When Grace Collins braves the oncoming storm to make her court hearing, she has one thing on her mind — preventing her ex-husband from gaining custody of their daughter. But when her car strikes another on the way there, she is stranded down an embankment with no one else but the injured stranger she collided with. Frantic at the thought of losing her little girl, Grace is determined to find help before it’s too late. But the storm is here to stay, and when her calls for help go unanswered, the two strangers are forced to work together to survive. But who is this man? Why does Grace bare her soul's dark secrets to him? Can she trust him? Saving Grace is a journey through one woman’s fight to survive an abusive marriage, and find the strength to start her life over for her and her daughter. ** Formally published under Jodie Szarmach
This book will tear your heart apart emotionally and eventually put it back together. The feelings are so real. The book is written in away that you feel as if you are there, a part of the story. I loved how as Grace is telling Greg about her life, trying to keep them both fighting for their lives after the accident, is written from the POV of the person she is talking about at the time. You feel the anger her ex has. Grace learns she needs to fight. I was completely enthralled and couldn't stop reading.
I honestly wasn't certain what I was getting myself into. Saving Grace was not among the paranormal romance books I normally consume so I wasn't certain how involved I'd feel with the characters and plot. I was incredibly wrong in being skeptical. The main character is a strong, yet damaged woman finding herself after an abusive relationship. I immediately loved both the main character and her daughter, feeling protective over them before the story even took off. The dialogue between characters feels so real you can't help but be dragged into the story immediately, feeling their struggle and pain as strength is revealed and...without spoiling too much...the true saving 'Grace' of those who can come into your life and turn things upside down. This story is unlike any others I've read. With lovable characters, realistic situations, and an ending that leaves you with ALL the feels, I recommend this book to any and ALL. Can't wait to see what story Jodie writes next!
This is my first time reading a book by Jodie, but I will definitely read more. Saving Grace was such a hard book to read emotionally. It focuses on a very hard subject. It was written so well, I could picture myself being Grace. More than once, I ducked my head and shed a tear. I absolutely love Greg and Gabe. I wish the ending was based on a true story. Definitely read this but be careful if you have a hard time with physical abuse subjects.
This book will take you on a journey through one woman's fight to give her daughter a safe life. Her story is painful, complicated and yet still entwined with the beauty of her strength an courage. Not all heroes fight on a battle field. This is a story of a mother's love an determination when no one else will help her, except maybe a stranger trapped in the snow with her.
First: *trigger warning* this book deals with domestic abuse. If you need help please call the national hotline 1−800−799−7233. You Are Not Alone
This was a very gritty and sensational book. There was no sugar coating what was happening. You get a first person view with no apologies. It is real. It is painful. It is beautifully written.
This book was incredible. I was drawn in from the first page and couldn't put it down. The characters were well developed as was the story line. Grace is such a strong woman who never gave up the fight. The story was well written and didn't have any unnecessary drama.
This book definitely is amazing. It touches on a sensitive subject which is domestic violence but how this author handles it pulls you in. You feel for the main character but you see her strength and and her willingness to fight and to start her life a new. It's a beautiful story and does have triggers but it's written with passion and hope. I recommend this book to everyone.
An extremely well written, emotional rollercoaster of a story! I couldn't put it down, needing to know how things ended up for Grace and I was not disappointed. The DFV was heartbreaking and I loved the included help at the end. Looking forward to reading more from Jodie!
A call arrived at the 911 call center regarding a child death, cause drowning after swimming and during a nap. Aaron was on duty and the stress resulted in alcoholism and severe domestic abuse. Then abusing his daughter, 4 years old.
This is a fantastic book about overcoming an abusive relationship and finding out that there are good people in the world. I would recommend this to needing a good heartfelt book. Fair warning, if you have triggers from domestic abuse, read with caution.
This is so real, so intense. There’s nothing being held back. It touches on domestic violence with tact and with beauty. It’s a wonderful story about healing and a mother who will do whatever she can to keep her child from the horrors of her father.
Fantastic book. This book follows Grace, who has a dissaponting and abusive past. The book writes in the past and present to give a well rounded view of our main character. I could not put this book down. Well worth a read, you will not regret it
It's dark and has triggers. If your sensitive to abuse this is not for you. But it is done so tastefully. Its honest, raw. Not sugar coated sympathy but real.
This book was a well written book. The characters are relatable and well developed. This book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster journey with Grace, so have your tissues handy. My attention was captured from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put the book down.
