Ummmmm. I really love baseball. Spring training has begun which makes this the perfect week to tell you about this book, Falling for Centerfield. It's part of a series, each book written by a different author, but the characters are all intertwined. I would say that each book can stand on it's own and you don't have to read them in any particular order, but you might be happier if you do follow them in order.
This book had lots of yummy chemistry, some great kissing scenes and a lot of misunderstanding and drama. There were moments I wanted to strangle both Cole and Harlow for different reasons. Mostly I understood Harlow's frustrations with Cole- he could really be a dunderhead but then he would do or say something so sweet and then- swoon. He was almost making me crazy. ha. I loved Harlow's fire, her passion and yes, even her heckling. She really gave it to Cole. From the stands. During a game. hahahahahahahaha 😂
I really enjoyed this one. It made me smile a lot. I can't wait for the next book!! Bring on the baseball!!
This book releases on March 5th and will be on Kindle Unlimited!

Cole Hunter, the Centerfielder, is part of the Belltown Six Pack #belltownsixpack--friends who played baseball together at Belltown University and were all drafted into MLB teams at the same time. He loves working with the kids at the Beacon of Hope Children's Center, and his "alter ego" Big Dawg is a hit with the fans, especially the ladies, but Cole has a secret.
Harlow Ember, worked at the Belltown University paper during college and still covers events the Belltown Six Pack attend, which is how she crosses paths with Cole. Harlow is still getting over the cheating football player she was involved with in college, and wants to focus on work, especially the Seneca Falls Women's Conference. Her heart can't afford to get involved with someone like Cole Hunter, who has a different woman on his arm at every event.
These two had sparks from the beginning when he roped her into playing dodgeball with the kids. I loved how swoony and sweet Cole could be, but then he'd put on his signature sunglasses, turn into Big Dawg and do something stupid. There's a reason he turns into Big Dawg and Harlow needs to find out what it is. I love when Cole calls Harlow "Bonfire", because when she's riled up she's like a bonfire. She's falling for Cole but when he puts on the Big Dawg persona it reminds her why she can't allow herself to fall for another jock.
I loved Cole's relationship with his parents--how caring he was. One of my favorite parts was when Harlow dressed in a jersey with his sunglasses and did his signature Big Dawg dance for the dodge ball rematch fundraiser. #littledawg There was so much great chemistry between them if they'd just have a big discussion and work out all the misunderstandings--men can be such blockheads. I was not a fan of the team's owner--what a jerk!
This is the second in the Belltown Six Pack series. They can each stand alone and be read in any order. I received a complimentary copy and my review expresses my own opinions about the book.
Amazing characterization! The author does a great job of getting the reader in the head of Cole, who is both a showman and athlete. He's the type of guy that it's easy to swoon over, but I would never want to actually deal with the ego in a relationship. I loved that we got to see the deeper parts of Cole- what drives him, where he's vulnerable, and how he deals with his struggles. Harlow is strong, and her college friendship with the men of the Belltown Six Pack puts her in a unique position to challenge Cole in ways no other woman has. Their relationship has such a shifting dynamic, and my favorite parts are when they are both loose and relaxed, having fun together and being real. There are a lot of things standing in their way, and they have quite a journey to navigate. I most admired that Cole wouldn't give up on Harlow, and even when they felt betrayed by each other, they could see past the facade to the real person deep inside. Great contemporary romance, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
(I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions in this review are my own)
At another time the story would have driven me crazy but when I opened it up I knew it would be silly so I had low expectations. I actually enjoyed it but it did have some issues for me. The writing was good but the story line and characters had issues. A reporter for a collage who is a woman's advocate for woman would never in a million years fall for a guy who has his own dance, wears sunglasses everywhere and who constantly has woman draped all over him. It just would not fly. Mrs. Summers does a good job of making this all work but in reality I am not sure these two could ever over come there differences. This is a clean romance with a bit of kissing.
Harlow Ember and Cole made this book a fun read. I'm really enjoying this Belltown Six Pack baseball series. It's been fun to see the different characters crossing over into the other books and the friendship that they share with each other.
Harlow, aka Bonfire, had me laughing so hard several times throughout this book. I giggled and laughed and most definitely shook my head at some of her antics.
Cole, aka Big Dawg, definitely had me shaking my head a lot more than Harlow did. There were moments that I loved his character. Then there were moments that I just wanted to reach into the book and shake some sense into him. Ha! Anybody else feel that way? He had some pressure on his shoulders and I can see why he acted the way he did sometimes. But other times grrrrrrrr...and then other times I wanted to cheer, "Go Big Dawg!!!!!"
But I think I really enjoyed this book because Bonfire was the spark that was able to get out there are shake Cole up and keep him in line. Their banter was a blast to read about. And their chemistry was very well written.
I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series. All you baseball lovers get you some popcorn, a hot dog and maybe a soda, grab this book and sit down to enjoy! Better yet, grab the first one as well. ;-)
Content: Clean. Cole does hang out in clubs for publicity and so there is some talk about that type of location.
I received a copy from the book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions in the book are my own.
What do you do when life throws you a curveball and you do not even see it coming? Especially when that curveball is the gorgeous reporter Harlow Ember. Falling for Centerfield is a fun-loving story of love, trust, and just enough flirting and eye candy to keep things interesting.
I loved all the characters in this book! Harlow is strong and independent. She knows what she wants but is willing to put aside her ambitions and dreams for her employer. She cannot help but love Cole. Who can?! He is quite the catch and quite the flirt. I really enjoyed watching them discover who they really are and grow together.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more about the Belltown Six Pack. This book is clean and fun. If you love baseball this is the one for you!
*Please note I received a complementary copy of this book. I am under not obligation to leave a review and all opinions expressed are my own.
I really enjoyed this book! He is a big baseball star who milks it for all it's worth. She is a reporter and needs to write about him and what he is doing for charity. He gives her some shades like he wears so she starts mocking him and his moves and the crowds love it. A really entertaining book! I recommend this book to anyone who likes romance books!
Things are not always what they appear. Publicity seeking people will do or say anything to get attention! Meeting again after several years since graduating the same college, Harlow and Cole are forced to work together. Will sparks fly or will history get in the way? An easy read leaving you wanting more.
These #BellTownSixPack boys have my heart. I love reading about each member of the former college team and their road to love, as well as seeing where their baseball experiences have led them. I especially love watching them make appearances in each other's stories.
Cole is not only a Major League Baseball player, he's also a major league player, with a different woman on his arm at every turn. I love how his signature sunglasses play such a symbolic role in revealing (or hiding) who he truly is.
Harlow is a little jock-shy after being burned in the past, but the undeniable attraction she feels towards Cole thrusts her into his charms time and time again.
With a lot of give (making out) and take (misunderstandings galore), this couple's story is entertaining and charming, especially once the heart is uncovered.
Content: mild, swoony romance

This book is really a lot of fun! I loved the chemistry between Harlow and Cole in this one from the very start. There were parts where I didn’t like Cole. But more on that later. All in all this one’s great!
Harlow Ember is a journalist. She went to Belltown University at the same time as the Six Pack. She knew all of them. Now she’s assigned to cover their lives for the newspaper. I loved how that gave her access to Cole that no one else ever got. Harlow is a bit of a spitfire, especially when she’s around Cole. That part of the book was so much fun! I really loved the whole #hecklerharlow thing that goes on in this book. You’d better read it to find out why!
Cole…when Cole was being himself I really liked him. When he was being “Big Dawg” I thought he was really self absorbed and not kind. It seemed like Harlow had a bit of a hard time with this too. While she was able to joke around and be “Little Dawg” through part of it, when anything was really important she wanted Cole to be just Cole. This is I’m sure what the author intended with this character, so it actually works really well for the plot.
I liked the plot. There were so many fun baseball parts. And there were beautiful romantic parts. There were also some parts that were just sad. Those parts were all balanced out by the funny parts. I loved just how many funny parts were in this one. This book really has it all. And it’s so well done!
If you love contemporary romance, with or without sports references, you’ll love this one!
Finished Falling for Centerfield after discovering Sophia Summers a few weeks ago. Of course I loved the second in the series. I really enjoy when the story continues and you get to learn about all of the friends in the group. I especially enjoyed that he was a little nervous around her and he had to work up the courage to speak up and follow his heart. There was a twist and found it different than the other 98% of books out there. I look forward to reading more in the series and also from the authors who are participating in the story. So sweet that is not full of fillers that are not necessary to gain my attention. I jumped in with both feet and really loved this one.
Love the characters of Harlow and Cole. The dynamic between the two of them is so palpable that it jumps off the page at you. Can't wait to read more about the Six Pack!
This is the second book in the Belltown Six Pack series. This group of baseball players is so fun, and they have such a great friendship. I'm excited to see each of them find love. This time, it was Cole's turn.
I loved Cole!...when he was being himself. When he put on his Big Dawg persona, he could be a bit of an idiot sometimes. However, the insecurity that brought that on was endearing and real. I loved watching him with the children, his family, the Six Pack, and, of course, with Harlow, where the chemistry was off the charts. The competitiveness between Harlow and Cole added a lot of fun to the story. There were misunderstandings and frustrations, but oh, was there ever great romance, too!
I received a complimentary copy of the book, which I voluntarily reviewed. I have given my honest opinion.
Where both main characters have past issues that must be overcome, but those issues not only make them stronger but reaching out to better others and themselves.
Delightful to see the humor, sorry for the struggles and misunderstandings but great to see what comes of it all.
The fears and pasts of the main characters lead them on their path toward their HEA. The interaction with the other members of the team is outstanding and will lead to amazing additions to this series.
I really enjoyed this second story of the series. I really loved all of the characters, especially Cole and Harlow. They had great chemistry. This is a sweet, clean romance.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. You can tell immediately that Cole and Harlow were meant to be together. A few times I found myself reading faster to find out what was going to happen between these two. I loved his interest in women's rights, children, particularly his relationship with his father. I teared up a few times over the misunderstanding and problems both of them had. i laughed out loud at other times. I highly recommend this book.
Cole "Big Dawg" Hunter is enjoying life in the big leagues--he loves the game and all that comes with it--the fast cars, the fans, and the attention. Harlow Ember has been burned by an athlete in the past, and she knows her attraction to Cole is dangerous. But as a reporter who has been assigned to cover his career, as well as that of rest of the Belltown Six, who were all drafted from Belltown in the same year, Harlow can't exactly avoid him. And the more she spends time with him, the more confused she gets. While he has his obnoxious moments, lapping up the attention from beautiful women, he also has really sweet aspects, like his concern for kids in foster care and his support of women's rights. He's also totally hot, and while Harlow knows she's attracted, she doesn't know if she can trust him. Cole knows Harlow is different from other women--and he knows he feels differently about her than he ever has about anyone, but he doesn't know how to win her over, especially when the owner of his team is pushing him away from Harlow.
I really liked the chemistry between Cole and Harlow, and I think the author did a good job showing the competing facets of Cole's personality, which made him both endearing and annoying. I could feel myself right there with Harlow being aggravated by him when he'd do something boneheaded right after doing something sweet. I think it would be tough to write a character like Cole, but Sophia Summers pulled it off, because as frustrating as he could be, I couldn't help wanting him to get it together and be able to win Harlow's heart (whereas if he hadn't been well-written, I would have just wanted Harlow to move on and find someone else). Harlow was also well-written; she totally reminds me of people I know (myself about 15 years ago among them), being drawn in by someone she cares for but can't totally trust, both because of his own actions and because of how she's been treated in the past. I thought she was very realistically written. I also really enjoyed when she would heckle Cole and give him a little bit of a hard time.
Although this is the second book in a series, each book is a stand-alone, so you don't have to read them in order. I'm looking forward to the next Belltown book!
I read an ARC provided by the author/publisher. All opinions are my own.
Falling for Centerfield is the second installment from the Belltown Six Pack series. This quick read is so delightful. I loved the scenes with Cole and Harlow. Those two made the story fun, sweet and romantic. I give Falling for Centerfield four and a half stars. I am looking forward to reading the other books from the Belltown Six Pack series. Great read that I would recommend. I received this book from the publisher, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
I don't typically read sports romance books, but I did like reading this one. This story introduced the Belltown Six pack athletes who we will see in future books. I liked the main characters-Cole, his dad, and Harlow. It was fun to read their banter and obvious chemistry, but sometimes their back and forth irritated me when all they needed to do was to be honest with each other.
The story line was good and kept my interest but sports romance book aren't really my favorite so I probably won't be reading more of the series. The author did a great job though with the character development and keeping the story interesting; so if you enjoy sports-especially baseball-I'm sure you will like this clean romance!
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
This book is part of a new series with two other authors around a baseball group called by the Belltown six pack. Six baseball players that all make the big leagues after playing together in college. This story is about Cole (center fielder) and Harlow. Harlow is a journalist for a local paper and press liaison for Belltown University. Cole has known her since his Belltown days as they went to school together. Cole has always been a bit tongue tied around Cole and Harlow has always felt like she was below the notice of the Belltown six. She has hurts from her past. He has secrets. Can they find understanding and acceptance of each other? Or will their pasts and secrets keep them from giving their chance at love a real opportunity? This is a clean, sweet, HEA. The characters at times are lovable. At times I wanted to smack them both. But over all I really enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more of Sophia’s books
Romance, clean; Series but stand alone read This was more of a 3.5 for me as a reader. I loved Cole and Harley's story. They were finding each other in their worlds and trying to mesh the two together. As they fell for each other, the obstacles seemed to keep coming. Heartfelt, emotional, moments of tragedy and hurt. The interplay between the games, the players, the fans, the owners, but especially between Harley and Cole were so real and heartfelt. Just trying to figure out who they were with each other, figuring out their careers, and figuring out most importantly where their future lay. Loved the fans, the moments they had with each other. Of course, the six-pack moments were fun too. Fun series! Can't wait to read the next one!
This was one of those cute fun books that's great on a summer day. Each book in the series is written by a different author but the two books I've read so far seem to work. Cole is a major league baseball player that's full of himself. Along comes Harlow, the reporter, to bring him down several notches. The characters were likeable and I enjoyed the intensity of the relationship. Harlow heckling Cole during games had me laughing out-loud. You can't go wrong with this fun romance.
She's a journalist and he's a pro baseball player so what do they have in common? They both believe in making the world a better place but can they make a world where they belong together? Sweet and clean romance.
I received an ARC for a honest review. This fell short of my expectations. I read the first book in the Belltown Six Pack series: Hitching the Pitcher and found it very enjoyable, but I cannot say the same for Falling for Centerfield.
While I believe the plot is probably good, I couldn’t get beyond chapter 5 due to poor sentence structure, word usage, and unrealistic imagery. Within the first 5 chapters, I had to stop twice to reread certain paragraphs in hopes of gaining sentence clarity.
I realize ARCs usually have proofing errors and have not been through their final edit, but this particular edition to the series has more than I would consider sustainable to read.
I have read other books by this author under her pen name. I am left to believe she has a better hand with regency/historical fiction genre.
I plan to read the others in the series if given ARCs.
This one made me feel kind of icky. Not that it’s dirty, but it was just off. I despised both main characters. She’s all for strong women, but she’s incredibly weak. He’s just an arse. No thanks. I’ll try the next, just because the first was okay.
Didn’t love this one as much as #1. I found Harlow and Cole infuriating with how much they misunderstood each other. Also I couldn’t stand Cole’s playboy persona.
This second entry into the Belltown Six-pack series was very enjoyable. I related to Big-Dawg wearing a "persona" to project an image. Harlow is a journalist who was at school with the 6-Pack and now works for both the University and the local paper. They each are attracted to the other, but both have issues and blind spots, as well. Seeing how they grow and learn from each other makes the inevitable HEA grand. Slight spoiler - my one disappointment is that they don't deal with or even mention the very small odds of beating pancreatic cancer. Other than that, a very enjoyable book that I highly recommend even if you know nothing about baseball, like me.
