☆ ☆ ☆☆ 4 Sawyer Says Sweet Stars ☆ ☆ ☆☆

SawyerSays

Sawyers Says was absolutely sweet and adorable!!!! It was my feel good HEA book. I have always been a big fan of friends becoming lovers and Sawyer Says was a prime example of two friends falling and finding love.

Sawyer Sterling doesn't do relationships.. Sawyer says...casual flings are the only way to go and falling in love is for anyone, but her. Sawyer struggles with letting people in since she doesn't want to deal with anymore heartache and disappointments. She keeps people who loves her at an arm length. But when her roommate and childhood friend, Jared Keller and her had casual sex for the first time, lines are crossed. Are they friends with benefits? When Jared begins to express his love for Sawyer, she finds it hard to accept. She loves him but can she fully love and let him in. What will Sawyer Say when the man who loves her is asking her to love him in back?

I am totally smitten with Jared Keller. He knew how to handle Sawyer and her fears and insecurities. Loved that he was patient with her and will do anything to make her happy. As for their chemistry, it was HOT and SEXY!! What I especially love about Sawyer Says was that Sawyer was able to learn about her past. I loved how she was able to rediscover and see that she was indeed LOVED and is capable of loving.

So if you are looking for a fun and sweet story with HEA that will leave you with a BIG FAT SMILE on your face, then I highly suggest Sawyers Says.

4 Sweet-Patient-Loving Stars!
ARC provided in exchange for an honest review

I completely adore this book! As a fan of friends-turned-lovers stories, Sawyer Says, is one that left me smiling and swooning until the end and even just thinking about it, I keep remembering how Jared made me feel and the smile is back on my face.

For someone who says she doesn’t do relationships and that falling in love is for everyone but her, she sure did find someone who is perfect for her in every which way! Sawyer and Jared knew each other since they were kids and spent every summer since then and now that they are now roommates, everything is changing directions. Attraction and feelings for each other started surfacing and when Sawyer propositioned Jared that one morning, their friendship turned into something much more.

This is not insta-love and not a dragging love story, what this is a sweet, delightful story with an easy buildup of being friends into a not-so-official lovers into an official couple.

Sawyer has issues with trust, abandonment, and even love, from her childhood. She guards her emotions and doesn’t let anyone in except maybe for her best friend, Sarah. She is an independent girl who knows what she wants and is not afraid to speak her mind.

Jared is not without any heartbreak in the past but I am absolutely in love with him! I said he was perfect for Sawyer and he really is. He was patient, he knows when to push forward and pull back (and I don’t mean in the sexual way, although there’s that too), and he is 100% capable of handling Sawyers emotions. He is sweet, and loving, and affectionate, and I can go on and on but I’ll stop since I’m swooning like a fangirl.

The way they both dealt with their emotional baggages from the past together is such a delight and a touching experience at the same time. Carey Heywood showed us through Jared and Sawyer how friends to lovers can flourish no matter what their past is, as long as they truly love each other and communicate openly.

Stars: 4 stars!
Recommended to: Everyone looking for a sweet treat!
POV: First person. Dual POV.
Series: No.
Cliffhanger: No.
EXTRA COMMENT: I love the alternating POV! Those ½ chapters are my favorites.

A very fine story of friends to lovers dealing with some bittersweet issues that adds a whole lot of sweet and tender lovin’ that balances it out. One little rebel with pink hair makes a journey to find herself in a past that has been lost to her – with the help of a hot snowboarder with a heart of gold.

When the lines of friendship are crossed and one party wants more than the other is willing to give, will this be the end of a beautiful friendship? Jared Keller and Sawyer Sterling are both strongly drawn characters who have been friends for most of their life. Their story is equal parts of emotional turmoil, sizzling sexual encounters, and moments filled with ear-to-ear smiles.

Carey Heywood’s latest release will leave readers with warm and fuzzy feelings!

Note: It's a steal at 99-cents on Amazon.

Sawyer Sterling was orphaned as a child, brushed aside by her only remaining grandparent, and essentially raised in boarding school with the exception of the summers she spent with Jared Keller and his mom. Now adults, Sawyer and Jared have become roommates after hers moved away to get married, and Jared went through an emotional divorce.

Although friendship is all Sawyer claims to want, at her roommate’s wedding she hooks up with Jared. And who can blame her? Holy cow, Jared is hot, sweet, and extremely patient and understanding. As in if you look up ‘patience’ and ‘understanding’ in the dictionary you’ll find this boy’s picture there. He’s the gem of the book. Having grown up with her he knows what Sawyer needs and when she needs it. And he’s exactly what Sawyer needs because she has a few issues she has to work through.

As a result, Sawyer is a bit cold at times and totally pessimistic. Yes, I understand she’s been dealt some blows in life that caused her to put up walls and have some feelings of insecurity; but sometimes she makes some uncool moves that she seems to feel is okay or justified but hurt Jared and others who care about her. So there were places were I almost agreed that she wasn’t good enough for Jared. Again the guy is just swoon-worthy.

The story is just as much romance as it is a story of self discovery. Though told via Sawyer and Jared’s alternating first person point of views, it’s largely about Sawyer’s journey—to accept the past, uncover some family secrets, and move on so that she can learn to love and be loved. There’s a touch of mystery in regards to her grandmother which kept the story engaging, and plenty of sexy encounters with Jared which amplified the heat factor. And though they start hitting it right from the beginning, there is no insta-lust or insta-love here as their friendship is still core to their relationship.

Sawyer Says is a spin-off novel from Him and Her (Sawyer's previous roommate Sarah and her husband Will's story) that can easily be read as a stand-alone as Sarah and Will just make minor appearances in this one.

"... That every moment I wasn't telling her I loved her, I was betraying her."
Oh, how I love Carey!!!! I fell in love with all of her characters the second I met them on the first book in this series, Her, and my love for them has only duplicated every time I read another part of their journey. I've been dying to read more into Sawyer and Jared's relationship ever since Her and this book blew me away. It gave me everything I wanted out of it, and more.
This story is told mainly by Sawyer, but there are 1/2 chapters in between that are told in Jared's POV. I honestly loved the structure of this story. It was unique.
Sawyer's personality was radiant. Knowing how she grew up was saddening but it made me respect her even more as a character for turning out so amazingly. Family secrets were uncovered and my heart went out to her multiple times. She's an independent woman who's afraid to love due to her past and her character development was amazing.
Jared was phenomenal. His lines were P.E.R.F.E.C.T.I.O.N.!! Every line I highlighted came from him and I have no shame in admitting it. I felt like I didn't get enough of him (I never will) but that's just me being demanding. He was the complete package. Patient, passionate, honest, caring, and everything in between. His past shattered me to pieces. Whenever he hurt, I hurt in return. His tears were blades to my heart and I didn't know how much I could take.
After reading from his POV, I don't know who I love more. Will (from Him and Her) or Jared... I won't choose. They are both incredibly well thought out male characters and I have Carey to thank for that.
I loved how both Sawyer and Jared did things on their own instead of solely depending on the other. Their relationship was healthy and honest and it brought tears to my eyes. The steamy scenes were incredible and the ending was as sweet and unforgettable as they come. I miss all of these characters so much already... If it were up to me, I would follow these characters until the end of time.
I also have to say that I was deeply touched by a particular quote in this book. When it was revealed, I felt like I was punched in the gut. How five words can make someone rethink their entire lives is beyond me, but Carey managed to do so effortlessly. It's rare when a quote tears me out of a fictional world and into my own reality but this did it:
"Be unselfish with your love."

Let me start off by saying I am a huge Carey Heywood fan. Every single one of her books makes me warm and fuzzy. There is something about them that connects with all of my raw emotions. They will make you cry and then laugh within a few pages. They are real life romances that I just love. Nothing so unfalsifiable that you can't imagine happening in real life.

Sayer Says, is Sawyer's getting her very own story!!! Finally!! Sawyer is one of the secondary characters from Him and Her (which I loved as well). Sawyer is a free spirit who is one of the coldest book characters I have ever read. She says what is on her mind, she is loyal and at the same time fierce. Pink hair and wise cracking... and I love every second of her!

Sawyer and Jared have been close friends since they was young. After her parents were killed in an accident she went to spend her summer with Jared and his mom. Now as adults, they throw caution to the wind and end up sleeping together. Sawyer is not one for relationship or love, so she wants to keep things casual.

Jared has to be one of the most loving and patient men in the world. He never wanted to be casual with Sawyer. All along her has been in love with her. Whether he knew it or not, it has always been Sawyer for him. He is doing off a bad relationship and is hurting.

But Sawyer is a lost soul at this point in her life. Her only living relative, her grandmother, has passed away. Even though Sawyer was never close to her, she now feels all alone in the world. This leaves Sawyer questioning a lot. Like why her grandmother never loved her or wanted her. It leads Sawyer on a journey to piece together missing bits and pieces in her life. While doing so she, uncovers more than she ever expected to find.

The self discovery Sawyer makes in emotional and unexpectedly amazing. Sawyer never knew what she was going to discover. It makes her look into her past, to help her find out she is so she can have a better future.

The love story between Sawyer and Jared is so touching. Jared is exactly what Sawyer needs to help her get through everything she uncovers but at the same time... he makes her want to be whole. Although Sawyer will never been who society wants her to be, she will mend her heart to allow Jared in.

I think I'm in love with Jared! Oh my what an absolute all rounder of a man! This is one book I felt more anxiety for the male lead than I did the female. It was Jared in this book that could reduce me to a blubbering mess and as much as I loved Sawyer I'm afraid Jared had my focus more.

Although Sawyer puts him through the wringer and totally tests his patience I could not at all dislike her in any sense. I really like her character. I enjoyed watching her progress through how she 'thought' she should be (and really she only thought that because of her Grandmother). To how she knew she was beginning change and settle to relationships and started beginning to miss Jared and was comfortable sleeping in the same bed with him. But even so she still tries to keep him at arms length.

To sum up Sawyer Says for me, I would say I found this a light and quick read. Very hot and Jared and Sawyer have great chemistry. I really enjoyed both characters but I have to say Jared is my true love in this book, oh what a great, charming, thoughtful, kind, gorgeous hunk of a man he is. I wanted Sawyer to stop procrastinating so much and just go with the flow and see where life took her sometimes but on the other hand I totally got her scepticism. A quite emotional read that in truth could have been a little meatier but nonetheless a very enjoyable book to spend an afternoon and evening wrapped up in.

I received a copy of Sawyer Says in return for an honest review. My reviews are my own and are 100% honest.

I had the opportunity to read this new novel from Carey and I don't regret nothing. it was amazing! i loved Jared because he was so patient with Sawyer and her insecurities. And for a hot sexy delicious sweet guy to be patient these days.... Sawyer was funny and impulsive and I loved that she was a rebel . That moment at the wedding when she finally said what she wanted was my fave! if Sawyer says,Sawyer gets.

I got to meet Sawyer! She is an amazing and strong woman. With this book Carey Heywood learned me that you have to keep believe in yourself but also let other people in. And when Sawyer finally makes the decision, she shows that if you dare to jump, it's worth it! I don't cry easy in books but when Carmen let's Sawyer go I had to blink some away. This book is an amazing part of the him & her series! Sawyer has become one of my favorite book characters! ❤️

This is probably one of the most beautiful and moving books I have read this year. I was so overwhelmed by this book; it took my breath away. Carey Heywood needs to be commended on this book. It is such an amazing story of love: learning to love, learning to be loved, holding on to love and letting go of love. It was powerful and touching and I know I will be re-reading it again.

Loving is hard when all you know is that you have been left behind more times that you can count. Sawyer doesn’t think she can be loved. She doesn’t do relationships, she certainally doesn’t do the whole “making love” thing and when things get uncomfortable, she runs. This is who she is, this is what she knows.

Losing her parents at a very young age, her life would change forever. Faced with an even bigger reality, her grandmother doesn’t want her and ships her off as quickly as she can to her Godmother, where she will spend her summer. But that is the last time she sees her grandmother. She never returns to that house. It was hard for her to even be there. She was only ten when her world shifted off it’s axis. Nothing would ever be the same. She lost the only people that loved her when she lost her parents.

The silver lining… had none of those events occurred, she would have never met Jared. That boy on the boat who became her friend. Her constant through it all. He was her everything and now that her best friend is married, Jared is also her roommate. They share a condo but after the wedding, they begin to share a lot more than just room and board.

Of course there is a downside to their perfect friendship, they are so physically attracted to one another but he knows he can’t push her for anything because he knows she will run. She knows that she can never been good enough for him and would rather continue on with her sex is just for fun routine than take a chance and losing him forever. But it is there. And just a few simple words whispered during a wedding reception and all bets are off. That is the beginning of the end of the world as Sawyer knows it.

But this book is so much more than just a relationship between a guy and a girl. It is an entire process of learning to accept the past, staying in the present and looking forward to the future. When Sawyer gets the call that her grandmother dies, she knows she has to help settle the estate. But the things she discovers while cleaning the house only lead to more questions. But there is no one left to ask. Unless you start looking to the people that were there before and after Sawyer said goodbye to her parents.

In the blink of an eye and the turn of a page, everything Sawyer thought about her life is different. Suddenly the story needs to be re-written. Suddenly there is a story behind everything that Sawyer grew up believing. What would you do if everything you have believed about your life, about your family about who you are and what you are capable of is suddenly not that way?

This book moved me to tears over and over again. But by the end I was bawling like a baby. Please don’t misunderstand, they were not tears of sorrow or even tears of joy. They were tears of pride and such a gentle reminder of how much of our own lives we take for granted. This book just sparked something in my heart that I know I will not be able to let go of.

Jarred was a no brainer. How could you not love a guy who only wants you to be happy? Throw in his extreme hotness factor and that seals the deal. But what I loved about him was that even though he didn’t always know if his decisions were the right ones, he always did what his heart told him to do. Good or bad, win or lose, he always followed his heart and that made his character not only hot, but a bit sappy too.

Sawyer just tugged at the heart strings all the way through the book. She wasn’t broken, but she grew up believing so many things were one way that her entire life shifted when she found out the truth. She had so much strenght and courage that she could get through so much. But she never needed to do it alone. She always felt obligated to do it alone. Taking care of people is what she does but being on the receiving end of that is a much bigger pill to swollow.

Carey Heywood has written one of the most beautiful books I have read and even though I cried a lot in the book, each tear was worth it and a gentle reminder of the power of love. How it can change your life. Sawyer’s journey to the end of the book was just inspiring and touching. It really moved me to watch her character grow and accept who she was then and who she is now.

I am looking forward to reading this book over and over again, as I know I will be. Five fabulous stars for Carey Heywood’s Sawyer Says.

Review originally posted at Ramblings From This Chick

Sawyer Says by Carey Heywood was such a sweet and cute read. I really enjoyed it, and this was one that I finished super quickly. I got sucked in right from the start and just didn't want to put it down. I found this read to be light and fun, even though Sawyer had been through so much. I just loved watching Sawyer and Jared fall for each other, and this is definitely one of those friends to lovers books that you won't want to miss.

Sawyer doesn't do relationships. She hooks up with guys until she no longer has fun anymore or meets someone that she likes better. She lost her parents at a young age, and was taken by her grandmother. But her grandmother didn't keep her and sent her away immediately. She has struggled with letting people in ever since. When Sawyer's grandmother sent her to live with her godmother Wendy, Sawyer became friends with her son Jared. Jared and Sawyer have been friends ever since, but Jared has also been in love with Sawyer. When they attend their friend's wedding, things between them start to feel different and they end up having sex. Sawyer and Jared know that things are changing between them, and Sawyer is determined to just stay friends but with some new benefits. However Jared wants more from her, and decides to pursue her while doing things in a way that won't push Sawyer away. He knows that she will run if he pushes too hard, so he decides to take his time and give her the space she needs. While Sawyer searches for answers about her grandmother after being notified of her death, Jared sets out to show Sawyer that they belong together.

I absolutely adored Jared. He is pretty much the most perfect book boyfriend ever. He is so sweet and kind, and so much more patient than just about anyone I have ever met. He was thoughtful and supportive, not to mention super gorgeous and talented in bed. I loved that he was so great with Sawyer, and he was so good at giving her exactly what she needed. Especially when even Sawyer didn't know what she herself needed. Sawyer had been through so much, and because of that she had some issues. She didn't think that she would ever get married or have children, and she didn't really seem to believe that she deserved to have those things. But with Jared, she was finally able to see that he was good for her and that they could have more. These two had such a great foundation and friendship, and the great sex just added to the connection they shared. I thought that they had amazing chemistry and they had a bond from all of their years of friendship. These two were perfect for each other, and I loved watching as Sawyer figured her feelings out.

Overall, this book was really good. I thought that Sawyer and Jared were great characters and a wonderful couple. But I also enjoyed the secondary characters as well. This book was just one of those light-hearted feel good reads, and I had a great time reading it. I really loved that it was dual POV, and we got to see things from both Jared and Sawyer. I think it really allowed the reader to connect with these two, and I was invested in them right from the beginning. I highly recommend this book to all New Adult fans, but also to those looking for a sweet romance read about friends to lovers. It was so great to see Sawyer's journey from being only into casual hook-ups to finding love and taking the chance on a relationship. I look forward to reading more from Carey Heywood in the future.

Sawyer is just a child when she loses her parents to a plane crash and is sent to live with her grandmother. Within forty-eight hours of arriving at her grandmother’s home, she finds herself traveling across the country to live with a stranger for the summer, her godmother whom she has never met. That summer, and every summer after that is spent with her godmother Wendy, and her son Jared. When the summer is over, she is sent to a boarding school in Vancouver, B.C. where the headmistress, Carmen, cares for her. When Sawyer receives word that her grandmother has passed away and that she must take care of the estate, she finds that her past is full of mystery, and that what she had perceived as the truth for her entire life, may have been far from it. Sawyer never understood why her grandmother sent her away to live, could it have been out of the most unselfish love one could give? In order to move on with her future, Sawyer must find answers to the questions that have been plaguing her her entire life.

Jared has known Sawyer since they were both kids. Not only are they the best of friends, but after Sawyer’s roommate Sarah moves out in preparation of getting married, Jared moves in and becomes her roommate. Unlike Sarah, Jared is looking for a relationship. Once he falls in love, he’s in it for the long haul. After the loss of the baby that his wife was carrying, he finds himself divorced and conflicted over his feelings for Sawyer. He knows that they would be good for each other, but can Sawyer get past her desire for simply “friends with benefits” status with the opposite sex and pursue and actual relationship? When Jared and Sawyer take their relationship to a physical level, can they see eye to eye on where they want the relationship to lead, or will that be their undoing?

I absolutely loved Jared. He’s really the embodiment of the book boyfriend. Sweet, yet not afraid to pursue what he wants, willing to make sacrifices, hot, snowboard instructor, childhood friend…he has all the makings of a BBF poster boy. Sawyer has quite obviously, and justly, been damaged by the circumstances of her upbringing; however at times it feels like maybe she just not willing to move forward. She makes a definite progression throughout the book and it is quite obviously due to her relationship with Jared. He is the one that really made this book interesting.

Sawyer Says is a well written, engaging, quick read. It is a companion novel to the Her and Him books, however it can be read as a standalone. While it is not necessary to have read the other books before this one, it might make the relationships with secondary characters a little clearer than if you hadn’t. While Sawyer Says was a very good book with well-developed characters whose relationship was sweet with just the right amount of steam, it didn’t knock my socks off. I enjoyed the book, however there really wasn’t anything to set it apart from other NA reads of the same type. This is the first book that I have read by Carey Heywood and it certainly won’t be my last, and I will definitely read Her and Him to find out more about the characters.

Sawyer Says

My rating = 5+ stars & 1 crown for Carey Heywood.
This is a stand-alone, with a HEA.

I just absolutely loved this book. Everything about it; the characters, the plot, the story, the good, bad, and the ugly. The way it all came together was perfect. There were some points that I was like WTH, but as I kept reading, I realized that Carey had it under control; she knew exactly what the hell she was doing. I’m not sure if I ever read a bad book by Carey Heywood.

As always I never tell the long lengthy story of what the book is about, that’s why the author takes her time to provide you with the blurb.

But I will tell you my feelings and point of view of the book.
From page one I was drawn in, possessed, devoted until the very last page. I absolutely loved this book.
It will be in my top 10 for 2014.

Sawyer and Jared were a-frickin-mazing together. Omg- I just loved them. The sex scenes were perfect and hot, the man knew what he was doing. But that’s also what made them so great together, with the feelings they had for eachother, it only made the sex that much better. LoL
I just hate that it took Sawyer a little longer to figure that out. Although, Jared being the wonderful, patient, H-O-T, thoughtful, caring man that he is knew exactly what he wanted.
And, there is nothing hotter than a man knowing what he wants and going for it. Sawyer was one strong girl, went through more than any child her age ever should have. But the way that Carey tied it all together was amazing.
One of the major reasons I think I loved this book so much was because it didn’t have all that damn loving one and accidently screwing another, cheating crap. Although that is ok in a lot of books, this one just didn’t need it, there was enough heart aches, without having that in it. I was a little worried when she went to her old town and met up with Beau again, but was so giddy happy when NOTHING happen are even came close. Sawyer was such a loving person, just needed a little help in knowing how to show it. And after getting all her answers, it showed.

Jared was a goddess. He was what every woman would love to have, from beginning to end. He was always one step ahead of Sawyer, and I just thought that was great. Although I do have an awesome husband myself, he just needs a little push sometimes in the romantic category.
He tries, he really does, but it’s hard for him sometimes to just come up with things, when all his life, he was never shown love. But I am blessed to have a man that resembles Jared in many ways :]

The ending was awesome, no cliffhanger (thank you so much for that).

I can almost picture the scene as I am reading it. That is what is so awesome about this book, when you feel like you are in it, I totally bonded with these characters.

Thank you so much Carey Heywood for another wonderful book; you never seem to amaze your readers.

I gave this book 5 Stars.

Carey is one of the Authors that is my go to Author, when I feel down and need to read a GOOD book, I open one of her books and it makes me feel better. I will one click Carey without a doubt every time she has a new book! She is as sweet as she is a talented! If this tells you anything I own all her books in PB as well. You can't go wrong with her. And especially with this book. Yes she has done it again.

Sawyer is from the Series HIM, she is the best friend. This is a stand alone so you will be able to read it without worrying if you're missing something. But I will say that if you have not read the Series that you should, you will fall in love.

Sawyer is feisty and mouthy but on the inside she just need someone to show her love is real! Jared is that man.
Sawyer is a bad a$$ on the outside, you learn this in HIM. She says what she feels and she doesn't lie, sometimes it comes out a little brass and sometimes she gets in trouble with the things that she just blurts out. She is this way for a reason, when she was young her parents died in a car crash and she was taken in by a grandmother that didn't want her, only to turn around and give her away. Sawyer feels abandoned and alone, and when you feel that your defenses are up and you don't let anyone in. That is why she is the way she is, but there is an exception to everything and well Jared is that for her. He is her oldest friend, and when her room mate and best friend moves out to get married, she lets Jared move in, not realizing that she has feelings for him.
Jared is smart, he is sweet and loving and is attracted to Sawyer for longer then he can remember, he has known her almost his whole life. But he knows to tread carefully with her, otherwise she will run.
Being in love with Sawyer has its challenges, more than most, but if anyone can handle them it's Jared. He loves Sawyer unconditionally and is always there and always will be. He is patient with her and gives her the space she needs to think that she is in control.

This is a sweet, adorable, loving book and is on the top of my list for 2014. I needed to read this. I have been in a funk and was thinking that I was never going to get out of it. I have read book after book and although they have been good books, there was still something that kept my mind spinning and wanting to go on to the next book on my list. I got so into this book that I thought about nothing else. Thank you Carey for an amazing read! I cannot wait to read your next story!!! <3

I always have a soft spot for girls with a self preservation reflex. I totally get the need to protect your heart especially when you've been hurt before.
 photo sawyer6_zps2c564485.jpeg

I loved sexy snowboarding instructor Jared. He's been in love with Sawyer since they were kids but has witnessed to her constantly running away from relationships. He wants things between them to last and doesn't want too hard and risk losing her. A lesson he had to benefit of learning over the years as her friend.

"These years wasted have really been an internship into all the pieces that make up Sawyer Sterling." - Jared

I loved that he gave her space but never stopped making her feel loved. This instead pulled Sawyer closer to him instead of causing her to want to run away. It really was a brilliant move on his part.

 photo sawyer4_zps353c50d9.jpeg

I also really cared about Sawyer. I thought this story was really well written and my heart broke for her when she finally put together all of the pieces. It just goes to show that we should never assume and to always keep your heart open.

I really wish that I had followed the books prior to this, I think I would have connected a little better to the characters. There were strong relationships with people from other books that I would have loved to understand more about. Yes, this can be read a standalone, but I think it would be best to read the prior books first. Especially Sarah & Will's book. I do plan to go back and read them all. This was another great example of connecting with secondary characters just as much as the main characters.

Sawyer Says is a feel good story about friends who turn lovers, but it’s also so much more. Sawyer Sterling chooses to live her life with no attachments because she has both trust and abandonment issues due to her past. Jared Keller has been Sawyer’s best friend since they were young, but despite his feelings for her, he never thought he had a chance with her until one day changes everything. But can a girl who has never had a relationship with strings give herself to the man who is probably her perfect match, or will unanswered questions from her past send her running?

What I loved most about Sawyer’s story is that her relationship with Jared is what makes her seek answers about a woman who is her blood but never acted like it. Sawyer has spent her whole life feeling like the one person who was supposed to love her after all of the tragedy she experienced never truly did. But what she finds out on her journey is that the truth can never be taken at face value because it’s not always black and white; the grey area is what can truly shed light on the reality of things – it can set you free from a past that has held you in chains and give you a future that you never thought you wanted.

Jared Keller – he’s an amazing book boyfriend. His past hasn’t been easy either, but he’s able to put his baggage aside and give the woman that he loves the strength to find the answers she seeks. He’s extremely patient with her and willing to do everything in his power to make her happy. He knows when to push and when to pull back. Jared never lets her down, which is a main reason Sawyer’s able to give her past closure.

Because this, for the most part, is Sawyer’s journey, the bulk of the story is told through her point of view, but a great addition to each chapter is Jared’s ½ chapter; they help shed light on what he’s thinking and feeling during the time he and Sawyer are both together and apart; they also illustrate just how perfect he is for her.

Sawyer Says is the perfect story for any reader who enjoys friends to lovers’ stories and a heroine whose journey leads to the happily right now both she and the hero deserves.

Here I was smack dab in the middle of my past with the man who clearly wanted my future.

I am ashamed to admit this is my first Carey Heywood book. I own all the rest, but you know how endless TBR’s can be. I’ll tell you though; there’s something to be said about being the last one to the party. I feel like I was opening a present that everyone else already had but for me it was brand new! For me?! If I had to wait for just the right time, I can think of no better character than Sawyer to pop my Heywood cherry! This girl was fun in a bottle; a no-holds barred conundrum of activity. And I loved every second of her.

This beautiful man loves me. I’ve never felt so scared at alive and the same time.

Having not read Him or Her, I went into this completely blind. I knew nothing of the characters or their history. Sawyer was such an interesting character for me to read and had such a unique background. She’d always felt unloved and unwanted, yet she was still, for the most part, whole. She had lived her life to the fullest except when it came to love. Knowing that if you had love you could lose love, she never wanted that in her heart. Funny how life happens though, right? And always when we least expect it. Jared has been her best friend since she was ten and unbeknownst to her, always in love with Sawyer. Ya’ll, I swooned like no other with this man! The way that he understood her inside and out. The way that he didn’t take her crap, yet knew when to back down. The way he called her on her insecurities yet gave her space to figure them out herself. The entire package was one I wanted to unwrap over and over again!

I bare my soul to Jared and find my mate.

I love stories where nothing is as it seems. Even more than that, I love romances with a little mystery. I loved that there wasn’t any unnecessary drama. Sawyer was a very in your face, take me as I am character and her truth flew from the pages. I cannot wait to dive into more Heywood books!

This is a 5 star read for me since I love HEA's

Jared Keller and Sawyer Sterling's story is a very emotional read. Like sexy, best friends to lovers stories? Then this is the book for you. It's brimming with so much emotion. The tension between Jared and Sawyer was out of control. The push and pull just made me want to keep turning from one page to another, wanting to know what was going to happen to them next.

Sawyer met Jared the first time when her godmother adopted her after her parents died. She is scared of commitment and one minute she's loving and then one minute hates to be close to anyone. She fights what she feels for Jared, but how long can you fight it when knowing for a fact that when you love someone, the more you fight it, the more you're going to want it. She knows she'll break his heart and being responsible for it is not something she can accept.

Jared was married but it didn't last long since his now ex-wife lost their baby and they broke up. So now he lives with Sawyer. They are best friends, but Jared has been secretly in love with Sawyer for as long as he could remember. He's willing to love her, even if she doesn't feel the same way, or so she said.. He doesn't want her to pull away from him and lose their friendship because of sleeping together, so he tried to be patient with her. The feeling of not knowing when you're totally falling for the other person, if they feel the same way, was very hard on Jared. He was willing to do anything Sawyer wanted just to have her in his life. It ended very sweet and I totally loved it.

Love Sawyer and Jared!!! Review to come.
5/15/14 Review
First let me wipe the tears away. The sadness and pain that Sawyer feels in the prologue is palpable. The fear breaks my heart.

The journey that Sawyer embarks on to find out about her family and about love is good--like Jack Kerouac good. When she opens up her heart and mind to the love that is all around her, her strength and sense of self grows. Which is saying a lot considering how amazing Sawyer is in Him and Her. She tells it like it is all the while keeping a distance from any commitments.

Then there is Jared. Jared gets Sawyer completely-heart and soul. Carey has given him a wonderful voice. I love the 1/2 chapters, I love knowing Jared's mind. How much he misses her, how well he knows her and loves her..how he will be happy being Uncle Jared if that is what she wants! When Luke and Jared are at the studio-how Jared goes there to check in cause he knows that will make Sawyer happy. (Maybe I love Sawyer too much?? naaaaaaah!)

Beautiful when Marie tells Sawyer-- "you love him. The rest is thinking too much."
The letters Carmen gives her. When she calls Sarah I started crying again-"she cries for me" and Sawyer allowing herself to believe she is loved...
And when she tells Jared she loves him-that scene is crystal clear to me in my head.

Especially love how Jared is still his own person even while he gives his heart to Sawyer, and would never ask her to change-just to trust him and let him in.
Love the ease and passion between Sawyer and Jared. They fit. Even after knowing each other so long they are still learning about each other. Their transition from friends to lovers- while rocky in the beginning- grew with ease.
I loved this book, it blended the right amount of romance, grief, hope, friendship and hot as hell love. Super kudos to Carey Heywood.

Let me tell you, Sawyer and Jared are HOT as hell. This book is extremely sexy and this couple is an explosive pair in the bedroom. As sexy and spicy as this story is there is also a great emotional journey underneath it all for Sawyer. She is an amazingly strong female lead. I loved her personality and attitude and it was fun watching Jared coax her out of her comfort zone. Sawyer's journey to find answers she's been seeking for years was very real and heartfelt. I truly ached for her.

Carey Heywood has an amazing gift when she writes, her stories consume me and I know every time I read one of her books I'm in for a treat. Sawyer Says was no exception. Loved it.

Sawyers Says was absolutely sweet and adorable!!!! It was my feel good HEA book. So if you are looking for a fun and sweet story with HEA that will leave you with a BIG FAT SMILE on your face, then I highly suggest Sawyers Says.

I was really surprised by how much I LOVED this book. I think anyone who experiences loss or love or regret as a child never quite understands that it can shape who they become as adults. Sawyer is a beautiful example of that.

"Coulda, shoulda, woulda, Sawyer. Time for second guessing yourself is over." -Jared

Sawyer Sterling lost her parents at a young age. Forced to spend her summers with her godmother and her son, she spends her school years in a Canadian boarding school. Fast forward years into the future when Sawyer is in her twenties living in Colorado, she doesn't know who she is. She knows her grandmother dumped her with her god mom after only having had her for a day. Now faced with the romantic feelings of her best friend, Jared Keller, Sawyer believes love means nothing when no one has ever loved her.

"I don't crash or fall. I detonate, exploding into uncountable pieces." -Sawyer

I enjoyed this story because Sawyer's entire concept of love is completely transformed over the course of this book due to all the influences of the people she surrounds herself with. It was a quick, emotional but no over-the-top emotional. Just enough to give you the feels.

Overall, this book definitely deserves 5 STARS out of 5 STARS.

This book is about a girl who lost her parents at an early age and was taken by her only living relative only to be sent away for others to care for her. Thinking that something must be wrong with her for her only living relative to not want her to be around Sawyer grew up taking care of herself and building walls around her heart. She doesn't "do" love and she's not interested on getting married and having kids. The only people she truelly trust are her best friend Sarah and her old friend Jared Keller.

The story is about Sawyer and partly Jared. They became roommate after Sarah moved to be with her now husband and Jared needed to start over. Sawyer is about to open up her Yoga studio when she got news that her grandmother has passed and she left all her belongings/property to Sawyer. This is where Sawyer began looking for answers about her grandmother and her past. She's always thought that it's something about her that her own grandmother didn't want to do anything with her. It's definitely a surprising twist on this part on what was the reason behind why she had to sent Sawyer away to live with her godmother and a very good friend of her grandma. On this journey is where she also realizes that she can finally love back and that nothing is holding her back but her stuborness.

Sawyer says is definitely a must read! Carey Heywood did a great job on hooking me into Sawyer's story from the very beginning.

Sawyer Sterling is a very independent and driven person. She has a very sad past which leads her to keep everyone at arm’s length. The only people who have been constants in her life are her best friend Sarah, and her childhood friend Jared Keller. When she and Jared cross the line of being friends to sleeping together, Sawyer has reevaluate herself if she can be the person that Jared deserves. She starts on a journey that reveals more about her past, which leads to her asking more questions about the person she really is. I could really connect with Sawyer’s internal conflict as to whether she could be the person that so many have told her she is.

I have to say, if I could find a Jared Keller in real life, I would be all over that! Jared was so incredibly patient with Sawyer as she dealt with her own insecurities and past. I mean he even gave her space when she needed it to get herself together, and encouraged her to get the answers to all of her questions even if he couldn't be there for her.
I would give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. It was such an emotional journey into Sawyers past to help her discover who she is capable of being. I highly suggest this read!

Sawyer Sterling has had a tough go of it in life. Her parents died when she was young, and she was sent to live with a friend of the family and her godmother, by her only living relative; her grandmother. She has issues with trust, being abandoned, and she believes in love and marriage; just not for her.

Jared is a childhood friend, and he has had his fair share of heartbreak in his life as well. A marriage that never should have happened, and a loss of a child. He really has been Sawyer’s constant.

When Sawyers past comes back to her present, he is there, and bound and determined to so her that she is worthy of everything that she says is just for everyone else. He knows her like the back of his hand. Jared knows when to push her limits, and when to pull back. He is patient, kind and loving.

This is a story of self-discovery, and friendship evolving into love. Jared and Sawyer melted my heart, and there were so many things in her that I see in myself! Completely believable and down to earth story!

Carey Heywood knows how to write! This story is amazing, it has enough angst, hotness and sweetness for anybody! It is a definite read! Congrats Carey on another fantastic book!

No one captures the raw emotion of loss and pain quite as beautifully as Carey Heywood. I fell in love with Sawyer during the HIM series, partly because of her devotion to her friends, her in your face strength, her quiet vulnerability, and her confident style. I knew that her story would be powerful and heartfelt, and Carey definitely delivered. I love the way that God places Angels in our path to help us find our way, and keep us encouraged and loved, and though Sawyer had many, Jared was her Gabriel. His constant love and devotion was so precious; and I loved that after each chapter, we got a glimpse into his mind and heart; what a sweetie! It was also nice to see Will and Sarah happy and doing well. Carey let us experience Sawyers journey through the realization of her past, while completely dispelling her previous perceptions of who she is and what she deserves; her metamorphosis was beautiful to witness. Thank you Carey for another touching story.

I have found a new book boyfriend in "Sawyer Says". This is a beautiful book about friendship, self-worth, and understanding and accepting love. Jared and Sawyer have been close friends for many years. These characters were briefly mentioned in "HIM", also by Ms. Heywood. In this story, Sawyer learns the answers to many questions she has had about her past and gains a new understanding of friendship and love. I do not like spoilers so I will simply suggest you read this book because you will love every character in it and when you finish the book, you will have the most beautiful smile on your face.

I recommend this book to adults 18+ due to sexual content. I have given this book 5 stars.

I was provided a prepublication copy of this book for an honest but not necessarily favorable review.

I was given this book for an honest review. This is a companion novel to Him and Her. Although it is a companion novel I read this without having read Him or Her and absolutely LOVED it.

I love how Carey Heywood can take her characters to a different level and that is exactly what she did in this book.
In this you meet Sawyer and Jared who have been best friends for years and who have also lived together as roommates. Although they are best friends there is an amazing chemistry between them. Although this is a story about that chemistry and love it is also one of discovery for Sawyer who thought she knew one thing but is learning so much more.

This book just captured me and would not let go until I finished it. Again I read as a standalone and absolutely adored it. Carey KNOCKED it out of the park with Sawyer Says!!!
