi that is perfect-paced with plenty of action. I love this book. I was hooked immediately/from the start wanting to know what happens to Nya and Vel. This is beautifully written with an awesome cast of characters. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

The author has developed a fascinating concept for worlds for her many books. The main characters in this story deal with many complications by blending their many talents. Her writing could be the source of fabulous movies. But I am content with the books.
This is a very good book. It is captivating although not all engrossing. It is very well written and edited. The main characters are enjoyable and have a lot of depth.
I appreciate that the author did not feel the need to resort to foul language nor political correctness to tell a good story.
It took a few pages to get into this book but it was well worth it. I enjoyed the characters and story but I have trouble with names sometimes because I think that though they are fictional I still have to try and pronounce them correctly. That made it harder to focus on the story sometimes, but that's just me I guess.
This is my first time reading this author, and being married to a published author with 40+ books published, I tend to be somewhat critical of what I read, but I find this book a fun read, and a bit different than other sci-fi books. I'm eagerly waiting for the rest of the series!
This is a sequel series to the authors previous series, Starfire Angels dark Angel chronicles. Despite this being my first time with this author it's a great character driven story full of compelling action and a great setup for the rest of the series.

A New Beginning is reasonably well written, and it definitely held my interest. I would have given it 4-stars except that it was such a short book? It seemed like more of a short story than a stand-alone novel. I suspect the author is leaning toward writing short books to sell more books in her series? I'm not sure I like that idea, and feel vaguely cheated. . .
I got this ebook in a Goodreads Giveaway. Good space opera with scenes that remind me of the saloon scenes in Star Wars. The characters are well drawn with some mystery to them. Action is good and I found myself pushing them to the next place. Recommended.
This is a very decent start to the new Starfire Angels series. These are new characters, but they are within a decade of the previous series and there are crossovers from the last series. I enjoyed this book.
Avery good start to what appears to be an interesting series. You have intrigue, mystery, action, and a budding romance, and the author ties all these elements into a beautiful woven story.
Not bad at all! It took me a few chapters to get into it but I enjoyed it overall. I had a hard time in the beginning understanding the world but the more I read the more I caught on. Interesting ending.
A scientist helps create a portal and escapes through it to a faraway galaxy where he finds angels. They are just as beautiful as the the legends describe them.
Received via Goodreads Giveaway in exchange for an honest review. This first entry in the series fails to make me curious about the second. It also is riddled with poor syntax and typographical errors, combines a figuratively-speaking Manichean ethos with a failure to -show- us why our heroes are the Heroes and the villains are the Villains .. ok, put briefly mentioning one problem risks suggesting that it is the only or worst problem. There is some terrific Space Opera out this year, this decade even. This isn’t it.
