When her sons meet the lazy cat next door and fall heads over tails for him, she’ll do whatever she takes to protect them—even from a past she’d thought she’d left behind.

Then he meets Anya and the burn of temptation is silky and tantalizing indeed. When a horror from Anya’s past threatens everything she loves, Cole will put everything aside and fight for her family—as well as his own.

The World: Earth 25 years after the Verona virus that nearly wiped out most of the human population. Shifters had come out of hiding to offer their blood as an antidote which brought the virus to an end. Shifters then ended up branded, collared and forced to live like animals in small compounds for each type of shifter (canine, ursine, and feline), though recently as a punishment, all three types have been forced onto one small compound. Humans and the SAU (Shifter Accommodation Unit) keep enacting new laws that threaten the shifters even more.
ABANDONED
The Hero:Cole - he is a jaguar shifter and a tracker for his pack. He does his best to keep his pack safe. Now that his pack shares territory with ursine and canine shifters, he has been participating in the cage fights between packs which have been keeping the tensions under control. Other than that, he likes to lay around and take it easy, though he is fine if a willing woman comes by and offers to take care of his other needs. A few bear cubs have been hanging around him and their mother bear, a female named Anya, doesn’t like him at all and really dislikes like her boys spending time with him.
The heroine:Anya - she mated the wrong man and was left with nothing but two troublemaking cubs when he took off. Frank Talbot had been one of the medical professionals who had studied their pack, but he hadn’t been willing to be labeled a shifter lover. In the two weeks since her bear shifter pack has been combined with the wolves and cats, she has had to track down her errant cubs more than once. She is not happy when she finds them again in Cole’s yard. She thinks he is nothing more than a lazy cat.
The Story: Cole kept telling himself that he didn’t care about the pretty Anya, but when another male comes up with her to find her cubs in his yard. Though some of the tension eases when he sees it is Anya’s brother Oliver, the seer of the bear pack. Anya feels like she doesn’t have much control over her own life. After watching her babies get branded, she feels like she can’t trust anyone but herself and her brother. She knew that her children were her responsibility, and she took that responsibility seriously.
Frank Talbot was a scientist, a self professed genius, and he had been forced into back alleys and abandoned warehouses to do his research. He had been studying the beasts for a while and had even used his own body to procreate with one of them. After the SAU kicked him out, he was on his own to find a way to create shifters. He wanted to find a way to create shifters and make an army of his own or sell it to someone willing to pay for for it. He decided to use his own children with the female bear as his live samples. He even thought it was perfect that there was a pair of them, that way he had a spare, in case one died due to his experiments.
This series has had some really in-depth stories for shorter books, and though the SAU is the major ongoing villain in the stories, each story has also had specific villains like Frank who have been after something specific to use for their own purposes. I have been really enjoying the romantic suspense and the steamy romances so far and this book is no different. Cole and Anya’s tension-filled relationship, plus the added complexity of Anya’s cubs and her past with Frank, makes for an emotionally charged story.
I love how the series balances high-stakes conflict with romance—the cage fights, the forced branding, and the overarching danger from both systemic oppression and personal villains like Frank add so many layers to the narrative.
UNSEEN
The Hero:Tucker - He is a polar bear shifter and is one of the “unseen”. The unseen are shifters who stayed hidden after all the other shifters were rounded up and put onto compounds where the SAU keeps them behind fences and guards them like they are animals. The unseen pack are busy out in the world working agains the SAU, trying to find definitive proof that it was the SAU that created the Verona virus, and it was shifters that ended it using their own blood to save everyone.
The heroine:Nicole - she is a wolf shifter from the river pack and years ago her son was murdered by humans and the only thing she lives for now is to cause havoc and make the SAU pay for that death. She dug her own tunnel under the fences and escapes whenever possible to sabotage anything she can that the SAU owns. She keeps planning bigger and more devastating outings to burn down buildings, ruin their fleet of cars and/or steal them or whatever else she can do.
The Story: On the anniversary of her son’s death, Nicole slips away and goes to the SAU facility that one of her pack mates found recently. She wants to do as much damage as she can to the SAU who were responsible for her five-year-old son's murder. However, Tucker and his pack of unseen shifters are trying to take the SAU down from the inside. He and his mates have been hired as guards for the SAU and have been gathering evidence for months, so when Nicole shows up one night, he can’t let her ruin what they have been doing.
Tucker turns Nicole away and she pretends to go but is planning all along to just lose him and circle back around. Though after the pretty wolf shifter leaves, Tucker can’t seem to forget her. He definitely doesn’t believe she was just going for a walk in those particular woods at that time of night, and he could smell that she was a shifter, so he knows she should be back at her compound.
This setup is gripping! Tucker and Nicole have such strong, opposing approaches to the fight against the SAU, which makes their dynamic crackle with tension. He’s playing the long game, infiltrating the system to gather proof, while she’s driven by pure, devastating loss and wants immediate destruction. The contrast in their methods could lead to some really compelling conflicts—and maybe grudging respect.
This audiobook was narrated from multiple perspectives, done in solo narration by Aiden Snow. I absolutely love Aiden’s voice, it is deep, but soft and I could listen to him all day. He is one of the few narrators that I don’t mind at all listening to as solo narration. He does a terrific job. He has a voice that could make reading a grocery list sound dramatic. His ability to carry multiple perspectives solo added a lot of depth to the experience.
The blurb gives the basics of the story. Because of her past, Anya isn't interested in a relationship, especially with Cole. Unfortunately, crap happens that Cole and Anya end up facing together and the situation prompts Anya to take a better look at Cole and realize his worth. It's a good story and I liked how things got worked out, ending with Anya and Cole together and as happy as possible (considering their situation).
Unseen Time: 3:21-6:54
This was an enjoyable story. I liked both Tucker and Nicole and was happy to see them get a happy ending. This story was a bit different from the previous ones because Tucket is a shifter that's not locked in a compound. He and his pack are free and operate undercover to help the captive shifters. There were a couple points in the story that weren't perfect but I liked it overall and had no major complaints. Although it could still go wrong if they're found out, Nicole and Tucker do get a more substantial HEA than previous couples so it was a very nice ending. :)
These 2 stories were both stories I enjoyed, even if the non-romantic subject matter isn't always the easiest to deal with. It is pretty engaging though and I like the characters so I will be continuing the series to see what happens. :D
* note - I listened to the audio version of these stories and the narrator did a very good job.
It's been just a couple weeks after Sorin and Cora were held captive and escaped, with the help of the Unseen, from the ASU Center. And the new punishment is the adding of the Ursine (Bear) shifters into the already cramped enclosure where the Canine and Feline Shifters are living.
Anya Dare is very protective of her four-year-old twin bear cub shifters, Owen and Lucas, who seem to have a fascination with the Jaguar Shifter, Cole McDermott, and the felines best tracker. She doesn't like this. Not only because this is a new environment and she wants to make sure her boys are safe, but also because after she let herself be taken in by the American scientist who fathered her boys and then left her. She doesn't understand her intense feelings for Cole and doesn't like the boys around him.
Cole may seem lazy, which is want Anya calls him. He's not. It's just his style to seem calm and relaxed, though he's always on alert. He see's nothing wrong with the twins sneaking out to play with his tail and try their hunting skills on him.
When the boys are kidnapped from the compound, he and Anya set off to find them and discover that the two of them are more connected than they care to admit.
They will do anything, even risking their own lives, to get the twins back.
Unseen
As different shifters are taken to the ASU Center, they discover that there are what are called "The Unseen" who are working undercover with the human, trying to find proof to show all of the other humans that they didn't cause the Venora Virus, that it was man made, and that the Shifters are being treated like animals.
Tucker Stone is an Unseen. He's a polar bear shifter who catches wolf shifter, Nicole Bradley, on the anniversary of her son's death in the woods near the ASU Center. In Tuckers effort to keep her safe and from ruining their undercover operations, he keeps he close and comes to realize she's his mate.
Nicole has felt the pain of her son's death for seven years since it happened. She only has one more guard to find and she's determine to get her revenge on the anniversary of her son's murder. But this big, gorgeous, Polar Bear Shifter keeps getting in her way and he makes her feel for the first time since her son died.
Tucker helps her come to terms with how she's been living her life. Nicole helps the Unseen find out more information about the ASU, getting them all closer to the proof they need to prove what the ASU are really doing.
I liked this one much better than the first book. It took some time to get used to having two interconnected stories in each book. I loved the character of Tucker Stone. I wanted more of he and Nicole. I really liked their story.
The one thing I mentioned in the last book, Stolen and Forgiven, is what makes me a little nuts is that the main story is still hanging. I need to know what's happening with the ASU and how the Shifters are planning to fight back... if they are going to fight back. How many books are in this series? What happened with Mira and Sinclair? Are they the next book? Too much left hanging. I'm not opposed to cliffhangers, but this is making me crazy.
Maybe it's making me want to read more and more. I don't know. We will see when the next installment is release if I decide to continue.
After the SAU (Sifter Accommodation Unit) forced the Ursines, the Canines and the Felines to live together in one compound everyone knew that life was bound to become harder. No one understands that better than Anya Dare, a bear shifter and single mother to twin bear cubs, Owen and Lucas.
Anya already has a difficult time trying to keep up with the cubs especially since their favorite hobby is playing with the tail of a very lazy jaguar shifter, Cole McDermott. Cole realizes that he shouldn’t encourage the twin monsters play with his tail all day long but he misses children and he would never say no to them. What he can’t understand is why their mother Anya seems to hate him so much.
All their differences are pit aside when Anya’s cubs go missing and Cole will do anything to find them.
I loved how the attraction between Anya and Cole was there from the beginning, how Anya resisted the bond that knew they could have but at the moment her cubs are gone she becomes feral. She’s practically pulling at the jaguar’s tail to find her children and he’s more than willing to help this stubborn woman.
Unseen
This one is quite special since we get our very first glimpse at the Unseen pack.
Nicole Bradley lost her young son because of the SAU brutality. No one was held responsible for her son’s murder but Nicole never forgot the face of the man who destroyed her life. Nicole manages to leave the compound undetected so she can hunt the people responsible for her son’s death. The only thing she wasn’t counting on is the polar bear shifter determined to stop her.
Tucker Stone and his pack have been collecting evidence against the SAU for a very long time and he can’t let Nicole ruin their only chance to get justice. When he finds out about Nicole son he heart aches for the lovely woman who refuses to listen to reason. He wants her and he’s not shy to admit it.
Unseen was a great story and I really loved it. We get to see the Alpha of the Unseen Pack, Sinclair who with the help of a human woman, Mira uncover more SAU secrets. I was so intrigued. I want to read more about Sinclair and his plan but this was Nicole and Tucker’s story and I was happy for them. I do hope we see more of the Unseen pack though.
Abandoned and unseen were two great additions to the Branded series. Action, suspense, romance, bear and jaguar shifters and two incredible bear cubs. It had everything!
A fun read, but in my opinion clearly not as good as the first book of the series. The storylines are all so similar. I also hated the bit where they go "I can't hold myself back... the urge is just too strong." I know it is a part of many romance novels, but it gives me the heebee-jeebees every time. Yes, you can control yourself. Control yourself ffs... And if you can't, you shouldn't have access to other people. You should be locked up somewhere with a good therapist by your side. Otherwise I did enjoy the read. So it's 3 stars for me...
Abandoned and Unseen by Carrie Ann Ryan and Alexandra Ivy book 2 in Branded Pack. I love this story the Shifters vs humans is gong on we meet new breeds of shifters and part of the mystery of the. more fated mates and the cutest cubs. Aiden voice perfect growly and seductive perfect for this book
This is the second installment from Carrie Ann Ryan and Alexandra Ivy in their Branded Packs series. You will want to read the first book as it sets up the premise for the stories that follow.
Abandoned
Anya is a mama bear with LOTS of attitude. She has twin boys who are curious and full of mischief. She fell for a human once and was betrayed by him. She was left with a beautiful gift of two bear shifter cubs. Her brother has been protecting her as much as she will allow. When the SAU combines all the Wolf, Bear, and Feline shifters in the Denver area in one compound, tensions rise. Her brother is a seer but can’t predict what danger lies ahead for his own family.
Cole is a feline protector and helps guard the compound. He isn’t prepared for two playful cubs to draw his attention. And he surely is not prepared for his feelings toward their fiery mama. I enjoyed all the interactions between Cole and the cubs. Anya fighting her attraction for Cole only added to the sexual tension in the story.
I love that Anya is so strong and doesn’t need Cole but is willing to let him help her. Cole’s alpha tendencies get him in some trouble with her, but he can be stubborn too. Ultimately they end up being a perfect match for each other. Together, they are able to eliminate one of the most dangerous threats to their kind. The compound can breathe a bit easier for a while.
Unseen
We meet the Unseen in the first book. I admit, I was very intrigued and could not wait to read more about them. In this story we again meet Tucker, a polar bear shifter. He catches Nicole Bradley, a wolf shifter, as she is trying to sneak into the SAU complex to get vengeance for the death of her son. Nicole has escaped the shifter compound to get to her target.
Tucker is not about to let her blow the Unseen’s cover. They live off the grid. The Unseen are trying to sabotage the SAU from the inside and Nicole storming into the complex could very well not only endanger her but all the work the Unseen have accomplished up to now.
This installment was the most suspenseful so far. A lot was on the line for all shifters if things went foul. I really like Tucker’s big bear persona. He was all muscle and heft but a big softy inside. He recognizes Nicole as his mate and takes time to convince her that the two of them together will be a good idea. I loved hearing the traditions of the “wild” shifters and how they try to hang on to them as long as they can.
This series just gets better with each new installment. I eagerly wait to see what mayhem the shifter world will come up with next in order to unsettle the US government.
*I received an ARC of this title for an honest review.
In ABANDONED love blossoms between two unlikely shifters. A mama bear whose main concern is the care and safety of her twin sons and a seemingly laid back jaguar. With the changes that have taken place in the compound that the bears, cats, and wolves are now forced to share everyone is needing to make adjustments. Sharing power and responsibility outside of their packs doesn't come easily to any of them, but in order to keep everyone safe concessions are having to be made.
For Anya, things are about to become even more dangerous for both herself and her sons. Her sons are the key to a crazy man's plan for fame and possible fortune. What he doesn't count on is the fact that the packs are able to band together and all of them, especially Cole is going to take their responsibilities very seriously.
ABANDONED is another fast moving installment in this series. There's a fast burning but sweet romance between Anya and Cole, a mad dash to save innocent lives, and the coming together (to a degree) of the shifters forced to find common ground. Ryan was even able to get me excited about possible upcoming storylines. Cole's friend Gibson's as well as Anya's brother Oliver's stories are two that I am looking forward to reading.
UNSEEN by Alexandra Ivy
In UNSEEN we get a story that takes place outside of the shifter compounds. Nicole is on a mission to avenge the loss of her son and she doesn't care what she has to happen to do it. The humans who are responsible will be made to pay even if costs her her life to do it. Risking his community's safety and putting the larger Unseen community at risk as well isn't in the plans, but Tucker is willing to help Nicole. They are just going to have to get help from Sinclair, the alpha of the Unseen pack.
Unseen had plenty of action and laid the groundwork for how the Unseen will impact how the governing of shifters will develop and change. SAU is being infiltrated and will hopefully be taken down with the help of humans who acknowledge the huge injustices against shifters.
Strong personalities, intense desires, and a different set of mating standards makes the story enjoyable. Romance, action, and even emotion are plentiful in UNSEEN and I look forward to what comes next!
**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**
Two fantastic stories in one book! I feel so lucky that these two fantastic authors got together to create this dark and frightening world where there is so much sadness yet love can grow and shine through.
Abandoned by Carrie Ann Ryan – This story is filled with surprises and hope. I love that bear shifter Anya Tucker is tall. It’s tough being a single mom and change isn’t easy under the best of conditions. These aren’t the best of conditions. Having sexy jaguar tracker, Cole McDermott, close enough that the twins can give him a hard time is giving her fantasies of him giving her something hard in return. But when the twins are stolen Cole may be her only hope for finding them. Unseen by Alexandra Ivy – The Unseen are shifters the SAU are unaware of. They don’t have collars or brands. They are living off the grid and trying to change the plight of the shifters. Wolf shifter Nicole Bradley is hunting down the SAU bastards that shot down her 5 year old son and that hunt takes her across the path of Unseen polar bear shifter Tucker Stone. At serious risk to life, limb and his heart Tucker goes against his nature to help Nicole hunt down the last. Secrets are uncovered and so is Nicole’s heart. Maybe Tucker can give her a reason to go on. That is if they live long enough.
If nothing else these stories will leave you with a feeling of hope. That these characters can go through so much and come out of it with hope for the future you can do no less.

I've been craving paranormal books and I especially love shifter stories so reading this one was easy.
I haven't read the first book in the series but I caught on quickly.
I do love shifters that aren't just wolves and this one has lots. Bears of all types, cats abound and of course wolves. They have been caged and collared by the humans that believe they are responsible for the virus that wiped out 1/3 of the population. But all is not as it seems.
The first half of this book is the story of Anya, a grizzly bear, and her neighbor Cole, a cat. They fight their attraction but are drawn together to chase after an old enemy to the pack. Their attraction becomes impossible to ignore.
The second half is about Nicole, a morning wolf, and Tucker, a polar bear, who isn't part of the captive shifters. Nicole is hunting the killer of her child when she meets Tucker. Both her wolf and his bear are drawn to each other and they end up working together to bring the killer to justice.
It seems that this series is a group of novella length stories that tell individual stories in the same world. Each one furthers the overarching story of a world where humans do not trust shifters.
I enjoyed the stories and I'm certainly interested in reading more.
Like most novella length stories, things move quickly. And since shifters and mating is involved, hearts are claimed quickly. I like that actually. I might have liked a little longer stories.
It's a great, fast read. If you enjoy shifter stores, this is a great one to spend an evening with.
Book 2 Abandoned and Unseen by Carrie Ann Ryan and Alexandra Ivy. Abandoned Anya and Cole This book carries on straight after the previous one so after Holden made his mate in to shift it they were punished by adding bears into the compound this is where and your mates Cole. I absolutely love that these two characters are very much different I love but Anya has the boys that do seem to be attached to Cole straight away in the story and I just love how it develops and everything seems to work itself out even though it is intense and stressful in the middle of the story specially when Anya realises but the boys are missing absolutely love how Cole steps up. We also get a sneak peak of what is happening outside the compound which I really liked the twist in the story looking forward to reading more about this.
Unseen Tucker and Nicole This story also carries on directly after the previous one which I really like that the story flows very quickly between each book. In this one we have Tucker who helps Anya in the previous book to find her boys and is a unseen shifter which means he lives outside the compounds and hide from the SAU. Absolutely love to Tucker Especially with the way he is portrayed in the book he is this big silent teddy bear really thought has a big heart and when Nicole comes into it he gets to express himself bar and shows that is more than just a massive polar bear. We finally get to learn more about the SAU And the things they’ve been doing behind-the-scenes really looking forward to when these people get taken down. Aiden Snow narrates all the books in the branded packs and I cannot say how great he is at it his first time ever listen to him being exclusive in a narrated book and not with a female narrator but he pulls it off fantastically he also does a fantastic voice for Tucker which I absolutely love cannot wait for more
Carrie Ann Ryan has a unique style of writing, and her shifter series are no different. Set in a time when the shifter community came out of hiding to help the non shifters of the world deal with, and find a cure for, a pandemic. Because “humans” don’t like what they don’t understand, shifters were forced into captivity, now bears, cats, and wolves all forced to live together in one compound that was originally just the wolf shifters, and are now guarded and branded so they can no longer be free to live among the human race, like they had for so many years undetected. Of course, there were some shifters that managed to not be captured, and they are the “Unseen”. The government agency that is in control of the shifter communities, the SAU, is corrupt, of course, spreading outright lies and half truths to put fear into the voting people, convincing them to agree that the shifter community is dangerous and should be kept locked up. Some of these shifters are “arrested” and used as test subjects, trying to figure out their DNA and how the government can use this knowledge to create their own shifters to use to their advantage. Unknown to them, there are a few of these “Unseen” who can pass themselves off as human, they can mask their scent so other shifters don’t realize what they are, and they are working inside the SAU trying to bring them down, without doing more harm to fellow shifters, and saving as many as they can.
A bear shifter, Anya fells in love with the wrong man someone evil and creepy, but she gets two bear cubs. Now she’s mended her wounds and learned that in order to raise her babies she can only trust herself. When her sons meet the lazy cat next door, secretly falls in love with this man doesn't know what to do with herself.
Cole is a jaguar on a mission. He likes to, sleep, he likes his women, and he likes a stomach full of food. Then he meets Anya and the burn of temptation is great and tantalizing. When a despicable, man from Anya’s past threatens everything she loves, Cole will put everything aside and fight for her family—as well as his own. in the whole book is them going. After her bear cups, it was very good.
Unseen
Nicole had found it hard to live after the murder of her son from the hands of the humans. she learned to hunt down those who were responsible. That's what kept her going. Shifting into her wolf form at night, she slips out of the compound, determined to do as much damage as possible. The last thing she expected was to discover secrets that could destroy the SAU.
Polar shifter, Tucker lives off the grid. It’s the only way the Unseen. so that way they don't get tossed into a compound like the rest. But he can’t walk away when he sees the pretty female wolf in danger. Risking exposure, he takes her to his hidden den and tries to heal her wounds. This one was also really good.
Great development of the Branded Packs series! Love seeing the packs integrate and the story grow as learn to live together. Aiden brought life to the characters and made you emotionally invested every minute.
The old saying is so true, never get between a momma bear and her babies!! Anya is a fierce, independent bear and her ex drastically underestimated her strength when he decides to interfere with her babies. Cole is the sleek, cool jaguar that has watched Anya and her boys from the sidelines. I fell in love with him when he didn’t hesitate to risk everything to protect Anya’s boys.
The unseen added a new dynamic to the series that I loved. Hearing the story of Nicole’s son was heart breaking. I had to read more to see her get revenge. So when she met Tucker, it was perfection. It was their chemistry and his devotion to help her seek out the man who killed her son that won me over.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!! Abandoned and Unseen raises the emotional stakes with two stories rooted in motherhood, loss, and unlikely love. Abandoned is pure comfort meets heat—Anya’s fierce love for her cubs and her wary hope for a future with Cole, the lazy yet deeply protective jaguar, make for a surprisingly tender read. In Unseen, Nicole and Tucker’s connection simmers with grief and slow healing. Her need for revenge and his need for solitude collide in powerful ways, and their shared wounds shape a beautiful, raw love story. These novellas shine not only because of their supernatural tension, but because they spotlight characters fighting to heal and hold on in a fractured world.
This second book in this series was a good read that I enjoyed from the start. In this book, the fight between the shifters and the humans continues with more mystery and intrigue that the first book. More mates were found among the shifters and more bonds were forged. The narration from Aiden Snow was performed well and made for an enjoyable listening experience. Overall, this was a good read that I would recommend to others.
First problem…. The male in the first story obviously didn’t care who was in his bed and would take any willing female shifter. So he doesn’t deserve a mate and isn’t a real shifter because playboys don’t belong in mate romances.
In the second story, the main male is the guy that was checking out and “eye-screwing” the woman from the first part of the story. Gross. I mean, a romance can’t happen when he just wanted to screw another woman and we freaking read about it! Tasteless
More enjoyable than book 1 for me. ABANDONED Liked the twist with the father of Anya’s children but could have done with that being played out better. The relationship between Cole and the cubs was cute and enjoyable. Hated what Nicole had been through but loved how this played out with Tucker and his group. UNSEEN Hated what Nicole had been through but loved how this played out with Tucker and his group.
Abandoned: Cole McDermott, also know as "lazy cat" has his tail full of adorable little bear shifters. Will he be able to tame their overprotective mama bear?
Unseen: I completely understand Nicole's desire to annihilate anyone associated with her son's death. But can Tucker convince her that remaining unseen while she delivers justice is the way to go?
First story was not very strong on the plot side. No new developments really. So 3 stars for it. The second story was much better - there was action, story development, new characters. Almost 5 stars.
Abandoned didn’t hit the mark. They want to create shifters but it’s proven female shifters can have a shifter baby with a human man. Sorry not sorry this was a 2 star read…it was ok
Oh I loved both of these stories. In both stories, the main takeaway is, never come between a momma and revenge. I loved how both males realized what they wanted and went for it. Lots of sadness and tension but, so much love too.
Im tired, and my reviewing powers are severely depleted due to 5th grade shenanigans today. Will review later. It was okay, and i liked it alright, just meh-ish. No shock&awe
Two really good paranormal romance short stories in the Branded Packs series by two great authors, good narration by Aiden Snow. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
