Stories to guide you to successAwaken the hidden wisdom of your heartLive free of the seven deadly behavioral attributes that threaten to disrupt our lives! We can resolve most problems by applying the wisdom of our heart; all we have to do is listen carefully. However, in practice, a range of detrimental yet common attributes that we experience in large doses prevent us from listening to our inner voice. In The Code, author Mukta Mahajani identifies these negative attributes as the Ego, OverCompetitiveness, Jealousy, Overexpectations, Overambition, Anger and Procrastination. These attributes flare up when we face challenging situations. We explode when the world does not go our way and our relationships with others suffer as a result. Based on meaningful quotes from world leaders and revered religious texts, this book weaves short stories about the impact of these attributes. These narratives are designed to help us reset our mindset and resolve the issues we face in our daytoday life. They help us understand that we have the inherent power to make the right choice at all times. Mukta Mahajani is an author and international speaker on Alternate Dispute Resolution methods with degrees in psychology, anthropology and law. In a career spanning over 20 years, Mukta has worked with the World Bank Group where her research has been published, and also guest lectured at New York City Bar Association, Mumbai University, ICADR Hyderabad and IIT Bombay among other institutions.

I have seen many positive reviews of Mukta's previous book. My only reluctance was the self-help genre, as that is my less preferred genre, I was not sure whether I can take her book. But I played on my gut feeling and selected the book. I am glad that I said yes to the book. Because we got a hidden treasure in form of the book.

Coming to the content part, yes I am confirming this is a self-help book. but you will love the content preparation.

The book is divided into multiple small chapters. Each character starts with a wonderful quotation of a well-known personality. Then comes a short story. This story was followed by a section called "The Code" which is the psychological part or I would say self-help part of the book. Last part of these chapters cover questions for readers related to the chapter. Answers of exercising those question will help readers to learn the hidden lessons of these stories.

The last time I read such well-designed book was "Open Eyed Meditation" by Shubha Vilas. That book was also a self-help book but in disguise of mythological short stories. Similarly, Mukta has given short stories with hidden messages.

Good points about the book
1) Simple and straight stories
2) Easy to follow language. Even for starters.
3) Freedom to select your choice of chapters. You may skip or change the order in which you would like to read. As there is no strict dependency on previous chapter.
4) You may skip part of questions or "The Code" itself if you are not comfortable. Because the author has done a wonderful job covering the same in the story.

My views
When we heard about "Self-Help" a portrait of long essays comes into our mind . But thanks to the author she represented new ideas in a new way . I'm a student and I'm doing a teacher training course where I read little about psychology . From that little knowledge , I can say this book is really helpful . First of all , the short stories and then The Code. According to psychology our mind get attracted when we can feel the matter. Here in the book the short stories are nothing but some incidents which we can relate easily .

If you really want your life to take a new turn towards positive pathway pick this book up !
  it's definatly a 5/5 read !

Thank you Jaico Books for sendin me this amazing book !!

The 3rd book of the year which I picked up to read was again from my favorite publication house, Jaico, named “The Code” written by one of the prominent authors, Mukta Mahajani. The book also has the tagline of “Awake the hidden wisdom of your heart”. I have always hated reading any kind of short stories- either fictional or non-fictional. It has been on very rare occasions when I have liked a book consisting of short stories. This book gets into this rare shelf of my book consisting of my favorite books featuring short stories. Authoress has divided the book into few prime parts such as Conquering the Ego, Controlling Over-competitiveness, Mastering Overexpectations, Overcoming Jealousy, Curbing Overambition, Taming Anger and Beating Procrastination.

Each of these parts have several stories proving us why we need to follow a certain pattern in our life which can awaken the hidden wisdom of our heart. After every story, authoress has shared a paragraph referring it as “THE CODE” which is such a gem that I wanted to click each one of them and get it framed. Before this, it has only been in the case of Robin Sharma’s books and few other couple of authors where I have found every chapter or paragraph as gem. The questions on which authoress wants us to contemplate has been shared after each chapter which is such an introspective session that you would find it very hard to answer those questions and the moment you find an answer for that, you would understand the power of the story and “the code” shared just before those questions.

The book provides wonderful insight on the personal and professional life. What I liked about the stories shared by the authoress is that all of them are so unique and distinct that you will never get bored of reading them even in one single sitting. I took 5 stories each day and I must say many of those have got ingrained in my mind and personality. Another good thing that I need to mention is the quotes that authoress has mentioned before beginning of every story. How wonderful those quotes are that I just want to remember all of them and keep them with myself just like “the codes”. Overall, this is one of the rare books where I liked almost all the chapters. I would rate this book 4.75* out of 5. Highly recommended! Mukta, I am fan from today onwards.

As in the Obstacle is the way, Mukta Mahajani delivers practical and inspiring philosophy, this time exploring a powerful concept that runs back centuries, across borders and schools of thought: Ego. Ego as our negative attribute and is also our biggest enemy. Early in our careers, it can prevent us from learning and developing our talents. When we taste success, ego can blind us to our own faults, alienate us from others and lead to our downfall. In failure, ego is devastating and makes recovery all the more difficult. It is only by identifying our ego, speaking to its desires and systematically disarming it that we can create our best work. Organised into bite-sized observations featuring characters and narratives that illustrate themes and life lessons designed to resonate, uplift and inspire, Ego is the Enemy shows how you can be humble in your aspirations, gracious in your success and resilient in your failures. It is an inspiring and timely reminder that humility and confidence are still our greatest friends when confronting the challenges of a culture which tends to fan the flames of ego and encourage the cult of personality at all costs.

We give up too easily. With a simple change of attitude, what seem like insurmountable obstacles become once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. showing that what blocks our path actually opens one that is new and better. If the competition threatens you, it's time to be fearless, to display your courage. An impossible deadline becomes a chance to show how dedicated you are.

Herein are a few salient and solemn Teachings of Mukta Mahajani. These sacred teachings were culled from the talks and works published by Jaico Books. They are all in her own words.

I am requesting all of you, Please go through this book , this book contain teachings from experimented life lessons.

We often find that it is difficult to be honest with our own self. True effective Introspection is not a quality that many of us posses. The Code: Awaken the hidden wisdom of your heart by Mukta Mahajani propels you to look deeper into yourself. Starting out from common negative attributes that hinder growth, the book leads us to a path of self-discovery.

What makes The Code a book that is impactful in what it promises to deliver? I think it’s a mix of several factors. The book is divided into seven key sections that talk about seven negative attributes that we need to conquer, such as Ego, Over-Competitiveness, Jealousy, Over expectations, Over ambition, Anger and Procrastination. Within each section there are several stories and examples that drive home the point the author is trying to make. The text is also peppered with quotes from various personalities and thinkers. The key point itself, that is, ‘the code’ is boxed and presented in a very accessible manner.
