Two pending divorces. Two cowardly deceptions. Two couples still in love.Andrea (Andi) and Drew Stevens are awaiting the finalization of their divorce.Drew is a Christian. He disapproves of divorce. And he still loves Andi no matter how unlovable she’s grown. Andi is a Christian, too. But she believes she’s grown unworthy of Drew’s love. And she refuses to explain her insistence on divorce.Drew’s new best friend, BJ Diaz, has her heart set on marrying him eventually. As a non-Christian, however, she detests his unwillingness to date or do anything that looks even vaguely improper while he’s still married.Drew and Andi’s former best friends, Heather and Jonathon Hunt, are also divorcing. But the two couples are afraid to tell one another. So when the Hunts visit the Stevens, each couple puts on a very complicated “still happily married” act to keep the other from learning the truth.Determined to prevent Drew from being deluded into thinking the charade might solve his problems with Andi—and mess up her own plans—BJ comes to work for Andi during the Hunts’ visit to keep a close eye on their interaction.Andi’s ancient, widowed neighbor, Merry Pleasants, disapproves of divorce. She’s not simply a divorce court employee who has more control over the Stevens’ case than her job description would indicate, she’s also a Neighborhood Watch of one who monitors everyone’s comings and goings from her window. And she’s determined to throw a monkey wrench into Drew and Andi’s divorce. Can this story end happily for Andi and Drew Stevens, Heather and Jonathan Hunt, BJ Diaz—and even old Mrs. Merry Pleasants?

Roger E. Bruner

Former English teacher, job counselor/interviewer, and programmer/analyst. Retired at 62 to write full-time.

Roger can't decide which genre he prefers. He's written speculative fiction, contemporary women's fiction, and novels for teens. His current interest is fiction for and about senior adults. All of his twenty-four novels are Christian, however, and are free from objectionable language, sexual content, and gratuitous violence.

Roger plays bass on his church praise team and guitar at a weekly nursing home ministry. He has also been on mission trips to Australia, England, Wales, Romania, and Nicaragua.

At 78 he's still in pretty good health, but stays home a lot more than he used to. He enjoys reading, walking, photography, writing music and recording his own songs at home, and playing Quidler with his delightful wife, Kathleen.

3.5 stars - This was my first time reading this author, and now that I'm done with the book I realized his style reminds me of Chautona Havig's - funny, quirky, a little too wordy sometimes, but overall enjoyable and with a strong Christian message. The nosy lady's behavior was just too over the top for me, but otherwise I enjoyed this story. The one thing that I found objectionable was his mentioning - completely irrelevantly to the story - that the main couple loved Harry Potter and talked their church librarian into adding HP books to the church library. Coincidentally, today I was just watching a video done by 3 women who were formerly into New Age and the occult and now Christians, and they were discussing how Christians just think magic and sorcery and all these other things are entertaining and don't consider just how serious God is about His people NOT participating in them - He considers it rebellion and an abomination, actually. So Mr. Bruner might want to reconsider frivolously mentioning something like that in his otherwise Christian books.

A quirky romance well worth reading. Even Christian couples are not without serious problems that can lead to divorce, even if adultery is not to blame. But God is sovereign. In this well-written, and witty treatment, Bruner tells a truthful tale, though fiction, of two couples and a fifth wheel that become entangled in a web of deceit ... well-intentioned of course. Hilarious. I recommend this book.

A funny tale of reconciliation. This book was entertaining from beginning to end. I think I chuckled on every page. In addition there were cliches, living life according to the bible and a bit of romance with some surprising confessions thrown in the mix. I highly recommend this book if you are in the mood to laugh.

This book is a hard one for me to review because it isn't my style. However, if you like romantic comedy with a good message, then this might be perfect for you. It is a kind of spoof/farce and so irritated me.
But I have to admit it is really well written. Bruner's writing has improved out of sight.

A fun Read!

Just finished Roger E. Bruner's Do I Ever. What a fun comedy! The storyline was interesting as two couples try to hide their close divorces from each other. Good message weaved into storyline about marriages. Full of humor and mishaps! Enjoyable read!

A very intriguing Story with Christian values

I really liked the story. There were times I just wished we could get to the ending, but also enjoyed the events taking place along the way. Loved the ending.
