I live in one of the most beautiful places in Florida, Jupiter, with my wife, two kids and our golden retriever, Vincent. I've been a full time author for the last 15 years and I wouldn't trade it against anything in the world!

My father was a journalist and wrote about some of the worst crimes you could ever imagine, and that's where my big interest from serial killers and other horrible crimes comes from. Just to hear my father talk about the evil acts of Ted Bundy as we were out fishing as a kid are some of my best memories.

I love true crime so when I saw this audiobook, I thought it would be a good listen. And it was. It’s an interesting compilation of the wicked things that 2018 had to offer. There are things ranging from school shootings to neglectful parents to sadistic murder in places all over the world.

While I thought it was fascinating to have a look into so many different crimes, it got a little monotonous after a couple of hours listening to it. I think with a little more depth to each case, it might’ve made it a bit more entrancing.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

A well-written, concise, interesting and highly-informative tome of anthropological tragedy. A very gripping and compelling picture of the sad places the mind of certain factions of humanity seem to have disappeared into.

This in-depth compilation of stories of international murder, crime and terror captivated me for hours, in a fashion by which only Rosewood & Lo always manages to so-well achieve.

It's like a true crime journal

This book covers crimes, mass shootings and terrorist activity month by month for 2018. It's like reading a journal of crime separated by month.

The mass shootings took place in schools, malls, restaurants, hospitals, and various other locations. Many times the shooter committed suicide before an arrest could be made, so we are left to wonder about the motive.

‘This past year has brought about the solving of many cold cases around the world’

Florida author Jack Rosewood inherited his fascination for heinous crimes from his father, a journalist covering major grim crimes such as Ted Bundy. He is fascinated with serial killers – their development psychologically, their preparation for their life of crime, and the details of how they made their bloody black marks on the world. Jack moves away from his intensive studies of serial killers to explore current crimes most of which are discoveries for the reader – even the Jack Rosewood reader! He is joined by co-author Rebecca Lo with whom he has published other collections - TRUE CRIME STORIES: TRUE CRIME ANTHOLOGY - and together they survey contemporary crimes – murders and killings that have occurred in this past year.

After a terrifying introduction, Jack and Rebecca take us month by month through the heinous crimes – Marshall County High School Shooting, The Turpin Family, Larry Nassar and Harvey Weinstein, Coincheck Hacking, Bruce McArthur - Serial Killer, Atlanta Cyberattack, International Spy Poisonings, Scottsdale Spree Killings, Miles Family Murders, Murder of XXXTentacion, Pittsburgh Synagogue Massacre, Mail Bombing, Austin Serial Bomber, Russian Poisoning Saga, Waffle House shooting in Nashville, the Killing of Antwon Rose, Jr. - it seems no area of the globe was safe. The social media and racism and the elections have added to the milieu of terror.

Easy reading? No, because of the subject matter but not the style of journalism. This is another important book from Jack Rosewood as assisted by Rebecca Lo. We must remain vigilant.

Along with romances, Christian books, True Crime books is one of my favorite genres of books to read/review; and if you’ve got any doubts regarding the validity of what I’m saying just look at my Amazon profile where I’ve received a badge for being a TOP CONTRIBUTOR for True Crime Books.

There are dozens of authors who are involved in writing this kind of book and Mr. Jack Rosewood is one of my favorites, as he gives his readers an engaging, complete story for each of the individual criminal, murderer or serial killer he chooses to write about. Given the nature of this book, being an anthology Mr. Rosewood cuts to chase to give readers a concise story which concentrates on the essential aspects of each events he’s included here; most importantly these stories are unbiased as they just contain the well-research facts for each event. To get an idea of what the author has included in this anthology as one has to do is to read the author’s own description for his book.

The year 2018 had been fraught with multiple school and large-scale shootings with the US, worldwide terrorist attacks; but thanks at least to the technological improvements locating and apprehending these sadistic and heinous perpetrators of these events have become easier.

For having given all aficionados of True Crime stories as myself, I’ve given Mr. Rosewood and his endeavor here 5 STARS.

Wonderful book

I loved this book. I waited with anticipation for this book, and I wasn’t disappointed. It was full of interesting information.
I learned about new cases, and found out new information about familiar cases.
Keep up the good work.

kindle unlimited but one of my owned ones, typically don't read horror or gore, but like the way he writes so end up looking at all of them so far {except for the single serial killer ones}, many books out from him but the 3 collecions {of this set} are below, but all his books can be found on amazon and goodreads.

There have been many advances in technology that has led to the uncovering on many suspects in cold cases, including the identity of the Golden State Killer, a secret that had remained hidden for decades. As a fan of Jack Rosewood's Serial Killer books, I was excited to dig into this. Unfortunately, its lack of depth made this not nearly as enjoyable and informative as I had hoped.

Kevin Kollins gives us a solid narration. With this sort of book, vices and tempo changes are completely unnecessary, so I can't rate him on those factors. But his voice is generally pleasant to listen to and he speaks clearly with good pronunciation.

As always, Rosewood gives us clear, concise details and mostly sticks to the facts that are relevant and interesting. There is very little in the way of rambling or voicing his personal opinions.

That fact, however, might also be part of the problem.

With the notable exceptions of the Weinstein affair and the Golden State Killer (and a handful of others that I didn't actually know about before), each case offers very little information apart from names, dates, how many victims, and when the offender is set to go to trial.

While I do understand why the author chose to expand the text with the tiny bit of information available about pretty much every terrorist attack and major headline murder of 2018, a big part of me wishes he hadn't. With the sparsity of details, those cases didn't really add anything of value to the book.

However, those few cases with actual details definitely made the book a worthwhile read. Prior to this I didn't actually know very much about the Golden State Killer, so this was a nice overview to take a look at.

And while I had previously had doubts about the validity of the plethora of allegations against Harvey Weinstein, there is more than enough information here to convince me that at least some of the "Me too" movement does hold some truth. Which saddens me, but I'm also very glad that these women will at last see justice done.

So, in the end, I am disappointed by the general lack of detail in most of the cases, but if you like reading general True Crime or just enjoy Jack Rosewood's reporting style, this is definitely a book you'll want to pick up. However, if you read True Crime primarily for serial killer stories or prefer a lot of depth and detail, then this might not be the one for you.

My favorites, probably not the right word but: Fritz Haarmann The Butcher of Hanover; Cho Seung-Hui Virginia Tech Massacre; or any other school shooting for that matter; George Hennard The Luby’s Massacre; Ronald Dominique The Bayou Strangler.

Warning: This book contains extremely graphic adult content, violence, or expletive language &/or uncensored sexually explicit material which is only suitable for mature readers. It may be offensive to some readers.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one. All thoughts & opinions are entirely my own.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. 8 very well written murder cases book. They were all very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. All of them could also make great crime movies, college or other PP presentation, or better yet a mini TV series, or even a documentary (True Crime; American Crime Story; Investigative Discovery). You finally had references. I would have like to have seen more but you came around. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

Thank you for the free LAK Publishing; Author; PDF book

Crime headlines that shocked the world in 2018...

Fans of true crime will thoroughly enjoy this book. There's no time to catch your breath in this latest true-crime page turner from Jack Rosewood and Rebecca Lo. With their unique voice style, they paint a vivid portrait of murder, terrorism and mass killings that were prominent in the news in 2018.

As the authors state: ‘The past year has brought about the solving of many cold cases around the world, some of which have been unsolved for decades. This is a testament to the leaps and bounds that have been made in forensic technology and better cooperation between police authorities internationally. For many families of the victims, it may have taken a long time to see a result, but to finally have justice for their loved one is priceless.’

Filled with the most complete case facts available, True Crime 2018: Homicide & True Crime Stories offers an unparalleled look at some of the most captivating crime cases in 2018, told by one of the most prolific crime writers of our time! I recommend this book to all who enjoy true crime.

Just to think how many people mention here in this book really is mind boggling. I have not heard of mostly all of them, yet am a avid reader of true crime and keep up pretty much on the news and shows of true crime. I sincerely am disgusted of every one these killers, must say more for the child killers and or abusers. I cant fathom the thought it took for these victims to survive and or for the family's of the victims what they went through. Having so many people(no! not worthy of being called human!!!!) these animals out in society and not even notice them till its too late is horrific! If you are into True Crime and want to know the latest then Jack is the go to guy! Delivers in great detail and is well written unlike some true crime writings. Love the writing style as it is easy to follow along and is such a page turner. Follow along with the arrest to the trial and that is so great to know the outcome of each case. Thanks for sharing this information Jack! Look forward to your next crime book for my true crime fix!. I received this ARC book for free and am voluntarily leaving a review.

As always Mr. Ridgewood has done it again! Not only has he been successful writing this book but he actually makes something so nasty and scary, but he makes it so easy to read and follow!! Every time I read another one of his books I am left wanting so much more!! But in a good way! He is one of the only authors I know that can make crime look so interesting... I'm always left just wanting more!!!!
So if you are looking for a great read look no further!! This book is one to read as all his books are!!! Can't wait for his next release!!

Excellent true crime book for 2018

Jack Rosewood has done it again with his 2018 true crime book. Inside of the book he describes in detail all of the most prominent crimes that occurred during the past calendar year. From mass shootings to terrorist attacks to individual crimes from murder to poisonings, Jack covers them all in chilling detail. I vividly remember several of the mass shootings but was able to glean new information about them from this book. True crime readers will love this book.

Worthwhile Reading

Jack, you and Ms. Lo have done a very fine job in researching and writing this book. However, the subject matter can really be a little disheartening. I have heard of quite a few cases but hardly any from the military. It really saddens me to know that our human race, all of us, have slipped so low as to be responsible for all the deaths. Ok. I'm off my soapbox now. Good read.

True Crime 2018: Homicide & True Crime Stories of 2018 (Annual True Crime Anthology Book 3) was a good read by Jack Rosewood and Rebecca Lo. This book follows many of the prominent news stories of 2018. These cases included; serial killers, family members, mass murders, school shootings, major hacking incidents, terrorist acts, and cold cases. This book was another good Jack Rosewood take on some of the most horrific and prominent cases of 2018.

ROSE

This was an easy to read book. It just didn't seem to tell much. I usually read books like this to find out more about who the people really are and what kind of personalities they have. Although some of this was brought to attention I suppose there just wasn't enough time to get deeply into these facts. I don't really know.

Events are organized by month with a very brief description of each case more or less chronologically and a listing of acts of terrorism at the end of each chapter. There is very little detail included for each case.

Kevin Kollins' narration is competent and professional.

I have always liked Jack Rosewood's review books of the year in crime. They are so informative and remind us about the crimes that happened during the past year. They are well written and easy to read. The research is top notch. I really enjoy his books. I do recommend this book, especially if you are into true crime and want to know about what happened last year in a good review.

This was the first of the annual anthologies that I've read and I was kind of disappointed. Most of the crimes covered had very, very little information about them and those that did go more "in depth", really just ripped headlines.

As this was written after 2018, and the authors thus had the gift of time, I expected more than just the "breaking news" type of information.

It’s nothing personal...literally. I found this anthology to be a simple summary of newspaper headlines from 2018. Nothing new, no depth...straight to the point. It is clearly written, but a bit dry for my taste.

A great insight

A bite size look at a lot of very serious crimes committed in 2018. The book contains crimes from around the world that will peak your interest and the terrorist crimes and the end of each chapter are a true eye opener. Great book.

Meh

It could have been better. Over wordy in some sections. Also could have used a good editing. It was a slapped together summary of the years top events in crime and whatnnot.

A lot of mayhem

I give this book 4 stars because it focused too heavily on the sex scandal. With true crime I expect serial killers not rapists
