About the author

James McMullan is an illustrator and designer of theatrical posters. Born in Tsingtao, Republic of China, where his grandparents had emigrated from Ireland as missionaries for the Anglican Church, he and his mother fled to Canada at the onset of World War II.
He is married to children's book author Kate McMullan.

Great book, which I had as a supplement to an ever greater class by James MacMullan at SVA. Once my ego was put aside and I let this method take over, it really revolutionized the way I drew for the better. It still informs the work I do today.
