The arrogant bastard is back…

I promised myself I was done with one-night stands…but when Tyler pressed his muscular mountain man body against mine that all went out the window.

He swept in and rescued me from the hell I was living in. He made me feel wanted, needed, safe. I fell for him hard.

And then, he left…with a note. No goodbye, no ‘I’m sorry’ just a pathetic note.

Now he’s back…showing up at my best friend’s wedding, demanding a second chance.

Not that it matters, I’m done with him.

Except that I’m still madly in love with him and can’t stop thinking about ripping that suit off his delicious body…It’s fine, I’m fine. As long as he doesn’t kiss me…or touch me…or look at me I’ll be fine!

He says this time is different. This time he’ll protect me and make me his, no matter what it takes. But can I trust him after he broke my heart?

This second book in the Mountain Ridge Series by Alexis Winter gives us the story of Tyler and Amy. Tyler is the ranch hand at Vesper and Liam’s ranch. Amy is Vesper’s best friend and employee at the vet clinic. The author, Alexis Winter, has done a great job flowing book 1 into this follow-up book. The characters are in both books and it is kind of a continuation of sorts, although you wouldn’t necessarily have to read the previous book to know what’s going on. I liked the characters, the storyline, and the growing relationship between Amy and Tyler. There was a bit of heat in this. Overall a recommended and enjoyable read for me!

Wow! A lot of emotions brought about. Amy is dealing with her alcoholic mom. Her and Tyler are sweet and intense together. Talk about running HOT PASSION! I got really sad and wanted to binge on food when Amy got the letter from Tyler. Her goal of opening her dream business a couple days later kept her motivated and moving! A big theme is FORGIVENESS!

All I could think of while reading this book was that it needed some editing by Kevin Malone.

description

This book is just sooooooo overwritten. It was honestly really hard for me to get through. It's just not necessary to provide such a level of detail to things as mundane as the heroine drinking coffee or washing her hair. I know a freshly brewed pot of coffee is hot. You don't need to explain it. I know the heroine's hair is dark because it was explained in the first chapter. You don't need to remind me of it every time she touches her hair throughout the book. And I seriously do not care what scent of shampoo she uses. Unless there's a part of the story where the hero is commenting on how it smells familiar or reminds him of something, it's completely useless information. There is a lot of useless information in this book.

description

And then, if you can manage to get past the excessive wordiness and unnatural sounding dialogue, you're stuck reading about a really terrible relationship. I'm sorry, but Tyler is just too much of an asshole. He and the heroine, Amy, hookup after a night at a bar, and he leaves the next morning without even saying bye. A week goes by, and the only reason Tyler speaks to Amy again is because she shows up at the ranch he works at. He had absolutely no interest in finding her again on his own.

description

And, even worse, since Amy has no self-respect, when Tyler very clearly informs her that he has absolutely no interest in a relationship, she immediately thinks to herself that she can wear him down eventually.

description

This relationship is really just a dumpster fire from the very beginning, and I couldn't find anything romantic about their story at all. The dumping by letter mentioned in the precis happens 3/4s through the story, so there's really no chance to feel like this relationship can be fixed before the end of the book. And reason he leaves is so stupid...He could have told her in person. He could have invited her along or done an LDR. But, he's an asshole so.....

I know the difference between a hookup and the beginning of something. And this is one epic beginning, even if he doesn’t see it.

It's the second book in Mountain Ridge series. I'm glad I got the ARC and decided to read this.
Both Liam(book 1) and protect me(book 2) were captivating stories, stories which you remember but Protect Me was written much more amazingly.

He pulls me behind him, across the hardwood floor, until we’re standing in the center of the dance floor where he spins around and pulls me against his firm body. When my chest presses against his, the force knocks the air from my lungs and our eyes lock. My lips part with my heavy breathing.

Tyler is the Ranch hand, working for Liam. We saw him in book 1, as he had a crush on Vesper.

Amy is Vesper's best friend and works for her as a receptionist at Vet clinic.
Tyler and Amy know each other because of Liam and Vesper. As Amy sees her best friend with the dream job, happy and in love she longs a HEAD too. On the other hand Tyler has been burnt before and has sworn off relationships.

There was a point in the middle where it felt rushed but otherwise it is definitely at least a one time read.

I want you, Amy. I want you and me together every day for the rest of our lives.” He pulls me against his chest, causing my body to feel like it’s been set on fire.

Thank you so much to Booksprout in exchange for an honest review

Amy used to love her job as receptionist at the animal clinic, working with Vesper, her BFF. But with the new clinic being built, Vesper hired a new vet who was a jerk to work with Amy, and she’s training another new vet at the ranch. Her job just isn’t much fun anymore with the grouch she has to work with now. But if she quit, she would be leaving Vesper shorthanded.

As soon as she was done work, Amy drove to her mother’s house to check on her. The trash cans outside were overfilled with vodka bottles, the yard overgrown. Inside, the kitchen is messy with dirty dishes piled all over the sink. The table has newspapers and mail thrown on it. Continuing to call for her mother, she sees the living room also filled with discarded bottles. Finally she finds her passed out on the bed. After checking that she is still breathing, she goes back out to wash the dirty dishes, sweep the floors, and take out all the trash. Nothing more she can so since her mom won’t go into rehab. To relax and get over her horrible situation, she ironically heads to a local bar for a couple of drinks, hoping she can find a guy to spend the weekend with, no strings attached.

Hours later, still thinking about everything and daydreaming about life as a beach bum, Amy laughs out loud as a man sits next to her and asks what’s funny. She recognizes Tyler from the ranch, a guy Vesper dated once. She’s so down that he asks her to dance since she definitely needs some fun right now. She stares at his lips, then kisses him and invites him back to her place.

Waking up with a smile on her face, Amy is disappointed that Tyler is gone. She usually prefers it that way – why is this time different? Does she want something more with him?

In the meantime, Vesper sees the sadness in Amy and they talk about Amy’s dreams. She finally admits to wanting to own a coffee shop/bookstore since neither business exists in town. Vesper suggests she talk to her fiancé, Liam, who owns the ranch and has the money to invest. She might just be able to start her own business. And maybe find a man who loves her as Liam loves Vesper. That would give her the life she is looking for… if only.

Invited to dinner at the ranch, Amy talks to Liam about her coffee shop idea. She just can’t take that much money, but Liam says he will be a silent partner and give her 5 years before she begins to repay him. In return, he asks that she pop in and out of his ranch over the next week, help Tyler with the animals, help the new vet if needed, feed the cat and water the plants. Because he and Vesper are taking her advice and having a special much-needed vacation together. So Amy agrees. What would she do if Tyler came back into her life in a more permanent way, and not just the hookups with no commitment that he’s only willing to offer?

This story was well-written and filled with difficult decisions for most of the characters as changes put everything in an uproar. With her dreams possibly coming true, Amy needs to figure out what she wants to do. Grab your copy and see what possibilities await her.

There is absolutely everything to love about Mrs Winter. This book is the second chance at love as well as the second book in this series (Mountain Ridge). I found myself engrossed throughout this heartbreakingly beautiful storyline centered around Tyler and Amy. If you like your books to have a deep impact in an entirely impressive way, then I encourage you to pick up this unbelievable read and follow along as these two amazingly written characters find out if their time for a HEA is now. Wonderful.

I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Protect Me in exchange for my honest/voluntarily given opinion and I couldn't recommend it more. Mrs Winter only publishes top quality books for all of us romance junkies and I am completely confident that you will adore her writing style and come back for more just like I do.

Oh my! This was such a good story. It will push and pull your emotions. I laughed and cried while reading this. Amy and Tyler are two people who have been hurt by those the love. Amy has a full plate. She works at her best friend’s vet clinic, helps her alcoholic mother and doesn’t feel she is good enough. She has one night stands, but wants to change that. That is when Tyler appears. He is just the guy she sees herself with. He has also been broken by people he loved. These two complete each other and heal the other. They are one half of the whole. What happens when the past comes knocking? Tyler and Amy love each other so completely, that they will crumble without the other. This story has passion, lust, love, hurt and forgiveness. This will pull at the heartstrings, but you don’t want to miss this story.

Disappointed

To be quite honest I'm disappointed. The author builds up this epic love story between Tyler and Amy. I read through about a hundred pages of 'how their love grew, strengthed, evolved into something life altering.' Then all of a sudden Tyler leaves her with just a note on her pillow after having sex all night. Just up and leaves with a shitty minimal excuse. No calls, no communication, nothing for 4 months. It nearly destroyed her. Then....he just shows up at her bff's wedding uninvited after all that time and gives her a 2 minute explanation of his cowardice and selfishness and she takes him back just like that. That's total BS and not even remotely believable. As a woman I'm super vexed that the author made Amy so spineless in the end. She didn't even make him work to earn her trust back...nothing. It sends a message to women that it's okay to be a doormat for a man. I'm soooooooo not okay with that.

I received this book as a gift of an advanced read copy and I would like to give an honest opinion of what I have read.

Wow! This is the second book of this series and I think that it is better than the first book; which is an unusual thing to say. I love all of the characters, and the fact that it does deal with some real issues that some of us can relate to. I read this book in one day because I couldn’t stop reading it. I have to warn you though that you will most definitely need so tissues close by at certain points but it is worth it.

Amy works as the receptionist for her best friend and veterinarian Vesper. In the last book Vesper and Liam hooked up he owns a ranch and she is training a new vet to take over for him there. She is also opening another clinic and supervising with the building and set up of that as well. To say that she is a bit of a control freak is an understatement but she is a very good friend with Amy. When Vesper is not at the clinch that Amy is at there is another vet work his name is Jacob. We don’t get much information about him other than Amy like to call him Dr. McStuffy or Dr. Asshole.
She misses not having her best friend around all of the time. After work she goes a couple of towns over to check on her mom. This is something that she dreads. Her mother is a hopeless alcoholic and has been since Amy can remember. Her older brother Ethan had literally raised her until he turned eighteen then he enlisted in the military and has not been back since. Now Amy tries to keep her mother alive by coming by and paying her bills, and getting her food to eat. However when she arrives there the trash piled up on the curb and it is filled with empty vodka bottles. Going into the house searching for her mother she find her so drunk that she is passed on on the bed and doesn’t even hear Amy come in. There are empty vodka bottles every where, unpaid bills all over the kitchen table and a sink of dirty dishes.

Coming back the next day her mother is up and has candles lite everywhere meaning that the electricity has been cut off once again. When Amy tries to talk to her, her mother just lashes out telling Amy never to come back again. So that is what Amy does.

Amy leaves and instead of going home she goes to her local bar and gets a drink and to sort things and this is when she meet Tyler. Tyler works as a ranch hand for Liam, Vesper’s fiancee They have a one nightstand but this time for Amy things are different. When she wakes up and finds him gone she misses him not being there. She also feels like there are things missing in her life and she is not sure as to what to do about it, but she knows that she is not happy. She talks with Vesper when she gets to work and tells her all that is going on. Her mom, how she feel unhappy, not wanting to rain on Vesper’s parade by Amy really wants to have the kind of happiness that she has. A job that she loves, and a man that loves her just as much as she loves him. She finally tells her that she would like to open a coffee shop/book store in town; but she doesn’t have even a credit card to be able to get a loan. Vesper tells that Liam would help her; and at first Amy doesn’t want to go that route. You know the saying about borrowing money from your friends. She tells her friend not to say anything to Liam, she would do it with a presentation and on her own terms. She has a business degrees from college so she does know what she needs to do to get the ball rolling.

It is not long after this that Vesper and Liam take a weeks vacation and have Amy house sit for them and help Tyler with some of the chores around the ranch. When she gets there she and Tyler get back together once again. But Tyler wants it to be a no strings attached type of deal. Amy however is developing strong feelings for him. Will she be able to not get her heart involved; or will Tyler change his mind and open his heart to her.

What if he does do that will he stick around. Amy has a lot of baggage what with her mother and thinking about a career change. Will she be able to get her mother the help she needs or will she get to her mother’s place and find her dead from all of her drinking? This story is so rich with emotions but I think the most important thing about the book is trying to teach a person to let go of the past. Forgive each other and start to work on a better and brighter future. This book is well worth whatever you need to do to read it. I loved, loved, loved it.

ARC was given to me by author. My review is given voluntarily and all comments and thoughts on this book are mine alone.

I gave a 5+ stars to this book. It was soooooo good!!!
"Protect Me" by Alexis Winter this is book 2 in The Mountain Ridge series.

This book got me right from the start, it was so freaking good! I have to say that it has a very important serious subject, the emotions of it really got to me. I was crying through 50% of the book which to me is a good thing. This is one of the best books I've read lately.
Amy and Tyler were two broken down people, they didn't do serious relationships, only having fun and one night stand hookups. They were 2 peas in a pod, but deep down they both had suffered through a lot of pain and heartbreaks in their lives.
Amy grew up having to deal with her mother's drunkenness. She became the mother versus being the daughter. She is unhappy with her life, she needs a change but feels stuck without any options were to start.
Tyler always wanted to be a rancher, he's wanted to own his own ranch. All that was thrown upside down, when he was betrayed by the last person who he had expected, that could hurt him so much. He just ran away!
I was rooting for Amy and Tylet to make it, be happy together-they made their way into my heart. Their chemistry together was so HOT, steamy goodness. It felt natural the way it was developed.
This book was about relationships, loved Vesper and Liam, maturity, learning to forgive, learning to open your heart again to love, it also had its share of painful emotions- Alcoholism!!!
Just be strong enough to go forth and realize your dreams like Amy did!
Alexis you did a fantastic job with this book, thank you!👏❤
Can't wait for book 3 "Baby Shock"😁

This book brought out some intense emotions lol

Wow. I’m giving this book 5 stars because it was very well written I couldn’t stop reading and it really brought out some intense emotions in me. Even though I HATED what Tyler did and why he did it.
SPOILERS........

I really thought Tyler was jerk in the beginning. He was totally pursuing Vesper in the previous book, yet he tells Amy he only wants sex from her and has no interest in anything more. After they hook up a few times, Amy ends it with him because he tells her he absolutely does not want a relationship because he was hurt before. He sees her out with another guy and changes his mind. The begin a pretty intense love affair. They’re together for months and fall deeply in love. Everything is pretty much perfect. Tyler begs Amy to never break his heart—and she would never. But then after all that—he absolutely destroys her. And I HATED him for it. After a very hot, intense and emotional night together (she totally feels like something is wrong—even though he’s pledging his love for her)- the next morning he’s gone. Leaving her a goodbye note that he’s going back home to take over his father’s ranch that he’s always wanted. He even tells her he hopes she finds the “right” guy. I mean WTF?!?! She was utterly devastated. My heart shattered for her. I so wanted her to find an amazing guy and never think of Tyler again.

Anyway 3 months later he shows back up and begs her to take him back and offers her everything she’s always wanted. She made him grovel for a little bit but it wasn’t nearly enough. At least she got her happy ending. I will also tell you.. the next book in this series Baby Shock is absolutely fantastic!!!

Totally Gripping!
A heartbreakingly beautiful story that's so touching and powerful, I couldn't put it down.
Amy and Tyler's story burrowed deep into my heart. You'd think that two people this broken would stay away, but instead not only did they gravitate towards each other, but they also brought out each other’s strengths.
Her life seems so unfulfilled. Amy realized that she enjoyed going to work mainly because she got to spend the day with her best friend Vesper. Working as a receptionist wasn't what she had envisioned herself doing after college. I’m glad she finally got the chance to live her dream. Her coffee and bookstore is the trend.
I hated that Tyler left Amy a dear John letter, but he too had some loose ends to tie up. He had to make amends with his family and going back home was the second-best thing that could have happened to him. His decision to let go of the family ranch was heart-wrenching I’m sure, but it was clear that he had to do so in order to move forward with his life.
Amy and Tyler knew where they stood with each other and didn’t jump in with both feet. Amazing read. Love the plotline, character development, and HEA. A definite recommend. Looking forward to her next book.
My most memorable quote….
“…after seeing my mom, this is a place I really should avoid. But I’m not a raging alcoholic; I’m just a normal drinker. I drink to have fun…” I remember thinking “I hope this isn't the beginning of the end for Amy". What if she ends up in the same boat as her mother? It’s been known to happen.

That cover is a PERFECT Tyler b/c he’s just as HOT in the story as this pic
That cover makes me think about chapter 13 in a scene when Amy and Tyler have a hard time letting one another go, he’s just standing there…WOW, I’m fanning myself!
Amy is waiting to figure out what she wants to do b/c her job as her BFF’s receptionist isn’t it. That she knows! She is also responsible for taking care of her alcoholic mother while her brother Ethan is in the military. I love the fact that we continue looking over her shoulder at her BFF, Vesper, who we met in JUST FRIENDS. Amy meets Tyler when she promises to help Vesper and Liam at the ranch while they are away. Tyler is Liam’s ranch hand, HOT as he!! and a no-relationship-kind-of-guy. Since Amy has always been a self-professed “party girl,” that’s OK with her until they have a sleep-over. FIREWORKS! Now Amy has to make a decision: does she let things remain as they are, just fun or does she go for something more with Tyler? When she makes that decision, we get…nope, get the book to find out more.
Well-written, HOT story between Amy and Tyler with some angst of course! There are some yummy scenes like in the kitchen up against the refrigerator, up against a tree, in the shower (together) or up against the door in the house, in the barn…you get the picture. I volunteered to review an Advance Reader Copy of this book through Booksprout and it comes highly recommended if you like smoking hot hanky-panky between consenting yummy adults with tearful moments before they get their HEA. Anyone else looking forward to Ethan’s story?

Protect Me
by Alexis Winter
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Good read! Amy Brighton is the receptionist at her best friend Vesper's animal clinic. Amy is a bright woman who is feeling lost now that her best friend is getting married and not is involved in starting up another clinic. Not to mention, her mother is in constant need to be taken care of, and her brother, Ethan, is away in the military. As she tries to get out of her own head and relax at the local bar, she runs into Tyler, the ranch hand at the O'Connor ranch. Things between the two take off rather slowly, much more slowly than Amy would like. But, things do progress...until Tyler is gone! She knew something was up, but didn't expect his up and leaving after professing his undying love! How can Amy go on? What happened to take him away so suddenly? Will Amy have the strength to open her dream coffee shop now? I really feel for Amy, she puts her all into everything she does, always. Tyler, on the other hand seemed spectacular in his own right, until this. Their love and future seemed so promising. I truly enjoyed this latest from Ms. Winter and look forward to many more.
I voluntarily read this Advance Readers Copy for an honest review.

ONE INCREDIBLY SATISFYING READ!!!
Oh man, talk about keeping your entire focus! Alexis totally nailed this bad boy. So much sincerity and a love soul deep really keeps you riveted from start to finish. A rollercoaster ride with a plethora of emotions and events that will rock you to your core. Alexis didn't pull any punches, no holds barred and take no prisoners attitude totally brought little jewel roaring to life brilliantly. All the drama, uncertainty, fear, heartache, abandonment, angst and a little suspense make for one incredible experience. This is one hard hitting, fast paced, heart pounding, pulse racing, smooth flowing, page turning delight that really make you stand up and take notice. The chemistry between the two main characters was white hot, off the charts explosive. The characters are complex and believable with such depth and individuality it's easy to relate. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive you have no trouble picturing each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. Alexis did an amazing job bringing together beautifully. Fantastic job Alexis, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

Protect Me follows the book Just Friends by Alexis Winter. This is the story of Amy, a woman who has a full plate, with her job at the veterinarian office and caring for her alcoholic mother. She dreams of starting her own business and being in a relationship with a man who loves her. She is unsure how to accomplish these dreams, yet she knows that she is unhappy with her life as it is. It is also the story of Tyler, a ranch hand who has his own dreams of the ranch that was denied him and who closes off his heart because of a deep betrayal.
This is a wonderfully written novel filled with emotion: a daughter's guilt concerning her mother's drinking, her insecurities over her self-worth, and her craving to be loved; and a man who must learn to embrace life and find his own happiness. This author tackles each of these issues while drawing the reader deeper into the characters.
This is a stand-alone novel with a HEA ending.

This is a cute story of two people who go through so much apart and together. Amy is a caring, sweet, selfless woman who wants to start her own coffee/bookstore shop. Amy takes care of her drunken mom and dreams of having what her best friend has, true love. Amy takes us for a ride through her search for happiness and making her dreams come true. Tyler is a broken lost man who yearns for his fathers ranch. I loved seeing Tyler grow and learn to fight for what he wanted, instead of running away. This is a cute story of love, fighting for what you want, the struggles of life, overcoming obstacles, facing your fear and loving whole heartedly. It's about making dreams come true and becoming the person you want to be, and also fighting for the one you love. It's about growing up and setting roots. It's about finding the courage to fight for what you really want once you find it. There are several issues that will bring you to tear and other that will have you screaming for joy. It's a great book to read. I received this ARC and loved it.

Two siblings made to care for their alcoholic mother. Her brother then abandons her.

Amy's life hasn't been easy.  Her mother used alcohol to escape life.  Her brother
Ethan leaves and joins the military as soon as he can to find his own escape from his mother.
Amy carried on with life.  Put herself through school and checks on her mother to see if she hasn't drank herself to death.
She works as an assistant to her best friend who has started her own veterinary office.
Things start changing for Amy after she meets Tyler at a bar and the typical hookup happens.
This book is a great story of hardship, perseverance, life changing events, heartbreak and making your choices to change things and read what life brings you.
Great book to read and is a favorite of mine.  Will be reading Just Friends which is the first book of the story line.  Protect Me is stand alone.  You've got to get this one to read.  You can't help but love it.

Tyler and Amy are two lost and broken people who find each other when they are at crossroads in their lives. A drunken hookup, then living temporarily in close proximity have them both looking at the other in a different light. Tyler is content to be a player, no serious relationships needed or wanted. Amy has been like Tyler in the past, but now she is looking for love and commitment.....and a new direction in life. Can they find a compromise, hold onto hope and work toward a future together? This story takes you on their emotional journey. It’s a journey filled with personal growth, betrayal, heartbreak, and seeking forgiveness. So many emotions come into play as this story unfolds with its vivid characters and inspiring plot line. I just couldn’t tear myself away from this book until it was finished.

Should have been two books

I loved the first 3/4 of the book, but felt the ending was rushed. I wanted to like Amy, but the end made it impossible to. SPOILER ALERT: The book is great until the climax (first 3/4) then everything is resolved in the last couple chapters and epilogue. I really think the resolution would have been great as a book of its own, a true enemies to lovers novel, but it was crammed into a short space. There is so much potential there to write about Amy's denied drinking problem, forgiveness of Tyler, coffee shop, etc. It was hard to like her as it was, but the ending definitely made me hate her. Tyler was great though. I honestly hope the authors go back and extend the ending of this book into a whole other novel, even maybe a novella. I wish they would have ended this book at Tyler's return at the wedding, instead of resolving the problem in less than 10% of the story.

Omg! I loved hearing the story about Amy and Tyler. We got a glimpse of the fact they could possibly get together in Just Friends, however, reading how they actually find each other is wonderful. Amy has so many things go wrong in her life and is feeling unfulfilled. Tyler is dealing with a major heartbreak and betrayal and doesn’t want to risk his heart again. Their connection is so needed. They fill and complete one another. Breaking down each other’s walls is a constant in this because neither wants the pain of losing the other, but they can’t be without the other half of their soul. There’s some surprising twists at the end I know were coming but we’re still heartbreaking and made me cry and be upset for Amy. They get their happy ending and it’s beautiful.

I absolutely love Protect Me!

Amy's life was a living hell, always putting other peoples needs before her own and taking care of an alcoholic mother, Amy was broken as broken can be, then Tyler came into her life, swept her off her feat and rescued her from a life of hell. Then he walked away and shattered her heart.

Now he's back and wants a second chance and Amy isn't sure if she could trust him again after he shattered her. The chemistry between the two of them is hot and steamy! I love this story, what an amazing plot there is. Your heart will ache for the two of them, the complexity of the characters and the story line will draw you in and you won't want to put it down! A definite must read!

“Protecting Me” is a riveting, sweet, steamy romance. The beginning was a little slow but the story soon picked up and kept me engaged throughout the book. Amy has had a difficult life and is lonely and unhappy with her dead end job. She wants to open her own bookstore/coffee shop so her best friend Vesper offers to help her. While Amy is house sitting for Vesper she meets Tyler who sweeps her off her feet. Unfortunately Tyler is not looking for a relationship but Amy is. How their love affair progresses is a dramatic, romantic and steamy story. Alexis can always be counted on for a captivating story.

This is a well written story the characters have so much depth that by the end of the book they feel like old friends You feel the heartbreak from both the characters as they grow and mature and learn to fight for what they really want

Amy has a hard life she works as a veterinary nurse and is the single carer for her alcoholic mum as her brother is away with the military she feels as though she is just marking time Tyler is a local ranch hand but there is more to his story he was denied the ranch he always loved by a betrayal When they meet there is an instant spark but as his past come back to haunt them he will need to make decisions that could destroy them Will they have a chance at a HEA

Loved this book! Although it is a stand-alone, the main characters from “Liam”, Vesper and Liam, are a large part of this book, but they are never properly introduced. I believe these and future books need to either be a series or more background given on prior characters if these are to be stand-alone books. That being said, the story lines are well written and character development is sound. There is a whole lot of sorrow and angst, but love prevails. This book is also full of steamy scenes! There was an unexpected twist toward the end that really shook everyone, but in the end everyone survived and thrived. Looking forward to reading Ethan’s story!

This book contains steamy sex scenes and is for 18+ readers.
I loved this book. Not everyone will, as it deals with alcoholism at it's worst. I felt the portrayal, including rehab and the aftermath, was done with compassion as well as accuracy.
This story is an emotional rollercoaster in the best way. Not only Amy & Tyler's story, but Vesper & Liam's too. (Be sure to read their book). I ached for Amy as she struggled to find her happy place. For Tyler as his walls broke down, laying him bare. All the characters, major & minor , learn that with love, perseverance, and a whole lot of forgiveness, HEA is assured & deserved.
You will love this book.

An amazing wonderfully written romance. It is an emotional rollercoaster that had me addicted and on the edge of my seat from page one as two emotional broken people fumble thru and eventually find a HEA as they face challenges life has thrown at them. This sweet sizzling hot heartbreaking story has lust, passion, forgiveness, love, angst, both have family drama, guilt, insecurities, uncertainty, fear, amazing chemistry and a little suspense making for one incredible storyline. The issues are addressed as you get drawn into the story further and further with these complex and relatable characters. A great definetly must have second chance romance.
