Stacy Claflin writes about complex women overcoming incredible odds. Whether it's her Gone trilogy of psychological thrillers, her ongoing Transformed paranormal saga, or her Seaside Hunters sweet romance series, Stacy's three-dimensional heroines shine through.
Decades after she wrote her first stories on construction paper and years after typing on an inherited green screen computer that weighed half a ton, Stacy realized her dream of becoming a full-time author.
When she's not busy writing or educating her kids from home, Stacy enjoys watching TV shows like Supernatural, Pretty Little Liars, and Once Upon a Time.
This was packed with fantasy, a dash of romance and overall awesome MC but i really enjoyied the side characters as well. Plus their cheesy lines made me laugh hard.
Another series with cliffhangers. This one wasn't good enough to keep reading. This is the first time I've read a book with a Valkyrie as a main character. She's on a mission, but she's not getting it done. She screwed up and now others of her kind are out to bring her in for punishment. She just keeps running into more trouble. And she's fallen into love. She's also made a bunch of friends, too. Her magic is rather unique and kind of cool. Drinking essence. She's thousands of years old and knows lots of important and powerful people in this time and in the past. But I just didn't connect with her or any of the characters really. They all seem rather depressed. Losers, even though they win. It all falls flat.
Soleil is a Valkyrie That has been working for Walhalla for a lot of Time. Now she's in trouble- she killed someone she shouldn't kill and now shes on The Run. Add to it crazy witch That Also wants Her Head. This book will be crazy rollercoaster with a lot of events and constant angst. It was an ok read.
Book 1, is the Valhalla's Curse series opener, by Stacy Claflin. MC Soleil, is the Valkyrie of the title.Having become a fugitive/Renegade after killing an ancient witch and failing to kill a dictator, as contracted, Soleil's now being hunted by her own immortal kind and other enemies.
Aiding her concealment, is her hot, (so far platonic) mesmer roomie, Titan; they have each other's backs and save each other when the immortal 'chips' are down.
When does Soleil and Titan's relationship change? Who are Fox and Calla? How do Gessilyn and a royal vampire help Soleil?
With more twists and turns than a rattlesnake in a tumble-drier, Stacy Claflin's sure and certain talent makes Renegade Valkyrie a 5-star winner for all fantasy-loving readers from 9-99.
Grab yourself a copy today and let Soleil, Titan and friends whisk you away to a realm of magic, where you can forget your worldly cares and live interestingly ever after! (until the next great book).
Damn, I didn't know this story would end with a cliffhanger. I'm hooked on finding out what will happen to Soleil. She's a Valkyrie who used her sword to kill a witch so Valhalla is out for her. She wants to get her mission done, hoping they'll let her go without punishment or worse. She lives with a hot mesmer and while out dancing she finds herself in front of the witch who's sister she killed and now Eveline wants her death. Since this is an ancient witch she knows of the anti-Valkyrie call, so Soleil doesn't know how to kill her so she and Tristan go back to the club with a plan that goes terribly wrong. From there Soleil has to go through a lot in order to not being killed by Eveline. It's such a thrilling story that I wish I didn't have to wait for the next book to come out next month! Very well done Stacy, another series I can't get enough of!
I really give it 3.5 stars as it took me some time to get into the story
Having not read “The Curse of the Moon” series, I felt like I came into the middle of a movie and was confused about what was going on and why. That said, once I got more into the book, I grew to understand and enjoy the Valkyrie, Soleil. There is a lot of action throughout the entire book. Soleil rarely gets any downtime before she has to fight again. I especially like the fighting scenes with the witch.
It took me awhile to get into the book, but once I was, it was enjoyable. I like Fox’s character; he is never afraid to speak his mind to Soleil even though she could destroy him without even blinking. As this book came to the end, I was hooked on the story and invested in Soleil. I am very much looking forward to the next book.
💨Supernaturals galore as Soleil fights to remedy a HUGE mistake! ✴❇✴ May 12, 2018 Format: Kindle Edition 3.75 stars The prose was well-written and for those readers looking for non-stop supernatural battles, chases and the introduction of a whole army of varied supernatural characters, this will be right up your alley.
I felt a bit misled as the book blurb and the cover state this is part one of a new series, yet in the back of the book I learned that several of the main characters first appeared in other Claflin series. This would have explained why I felt that I was missing important pieces of background information I should know. I think the book blurb should have mentioned the connections to the prior books.
This adventure has a tinge of romance, but not much, and pits a driven and powerful revenge-seeking witch against the heroine, Soleil, and ... EVERYBODY! Humans are mentioned but barely appear as mesmers, djinns, faeries, vampires, witches and a plucky but very messed up Valkyrie get involved, all while Soleil is trying to avoid divine retribution. With all of the teleporting, magical rune doors, foreign language incantations and essence💨 breathing there was never a dull moment but, for me, it ran from one danger to the next at such breakneck speed that I never got attached to any of the characters.
I doubtless would have rated this better had I read the novels that provide the background for Soleil and some of her friends because the story is well-written and has an interesting plot dilemma with some interim resolution but a definite need to read further in the series to get a true ending.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
If there is anything that can be said about Stacy Claflin books, they’re like cocaine. You know it’s bad for you, but you just keep going back. Or at least I do.
This book was the best out of the four books I’ve read by her. Not saying much considering the others were dumpster fires. This one reads like it was written by someone whom has never read anything about Norse mythology.
Using Hades as a replacement for the word hell is stupid, because Hades is from Greek mythology. While in Norse there is a Goddess named Hel which is a Goddess of Death. I would’ve appreciated that pun way more than the disregard for different pantheons.
Soleil is the least stupid of any of the female characters Stacy has ever written. She does suffer from Not Like Other Girls syndrome.
Also her serving Valhalla is a curse apparently, which we don’t learn until the third to last chapter.
The biggest problem with this book is Soleil was originally a side character in Lost Wolf. So seeing her again is kind of annoying because it makes me feel like she rarely makes new characters. Same thing with Gessilyn being the witch from Lost Wolf and Deception.
Also Valkyries aren’t the same thing as vampires and werewolves, they’re tied to an entire mythology that does not couple well with modern times. A mythology that Claflin failed to learn anything about except there’s a place called Valhalla and Odin’s in charge. What about Freya, the Queen of the Valkyries? Also Valhalla is the Hall of the Gods inside Asgard not a place itself.
I refuse to rate this book because I’m addicted to torture and read these for fun. However I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone who likes Norse mythology or actual Valkyries.

An Angel of Death that has a good heart is exactly what Soleil is. She has to kill, it is her job but she also has friends, wants to save the good people who deserve it, and wants to stay alive.
Renegade Valkyrie is not a long story but there is a lot going on within its pages. There are side stories being shared that all tie into the main story. There are witches casting spells, vampires who will be asked to make donations of blood, and there are so many other paranormals that have stories to share. I am hoping to learn more about the Spice Store owner as not much was shared about him.
There are multiple characters that make appearances to help Soleil that I recognized from some of Stacy Claflin’s other books. I always enjoy catching up with old characters. What I liked about Renegade Valkyrie is that even if you haven’t read any of Stacy Claflin’s other books you will lose yourself in this story. You will meet characters that you will be curious to find out more about and you will be reading a great paranormal story.
Renegade Valkyrie is the 1st book in the Valhalla’s Curse series by Stacy Claflin.
An ancient witch is after Soleil, an angel of death, and she must save herself without alerting the leaders of Valhalla about her location.
For those that have read the Curse of the Moon series, you will get to revisit some old friends as well as make new ones. The author does an excellent job of explaining who the characters are and what their powers are, so if you haven’t read the other books, you won’t be lost.
It was an action-packed book full of mesmers, djinns, faeries, vampires, witches and, of course, Valkyrie.
I couldn’t put this one down and cannot wait for book #2.
I received this book as a gift and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I never thought after Brick it was possible. However, for her to get a happy ever after it has to right? As heartbroken as she was I am surprised it happens after only 3 years though. And with a mesmer? Soleil also has a new enemy. It turns out Azure had a sister who wants to avenge her death. Never mind the fact that they had a falling out. This witch is just as evil as her sister. She even has someone trapped in a magical world. We meet a djinn named Fox that I really like. I feel several times Soleil doubted his intentions & jumped to wild conclusions. Even though Soleil is away from her family she calls Tap, Zamaria & Gess when she gets in trouble. Now I need to read the next one to find out if she escaped her superiors at the end.
I received Renegade Valkyrie from the author/publisher. The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion.
I'm a fan of the Curse of the Moon series, which birthed Soliel's Valkyrie character, and I was anxious to see where her story (and challenges) would take her. The overall plot was good, and I loved the main female protagonist, Soliel, but I wasn't too fond of Titan, who paled in comparison to her vibrant character. He seems like a nice guy, but doesn't match her as well as I'd hoped. I loved Fox, who seemed a more animated. I look forward to the next book, hoping that Titan will grow more confident so he can match Soliel's strength of character.
Soleil is a valkyrie; an angel of death assigned by Valhalla overlords to take the life of specific evil entities. But Soleil broke the rules, and now she's in hiding, trying to avoid capture and a trial. Her roommate and best friend Titan, is by her side.
But Soleil is under attack from multiple sources: a vicious, evil witch bent on revenge; and Soleil is also fighting an inner battle: her growing attraction to Titan.
Loved this book; absolutely devoured it! It captured my attention from the first sentence and didn't let go! Can't wait for the next one!
It's strange that her brick came through 2 her in a dream 2 tell her it was OK 2 love another. He should have never been killed!! There needs 2 b a way 2 bring him back. Even though she saved her friend and killed that psycho witch she risked her own life and she was starting 2 feel 4 sumone else. It's both confusing and unique 2 her way of life. Even though she's at risk from other valkyrie she's haunted by that psycho witch's sis. It's good that she stopped and made a few new friends and still has old friends 2 help her out. Hopefully asap she can catch that psycho dictator and most of all problems could b gone 4 good. We can hope...
I have been provided with a copy of Renegade Valkyrie by the author for an impartial review. This is the first book in the brand new series Valhalla’s Curse and wow what a great way to start off a new series. This series features Soleil that we previously met in the Curse of the Moon series and I am just so happy to finally get some more books with her in it. She is just such a great character and I had fun going along with her. This book was such an easy book to get lost in and I loved getting to see old characters as well as meeting some new ones. I loved these characters and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
This is an amazing read that I could not put down no matter what. The story is amazing and keeps you interested all the way through. The characters are out of this world. You cannot help but fall in love with them and you want to know more and no matter what happens you want o see them overcome everything that may get in their way. No matter what they have to do in order to succeed. The book moves along at a great pace making it a nice comfortable read. This has to be read, no doubt about it.
Renegade Valkyrie - It's a cliffhanger. Well written and intriguing, I didn't feel lost when past happenings or characters were referenced; I had only read Lost Wolf. The characters are interesting and some are funny; looking forward to their continued growth. I do think Soleil has too many weaknesses for a Valkyrie when battling or teleporting or with T, but that's my opinion about someone with her age and experience and purpose.
Soleil, an angel of death, has a mission to accomplish in order to return to Valhalla. But she has to stay low because she’s broke the law and now she has a powerful witch trying to kill her. But with her friends help she will try to defeat the witch and fight for her freedom. A fantastic world that keep you reading until the end. Looking forward to read more about soleil, Titan and their friends.
I loved the Curse of the Moon series and couldn't wait to read Soleil's story. She is still mourning the loss of Brick - loved them as a couple. A powerful witch is after her but can you really kill an angel of death? Titan is a great bff and liked how their friendship grew to more. Fox was a great addition and hope to see him in book 2. Got to see some characters from previous series by this author. So looking forward to the next book.
This is a good start to a series. I first I would have given this book a rating of 3 stars but it really picked up and tweaked my interest. I only have it 4 stars later because eventhough it reads as a new series, I feel that there is a ton of stories about the other characters that should be read first. Most definitely getting the other books in this series!!
Love, love, love how we finally get to see how some of the characters from this authors "The Transformed" series started off. I loved that Soleil is friends with Gessilyn and that Soleil does not conform to the cookie cutter Valkyrie. All the troubles Soleil faces is due to her killing someone with her sword which was a big no-no. I can not wait to see what is in store for the rest of this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book
I originally didn’t think I would like this book when I started reading it. I prefer the old ways when it comes to the Viking mythology but I love the mixture of modern day along with many supernaturals and a touch of romance. I was not able to stop reading and spent 2 nights up many hours later than expected. I would read this book a second time. I’m definitely looking forward to more from this writer!!
I loved this story. Stacy brings Soleil to life in such a way that you can picture yourself going they everything right along with her. Having the brief scene with Brick had me in tears. You have a wide range of emotions in this book & the cliffhanger ending definitely left me wanting more.
Totally enjoyed this. I don't read a lot of Fantasy/Science Fiction but this book had me intrigued so I took the chance and am glad I did. What great magical characters.....Angel of Death, fairies and witches just to name a few. This had a good storyline which held my interest through the whole book. I will definitely be waiting for the rest of the series.
( I received a digital copy of the book . Thanks to Stacy Claflin !! )
I've been waiting for this book since quite some time and soon as I got my hands on it, I couldn't stop myself from devouring it. This was a really good book that I do recommend to paranormal lovers.
It was good to meet the older characters and new ones all the same.
Yay Soleil!! Loved getting more of her perspective on things. Found this book as enjoyable as the early Curse of the Moon books, loved meeting a largely new cast of characters and learning a new environment, with hints of her old life too. And the references to her much older past are really fun too, I hope they keep coming!
Soleil is a Valkyrie that is hiding from the others because she killed a witch to save a friend instead of killing who she was supposed to kill. She has been living with a merman named Titan. Unknown to Soleil, the witch had a sister that vowed revenge. A lot of excitement and suspense throughout the book. I enjoyed reading it.
Don't mess with this angel! First in the Valkyrie series I have read - and will read more. Having just read 'Gone' (different series) by the same author and been a teensy-weensy bit disappointed, 'Renegade Valkyrie' hit the spot. Loved the characters, great dialogue and plenty of creative action. Wish it had been longer ...
