God's Favor: Experiencing the Life God Wants You to Have
One of the great privileges we have as Christians is finding favor from the Lord. Yet our understanding of "favor" can be off. We are sometimes told it's all about us--that God gave us that house, that car, that job so we can have all we need. But his provision doesn't stop with us. In this fascinating, empowering book, Gary Wilkerson, pastor and president of World Challenge, paints a bigger, brighter, and more biblical picture of what God's favor is. He shows how our loving Father showers his abundant resources upon us--things like forgiveness, restoration, peace, joy, power, and authority--not only to bless us with a favored, happy life, but for us to joyfully demonstrate this favor to others, whether they are friends, family, or strangers on the street. Because God's favor is not meant to end with us--it is meant to show the beauty of his unearned grace to a hurting, unbelieving world.

When it can seem hard to find God’s favor in your life, that is when we need to look deeper to see all that we take for granted and thank God for all that he does that we might not even realize.
As Christians we want to find favor from God. The problem is we can easily take for granted all that we are favored with and don’t even realize. Pastor Gary Wilkerson gives us a more in-depth picture of what it really means to find God’s favor. Even when we don’t see it, God is pouring out his blessings, forgiveness, restoration, joy, peace, and so much more in our lives. By God pouring out this favor on us, we can in turn show his love and favor to family and friends. God’s favor isn’t meant to end with us, there is a whole wide world out there waiting to experience all God has to offer.
When things are going well, it is easy to thank God for his favor and blessings. When things are not so great, that’s a different story. In this book, Wilkerson shows us in scripture how to look beneath the trouble we see and find a deeper blessing in the hard times. We are never promised a trouble free life if we believe, but we are promised that God will be with us through the good times and the bad. I have found lately that we must take these bad times for all they are worth and use them to help us appreciate the good times even more. One of my favorite lines in the book is at the beginning, “When things go south know that God is up to something!” When it is hardest to see God working for us is when He is fighting the hardest to bring us what is best for us. It may not be exactly what we want, but that’s ok, it will be even better than we could have imagined if we will just remember who He is. God loves us and wants us to feel his favor, he is never against us and we can relish in the fact that He is always at work FOR us! I recommend this book especially to anyone going through a hard time finding God’s favor in their life and needing reassurance of His love.
I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.

WHY I CHOOSE THIS BOOK
I'm familiar with the author's work in general, and I've read books by various family members, therefore reading one of his books is something I was interested in.
WHAT I THOUGHT ABOUT THIS BOOK
I was really expecting to give this book a higher rating when I went into it, but sadly there were several things that brought the rating to three stars. To be concise, I'm going to give some pros and cons.
Pros:
*Mr. Wilkerson does a good job at explaining what God's favor is, and what it isn't. In a culture where a lot of people seem to think having God's favor means getting whatever they want, I really appreciated this
*The book was written in simple language that is easy to understand, with a lot of biblical accounts backing up what Mr. Wilkerson said, as well as modern-day examples that help make the book relatable
*Mr. Wilkerson ends the book by talking about God's unlimited favor, versus His ultimate favor. This part was my favorite as it really made me stop and think about how I live my life
Cons:
*There were multiple times that I felt like Mr. Wilkerson took verses out of context or interpreted accounts from the Bible in ways that weren't consistent with what was actually being said. Most of these were very small occurrences, but they happened enough times that it lowered the rating of the book for me
*Some of the examples of God's favor in modern days that Mr. Wilkerson used rubbed me the wrong way - I didn't agree with how things were handled, or that what we were seeing was actually God's favor being shown. This could very well have been me misinterpreting the stories, but it made me slightly skeptical as I read
*I had a few issues with the balance of how the overall book was presented.
RATING
I’m giving God's Favor 3 out of 5 stars - Chosen Books graciously gave me a copy so I could review it for y'all. As always, the thoughts are my own.

This is the first book I have read by Gary Wilkerson, even though I have been familiar with his father, David’s, books for many years. I was curious to see if I would find this book as edifying as David’s, and I’m happy to say that it was.
This book was a wonderful source of inspiration with examples of how God’s favor, and how tenderly our Heavenly Father cares for us. On the other hand, it also provides a reminder that Christians often go through some tough periods too.
Thank you Gary. I’ll be looking for more books by you.

Favor
God's favor is available for all of us, all the time. We have to believe and receive His favors, and his ultimate favor of having Him in our presence.

The ultimate blessing is His presence
I enjoyed this book, it was a reminder that the presence of the LORD is the unlimited and ultimate blessing. We were designed to be in relationship with our creator and that relationship is restored through Christ Jesus. Thank you for the book Gary.

This is a very sweet and gentle book written with such precision to really touch people who struggle with understanding God's favor. I found this book to be very pastoral in approach and so I believe that it will be not only well received by many but transformational for those who read it.
