Autumn Yes, my name is Autumn Pumpkin. Obviously, my parents had a sense of humor, but that is where their parenting skills ended. I’ve had to fend for myself for as long as I can remember. I have also had a dream of becoming a journalist. It happened for a while. Now, I’m a treasure hunter for my cousin’s antique store. Sounds like fun, right? It’s not. I thought I hit the jackpot when I purchased a storage space with contents that led me to a possible buried treasure. The only catch is it’s located on a piece of land that also houses a resort which makes me nervous. Shawn My partners and I own the Silver Creek Resort. When I was contacted by Autumn Pumpkin, my radar went off. What kind of alias was Autumn Pumpkin? And what buried treasure map was she trying to sell me? What scam was she pulling? Those were my thoughts… until I met her in person. One look at her and I was intrigued – and not about the buried treasure, either. Publisher’s This steamy romance contains elements of power exchange, suspense, danger and mystery and is intended for mature readers.
Melinda Barron loves to explore Egyptian tombs and temples, discover Mayan ruins, play in castles towers, and explore new cities and countries. She generally does it all from the comfort of her home by opening a book.
Melinda loves to lose herself between the pages of a book. The only thing she loves more is creating stories from the wonderful heroes and heroines that haunt her dreams and crowd her head. She believes love is for everyone, not just those who are a size 2. Her books are full of magic, suspense and love, in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
Mel currently lives in the Texas Panhandle, with two cats, and a file stuffed with new ideas to keep her typing fingers busy, and your heart engaged.
The h is 40. The cover pic shows someone who is definitely not 40. Are the authors ashamed to put photo of a 40 year old woman? And if you are then make your characters someone young.
About the book, I think it had an amazing plot of buried treasure but the way it was executed was not at all good. The bdsm thing was not needed and not interesting either. The so-called dom H spanks another woman in front of the h. Turn off. He was very pushy. I didn’t like the way he entered in her bathroom while she was bathing in the beginning. Hello, she was yet to sign up for the bdsm shit and here he is trying to manipulate her already. She was exposed to a girl being spanked naked without her signing up for the shitty thing. I can’t even imagine anyone doing this to me. It would be very disturbing and uncomfortable to watch it. Definitely not romantic.
Sorry I guess I picked the wrong book. Not for me.
Buried Treasure is the first book in the Silver Creek Resort series. Autumn has found the location to stolen bank treasure, but there’s a catch - it’s located on the private grounds of a BDSM club. Hoping for a quick cash payout for her information, she’s overwhelmed when she meets Shawn, the land’s owner and a partner to the club. Trying to uncover the mystery behind the treasure, Shawn and Autumn go on an adventure, and are drawn closer together. But can Autumn handle his world?
I really enjoyed reading this book! I loved the slight mystery of the buried treasure, I loved Shawn and Autumn’s relationship and the dynamic between them, and I really enjoyed how well this book flowed and kept me engaged! There was a really great blend between the mystery, their budding trust, and the steaminess of their growing bond. Shawn was definitely confident and secure in being a Dom, but I also loved how he was willing to slow things down for Autumn, to introduce her to his lifestyle, and I liked his drive. Autumn was interesting because she was so against being a submissive, but had this curiosity inside that drew her like a moth to a flame - and that burned for the mystery and for Shawn. I think they worked well together, I liked how she questioned everything and needed proof to feel secure about her decisions, I loved how smoothly he was with her education. I really enjoyed this book! I look forward to seeing where this series might go next!
I HAD TAKEN HER DOWN A PATH SHE’D NEVER EXPECTED TO FOLLOW
Wow, just wow! The story is truly a mystery suspense page-turner with an erotic twist into the world of BDSM and self-discovery. I am already excited for the next book in the Silver Creek Resort series. There is a great cast of characters, plenty of interaction, angst, eroticism, and new beginnings. Then there is a mystery that spans over fifty years with a bank robbery, hidden treasures, and hopefully a big payout.
The plot will have Autumn Pumpkin (yes that is really her name) winning the bid on a storage unit that only contains one box holding a few books and a letter. Her competitor for the unit, Brent Mach laughs at the one box find for $700. The letter will lead Autumn to Nevada and Shawn Hollis, where his family has owned the land for several generations. She assumes he will gladly give her the fifty-thousand dollars she is asking for the information, but things don’t work out that way.
The Hollis property now hosts the Silver Creek Resort, a BDSM resort that is private and vets those who want to visit. It is run by friends, Shawn, Ethan, and Randy, and has a full staff for grounds, housekeeping, and dining.
Shawn and his partners meet with Autumn, contact their attorneys and start the process of tracking down the clues based on what research Autumn has uncovered. While the mystery of the bank robbery, a missing quarter of a million dollars plays a huge part of the story, there is another story taking place. Shawn and Autumn, and her attitude toward BDSM, or should I say her misconception of it, her indoctrination into BDSM, witnessing scenes, talking with couples, and eventually with Shawn.
“You really need to do research before you stick your uneducated nose into things you know nothing about.”
The chemistry between Shawn and Autumn is instant, but her acceptance into experiencing a D/s relationship is slow going. Each step along the journey is a love-hate experience, mostly because of her two bad relationships from her past. There is plenty of angst, uncertainty, and eventually, excitement as she experiences the joy of the scenes, orgasms, and subspace. The story does solve the mystery, and two people find they have a future together.
The search for a treasure leads Autumn to another search, to a journey she didn't expect, to discover her sexuality, and to discover herself.
I loved Autumn. She had to adapt after losing her job. She is intelligent, curious, likes to investigate, wants to learn, and is too quick to judge people and situations she doesn't understand. She has a good heart, doesn't like people suffering, but after talking to several of the women in the club she still doesn't understand that they are there because they want to, that nobody forces them to.
As she herself thinks, she is selfish, she only thinks about money, she doesn't think about what people suffered after the robbery. Shawn and his friends tell her that they did the same, so they are as selfish as she is, and she doesn't think -something bad about then.
I loved Shawn. He's dominant and possessive, but he's also very tender with her, and very patient in explaining things to her. He felt a connection with her from the first moment. That's why he listened to her, not because he was interested in money. He wants to explore that connection, he wants to know her, to be with her. It's not love, not yet, but it could be.
I loved them together. They make a good couple.
I loved the search, and meeting Shawn's friends.
I recommend it.
I received an ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.
Wonderful start to promising series This was a wonderful beginning to this new series based in Silver Creek a GDSM Resort where people are able to holiday away from their children and enjoy their personal proclivities. Into Shawn’s world walks Autumn Pumpkin who is trying to earn $50,000 where she was selling him the location to a stash of buried treasure, resulting from a bank robbery almost fifty years ago. Shawn as you can appreciate views Autumn Pumpkin with a certain amount of doubt but offers to take her deal to his two other partners who decide that they will only agree to a particular deal if Shawn remains by her side. It soon starts to become apparent that the gorgeous Pumpkin is also a closet submissive and he is just the man to show her exactly what they were missing. As the story develops it soon becomes apparent that someone is on their tail and are following them as they begin to draw closer to the actual location of the possible haul, the relationship between Shawn and Pumpkin is very tempestuous she is no shrinking violet!! A great read I look forward to the next book in this wonderful series. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
This story is about Autumn Pumpkin, no really that is her name. She makes her living purchasing abandoned storage containers and selling the contents (just like Storage Wars). Autumn wins the bid on a container which disappointingly has nothing inside but a box, however in the box there is an article and a map which shows where a huge amount of cash and jewellery are buried in Nevada on a ranch. Autumn does some research which leads her to believe that the map is genuine and decides to go look for the treasure herself. It turns out the spot is on Silver Creek which is a BDSM Resort. Autumn is sexually very naive and has little or know experience of BDSM. The Resort is run by 3 partners and Autumn approaches Shawn whose family have owned the land for generations. At first he thinks she is trying to pull a scam but then when he meets her he becomes interested in both herself and her map. Autumn and Shawn obviously have chemistry but she is very vanilla and quite judgemental and he is a Dom. This was an entertaining read with elements of a thriller and mystery, the treasure hunt and the villain trying to steal the treasure and the BDSM romance, would Autumn open her mind to the possibilities that a Ds lifestyle is not abuse. I enjoyed it and look forward to seeing what there is to come.
This was the most exciting book I've read in a long time. I enjoyed every word of it and while I was desperate to know what happened, I didn't want it to end. The mystery of the buried treasure provided one plot line filled with adventure and suspense. The second theme was the BDSM lifestyle at the resort that all the main characters, except the heroine, were involved in. The book did a great job of exploring the lifestyle through Autumn's unfamiliar eyes while she remained intrigued, frightened, and at times, horrified by the scenes she witnessed. Even so, she learned that the subs reached a state of pure bliss from those scenes and she couldn't help her own reactions to Shawn's dominance and everything he did to her. I loved the conflict this created within Autumn and the way the author brought us along on that journey. I also enjoyed the wit and humor of the dialog between the pair and the suspense of never knowing which direction their relationship would turn. Somehow the author weaved both storylines together flawlessly as they proceeded to unfold simultaneously throughout the book.
This is a very fun story of modern day treasure hunting. It has a fun BDSM desert retreat and a pretty adventurer seeking a treasure. She is a bit Straight and Narrow, not to mention only slightly submissive but she ends up finding far more than treasure because her new master is the only one who can get the treasure she originally was looking for and he wants her for his treasure. I is a well written story that keeps you interested and looking forward to what's next. It kinda ends too soon but hopefully there will be more in the series. The editor missed a few grammar and spelling mistakes but it's easy enough to get the point. I really enjoyed this story... in reading the authors bio I was wondering if maybe they might be some Archaeology or Indiana Jones stories set in Egypt or South America... I enjoy the fact this book had a little mystery, a treasure hunt, a love story and BDSM... there was even a bit of crime solving...
Autumn is hoping to capitalize on a treasure map she acquired in a storage unit auction, but it leads to a private ranch so she offers to sell the map to the property owner, Shawn. The ranch is currently being used as a private BDSM club, and Shawn's Dom side refuses to let Autumn just walk away.
I didn't get the feeling that Shawn was interested in anything more than sex - kinky sex - from Autumn, while her protests and misgivings come through loud and clear. It was hard to see why she fell for him; even though they had terrific chemistry, it seemed that that was the extent of their relationship.
The fifty-year-old mystery of the buried treasure was intriguing, especially as it delved into Shawn's family history. The surprise twist was nicely done. This is a standalone romance with a solid HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Autumn is a young woman, sexually inexperienced, who buys abandoned storage boxes and makes money from selling what she recovers. Based on what she has found in a box she bought, she thinks there is a large amount of buried money and jewelry on a ranch in Nevada, and she goes there to try and find it – or get paid for providing the information. She meets Shawn, one of the owners of the ranch which is a BDSM resort, and as they pursue leads in the matter, a relationship develops between them involving some sex, and some mild BDSM activities – although it takes her time, and a lot of patience from Shawn, to make herself comfortable with such activities. Both characters are interesting and well-drawn, and the story moves quickly as both a mystery, involving a “bad guy” who hopes she can lead him to the money, and as a love and BDSM story.
Contemporary bdsm. It strikes me that there doesn't seem to be a explanation for the stars that are given. So I thought I'd start giving my take on it. 1 horrible no redeeming qualities. 2 there are redeeming qualities. 3 good worth reading, or well written but not my cup of tea. 4 great but there's something off. 5 loved it.
This book took me a while to get into, about half the book. The quick progression of the relationship and intro into the lifestyle didn't ring true for me. Reasons I enjoyed this book: Happily Ever After, Great world building, Original, Steamy. Bookshelves/tags: adult, bdsm, bondage, club, contemporary, dom-sub, mystery, panty-wetting, romance, series, spanking. This book was given to me for free at my request from the publisher or author and I provided this unbiased voluntary review.
This book had such promise. It was so full of editing errors that i was glad it was a KU and i didnt pay for it. Sentences left unfinished, extra words or missing words in sentences, wrong words used ( thought/ through). Over all story line was good but author needs to smooth it out. No real connection with Shawn and Autumn. He knew how she felt about the spanking/ whipping etc but yet he made her sit through it and couldn’t understand her feelings on it even knowing how new she was to the lifestyle. Hard to put down but poorly written! Why are authors in such a hurry to publish before they put a quality book out. I would have given a 4 star if it hadn’t been for the editing errors.
Finding a letter in an unpaid storage unit Autumn about a July 9, 1964 bank was robbed she research and finds a location for where it should be buried. Contacting one of the owners of Silver Creek Resort a BDSM facility she tries to sell the info to Shawn it is on his property. Now that did not work just the way she planned and that is what the story is about. There is also a little dominance and submission in this piece too. It was really a good read full of mystery and great twists if you can handle the dominance and submission part it is a book worth getting. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I feel like the author doesn't have a lot of BDSM experience. The book opens with the main the FMC goes to meet outing another person's relative as being a member of their BDSM resort, which is hugely unethical. Beyond that, he assumes she's a sub without talking to her and he suggests a punishment spanking within around ten minutes of meeting her which is ridiculously inappropriate with anyone. Then he goes on to mention her 'delicious marbles' that he can see through her shirt. Yuck. Who in their right mind uses that phrasing and thinks it's sexy? And again, with pretty much a complete stranger who just takes it in stride? It's completely unbelievable.
I have enjoyed books from this author in the past and this one is not an exception. The characters, Autumn Pumpkin, who was a journalist but now buying storage units to find items to sell to her cousin and Shawn, owner of the Silver Creek Resort and a BDSM club on the property, are both relatable and interesting. The depth and twists to this tale kept me enthralled until the very last page. This book deals with loyalty, love, adventure, risks and conflict. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys stories with light BDSM in it.
Autumn, who has lost her job, discovers a treasure map. She decides to search for the treasure, but discovers that it seems to be buried at the Silver Creek Resort which leads to some very interesting experiences.
Melinda Barron knows how to write, this is for sure. I fell in love with Autumn and Shawn right from the beginning. Autumn is a woman who never thought of herself as a submissive and Shawn is happy to teach her that she is. The intimate scenes were very hot and I enjoyed reading the book very much.
Interesting characters, intriguing plot and a heroine with an unusual name. I mean, Autumn Pumpkin. Was she born in the fall on a pumpkin patch farm near Mayberry or something? She really must have heard all the jokes. It had some BDSM, a few people who didn't go for that sort of thing, hot cowboys, crooked crooks, intriguing letters and a few other interesting. But what's a girl to do in the name of research? The story flowed and the plot wasn't bad so if you don't mind a little intrigue or BDSM give it a shot and check it out.
A new series and right off I was smiling who would give their daughter the name Autumn Pumpkin! Right away I could see how her school years went. Autumn is a journalist who thinks she has found a buried treasure map. It is on the Silver Creek Resort land where she comes to meet Shawn who is a Dominant. Will they be able to solve the mystery or is there more to come for these two? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The latest by Melinda Barron, is a bit different. It's touted as a Western Romance, but it's a mystery and a erotic BDSM romance, as well. "Buried Treasure," is a spicy little tale, featuring Autumn Pumpkin, (yes, they weren't the BEST of parents, either.) Getting to the treasure requires her to go through Shawn - resort owner and a hot Dom. Very titillating, spicy, and intriguing. A tantalizing, romantic mystery. I received this book as an ARC and I volunteered this review.
Buried Treasure is quite the adventure. Shawn and Autumn have quite the Journey to make. I love the mystery that this book contains. I also like the way the author has described the Journey that Autumn is on and BDSM and being submissive. I love how patient Shawn is with teaching Autumn and pushing her to learn new things about herself. This is a great book about a woman learning to explore her sexuality in a new way. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. This is a really good read. Sex, mystery, adventure, a woman named Autumn Pumpkin, how can you lose? When a reporter finds info for a buried treasure, she has to make her move. When the owner of a BDSM resort gets an offer from that reporter, how can he pass up the opportunity to teach her all he knows and learn what she knows? Sexy, hot read.
Autumn finds a letter detailing subdued treasure. As she searches she finds the treasure is on the Silver Creek resort a BDSM resort. Shawn is one of the partners, the land has been in his family for several generations. As they search for the treasure their relationship develops. Autumn finds a treasure greater than a stolen buried treasure

This wasn't what I was looking for. I wanted more of the main characters connecting sexually through BDSM. In my opinion, the story was more about the woman wanting money from the property. The resort and man, were more of a side story. I had been skipping pages throughout until I got to 100. I decided to call it quits. Rating: DNF. Not interested in story.
Melinda Barron is a gifted writer, there isn’t one book of hers I didn’t like. In this story we have Autumn, a journalist, who had met Shawn, a Dominant, through trying to solve a mystery. She’s introduced to bdsm, this is a fun read. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This books was humorous and very entertaining. I liked the balance between the two main characters. He was perfectly written as the dominant in their relationship. She was a great character. I loved her attitude. Great book.
I just loved this book. It was so well-written that it captured my mind and I was dragged along for the ride. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down until I read the last page.
