Dispatching Baudelaire

Rate this book
Throughout his life accountant Mike Shaw has played it safe, kept his head down, and avoided risk. But when Mike meets Laura in a bar off The Strand, their lives are irrevocably changed. Small, sexy, smart -- and utterly dangerous -- Laura instantly spellbinds Mike and leads him into a world of moral depravity, dominated by the sinister presence of her powerful and rich father, Harold Benton. Dispatching Baudelaire is about what can happen to the blandest of men when he is seduced by money, power and sex...

This was great! It reminded me how much I love Bruen's writing. It was a quick read, and a great noir character study. I really, really enjoyed it.

The dialogue is good, but the plot is a bit thin, and none of the characters are particularly attractive.

I love Ken Bruen's writing and have read pretty much all of it. I finally got hold of a copy of this book and read it in a handful of sittings.
It's a wild journey through the madness that can happen when a quiet, mild man is thrust in to a world of sex, money and violence.

I think Mr. Bruen might have been still pinching a wee bit of the happy powder writing this one,
would only recommend to the die hardest of fans.
That said it is still full of his very brilliant style.

Wild

Reminded me of Bret Easton Ellis. Punchy, fast and totally insane. A quick and exciting read. What an exciting ride!

Very good - not typical Bruin kill and run Irish noir but interesting.

in this book, you can find something from deep inside of you. Fear, sadness, hopelessness and more. but besides, you will read some secret funny quotes, jokes and weird conversation. However, really awesome.

İlk Ken Bruen okumam, sanırım son olabilir. Avi Pardo'nun (her zamanki gibi) şahane çevirisine rağmen tüm o acayip karakterler ve diyaloglar bana biraz yapay ve eğreti geldi.
