I used to be innocent. Optimistic and carefree. But once he woke me from my peaceful slumber, He showed me his dark side. He’ll never let me go again…
I saw him waiting for me on the horizon. The nightmare man. Every step he took broke the soil. Gold spurs arched over the heels of his cavalier boots. A thick scar ran across his face. He looked deep into my eyes and grinned.
When he was near, he knelt down, revealing a single rose. I knew he’d be the man to take me away from my family forever. I knew he’d break me.
I tried to run. I screamed, gasping for air. I was trapped in his dark and pointed eyes, consumed by his wicked smile. He took my hand and showed me the sunken place, the darkest recesses of his deplorable mind.
From the start, he made on oath to never let me go. And though I still dream of a day I can escape him, I should know better. Nightmares are for dreamers.
Penelope Woods brings you the start of something twisted, sinister, and steamy. Born Taken is a wicked 11,000 word prelude to the Broken Angel Series. The series ends with a HEA, but for now, this author must warn you: if you are easily offended or triggered, be prepared to turn away.
Definitely not what I thought it was going to be like. It sounded really good, but I was very confused once I started reading. I could not keep up with what was happening and started skimming through to be done with it. Because it is a prequel it is very short, but it still took me a few days to get through. Some parts seemed interesting enough to pique my interest into reading the series, so I don't want to write this off either.
Regardless of my personal review, I hope whoever seems interested in reading this will still give it the benefit of the doubt. My likes and dislikes can be the opposite to anyone else...

I'm a little undecided on this one, so I will give the next book a chance, but there are some things that I struggled with. I understand that this is set in the Omegaverse, and I realize that there will be similarities between the books, but I spent most of this one being confused. I think the first think I struggled with is the female character's name. Wren is the main character in another Omegaverse series I read, and that, combined with plot elements, made this one feel like a poor imitation of the other. I am also confused about the story line itself. It jumped around a lot, is very disjointed, and hard to follow. I found myself having to go back and re-read sections to try to comprehend what was going on. I have no idea what is reality and what is in her head, I'm confused as to what the world looks like, and I'm confused about the whole Alpha/Omeag/Beta stuff with this one. I am going to hold complete judgment until after I try out the next book, and I hope to get some clarity.
The description of this prequel was so good and right up my ally, but I had a hard time following what was actually happening in the book. It was just so disjointed; I don’t even know how to explain what was happening with the writing. In a way, I want to know what happens in the series, but I don’t know that I want to purchase the first book because I fear the writing style may be the same and I just couldn’t follow along with what was really happening, so I don’t want to get stuck on the series and be lost the entire time.
This is a great introduction to this world. We are introduced to some strong characters and an interesting plot. This world is dark, and you are introduced to some nasty characters and even those that seem to be the heroes of the tale are ones to be wary about. I was pulled in right from the beginning and am eager to see what will happen now.

Right off the bat, I was thrown into the story and I never stopped turning the pages! The story flips between Wren and her men shaping the story. While there are triggers, it is definitely a book that primes you for the new series. This is the first book I’ve read from Pamela Woods and I can’t wait for Born Taken!

This is a short story setting up the new series from this author. It is an intriguing look at a new world crafted by descriptive words that put the reader right into the story with the characters. I felt an immediate connection to the main character. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the men. I didn't like how they talked about her as though she wasn't a person. I guess that was part of the author's crafted world. This is going to be a dark series just based on that knowledge.
I was a little confused at first but got over that quickly the more that I read of this prequel. I so cant wait to read the first book of the series though. You will love reading about Wren and her men. Sometimes she goes from dream state to reality. So you need to read it when you can really concentrate and not disturbed while reading. Cant wait to read the next book.

A dark and twisted tale, I found Born Taken to be intriguing and interesting. Reading it before starting The Broken Angels series by Penelope Woods, this prequel has me needing to know what comes next. This short glimpse into the world created in this series does a great job introducing the reader to the characters and their points of view. I am anxious to see what awaits me in the next book.
WOW!! THIS DARK, TWISTED, STEAMY TALE HAD MY ATTENTION FROM THE START. I WAS SO ENGROSSED WITH THE BOOK I ACTUALLY LOST TRACK OF TIME. DEFINITELY NOT A GOOD THING TO DO WHEN YOU HAVE A MEETING TO ATTEND LOL!!!! THEN AGAIN PERFECT IF YOU ARE BORED AT THE MEETING!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK IF YOU ARE INTO THIS GENRE !!!!!

I went into this hoping to get any answers about book 1. This book also had "same names as the most famous Omegaverse author" problem - making me believe parts of this was also stolen/copied from that book too.
It seems all the good reviews were from review sites - so I guess if you can put money into ads and review sites, you can sell crap to people for fast money.
At least this seemed a little better at the editing.
The story weaves in and out of Wren’s consciousness, alerting you that what you read may or may not be her reality. Meanwhile, main characters are introduced and will draw you in and give you an inkling of what is to come.
------------------------------------------------ EDITED ON January 31, 2019: Please note that the name "Wren" used in my review was the name of the female Omega in the ARC I had received from Booksprout, for both ARCs entitled Born Taken and Born Captive. I am now aware that the author has since changed her name to "Rae."
With regards to other names such as "Precious" and "Severin," they cannot help but bring up two movie series I rewatch every year with my family.
This prequel was strange. It was quite short and I should have been able to read it pretty fast, but I had some difficulty understanding it at times. The wording just didn't seem to flow of mesh well together. I did have to go back a couple times to re read. However, I am still intrigued.

This store is really interesting its something that you have to read the books in the set. Mom is needing a new body, and a female that they say has 300 uterus. The one brother is evil and the other one is sweet.

Dark and dank This prequel is short so only takes a couple of hours to read. I’m confused about a few things that I’m sure shall al be made clear as I progress through the series. Women have no rights or life in this future, but then the men seem to have a miserable time also! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed the snippet into the Broken Angel Series. Some of the details are a bit too much on violence and sexual violence, but it consists with the author's forewarning at the beginning of the book. I am looking forwarding to reading the next book.

This is my first read by this author so I wasn't sure what to expect. It is quick to read, but hard to comprehend at first, as you aren't sure whether what is happening is in Wren's mind or if it's reality. It was a great introduction to the main characters of the book and I can't wait to see where she takes this story!!
Well this book starts this series off well. I am looking forwards to the next book. This book is about a chick who is fertile in a time where most females are not. Unfortunately for her she has be held against her will... but she is not aware of her surrounding and stuck dreaming about the tourment that is yet it come.

An interesting start to a series, a bit confusing and opaque, but well chosen as an appetizer to continue with #1 Born Captive. You want to know what's going on here. Chaotic und an appetiser into a Series - the gaps will maybe be filled in book #1. It’s more like a summary of moments without a flow. I’m not sure if I liked it or not.
⭐️⭐️️⭐️ 3 stars with an increasing tendency, there could be more...
She was innocent until he came along. She would be his for ever as that is what he wants . Her life is going to be what he wanted when he wanted. Can she escape? Will he even allow it? See what she is about to go through

This story is a chore to read. The world building is so absurdly lacking that I can't grasp any meaningful concepts at 51% in. I don't understand what is going on more than half of the time. The grammar needs work. Just because it's stated that characters "should" do something, doesn't mean they did. That's annoying. It's choppy and incoherent at times.
All the characters are psychologically wounded and feral. Basically "Lord of the Flies" minus the innocence of childish ignorance. A book of the world ruled by the worst of beings and no knowledge of that glue of respect that holds things together.
I had a whole tirade about why this book is trash, but I don't even really want to think about this book anymore. Just know the sex scenes are trash and physically impossible (almost like the author has never had sex before). The world-building and characters arc is just horrible. The work itself as a whole is confusing and a pain to read.
Dark. Alpha\Omegaverse. Rh. Novella. A bit confusing at first but then you realise it a dream so that cleared up. Like a novella always does(to me at least), it's more of a teaser than anything. A quick introduced to characters and plot. It does have promise.
Talk about a creepy dark world. This prequel takes you thru a dark time that is so bizarre you have to read more. A world of dreams and omega breeding that is so far off the realm of reality.
