Compassion is something we definitely need more of! This little book uses stock photos of everyday places and situations in a child's life to explain what compassion is and ways we can show compassion to others and ourselves. I like that this book emphasized that it is normal and appropriate, rather than "weak," to feel bad when others are hurting.
This series would be a nice way to introduce concepts and promote kinder attitudes for anti-bullying/humane education programs. I just wish this book would have more explicitly stated that compassion counts for animals, too. Animals are a close component of most children's lives, and showing compassion to them is just as important to the child's development as it is to the animal.
