Fourteen year old twins Billy Dean and Billie Jean Randal were the only two people left alive when a gang of twelve men hit the two family covered wagons. They were camped just off the old El Camino Real, right on the Rio Grande. Dean and Jean Randal had bought the huge Eduardo Salazar farm and ranch just a few short miles from Dona Anna, New Mexico. They made it this far, all this long way from just south of Albuquerque when bandito’s hit. After camp was set up for the night, Billy and Billie went down to the river hoping to catch a batch of fish. They heard the gunfire and started running from the trees into open ground when Billy saw how many men there was. He grabbed Billie and slammed her to the ground, holding his hand over her mouth to stop the screams. “Don’t touch that forty five, just get a look at their horses and faces! There is nothing we can do I see Mama and Daddy lying on the ground. Remember those faces Billie Jean every one of them.” An hour later they were on their knees beside their parents, crying. “Whatever will we do without them Billy?” “You’ll see, let’s load them in the back wagon and bury them on the farm when we get there tomorrow.”
As all Shorty Thompson books, this another masterpiece by Mr. Paul Thompson, and they all seem to get better with each issue. If you aren't happy with one exciting episode, just turn another page, as the excitement will definitely increase. There is enough gunplay to satisfy the most demanding reader's attention and expectations. Great job by an outstanding author!
I have read all of Shorty's outstanding western adventures and they all were given five stars, and this one is definitely worthy of the same five! Mr. Thompson, the author, is very one of the most prolific writers I have had the opportunity to follow, and surprisingly, all novels I have read by him is above and beyond all others. I am a Joe Pickett freak, and Shorty might just be a little better than his dominating escapades. This, as all of Shorty's series, is definitely family-friendly and very heartwarming experiences from beginning to end. It is as if I am riding along with the Marshal, and his cohorts, as they bring the bad guys to justice. Mr. Thompson does an outstanding job with his character selections, as well as his storylines, without exception. There is enough gunplay episodes throughout the entire story to satisfy the whims of those of us seeking such vengeance! I, without hesitation, recommend recommend this compassionate masterpiece to everyone, regardless of your preference of stories, as I assure you will be completely satisfied with the wholesome reality of another successful Shorty Thompson accomplishment! Too, if you have never read any of Shorty's escapades, then it is time you begin. I have had the opportunity to read everyone, and all are definitely representative of our true old American western folklore adventures. Fortunately, all are stand alone novels, but read them all to really enjoy the concept of old western adventures at their very best. Read them, or become another loser!😂
The parents and a good friend were all murdered for nothing, now their son and daughter with the help of Shorty and two twin brothers who were gold miners help to shave down the amount of thugs who are trying to murder U. Everybody knows that you have to pay the "PIPER," one way or another, and thats what going to happen to these gang leaders and members. Whenever U. S. U.S. MARSHAL SHORTY THOMPSON -Blood Over the Horizon : Tales of the Old West
As usual PLT delivered another tale from the Old West that told a story of people who was willing to kill anyone who who had the had the bad luck to cross paths with these bad guys. It was full of twists and turns that I just didn't see. BRAVO 👏👏BRAVO 👏GREAT READ!!
Hard to believe Mr. Thompson has had 65 prior chances to get it right and can't do better than this. Sir, a spell checker is not a copy editor. Which you desperately need. Only reason I gave it two stars is I dearly love the Las Cruces area and you got that right.
This book is set near the US/Mexico border. I like that. This is probably close to 30 of the Shorty T books I have read. I enjoyed them all. Until Paul T. Louis L was my favorite go to author for Western fun and entertainment. There is more blood and guts in Paul's work, but the writing still holds my attention, and makes the books page turners, EVERY-TIME. This is an easy 5 star also.
but the slug bounces off his head. another pair of twins rides with Shorty seeking justice for the murders of their parents. Was there a lot of twins in the west? or just in Pauls tales? either way another good read. thanks Paul
This shorty story was as good as it gets, very interesting and very easy to follow. Excellent new twist with the twins added into the mix. Keep em coming and we will keep reading them, thanks.
