Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this name. See this thread for more information.

Armed with books in the crook of my elbow, I can go anywhere. That’s my philosophy! Better yet, I’ll write the books that will take me on an adventure.

My heroes are a bit broken but will make you swoon. My heroines are their own kick-ass characters armed with humor and a plethora of sarcasm.

If I’m not tucked away in my writing den, with coffee firmly gripped in hand, you can find me with a book propped on my pillow, a pit bull lying across my legs, a Lab on the floor next to me, and two kittens running amuck.

My current adventure has me living in Idaho with my own gray-bearded hero, who’s put up with my shenanigans for over thirty years, and he doesn’t mind all my book boyfriends.
If you love romance, suspense, military men, lots of action and adventure infused with emotion, tear-worthy moments, and laugh-out-loud humor, dive into my books and let the world fall away at your feet.

Derrick Rebel – Derrick is a Navy SEAL who is betrayed on a mission and he and Theo are the only ones to survive. He still carries the weight and guilt of what happened that day.

Fallon Davis – Fallon’s sister Josie needs a kidney transplant which is how she meets Derrick and Rebel. She is willing to do whatever is necessary to help her sister, but will it be enough?

Theo Drake – He is the only surviving member of the team. He has a painful past and an innate need to protect and help those around him.

Rebel’s Retribution – Derrick, Fallon and Theo must work together against a common threat is they are to escape with their lives

I really enjoyed getting the backstory on the characters before Rebel’s Retribution as it gave you a better understanding of them. This story takes you on emotional journey filled with twists and suspense.

If you’re looking for a non stop action and suspense story this is the one for you. We’re given an intertwined series with the only surviving members of The Gunners, Captain Derrick Rebel and Theo while they go on the hunt for those whom betrayed them. At first I felt a bit of repetition occurring and was loosing interest because yes we’re seeing it through the eyes of each individual but it was pretty much the same lines over and over. It wasn’t until Fallon was introduced that I felt the storyline move forward strong and fiercely. The twists and turns kept me on my toes wanting more and continuously wondering who was the leader behind it all. A great military read.

Rebel’s Retribution is book 1 in the Fated Lives series by Kelly Moore. This is broken down into 4 segments within the book which all interconnects. This was not what I expected...but Oh What A Ride!

Derrick Rebel and Theo Drake are the only surviving members of their Seal team after an ambush...betrayed by the woman Derrick loved, trusted and was part of his team...Nina. Now they must figure out where their lives are headed...

When a woman in need of help and approaches Derrrick and Theo they form a task team to assist Fallon Davis and her sister, which takes them on a journey no one sees coming...

Well written, lots of suspense, twists, turns, survivor guilt, depression, anger and so much more which leads you into the next book...Theo’s Retaliation!

First of all, just take a moment to enjoy and appreciate the sexy man on this cover! I already loved the idea of Rebel, but once I saw the cover I realized that Kelly had perfectly captured what I pictured him to be!

I absolutely loved the character of Rebel, loved Theo, and ended up loving Fallon. But Fallon was tricky for me initially. She was understandably worried about her sister, as well as, her own safety, but it took a while for her to really start grabbing my attention. However, after finishing the book and looking back on her character, I like the way she was developed and slowly came out of her shell. She went from being somewhat reserved to sparring with Rebel in a boxing ring to being in an unimaginable and dangerous situation.  Rebel, Theo, and Fallon all developed and changed in the story, but Fallon's character stands out the most as far as adapting and making changes based on her experiences.

My followers already know how much I love Kelly Moore's novels, but this one was special because it took me back to her Broken Pieces series, which were the first books that I read by her. This book gave me that nostalgic feeling with the military and crime components, paired with the fast-paced action and suspense. There are constant twists and turns, then there were "aha moments," and then there would be some exciting twist again, and so on.

I wish I could go into detail about the many things I loved about the plot, but I absolutely don't want to give any spoilers because the fantastic thing about this book is trying to figure out what's going on, why, and who is responsible. Besides the suspense/thriller aspects of the novel, there is also a perfect amount of humor and romance added in making it a perfect read regardless of your preferred genre. The overall themes include persevering, taking chances, overcoming trauma/heartbreak, and the importance of finding happiness and beauty again, whatever that means to you.

Loved Rebel, loved this story, and recommend it highly!

This is not a cliffhanger novel and things are mostly wrapped up in the end, but it definitely leaves you wanting more and has me crazy excited about Theo's upcoming book!

*Many thanks to Kelly Moore for providing this review copy in exchange for my honest review!

This book is exciting, suspenseful, and has more twists than barbed wire. This is a well thought out book that has characters with so much real emotion and depth. Derrick Rebel’s Seal team will have you sitting on the edge of your seat in anticipation of what comes next. The military family comradery, the heat of someone that loves passionately, and the heartbreak of losing someone to war and betrayal. Then come life after survival....the guilt, the depression, and oh so much anger, and the often time solution, turning to the bottle.
As these story’s come to point out, there is life after service, this time it just happens to be Of a similar nature to what Rebel and his buddy and teammate Theo have been use to. Protection.... enter Josie and Fallon Davis. Two women with a problem that they never knew they had. Their story will keep you interested, make you feel, then rip your heart out. Danger continues around every corner, Theo and Rebel come across more than they had bargained for, including the terroist from their past. More characters are introduced that you want to know more about, more tissues are needed, and a lamp, because you will be reading late into the night. The next few books in this saga cannot come fast enough, these are stories that i want to know what happens NOW! Thank you Kelly, for writing such a good series.

If you want an intense read with some military and investigative lifestyle…THIS IS IT!

Rebel’s Retribution by Author Kelly Moore is an incredibly written story about a strong military SEAL group lured in to capture a “most wanted” terrorist in enemy territory.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat, and I was so frustrated with parts (only because of how well the author wrote the characters and the storyline!), plus it was so detailed, amazing characters, injuries, death, heroism, betrayal, military, and left perfectly to start the next part of the series.
I love Author Kelly Moore’s character descriptions! I think this is one of the things that draws me into her stories so well. I loved this one and would highly recommend it! Can’t wait for the next part to release!

There are Trigger Warnings: **Human Trafficking **PTSD.

Derrick Rebel. Book 1
This is one of those books you love, but hate what happens. Derrick Rebel is a Seal that has something terrible happen to him. He was like two different people in the book. I loved the strong person he started off as, but wanted to smack him at times half way through. I felt bad for him, but wanted him to buck up. I hated how betrayed he was. I am hoping there is more to his story as there is more I need to find out! I strongly encourage you to read the book.

Fallon Davis Book 2
This book is separate from the last book, but it helps to read Rebel first. I felt so bad for Fallon and her sister Josie. Not only were they both adopted, but Josie has a terrible kidney condition. I loved how close they were even though they were not blood sisters. Then something terrible happens to Fallon that makes her afraid when she is out on the street. I was happy to see she met a friend when she went to Europe. The end left me once again eager for the next book to see where this goes! I encourage you to read the book.

Theo Drake. Book 3
This book is a lot like the first book, but we get to see how Theo became the man he is, made it to the team and how he handles what happened to him on the last mission. I felt bad about Theo and how horrible his father was. I was glad to see there was a good cop who tried to help Theo when he was younger and in trouble. I am anxious to read the next book.

Rebel’s Retribution Book 4
I was so glad to see Fallon again, but felt bad because she was afraid as someone was chasing her. You can see that Theo still has a soft spot for Fallon. Unfortunately Rebel is still being a jerk to everyone including Fallon. I can understand that Rebel feels anger towards Fallon as she looks like Nina who betrayed him. It was exciting for Rebel to start his security business with Theo and his brother Sean. And with their first case trying to figure out why and who is after Fallon. The story is very exciting, and stressful when they get to Germany. I can’t wait until the next story! I strongly encourage you to read these books. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of these books.

Rebel's Retribution
Fated Lives Series, Book 1
By: Kelly Moore
Narrated by: Brad Gilliam

Wow, this is a fantastic story, I have enjoyed and loved Kelly Moore’s “Epic Love Stories” series, it is great to see another side of her wonderful writing style. Her stories are captivating from start to end and this one is no exception. This is an original story told in a unique way and I loved every minute of it and how she presented it which I found fascinating. The three main characters tell their stories in their point of view. You get to know each character, how they meet and how their lives intertwine and the relationships they develop. I adored and admired all three leads, Derrick Rebel, Theo Drake and Fallon Davis. They are good people, each having their own will and strength. Derrick and Theo former Navy Seals are the only survivors after their team was ambushed on a mission. Derrick feels responsible and blames himself. He finally starts to get his life back in order, his brother Sean and Theo are in his corner for support. When a woman runs to them for help they wind up finding a new mission in life, to uncover some of the most heinous crimes. There is never a dull moment in this book, there is plenty of drama, action, angst, thrilling suspense, some heartfelt moments and a slow burn romance. Well done on the PTSD, showing what some soldiers go thru after returning home. Thank you Kelly Moore for another amazing story and ride on the emotional rollercoaster.

I listened to the Audible edition, Brad Gilliam did a nice job bringing the characters and the story to life. He set the perfect tone for the story, projected the emotions of the characters in to his performance as well as the drama of the story. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen🎧

(audiobook) I didn’t know what I expected, but it wasn’t that. First of all, it isn’t one single book, but 4 shorter books giving the story in various point of views. Don’t be surprised to go over the same event a couple of times because it’s seen from another perspective. As those point of views weren’t much different, it felt a bit repetitive though.

The prominence of war’s consequences was what I enjoyed the most. Be it PTSD, survivor guilt, or missing limbs and other scars, I thought it was well written, though each one could have been more detailed. Death’s weren’t pretty and there was a lot of blood. A true war action book. For half of it. The other half isn’t slow either, but more in an undercover mission sort of way. It deals with human trafficking, so be prepared to read about despicable things. The romance part, though, felt sloppy, which is too bad because it’s kind of the main character’s motivation.

I have mixed feelings about the narration. It was quite expressive, but sometimes a bit too much. And no female voice whatsoever, even though there are a couple of important female characters.

If you like war action movies, or spy movies, you may enjoy this book, but don’t bother with the audiobook.

Quickie

- Series: Fated lives #1 (no real cliffhanger but book 2 follows book 1 directly)
- Hashtags: #military romance #romantic suspense #betrayal
- Triggers: gruesome deaths during a military operation, human trafficking, lost limb, PTSD, mention of abuse
- Main couple: mystery, because it would give away part of the plot
- Hotness: 3/5
- Romance: 2/5
- + lots and lots of action
- – narration wasn’t so good

So this is a new author to me and what an introduction! This book was everything you want and need to make a story suck you in and and make it incredibly hard to put down. The suspense and twists in this story were so entwined it kept you turning each and every page to get more information to put the puzzle together. If the well written story line of what these characters encounter and work through aren't enough the characters themselves will seal the deal. The characters are former military who have seen the worst of the world and also have lived through it where others have not. These characters are so layered and complicated due to what they have done, seen and survived that your heart will break and ache for each one of them. I didn't feel right talking about the book details themselves as I was afraid one, this review would be too long and two that it would contain spoilers. My thoughts and opinion, this is a great series to get into, you will not disappointed. My recommendation - have a chunk of time to read this because you will not want to be interrupted between page one and the end.

This book has 4 stories into one book. We have the story of Derrick Rebel and his love with Nina. This story follows him and his team on a mission into enemy territory. It follows us through what happened after the mission and Derrick's state of mind.

Up next is Fallon. This follows her and her sister, who is very sick and needs a transplant. She has been thrusted into Rebel and Theo's life thanks to her sister's illness. She has to come to terms with her death as well as why this transplant company wants her.

Theo is the last in the Fated lives. He Follows Fallon after she is baited and kidnapped. We follow along with him on what happens. While on his mission he finds a missing girl and tries to save her.

In The last book. It ties all three characters together and what happened next. This book is great, it kept me on the edge of my seat. I kept thinking I figured something out and then thrown for a loop.

Kelly Moore does a great job with this book and series. Highly recommend picking it up!

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed these stories about Derrick and Sean Rebel, Theo Drake, Josie and Fallon Davis. This is a connection of stories about how their lives inter mingle with the other. Derrick and Theo are Navy seals that have a failed mission that leaves them the only survivors. Theo loses his arm but manages to recover. Derrick is having a harder time adjusting since he was team leader. Fallon meets Theo as he is traveling to meet the team for the first time. They become friends but nothing more. When they see each other at Sean's bar when she's being followed, Theo's protectiveness takes over. The guys are in the case to find out who is after her. Meanwhile Fallon is dealing with Josie being sick and needing a transplant. But the company that said the have a donor for is stalling to get her help. Great adventure story with lots of twists and turns. see them overcome betrayal, injury, death and kidnapping.

WARNING!
This read has triggers! Read with caution.

Derrick Rebel
An Alpha man. He's stubborn, strong and he blames himself for what had happened, but is it really his fault? This story is full of loss, blame and anger.

Fallon Davis
A strong-willed businesswoman that will do anything for Her Loved ones. This one has triggers. Those were presented in a really expressive way that I had expected form The author. Well written

Theo Drake
I like Theo The most out of The 3 characters. He's
Laid back, funny and yet he also has a tough past that shaped him to The man he is now. What had happened to this man? Will his hard past put his future in danger?

Rebel’s Retribution
Crap, this one was filled with emotions that were so overwhelming! I really enjoyed The way The story was told - from three POVs with each character so different and that even when it was Rebel's story he Has not dominated it in 100%.
Each character was somehow scarred during The Life and has a different way of thinking - that made The read even better.

This is a totally different type of story I love he fact that you get three shirt stories giving you the back story of the three main characters and then you get the larger story as they all work together. There is plenty of drama and excitement which keeps you enthralled all the way through and the POV writing gives an insight into each character

This is the story of Derek Rebel he was the leader of his seal team the The Gunners when they where betrayed he lost them all except one he is all alpha male who cannot get over the betrayal and has turned into himself where no one can hurt him. Theo Drake the youngest member of the gunners and the only other survivor he is a brash cocky youngster but has overcome a dark past to get where he is in life and Fallon Davis a smart business woman who will do whatever she needs to for family and friends. These three damaged souls ill have to work together if they are to destroy the criminal that has impacted on all there lives.

ONE "WOW FACTOR" ADVENTURE!!!
Oh man! A swirling, churning vortex of  unavoidable mishaps and strategic events launch a full range of emotions bursting into play front and center. One page flipping wonder that keeps you in a tail spin on a razors edge throughout this gripping storyline and thrilling plot as piece by piece is brought together seamlessly. Combating the trials and tribulations through perilous paths, unnerving danger and heart pounding suspense as tension spirals fusing this bad boy together exquisitely. The chemistry is high, circumstances unnerving, action packed and intense thrusting this fantastic gem to life spectacularly. The characters are genuine and authentic with depth and individuality that blends in such a smooth flowing rhythm. The scenes are so vividly graphic you have no trouble deciphering each scenario as they play off one another perfectly. Remarkable job Kelly, thanks for sharing.

I had to really take some time to think about what I wanted to write about this book. First, This book is Spectacular! The details of the story itself, the complexity of each character, the precision with the development of the storyline. These things come together beautifully to keep you on the edge of your seat. I was not able to set it aside. I love how Kelly let's you see the characters strengths and weakness. She pulls you in and shows you them at their best and worse. Struggles are a way of life, nothing is ever free or easy. The question is are the willing to go through it all for their soulmate/love? When is enough ? Stay or run? This is a definite must read! I want to know what is next. This book will capture your heart and not let go! Get yours today. I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance reader copy of the book and I bought it!

Audible Review
I love this author's work. She always gives me lots of "feels" when I listen to her books and Rebels Retribution was definitely a full on "feels" book.

This book tells the story of 3 individuals that their lives have intertwined over the years and so it goes from present day to past throughout the book so you have to keep up with where they are at that point but it tells you so just listen and you will be able to follow them.

Derrick Rebel is the Seal leader and Theo is his snipper, Fallon meets Theo by chance on a plane and years later she is dependent on both Theo and Derrick to save her. No spoilers here but know it is a great story of great characters that deal with some ruff situations. It is a love story to some effects but there is more action and traumatic events going on besides hot love. I was totally engulfed with these three as well as other characters throughout and I can't wait to listen to the next book in this series.

Brad Gilliam did an amazing job narrating this book. He really poured his heart and soul into the characters and wow, just wow I loved listening to him.

I loved this book and highly recommend it.

I enjoyed all the books in this. There are 3 separate lives that become entwined. Rebel was the captain of the Seal Team and led his men into an operation into the mountains of Afghanistan to get a rebel leader. They were ambushed due to info from their handler and his girlfriend who he had asked to marry him. All were killed except Rebel and Theo, the youngest member of the Seal team who had an arm lost in the ambush. Rebel became bitter and trusted no woman. Fallon was on a plane to Europe when a young soldier, Theo, was on the plane next to her and they became friend. He was on the way to join the Seal team. Their lives become entwined and there is so much intrigue I couldn't put it down.

THIS! This is a book that will take you through the spectrum of your emotions! The author introduces us to Rebel who led a SEAL team that was ambushed and all killed except for Rebel and Theo who lost an arm. Earlier Fallon met Theo on a plane when he was on his way to meet up with his SEAL team. These three all intersect at certain points and become embroiled in the intrigue and drama. We see the growth of individuals and the team as they learn to work together to defeat the common foe. The action and adventure is amazing. You are pulling for the team throughout the book. Will they succeed? Can they find peace? Will they find their HEA? Well done! I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.

I liked this book!
It was a bit strange at first because you have the presentation of the characters but it is divided in parts, so at a certain point the narration interrupts and you are catapulted in a new time and space to be introduced to a new character. Also the plot often is reiterated in some parts common to more characters.
Once all the characters are presented the story begins and as always Kelly is brilliant. Reading her stories is like watching a movie! Actions, characters and dialogues are written so well that the reader has the impression to be inside the book and that the story is happening 5 meters from him/her!
I am really happy about this new series by the author and can’t wait to read the following book!

Such a great read! I loved how the characters' stories overlapped so well!

This box set involves Rebel, Fallon and Theo’s intertwined stories!

Rebel was not a complicated man and was one of the best SEAL captains around that is until he is betrayed in the worst way possible. While trying to figure out his new life as a civilian fate walks right into his life in the form of Fallon.

Fallon is looking for help for her and her sister but what she ends up being involved in is something that will haunt her forever.

Theo has had a tough upbringing but the Gunners is the best thing that ever happened to him as protecting people is what he lives for.

3.5 stars 🌟

This is three short scene setting stories, then followed by the full book.

This is an interesting approach which gives you the background on the characters and how their lives are intertwined. I just felt that the first two gave the context you needed and therefore the third was a little repetitive. Although this didn’t distract from the overall story.

This is a great new series with lots of potential, I really like the characters and how they fit together and therefore how the story builds; this series feels like it will just get stronger & stronger. Looking forward to the next book.

This book is so engrossing that I had a hard time putting it down. I enjoyed how it was broken up for the first three books so as a reader we can get to know why Rebel, Fallon and Theo were the way they were. I felt for Rebel and how he blames himself for all that happened. Fallon and her loss broke my heart and made me cry. Theo is sweet but tough when needed to be. I want to read more on him and his fight to get Fiona. I loved this box set and can't wait for the next book to come out in this series.

Rebel, Theo and Fallon’s story is addictive! War hero that lives his life with guilt, regrets and anger turns into a savior; you can’t stop yourself from feeling for Rebel and his hard badass personality. I really like the action throughout the book and getting to know each character including their past. Action, loss, deceptions, anger and a sense of brotherhood; loved it all! If you’re looking for a series that you won’t put down till the end you’ll be served. I cannot wait for the next books to come along and find out what happens to certain characters we got a glimpse of. Once again Kelly Moore was able to hook me to a new series !

This story is actually three connected stories. I love this concept. Rebel, Theo and Fallon are the major characters. I loved the action, suspense, roller coaster of emotions, love and loss. All the emotions with some surprises in the journey. Fallon is my kind of shero with her feisty character traits. Rebel is a tough as nails alpha with the scars and inner turmoil to prove it. Theo is a young all in, positive for country and military. I enjoyed all the character's stories and I am looking forward to Theo's story in the books that follow. Author Moore continues to deliver with her powerful story lines and characters.

What happens when someone you should be able to trust intimately destroys not only you, but friends/ family who relied on their trust of you?

Betrayals fun deep, but so does the dedication to having those lives and deaths mean something more.

Efforts to rebuild give Derrick and Theo another chance at something. For them, for Fallon, for the fallen. Maybe a chance.

Moving KU read . Makes you think about the broken pieces of who and what are left behind and what the could do next.

No easy second chances here.

I received an advance copy of this book from Booksprout. I read on Kindle Unlimited.

Kelly Moore's Rebel's Retribution is different from everything else I've read. It is so much better than I thought. It was an emotional rollercoaster ride of ups and downs! You thought it was going one direction then BAM! It goes another way. I felt everything Derrick was going through. I cried, I yelled at my kindle. I absolutely loved Derrick and what he went through. Fallon was a amazing she knew what she was felt a crappy hand and did what she could to help her sister. I couldn't put it down, I was gripped from the first chapter. I absolutely FLOVED IT!
