Enemy to Lover: 3-Book Collection

Rate this book
Last month Devon was the obnoxious prick I should’ve hated.
Now, I’m carrying his baby and he’s the only one who can protect me…

We were both in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Strangers who caught each other in our worst moment.

He was a hardened and damaged single dad just trying to do whatever it takes to provide for his daughter.

And now he’s the only one who knows my secret and can protect me.

That night we met he was arrogant, obnoxious and cocky… the type of guy I despise.
But the heated way he looks at me, his eyes tracing my curves,
I can feel he wants to claim me as his own.

The chemistry between us is undeniable.
My head says “No”, but my body and heart have a different plan…

And now I’m accidentally pregnant.
What’ll happen when he finds out he’s the father?

Single Dad Protector: A bad boy single day romance with plenty of drama, plot twists, lots of feels, undeniable chemistry, that all lead to love and a HEA.

**I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.**

The premise of Enemy to Lover was more forced than I thought it was going to be. I had a hard believing that Brianna, with her personality would do something so shady as forge documents to prove a point saving a company that I couldn’t understand why she was so vested in. OK, I get the pride thing, and that Brianna wants to succeed on her own, but risking jail time and a criminal record just to save a company that is not tied to her family name? I had a hard time believing that even the most clueless of business managers would resort to criminal activity just to save some company that she was hired to run.

I had too much trouble hitting the “I Believe” button that Brianna was as stupid as to be criminally inclined with the company. Devon I could buy and definitely empathize with. I don’t look good in bright orange overalls. A military career in the Infantry drove any desire for prison or criminal activity from me at an early age.

Other than the rocky start and the trouble that I had with the premise of Devon’s and Brianna’s meeting the rest of the book was great. Having a child myself with special needs made me appreciate Devon’s situation. I am fortunate that my child’s health concerns are not nearly as severe as the child in Enemy to Lover. I am also fortunate that I was in the military when my children were born, so I had medical care for my family.

There is a reason that shows such as Breaking Bad were so popular in the US. Many people could understand becoming a criminal to pay medical bills. I could certainly empathize with Devon as lacking the care that my child received due to me being a service member; I would have done anything for my child.

Sex occurs a little later than I expected. I sorta expected Devon and Brianna to hook up during their first meeting. Sex is safe, and other than some office liaisons (who hasn’t fantasized about that) fairly vanilla. I liked that the first sexual liaison was initiated by Brianna. A woman who is confident in her sexuality is very attractive. I also like the fact that Brianna was prepared by having condoms in her purse. Too many times we ok guys carrying condoms, but make women feel as if they are whores or overly promiscuous (like that is anybody’s business) if they carry condoms.

The torn condom was obvious and it was another spot that I felt could have been written better as usually the man discovers the torn condom when he goes to clean up. Unless Devon was completely clueless he should have realized that there was a leak. Devon using an old condom was also stupid, but he would not be the first or the last man to use an old ragged condom that has ridden around in his wallet for years. Perhaps a little more developmental editing would have helped at this point.

As a member of the author’s ARC team I enjoyed getting an early look at her latest book. I wish that there was a better way that I could have helped with some of the obvious mistakes in the ARC. I hope that the ARC’s inconsistencies and errors were fixed prior to release.

I really wanted to like it.

I’m conflicted... I loved the characters and the idea she was trying to bring to fruition. The stories had good bones and amazing potential. It’s almost like the storyline was too big for the pages agreed to. Some stuff was confusing because it seemed like the story skipped ahead to get it all in. It’s like when you watch a movie on tv and there is the disclaimer at the beginning “This film has been modified from its original version to run in the time allotted” To be honest, between the watered down storyline and all of the grammatical errors, it was really hard to finish. The three stories could be amazing if they were more full length instead of novellas, and maybe a new editor and some beta readers .. I don’t think I’ve given up hope just yet.

Well this wasn’t what I really was expecting. I mean it’s a great quick read.

When Devon’s girl up and leaves after literally giving birth to their daughter, he steps in and becomes the devoted father anyone could ask for. Devon will do anything to keep seeing Kerry smile and make know that she is taken care of.

While their finances are not the greatest he knows something needs to happen soon and when he is given a job, he didn’t expect for someone to be there, much less be breath taking.

Brianna wants to exceed in her job, but when you work with people who won’t allow that, sometimes you just have to do something that will make them see. Well while working after hours she didn’t expect for tall brooding man to come in and change her life.

Now these two have a secret that no one know and do all of this without falling for one another. For how long?

Great quick read that will keep you wanting more.

Devon and Brianna would have never met under normal circumstances. Devon is a single father barely making it and would do anything for money. Brianna is a trust fund baby who wanted to prove that she could make it on her own. They met at her office, both of them doing something they shouldn't have, and they ended up exchanging numbers in case something came up and assuring they wouldn't squeal on the other. I loved the characters, especially Kerry Anne, Devon's daughter. This is a quick read that I couldn't put down. I recommend this book.

This book by Haley Pierce was a quick and enjoyable story that was definitely an extreme opposites attract plot. Take a high level CEO. Take a low level petty thief. What other possible connections could they have together other than they were both liars. Right? Wrong. This was their story of a sensual and hot sexy romance, but it was also a very tender emotional read involving a daughter as well as some very unhappy past history for its main characters. As usual the characters go on a roller coaster ride of emotions from lust to love with a dash of fear of betrayal thrown in for good measure. I loved that it was the other way around - than it usually is - rich girl and poor boy.
Devon and Briannas first meeting was wonderful - what they both were doing in the office. Both with different reasons, but with good intentions (at least Brianna thought that about herself).
The characters were well described and you wanted it to go well for them.

Okay, so not the story I was expecting when I started! I loved Devon's character even with his flaws and his ability to love his daughter. Brianna was great also. Wanting the life she wanted despite having everything she could ever want.
Don't let the title fool you or the storyline once it gets going. Definitely worth the read!!

Proofreading night mare

Overall quality of writing was ok. Storylines in each story were good. Problem was the proofreading and the abrupt endings. Although there are plenty of military or football type of stories out there, the author had a unique approach. Truly would have liked to give more stars, just couldn't with stumbling over the many glitches in proofreading. All stores have no cheating or cliffhanger and end on a happy note.

This is a very good romance 3 book set that is well-written, with surprises, twists, steam. All the stories have developed characters . There is undeniable chemistry, even though personalities are at odds. The characters are developed and the storylines have very good descriptions.

Devin has trust issues. The girl he was in love with left him and their daughter. Brianna doesn't has time for a relationship. She's too busy with her job. He's poor, she's rich. Can these two find happiness or are their lives too different? It was a good read. I enjoyed it and the characters.

Devon & Brianna come from different areas in life. The way they connect isn’t what I expected. My ovaries exploded with Devon and his daughter. Their story was so much more than I thought it would be and I fell in love with this couple. Good writing and the characters created were easy to relate to.

OMG

How can 3 books all be amazing? I read reviews all the time that go into such details about the story. This won't be one of those reviews. I thoroughly enjoy each story, especially the last one. I found a new favorite author when I should be sleeping.

Devon was a struggling father with a daughter hooked up to heart monitors while sleeping. Although he had medicare to help assist with the medical bills, Devon needed other support and that was his petty crimes. While in the midst of doing a crime he comes across the CEO Brianna, while she's undermining her team for their wrong doing. So they basically cover each other back and the plot starts to thicken and Devon is then hired by Brianna and turns the issue around and the marketing is absolutely working. The board members are very happy; however now the police are getting closer to solving the case and Brianna is thinking on her feet. What will happen with these two and will Devons daughter Kerry Anne finally have a happy ending also?
