The Winding Path: Evolving Eclectic Witchcraft

Rate this book
Witchcraft need not be confined to a religious context or bound by dogma. Instead, tradition and progress, past and present meet and co-exist for the modern eclectic Witch. With 40 lessons in earth-based magick, this book delves into the practice of the solitary forging their own path, from seeker to leader. You will progress from basic practices and knowledge about moon phases, magick, and ritual, to deeper explanations about astral work, aspecting, and serving the larger community. Homework at the end of each chapter offers an opportunity to put knowledge into practice and deepen your connection to the energies around you. Focused less on deity worship and more on actual magickal practice, this book offers a grounding in theory and technique for today's Witch.

I enjoyed the tone, pacing and activities in this book. The book is fun and welcoming. Rossi gives great entry level explanations and she follows it with an experiential activity that will show readers what she means better than any words could.

While I don't use everything Rossi offers, I don't think she's actually encouraging witches to use all the tools, but to try them and see what has meaning for them.

The only thing I think would help new folks is some template rituals. Yes, spell and ritual work is best when a person creates them but I think a few stock spells and rituals a person can try help them develop a sense of what they like or don't like and what they will need in their future creations. Starting from scratch and creating all the words/nuances is daunting when most people are coming out of a faith where the priest/religious authority does all that and you just spectate.

Really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to more selections from this author.

A MUST read!!!

This book was very educational, informative. Wonderful homework assignments, it touches deeper levels of meditation and energy work, teaches you about thought forms and so many other things other books do not. This is a great book for every stage of your witchcraft journey, from beginners to crones.. Great book!

Basic and a little more

It starts with many basics, but gives very little info on the basics. So don’t expect it to teach you everything if you are a beginner.
It adds on rites of passage like hand castings and funerals which I haven’t seen in many books.
