I'm retiring my old placeholder notes for this title that were on here. I've fashioned up a better document/PDF file of this book, based on the old English translation dating from the 1990s that can still be found on the internet. There are now several bios on Elis Regina -- the late, great, incomparable Brazilian singer -- including a promising newer one, Nada Será Como Antes, but none of them, apart from Furacão Elis from 1985, published in Brazil shortly after Elis' death, have ever received any kind of translation into English. I could translate them myself if I could get hold of document, PDF, epub or Kindle-related files. I would gladly do so. Nonetheless, I'm going to give this one another shot, following an aborted attempt from a few years back. At that time, I found the book a bit dry, but now that I've watched the 2016 biopic movie, Elis, my interest in it has returned. The movie, unfortunately, was slick-looking but facile and truncated. That said, the actress who plays Elis in it, Andréia Horta, is sensational, nailing the mannerisms, speaking voice and even that very distinctive laugh that the singer had. I honestly forgot I was watching an actress and truly believed I was seeing Elis alive again in the flesh.

Elis Regina is my favorite musical artist of all time, and probably the greatest singer who ever lived, which is why I'm interested.

Vale a pena ler.
