Moving, funny devotions crafted for every day by moms who know the drill
When women take on the role of mom, they take on a hundred other titles as well: healer, comforter, chef, teacher, cheerleader--and less flattering jobs such as disciplinarian, ruiner of fun times, and chief worrier. In the middle of juggling all those roles, finding room to spend time alone seeking God can seem insurmountable.
Moms Michelle Medlock Adams and Bethany Jett understand the struggles--and the joys. They've pulled together their own experiences with the crazy world of parenting as well as the most requested, most talked about topics on mommy blogs. Their research nailed down what moms really want to talk about.
They Call Me Mom is a lighthearted, transparent take on the real-life ups and downs mothers face through all stages of parenting. Whether mom just brought home her first baby or she has several kids and zero time, she'll find relatable words and helpful encouragement in these pages. And with one devotion for every week of the year, it's easy to fit in a few minutes with God in the middle of a full parenting life.

Calling all moms! Get this book or tell a friend to buy it for you. Who doesn't need an encouraging word every week of the year? Bethany Jett and Michelle Medlock Adams blend their writing and perspectives seamlessly to share real-world ways to live a life of faith. This would make a wonderful gift book for a mom of any age.
Thank you, Michelle and Bethany, for capturing every feeling I've ever had as a mom! With a different "hat" or moniker for each week's devotion, this book really does cover it all! I most likely won't read the book in order, because the titles of each chapter are so great that I can glance at the list and think, "Oh, that is SO me today!" In the "They call me memory maker" chapter, in about the middle of the book, I felt so affirmed with the authors' words: "usually the small ways we make our babies feel special stay in their hearts and minds the most." I loved some of the cute celebrations the authors shared with their kids and the simple, yet meaningful quality moments they shared with their families. I can already tell this book will have something to offer me on those days when I'm just plain giddy about being a mom, those days when I'm irritated with momly duties, those days when I'm shedding tears (happy and sad) about the journey, and anything and everything in-between! Moms (and grandmommies, like me) - you'll absolutely love this affirming and encouraging devotional!
They Call Me Mom is a beautiful devotional for moms. Michelle and Bethany have captured the identity and calling of motherhood in this little devotional. This book covers every topic and season of motherhood. The titles of these devotionals are great and allow each woman to identify with the readings. While I am not a mother yet, I certainly am able to see my mother through the lens of this devotional. I am so thankful and grateful for this devotional for it has given me an even greater appreciation for my mom. I am also excited and thankful for when the season of motherhood does come. This devotional is encouraging, inspiring and equipping for the reader. I am going to purchase a few of these as gifts for my friends and also my mom for Christmas! Don't miss out on this awesome devotional for the mother figure in your life.
All moms will find encouragement, strength, and inspiration as they read the stories, prayers and bible verses selected for this beautifully written devotional. The stories are honest, which means sometimes not-so-pretty, but always shared with love, humor and supported with prayer and wrapped in God's word. Some pages made me nod my head in a 'been there done, survived that' way, and other pages challenged me to move past my mistakes in into a place of strength to continue being the mom God created me to be. I recommend this book for all moms - new, old, step, etc and those that are honorary moms.
Beautiful, heartfelt and inspirational devotional. The word "Mom" can be used for many different women. From having biological children to adopting children to being a loving "substitute" Mom to children in the neighborhood and more, there are many ways to be "Mom". While reading this book, I laughed out loud at times and other times I cried, recalling my own special "Mom" moments. This is a great book to give as a gift. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
I'm very grateful for resources like this when I want to dig into God's word. These devotions are concise and warm and wise and encouraging. Definitely great for any busy mother seeking more time with God.
I remember when I found out I was pregnant with my first child. It was exciting and terrifying at the same time. I now had the honor of bringing a child into the world who would depend on me for everything. When I saw this devotional, I couldn’t wait to see what encouraging words were in the book. It has been almost twenty years since I had my last child but I will always be a mom and still stumble through saying the right words to them.
I loved at the beginning of the book when this was said, “God calls us chosen, empowered, treasured, and more than enough.” Oh how I needed to read those words. God has given us the tools we need to be a mom. This book is chocked full of examples of motherhood and helps you see the bigger picture. Each chapter is a different topic that gives us hope, fills us with truth and assures us through His Word that He is right there helping you be all you can be.
I enjoyed the chapter on “They call me calm in the chaos.” It talks about raising boys which I have three . It hasn’t been easy and they sure have been challenging at times. In all the chaos I treasure each hug, kiss, picture, and words they have given me over the years. There is nothing like having sons who adore and protect their mom. I have always told my sons that they should treat their “wives as they have treated their mom.” With those words I knew they would honor and respect their mate and keep them safe. What we strive for is to “teach them to honor women as Jesus did.”
The book is well written with scriptures and personal stories that make us smile while pouring God’s Word into our soul. Each chapter has little nuggets at the end that helps you dig deeper in the Word and reinforces what the chapter is about. I loved reading the book and it has a permanent place on my bookshelf. It is there to remind me that God gave me three amazing sons and I am honored to be their mom.
I received a copy of this book from Kregel Publishing. The review is my own opinion.
