‘In Royal, Texas, everything brings back difficult memories...especially you.’ But walking away again might prove impossible...
Feuding grandparents ended Daniel Clayton and Alexis Slade's teenage romance - and ten years hasn't healed the family rift, nor cooled their intense desire. But when staying apart backfires spectacularly, Daniel and Lexi find themselves entangled in a forbidden affair that leads to an unexpected pregnancy. Will they stay loyal to their families...or to their own hearts?
Joss Wood loves books and travelling— especially to the wild places of Southern Africa and, well, anywhere.
She’s a wife, a mom to two teenagers, and is bossed around by two cats and a Great Dane X the size of a baby cow. After a career in local economic development, she now writes full time.
Lone Star Reunion by Joss Wood is part of the multi-authored Texas Cattleman’s Club: Bachelor auction series and a second chance romance for two characters whom we catch glimpses of in previous series entries but finally get their happy ending here!
Daniel Clayton and Alexis Slade were teenaged lovers, but a family feud between their grandparents (Gus, Alexis’s grandfather and Rose, Daniel’s grandmother) broke them apart. It’s been ten years since their ill fated romance, when Alexis left their town for school and Daniel stayed behind. Alexis is back now as a favour to Gus but she’s not planning to stick around, intending to go back to Houston.
Daniel and Alexis reconnect in a secret affair while she’s home and with Gus and Rose mending their relationship, there’s no reason they need to stay apart, especially when Alexis winds up pregnant. Daniel wants to do the right thing and be there for the baby, but Alexis has doubts about his commitment, especially since love doesn’t seem to be on the table. When Gus and Rose plan a ‘kidnapping’ to force Daniel and Alexis to hash out their relationship away from prying eyes, will they take this chance to figure out the way to their happy ever after?
Guys, you have to read this book! Joss Wood’s impeccable writing and exhilarating characters blew my mind. Lone Star Reunion (“Texas Cattleman’s Club: Bachelor Auction series”) is set in Royal, Texas. If you’re a Desire fan then you know about this famous fictional location. This story brings into focus family drama, a hawt romantic reunion and an unexpected pregnancy — a few of my fave tropes! Atmospheric, fast-paced and genuinely gripping, Lone Star Reunion is the perfect book to get lost in.
Author Joss Wood brings us back to the TCC with "Lone Star Reunion (Texas Cattleman's Club: Bachelor Auction, #6)" and we read more about the feud between the Clayton's and the Slades. Daniel Clayton and Alexis Slade had a teenage romance which ended when she went to college and he stay home at his family ranch. Dan and Lexi find that their romance hasn't fizzled any in the 10 years that they were apart. He's scheduled to be auctioned as an eligible bachelor, and she is the auctioneer. Problem is that their weeks of sizzling sex prior to the auction leaves a lasting effect, and both of them need to deal with past issues in order to move forward. ***Even though this is written as part of a series it can also be a read alone book.
Stopped in chapter 8. Part of the Harlequin February 2019 bundle.
I couldn't see enough progress in the story and there weren't more heart palpitating moments for me to want to continue.
Interesting concept; them not really knowing each other even though she wanted him to leave their hometown together when they were teenagers.
I'm a fan of second chance romances but since they had never really talked I couldn't find the spark I was hoping for. I wished for funny banter and surprised emotional depth.
I didn't think the third party POV between Alexis and Daniel were distinctive enough as I sometimes forgot who was driving a particular thought. There also send to be a lot of mistakes of him/her which made it confusing at times.
This was a fabulous ending to this TCC Series Bachelor Auction. It was great to learn more about Alexis and Daniel. I loved the back story of them to get to know them more! I love how Rose and Gus tricked them and sent them on the honeymoon they were going on..But it is good that they did as it brought Alexis and Daniel much closer. But when the going gets tough Alexis almost messes everything up but it takes a talking to from Gus to get her to see things..actually she realizes them herself without Gus' help! You have to read this book to see how all the stories came together!
“In Royal, Texas, everything brings back difficult memories…especially you.” But walking away again might prove impossible…Feuding grandparents Gus and Rose ended Daniel Clayton and Alexis Slade’s teenage romance—and ten years hasn’t healed the family rift…nor cooled their intense desire. But when staying apart backfires spectacularly, Daniel and Lexi find themselves entangled in a forbidden affair that leads to an unexpected pregnancy. Will they stay loyal to their families…or to their own hearts? Wraps up other stories in the series.
I liked this series. This last book brought everything together. For Alex and Daniel suffering so much loss, feeling abandoned and in the middle of a family feud, Happiness and peace and a combined family was icing on the cake. And Daniel’s dad Hector, that was icing on the cake.
This was my first experience with this author and I can see myself reading more. I enjoyed this series. Lex and Daniel have been in love with each other all their lives. Not only did they come together they increased their family by one. I would have liked to find out more about the baby and how she or he wrapped Daniel and Lex . Overall a good book to read.
Good quick read. I enjoyed the story of Alex and Daniel. Both have grandparents that have a feuding past, they have a past and now quickie has caused them a future intertwined. Can they find love together or will they continue to hold onto old wounds? Hope you enjoy this one, I sure did.
I read this book after reading another book in the series, because I wanted to find out what happened to these characters, but I expected more out of the story. I didn't like it as much as the other book I read.

Enjoyed watching Alex and Daniel rekindle there relationship. Was also great watching their grandparents who kept them apart years ago fall for each other!
Alexis Slade and Daniel Clayton have a bits of their story appearing throughout this series either by their grandparents side story or as themselves as friends to other characters. I love how this book incorporates all that and fills in the gaps and provides reasoning behind the characters actions and emotions while tying up this series with a bow but allowing the continuation of the Texas Cattleman's Club new series.
