In Pruning, Training and Tidying, Bob Flowerdew draws on his long experience as an organic gardener to guide you through the process in his customary clear and straightforward manner. He explains when is the best time of year to prune each plant, tree or shrub, and gives clear instructions on where and how to cut. He provides advice on selecting and using the best tools and equipment, and tips on how to increase cropping and flowering. Bob also gives handy and imaginative suggestions to guide you through the seemingly never-ending task of keeping your garden trim and tidy. One in an indispensable series of books, Pruning, Training and Tidying will answer all your queries and help you achieve a well-maintained and prosperous garden.
Short and to the point, it touches all of the basics of pruning flowers, fruit trees and ornamental trees in the garden. I learned about 5 key things, was reinforced on some previously good pruning habits, but walked away with a kind of empty , vague feeling about this book. I think that if I want to see a better picture of how to prune a certain kind of plant or tree, I will be turning to YouTube.
Short and to the point. It will definitely get you through the basics but if you need specifics for individual plants (spoiler: you eventually will), this isn't going to be much help.
