I love Unicorns. Like I really love them. I've got plushies, stickers, knick knacks and much more. So when I saw this book on NetGalley, I just had to ask for it. I was expecting this book to be much different than it was. I was thinking it would be more along the lines of Unicorns The Myths, Legends, & Lore by Skye Alexander with history, cultural differences, you know, that kind of stuff but this was more about using the Unicorn as a type of magic... like imagination, finding beauty in things, and it even talks about the chakras.

It's a very informative little book, well written and it's small enough that you could take it on the go. I just feel a bit... mislead? Again, not a bad book, it's great! I loved the exercise with the zipper for your third eye! That's going to come in handy for me fore sure!

I just felt like this book was going to be something much different. If you go into this knowing what you're getting, you'll love it. Simple as that.

This book came to me at a perfect time. I can only describe my finding of it as a "unicorn moment." I had just moved back to my home state and had an appointment to view a home to potentially rent when I realized I would be going right past an old favorite bookstore I hadn't been to in years. So, I stop in, 20 minutes before they closed, and 10 minutes later, this little bright pink book about my favorite magical creature. By an Angela no less! I couldn't help but think "By Angie, for Angie, love, Angie."

While I have only read this and not used any of the excersises, I'm very much looking forward to utilizing them as well as the practical advise the book gives for leading a more present, and happy life. I move into that place I was looking at renting this weekend, so I'll finally have a place to put all of these tips and rituals to good use!

Although I had to give up reading for several personal reasons, I kept thinking about this book. The author has an enviable charisma, which combines with her vast knowledge about these striking creatures. It helped me recover my inner child on more than one occasion. In short, a book that many will like.

Although this book was edited well and flowed fine, I feel like I’ve read this information numerous times before. Except Angela A. Wix put Unicorns in place of Angels, Spirit Guides, Totem Animals, ect…
Unicorns are hot right now so it was a good marketing idea either on her part or that of the editors. It drew me in to want to read the book, so they knew what they were doing in that regard. The historical aspects of the unicorn was interesting, but didn’t make up for the lack of original self-help ideas.

I can never understand when people have guided meditation in written form. If I’m going to be guided through a meditation practice, I want it read to me so I can relax and visualize what is going on. I can’t see it being very effective if you have to continual stop your practice to read what you are supposed to be thinking about next. If you are okay with reading a guided meditation then those parts of the book may really be enjoyable to you. For me, it would not be something I would use.

And one other part that really stuck out to me was the Unicorn Mist. As a Certified Aromatherapist, safety is always a factor when it comes to essential oils. Below is a very basic rundown, but there is more that goes into the safety then the few sentences I have here.

Citrus oils can be very harmful to cats. Their livers can not metabolize them and they are very sensitive to phenols. Tea Tree oil is very harmful to dogs.
Not only is the safety towards animals not talked about, but whenever you use an essential oil on skin, you need to have a carrier oil with it.
And nothing is talked about in regards to preserving the mist. Either making a new batch every week or using alcohol or some other preservative so it doesn’t grow mold. Who wants to put mold on their skin or in the air?!?

If you rarely read self-help books or really like unicorns you may want to read this one. But with the lack of originality and the incomplete information on the essential oils this is not a book I would recommend.

Initially when I first started reading this book, I assumed it would be about the various attributes of a unicorn but this book was so much more than that! I was very pleasantly surprised. What starts off as an account of the unicorn myth in history and the authors personal experiences soon turns into a interesting self-help book on how to connect to your own inner sparkle and embrace what gives you joy and delight in life!

I really enjoyed the meditative exercises in this book. It seemed to me the author uses the idea of the unicorn, as a way to harness a positive power that we all have access to, if we look within ourselves. I like this idea. Particularly that using a symbol such as the unicorn, to focus on can incite a state of awe and wonder in ourselves, when we truly connect with what gives us joy in life.

Despite a slow start, I really enjoyed this book and found the topic intriguing. It certainly has provoked me to think about brings me joy and sparkle in my life.

I have since decided to enroll on a course on crystals (that is a passion and interest of mine).

I always enjoy reading books by the publisher ‘Llewellyn’s’ and this one didn’t disappoint.

I would recommend this book if you are interested in mediation and unicorns.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this advanced copy of ‘Llewellyn’s little book of Unicorns’ in exchange for a honest review.

While the actual content lost my interest and easily became another beginner book (this time with a focus drawing back to the unicorn analogy), I was still interested in the topic. Was this the best book for me? Meh. The exercises and info was definitely been there, done that by countless other books. But, the brief lines here and there that aren’t part of the every day books were intriguing. It’s something I’d look into further on my own with the same attitude I’d approach spirit animals. I wish there had been more of that focus on the book rather than a sort of archetype/metaphor in your daily life. Again, high review because it did encourage me to seek out more information on the topic and left me thinking about it. It’s not bad, just a lot of filler with basic info every other Craft book has included.

In this wonderful book on self reflection, you are opened up to numerous paths to improve your overall well being. I enjoyed the stories the author told about her own life experiences, as she instructs you on how to reach your true inner self. I found several of the exercises to be extremely beneficial, to my personal path of enlightenment. This book explains how our lives are influenced by our experiences, and how we perceive them. We only need to open our eyes to see the true meaning of what the universe is trying to tell us." Llewellyn's Little Book of Unicorns" by Angela A. Wix inspires you to obtain a grounding clarity to your true self.💜#Netgalley #Llewellyn'slittlebookofunicorns

What an amazing book on self reflection and self help to add to the bookshelf. Starting with the history and mythology of unicorns and ending with searching inside oneself to discover or rediscover the things that make a person happy and shine. I really do love these Little Books.

I received a free review copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest unedited feedback.

I'm not sure what I think about this book. I am interested in some of the concepts presented. However, I didn't fully understand others. I liked the part about the crystals. I might be able to get some use out of that part. The "exercises" in the book weren't for me. Again, I'm not sure I fully understood them. I did feel there was a lot of repetition (as in the same sentence would show up on the same page 3 times). Maybe this book didn't come to me at the right time? Maybe I am too skeptical? I don't know. For me, it is somewhere in the 2.5 - 3 star range.

Certainly was more than I expected.
I started reading expecting to learn some lore about unicorns but learned so much more. By having an open mind about mythological spirit guides, Llewellyn's Little Book of Unicorns show readers how to connect with a unicorn spirit. This book has several excercises to help you achieve your goal.

A very good book full of food for thought and well written.
It's not a book for unicorn lover as it's using unicorn as a metaphor and guiding you to look inside yourself.
A very interesting and useful read.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

What?

I had absolutely no idea that ''unicorn magic'' was a thing, but okay. It was informative, but since I quickly lost interest in the subject, I got bored.

An interesting take on unicorns in the world and around us. For the most part I agree with Angela Wix's assessment of how unicorns are special to people but I find that they are more on the same level as fairies.

Really nice for those who connect with unicorns. An introduction to some topics like chakras, dreams, passions, crystals decluttering, the need to believe. Get some tips and exercises to work with the unicorn energy.

Llewellyn’s Little Book of Unicorns provides recommendations for finding everyday inspiration and magic in your life utilizing the concept of unicorn energy and magic. The book is well-written and the author includes frequent exercises to engage the reader. I particularly enjoyed the beginning chapter about the history of unicorn folklore around the world. Ultimately I did not finish the book because the concept of unicorn magic/energy as described did not end up speaking to me, but spiritual beliefs are very individual so others will likely feel differently. I do think that individuals who are open to spirituality utilizing unicorn spirit guides, chakras, crystals, and dreams will enjoy this book.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. The opinions in this review are honest and my own. #LlewellynsLittleBookOfUnicorns #unicorns
