A Cynical Cyborg Meets A Bad, Bad Female. Chuckles hates all humans. In the past, humans betrayed him. That treachery caused permanent damage to his muscular form, resulting in a lifespan of pain. When the primitive D Model cyborg answers a distress call sent by a pink-and-blue haired, sparkly human female, he knows it’s a trap. He still has to respond to her fake cry for help. She belongs to him, is the one being genetically fabricated for him. But he plans to be her captor, not her captive. Bettina, aka Bait, works with a team of females, snaring sexual predators in space, seizing their ships and transporting them to primitive planets. As soon as she speaks with Chuckles, she knows he’s not like the others. He has honor, is a being worthy of respect, of caring. But she can’t let him go. She has to trap him. His dominance thrills her. His deep voice evokes desires she’d never experienced in the past. She’ll risk it all, breaking every rule for one wild encounter with the male she calls Sir. * * * Choosing Chuckles is a STANDALONE BBW Cyborg SciFi Romance set in a dark, gritty, sometimes-violent universe. Great story and characters!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎
Character development: 😟🤭😤😘🥰

The heroine: Bettina (a.k.a. Bait) - she works with a bunch of females, luring sexual predators in using her sexuality. Once they take the ‘bait’ and answer her distress call. Bettina and her team capture them, take their ships, then leave them stranded on nearby habitable planets. She had been doing this for eight solar cycles to save up enough credits to take care of herself and her father. Her father had worked his whole life in the mines for the humanoid alliance and expected to retire in comfort, but they betrayed him and now Bettina plans on taking care of him.

The Hero: Chuckles - he was a D model cyborg who, along with his brethren, had escaped the control of the Humanoid Alliance. He hated all humans as it was humans who kept him captive and damaged his leg so bad that nothing would fix it and he was in constant pain from the injury. Humans would have decommissioned him for that imperfection and killed him in the most horrible way possible. Now he is on one of the warships which patrolled the edges of cyborg-controlled space to protect their species.

The Story: Chuckles knows from the first call his warship receives that Bettina is the one female that was made just for him. He hates the fact that she is human and that she is sending out a deceitful message to lure them into a trap. His commander also knows Chuckles is heading into a trap but allows him to go since they know that Bettina is his female.

This story was interesting, and I liked both characters quite a bit. Bettina was cute and I loved that she liked to fabricate jewelry in her spare time. It is actually what she wanted to do once she had enough credits for her father and his friend to live on. She was very submissive and Chuckles very dominant. Bettina’s submissiveness stemmed from being the one that had to take care of everyone else and she liked to shut down and have Chuckles make the decisions for her. She called him ‘Sir’ and he called her ‘baby’.

I also liked the fact that Chuckles could always tell when she was lying, and he was usually a few steps ahead of her. She thought she trapped him and captured him, but really, he could have gotten free and contacted his cyborg brethren at any time to come help him out. Though cyborgs can’t lie, they can con others by not telling them certain things, especially if they aren’t asked direct questions.

There were also some great supporting characters including some evil humans and some furry beings (kind of like five-legged monkeys that could speak their own language, which of course Chuckles could also speak. I really enjoyed them, and they added a lot to the story.

When I picked up Choosing Chuckles I had no idea it was the first in her new Cyborg Space Exploration series. Instead I thought it was the next book in her fantastic Cyborg Sizzle series. But this is the beginning of a spin off series. The cyborgs now have their home planet established and, as the series name suggests, the cyborgs are now looking beyond their home sector. Chuckles, hates all humans, all they do is lie and betray. So, when he finds his human female, his mate, he isn't surprised that she is luring him into a trap. But, Chuckles has no intention of being caught by his bad female, instead he fully intends to be the one capturing her.My reading taste doesn't usually venture into erotic territory, but I do love Sax's brand of erotic BDSM sci fi romances. I think what clinches it for me over other series that I have tried is the cyborgs heroes. They manage to be smoulderingly hot, fierce and cutely clueless all at once, it's the perfect combination for me to fall in love.In Choosing Chuckles you will find a compelling mix of action and adventure, hot sex scenes and a romance that will leave you with a smile on your face. So, if you like your cyborg sci fi romance to contain a grumpy dominant male who isn't afraid to dish out some delicious punishment to his misbehaving mate, then you need to pick this book up.

The crew of the Reckless, composed mostly of cyborgs, had noticed an unauthorised vessel. When they receive a call for help, they are wary. Upon speaking with the female, Bettina, Chuckles senses she's lying but also his genetic match. How could it be? She is human, and Chuckles hates all humans. But he has to see for himself. Bettina's and her team's mission is to track and capture sexual predators in space. The sexy cyborg doesn't act like a sexual predator, but he exudes such dominance that she is immediately turned on. And Chuckles is mesmerised by the sparkly, very colourful human female; his female.

What an intriguing start to a new series! I found it very compelling because of the complex relationships between the characters. Bettina's teammate Keeper is utterly fascinating, and I hope she gets her story very soon; she is fierce! I also loved Bettina's relationship with her dad and his caregiver Duggar; what great characters, and they are not the only fantastic ones. I just love the language and the fabulous dialogues. CHOOSING CHUCKLES has a BDSM element: there is spanking, and a D/s relationship between Bettina and Chuckles, baby and Sir. She's a bad, bad little human female, her big cyborg needs to reprimand her, and she thrives on being reprimanded. Bettina sparkles, literally: she covers herself with glitters, and she sports vibrant hair colours. We also get to watch the Humanoid Alliance "in action", and it's not pretty. I loved the planet Vega R and its furry beings, and I hope we go back again some day.

Oh, the cyborgs. I love Cynthia Sax's cyborgs. I can never, ever get enough of them. This one is the start of a new series within the same 'verse. Our cyborgs are going to be going where no being has ever gone before. Or, something like that.

I love Chuckles. I've liked him since we saw him first, even if he wasn't a fan of humans. There's just something about the damaged warrior that was so appealing to me. (Even if he isn't a C Model).

Bettina just seems like such a fun and bubbly person, who is actually perfect for Chuckles. I think their dynamic is just what both of them need and such a great way to make everyone happy.

I can't wait to see what Cynthia Sax is going to do next with our cyborgs.

Captivating and entertaining

I can’t get enough of this authors, this series, these characters. They’re so serious, sexy, unintentionally funny, and just so lovable. Each story is unique, though I think Chuckles and Bettina are now among my favorite. Maybe because of Bettina’s uniqueness, maybe because of the “furry” creatures. No matter, this story was wonderfully entertaining. Side note— though most books in this series are entertainingly bloody, the deaths in this story made me SO sad. =(

I do so love these cyborgs!
I love the cyborgs’ penchant for assigning percentages of probability to nearly everything!
Chuckles is not a humorous cyborg like Truth. Grim is more like it; stern is a given. He doesn’t show his affections openly, it’s in the little things he does. Bettina is a playful little being, always testing limits! She’s also loyal, dedicated to making sure her loved ones are safe, and receiving good care. Odd as it may seem, they’re a perfect match. Each provides something that is crucial to the happiness of the other. Reading their story is a pleasure from start to finish.
Ms. Sax has the skill to take her readers through the full gamut of emotions: the anger of someone severely wronged, the depths of sorrow when a friend is lost, the elation of love realized. It is difficult to move on from that. The next book I read may not get its due.

This is my second Cynthia Sax cyborg story, and I found it to be pretty enjoyable to read.

We have dour Chuckles—the world's most inappropriately named cyborg—and Bettina, a more kittens and rainbows and sparkles kind of gal who rocks a look suspiciously similar to Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad—but without the psychological trauma and criminal tendencies.

And when they get together? It's really quite enjoyable, as long as you do not have any hang ups about caregiver/little relationships. (If you do have problems with them, this will probably be a terrible read and you should just avoid it.)

I found Baby and Sir pretty amusing, especially since she's such a glutton for punishment.

Poor Chuckles, he tried.

Just, no. The author expects that you've read the previous series so I'm lost in the world, and the writing isn't keeping me here, either. Only got a little ways in before DNFing.

Not my favorite in this series. Chuckles is great but Bettina, the heroine, didn't really sell it for some reason. BDSM elements are present, but light.

Too Much Sex

I sorry but this book is basically H and h either having sex, thinking of sex, or the tstl h being spanked (and being turned on). I have to date purchased all of this series but, it seems with each book lately the quality of the story (and the storyline) are lost to constant sex. I feel that this will be the last book I will buy from this author.

The cyborg crew of Reckless, having been stripped of being an official faction of the cyborg nation fleet, are relegated to patrolling the outer fringes of Homeland cyborg air space. Though a low level security risk assignment, it gives the captain and crew a chance to prove their loyalty and worth to the cyborg council so as to eventually be forgiven for past infractions.

While out on routine patrol, a distress beacon is picked up originating from a small shuttle craft from a lone human female whose vessel has become disabled. While the circumstance itself may not be unusual, Chuckles, Reckless Chief Communications Officer, estimates a 99.9999% probability that the female is setting a trap but for what purpose is unknown. What Chuckles does know is that it is a 100% certainty that she is his mate which means he will go, regardless of any risk, to aid and retrieve her.

Bettina is part of an all women crew who cruise space on the lookout for skum. Skum as in male perverts who lure and sexually assault vulnerable females. Her role is to be the bait, posing as an attractive lone defenseless female in distress needing help. Those who think to capitalize on this situation end up being stunned into submission, stripped, imprisoned, relieved of ownership of their ship, and deposited on a random remote planet. The proceeds of the sale of their worldly effects deposited and shared among Bettina and her crew mates.

When her newest victim turns out to be a cyborg the crew wants to eject him into open space as cyborgs are emotionless predators who have no moral compass. The only good cyborg is a dead cyborg. It is only Bettina who fights to save him promising to personally deposit him, along with the others they've captured, on a planet or surrender her share of the profits if she fails.

Though a D Model cyborg, Chuckles is more than able to handle a human female as she's about to find out.

* * *

First installment in a spin off series that continues the adventures of my favorite cyborg characters in their ongoing journey to be independent and settle on their own planet, Homeland. Each installment is a stand alone so readers can pick and choose from the blurbs to decide which books in the series they want to read. Personally, they all have been winners.

This story sets up a new direction in the cyborg nation worldly adventure though it continues to skim and continue parallel series overall plot. While a few new details are added to peak a reader's interest in knowing what direction the author is taking, for the most part, this specific story is capsulated into being strictly Chuckles & Bettina's romance with a side stop twist adventure thrown in.

For those on a need to know basis, the romance does include adult erotic scenes though I'm torn in feeling their relationship dynamics is slanted to feature daddy kink or a form of BDSM glitterkink play. Maybe a fusion? Anyway, a good time is had by all over and over and over again. 😉 Seriously, my one take away is that this is a book for readers looking for quality smut in a loosely written story line adventure.

Secondary characters. Some good, some bad, and some just despicable. Personal shout out for furry beings and 'Blue Eyes' stealing any scenes they're in. Additionally, make sure to have tissues available just in case you react as I did over one pivotal scene.

This story does end with a vague teaser for the next installment. Personally, I didn't get much out of it but it does give the reader a thought in where the series will go next.

Not one of the stronger stories I've read by this author but still an enjoyable SciFi cyborg erotic romance that left me chuckling (pun intended).

I sooooo loved 'Choosing Chuckles'!!! 💖😍💖😍
I was both laughing & teary eyed for both Chuckles & Bettina (his bad, bad female), parts of the story broke my heart for Chuckles: how he expected humans to view/treat him, I thought Bettina was so sweet, so loving, so accepting, I adored how COLORFUL her character was & how she wanted to be that way, especially for Chuckles. I loved her father & his caretaker & their sarcastic bickering too.
But I found this one grabbed my heart as much as the author's Cyborg story 'Releasing Rage' (my all time fave of the author's cyborg stories & I love them ALL!). I was sucked into Chuckles story so damn much & I felt Bettina was perfect for him & he was perfect for her. (P.S. The sex in the author's books IMO: fine. Quality AND quantity wise!!) Oh, I did also get a LOT of CHUCKLES with Chuckles & Bettina's erotic relationship dynamic 😂😂, I thought it was extremely cute & sexy.
So, if you want a romance that grabs your heart & squeezes & satisfies it, that makes you teary eyed AND smile, that makes you chuckle, that has danger & action as well as a cute but sexy erotic dynamic between H/h, I SO RECOMMEND this one. This is a mandatory multiple REREAD for me!!!

Chuckles doesn’t care for humans. They are liars and aren’t for him till Bettina. She signaled them and stated she needed help but they all picked up on her trap. Chuckles has to get her because she is his mate but will he be able to care for a human like his Captain from the “Reckless.”

From the very beginning, Bettina showed her true self. She didn’t want to hurt anyone. She just wanted to be free and have enough to help her father and Duggar. When she meets Chuckles, she is no different. They both crave the other. I like how Chuckles learns that not all humans are deceitful. Bettina’s father and his friend are funny. You have to love the emotions that Chuckles is learning about and also being called “son.” So sweet. And it seems that once Bettina gets a taste of Chuckles, she is addicted. She is one “naughty girl.” Bettina reminds me of Joan from “Releasing Rage.” Well more of her calling him sir. And it’s fun how Bettina loves to tease and test Chuckles. These two are great.

Ever read one of those books where the hero is so cute you can't even? Not cute in a puppy dog and baby sort of way but in the "did he really not get where she was going with that?" type of way. I'm reading one of those at the moment and I just had to stop for a moment and share it with you. One of my favorite Syfy Romance authors had a new release last week and I'll admit... I love me some cyborgs. I find their humor, or lack thereof, hilarious. Chuckles is one of those heroes. I lost it at his not getting that not all cries a woman makes mean she's experiencing pain. The first time he asked the heroine "Are you damaged?" and she responded with "It's a good damage", I was done for. I absolutely love this book. Great start to a new series. And I can't wait to read Truth's story!

Chuckles is easy to Choose

I thought this book was a bit different, but I still viewed it as deeply romantic for those who were thought to be stern and unfeeling and those who were thought to be too provocative. These two need each other, Chuckles quickly knew what his “female” needed to feel loved. He was devoted proving that to her for her emotional well-being. Again, not her usual style, but it just adds texture and substance to the Cyborg universe.

My favorite book in this series so far!

I loved everything about this book! The characters were easy to love, there was a great storyline and the writing was strong, I really couldn't put it down. There was a lot of action of course, and some characters were loathsome, but they made the story deeper. Blue eyes though, that killed me. I think Chuckles and Bettina are perfect together. This story is a perfect mesh of action, romance and credible literary juice. I loved it.

Bad bad female lol. Fate definitely has her hands on these Cyborgs lives. For Chuckles to hear by chance a distress call from the one person who will test his patience at every turn.. epic. Loved their dynamic and how Chuckles sees her through the lies for what she truly is... after a good reprimand sighhhhh.

I can’t even explain why I like this book when so much of it was annoying.

I felt bad for Chuckles. I felt bad for the injuries that he felt made him unworthy and insecure. I felt even worse for him because of the idiot his character was saddled with. The author had to dumb him down for nearly ever conversation he had with Bettina. So much so, that I was waiting for it to degrade further into “Me Tarzan, you Jane”, territory. And it eventually did get to that level, but the author saved it for an interaction with another species and not between the love leads as I had expected. Smh lol.

Chuckles was a wonderful character. I loved the way he thought. Granted, I love the way the cyborgs think in general, but that’s neither here nor there. I wished he had been matched with a more mature and admirable character than Bettina turned out to be. She was a ditzy bimbo that was TSTL. I don’t read romances for bimbettes to get the guy and HEA. I like when romances depict normal women finding extraordinary happiness with there dream man. Bettina was immature, shallow, childly innocent, yet so irresistibly appealing to every male around. Yeah, right. While every now and again she was smart enough to out wit a man or cyborg. Now it’s the author who is thinking the readers are too stupid to see through that BS! Smdh.

Anyway, CS nearly ALWAYS writes side characters that I shed tears for and she did it again in this book with the furry beings and blue eyes. Why does CS want to make me cry?!? And why does CS keep writing these awesome extras only to take them away!?! Truthfully, the side characters saved this book. I was so annoyed by the time they were introduced I was about to start skimming. The three stars is for the furry beings, blue eyes, Duggar and Dad, Truth and Chuckles. Zero stars for the love story (I’m trying not to vomit at how stupid it was) and Bettina (I want to vomit at how stupid and annoying she was).

Enjoy if you can.

Series: Cyborg Space Exploration #1
Rating: 3 stars - I liked it

Chuckles hates all humans. When he answers a distress call sent by a pink and blue haired sparkly female he realizes it's a trap but he also knows she is his. Battina, aka Bait, works with a team of females, capturing predators, seizing their ships and transporting them to primitive planets. She doesn’t expect a cyborg but she can’t resist him.

This was a good cyborg romance. Chuckles was a very grim cyborg but Bettina really brings out his emotions. She makes him more than an angry machine. I was surprised by how much I liked Bettina. She was a beautiful human who uses that beauty as bait to catch sexual predators. Bettina was just a courageous woman who used her deadly job to support her father.

The sex in this one was steamy! Bettina is extremely submissive and just wants to be protected, which was perfect for an overprotective cyborg like Chuckles. She does like to get in trouble though so she can get disciplined, which was a lot. Basically the sex scenes in this book were great and worked wonderfully for these two character.

Sax’s writing has definitely improved since her first cyborg book. There is a lot more character and story development now than there was in the beginning, which makes these newer books a lot more fun, especially since they still have a lot of sex. Overall, this was a great start for a new series and I can’t wait for the other crew members to find their mates.

Chuckles you say?

We are back to the kink that this series started on. And if you don’t remember it’s not my fave.

But I did like the story otherwise.

Interesting job opportunities in this universe. I don’t know if the humans are meant to mirror something/someones in the here and now, or that is just how far, both good and the very bad, the human race had gotten by that time in the author’s version of the future.

But I now understand why some people fight for the bright shining star in our possible future called The Federation from Star Trek. Now that I have brought up Star Trek, I realize that the Humanoid Alliance is like the mirror verse.

Ok, back to this book.

So, I was interested at the start of the book to see how this would workout, once we understood the trap and knew things would not go according to plans.

When I understood their kink, I made a note to skim those parts just incase anything interesting came out of them.

I was so happy that she talked to him and it seemed they could come to a good compromise, over something she thought would break them apart, until the other ship showed up.

Not even a full plant rotation later and I almost cried for Blue Eyes.

Eleven planet rotations later we, as in the crew of the Reckless, have a mission that will bring them into contact with more beings and find a few mates along the way I’m sure. I’m looking forward to it.

Up next, Doc’s Orders. 😁
