READ IT BECAUSE

It's a fascinating insight into the sons of Sanguinius, with intrigue-filled plots, memorable characters and some great action.

DESCRIPTION

In this epic tale of brotherhood and darkness, the Blood Angels face strife from within when Brother Arkio claims to be a reincarnation of Sanguinius, the Blood Angels’ spiritual father. His message is clear: follow me or die. With no other choice, his brother Rafen kneels before this prophet of the Blood and swears an oath of devotion. But in his heart, Rafen knows that Arkio cannot be allowed to lead the Chapter into darkness. A reckoning is coming, one that they will not both survive. A devastating civil war ensues, and as the ashes settle, the Blood Angels face a further dire crisis and must call together their Successor Chapters or face extinction. But the sons of Sanguinius have many enemies, and this audacious scheme to rebuild their ranks comes under threat by the machinations of the arch-traitor Fabius Bile.

This gave me such an in depth look at not just the Blood Angel's but a better understanding of the Adeptus Astartes in general. I found out that there are numerous chapters who hail to Sanguinious(this happened after the Horus Heresy). They all don't get along real well, as some of them are a bit more Savage then the actual Blood Angel's and they are jealous of the Blood Angel's due to how much closer they are to Sanguinious than the others.

This omnibus follows Rafen. A steadfast, never flinching Space Marine of Faith to the Emperor and his primarch Sanguinious(who died in the Horus Heresy, fighting his brother Horus...which you will learn about some in this book and more if you were to read the Horus Heresy which I plan to do)

Rafen doesn't have it easy(no Space Marine does). Everything is thrown at him along with the kitchen sink. Many times I could see where someone who would lose faith and give up but he doesn't have that luxury, for he believes in the cause and many of his brethren and his superiors believe in him.

I continue to grow my knowledge in the 40K universe but I have a long way to go. I like the Blood Angel's alot since they are really the only Space Marines I've really only read about. But I will read about more.

Look for more of my reviews to come.

Okay pulp with moments of greatness

This omnibus is probably a 3.5 on the whole. There are gripping moments interspersed with occasional slogs. Raven was a decent enough character and I enjoyed learning a little more about the lore of the Blood Angels.

I enjoyed the fist and third books in this collection. The other two seemed rushed and sub par.
