Deborah is the author of over a dozen non-fiction books on modern witchcraft and a tarot and oracle decks from Llewellyn. Her fiction includes the Baba Yaga series, The Broken Rider series, and the Veiled Magic series, and her cozy mysteries The Catskill Pet Rescue series (mostly from Berkley) as well as a few stand-alone novels.
Deborah lives in a 130 year old farmhouse in upstate NY with multiple cats. She believes in magic, laughter, chocolate, and wine. The order may change depending on the day.
It feels infused with the same soft, "feel good" and pleasant energy that the Everyday Witch Tarot also has. So yeah, if you like witches and cats you will like this one - Very cute and the readings are quite insightful and hit home each time I have used the cards. The info you get for each card is also great - first a general meaning, then 3 sections - actions, divination and magic - depending on what you indented to use them for.
Now the big complain: It loses a star (and I have to admit I was temped to cut even more stars!) because it is the worse organized book-cards system I have ever came across. I tried to give it a couple of days to "get used" to it - and it did not happen. I ended up writing on both the cards and the booklet so I can find a card meaning faster (basically, there are 40 cards, each for a n element - water, fire, earth and air. Then, each number mean something - eg 3s are for meditation, 6s action etc. This is how the booklet is organized - and this is the big fault because: 1. you open it up - you will have no idea at what element you are at and you have to turn pages back and forth to find out; 2. This info is not on the cards. The cards only have a description - eg "give love". Good luck trying to find out which number of the card out of which element (earth, air etc) it belongs to... The only hints on the cards are kind of the colors (eg earth is greenish, air is purplish) and sometimes the description and image/symbols). And, for an oracle, you do need to consult the booklet, as there are no standard meanings... alphabetical would have been way easier.
I absolutely love Deborah Blakes "Everyday Witch Tarot", the imagery inspires amazing readings for myself and my clients. I was thrilled, that she was coming out with an oracle deck (Sept.8), which I would love to incorporate into a tarot/oracle spread, to get a more in-depth reading with my tarot. Blessings
Quick impressions: Overall, this is a good deck for beginners. It's one I could give to folks who have never used an oracle deck before. It's a light and fun deck, very casual.
