I didn’t like this book. Finishing it was hard. Why is his work always so preachy.
Also, whatever this is, it isn’t poetry. This is just prose with broken lines to make the writing look like a poem. Smh...

Open eyes

Their unloving words,
Their sharp tongue,
Their suspicious behaviors,
Their ill competition,
How they hold on to their misunderstanding,
How they emotionally scar you,
How they mislead your mind,
The way they motivate your insecurities,
The way they stab you in the back in front of you,
The way their presence feels like mourning,

... is their way of telling you they don't love you.

You must listen.

A perfect re-read! I read this book back in 2020 when I was going through the darkest times of my life and how after 3years reading this book will feel so different is what I experienced rn!!!! This book healed me then ,gave me courage and hope to keep going despite the storm and now I was just enjoying it and experiencing a different feeling after reading some poems as compared to before.

Watering your soil is literally about watering your soul; in the sense of pouring into yourself, & making sure that what you’re giving into others is also what you are receiving or making sure you are pouring entirely into yourself, making time for yourself, and noticing what relationships are worth growing with you

Book 59/55: Watering your soil by Pierre Alex Jeanty. I was scrolling through Facebook when this free poetry crossed my path and interrupted my thoughts. A poem collection inspiring one on on their own spiritual journey and it couldn't have come at a better time. It was a sign in itself. I needed the step back to read some poetry, it nourishes the soul and filled my heart with joy.

This was an extremely quick read and a fun one. It’s written in verses given that it’s a poetry book and this would be my third poetry book I’ve read and by far one of the best. There are many ways you can approach poetry but this author chose to do it very technically and expressed what he wanted by using specific words that describe a lot. The entire book is about self help and how to lift yourself up from failure. There were a few pieces that I absolutely loved and thought it made so much sense. The few pieces of artwork in it were amazing as well. I really liked that throughout the book, the author stayed close to the theme about helping yourself and making connections to nature. Some poems in it were however good but a little bland. Some were too technical and made me not want to analyze the poems and find the deeper meaning. And some poems were blatantly obvious what it’s trying to express and the idea it was trying to express was really common and unauthentic. But the message the author was trying to convey is an extremely good one. This is a motivational collection of poetry that utilizes hurtful comments to uplift each other. Something that is hard to write and hard to make it work but the author did make it work.

So I was just exhausted from studying for my exams and then I just picked up Watering Your Soil and felt this sense of calm come over my mind. I've been sleep deprived for a week now but reading her poems about self love I hope I can get a good sleep tonight. The poems were so subtle and beautiful. Loved it!

Who matters
Make memories with the people who will miss you when you’re alive not just when you’re gone
The people who will call you not only when they are in need.
Those who will spend days with you, not just nights of entertainment.
Those who will carry your deepest secrets and be loud about celebrating your achievements.
Those who become family, the siblings you never had.
Capture moments with the people who love you, continue making memories with you.
Our biggest mistake is that we believe feelings visit us as they please, we believe we fall for whoever cupid targeted without our doing.
The truth is quite the opposite, those feelings come for people we invest time in, people we share our days with, conversations with, people whom our eyes have learned to find satisfying.
It is why we develop feelings for them, we allow connections to subconsciously form without any intent in mind.
We do not just catch feelings, we catch moments, we let people catch our attention and that gives feelings invitation to catch us.
Love hard
This powerful love you carry,
that love is waiting to make someone else become at ease and smile, the one waiting to paint over the ugly experiences, the one looking to give new meaning to their heart.
Hold on to that love, it is pure, it is honest, it is selfless.
It will not be abuse when it meets the heart that can handle it.
The solution is never to stop loving hard, but to be wise about who you share that love with.
Artificial flowers don’t grow
People who tell you love is easy, a bouquet of beautiful flowers that never dies are liars.
They are selling you a watered-down version of something beautiful.
Love needs water from the storms, needs sunshine of our burning sun, it needs renewal from winter.
It is not as easy as being in love, it is as easy as fighting for what you believe despite what comes along.
Trade your time for connection more than you trade it for possessions.
Explore
Take yourself into new places,
different scenes with different routines. Allow your heart to meet new souls,
your ears to listen to new stories.
Open your mind to new friendships.
Life is always better with the right people. We are not meant to thrive alone.
Care for you
In in the end, you are all you got.
Your flesh will always be your first home, learn to love and appreciate it.
Your eyes will always be the doorway to your visions, see beyond them.
Your mind will always be your first kingdom to reign, guard it, protect it and build unto it.
Your heart will always be the first place you get direction from, make sure it is in the right place. You are all you got,
Never stop looking for a better you.
Pour love into your soil,
plant faith into it,
water it with your thirst for more,
feed it with your hunger for change,
fertilize it care,
let it grow roots that will hold you through the storms,
let it soak in the sun,
let it grow in patience,
You are a tree,
Take time to water yourself

Always be a poet, even in prose. ~Charles Baudelaire
The book consists of deep sentiment of all living in this word. Each and every poem and proes help to get-up with full determination and confidence to fight with rivals, world and particularly with own self. Light and easy vocabulary used by the author that make his collection of poems subtly beautiful and understood for all. The poems create sense of calmness for reader to take his/her life in comprehensively to these poems.
I can firmly say these poems are related to everyone's life and create link with their daily chores.
These poems give reader a comfort for relaxation of mind. Author tried to linked a normal human being with God and i love the poem which he has shared in the book is "chasing Perfect" we always tried to be perfect and lost many important things in the pursuit of perfection. We lost our relationships, our real life goals and honesty far away in this pursuit. But he tried to endorse us that we should be stick to "my self" whatever I'm no matters for anyone its only the fight of our mind to be perfect. Perfection only suitable to God and we should leave it for Him only.
The second poem i love the most is "who matters" in which author tried to explain to his readers that instead of crying for those who forget you after entertainment or after spending quality time with you. Just remember those who are sincere to you and be with you through your thick and thin. If you will expect little, you will not be hurt and if you will be successful in segregation of these two type of friends. It will give you comfort, relaxation and happiness in life, you can remember all those moments you spent with these sincere ones, you should choose them as important as your family, sibiling near n dear ones, these people will behave like your family and will never leave you on mercy of the time.
There are many more you can read it from the book. Everyone's choice may vary from mine in choosing the best ...
Recommended to all who wait, who overthink, who want to live in this world full of hypocrites and troubles.

This book came at a time in my life when I doubted not only myself but the world around me. Mr. Pierre’s poetry is like a slow song and dance that you never want to end. The words seem like a whisper from the creator. It gave me self-assurance that I didn’t know that I needed. How is it possible that a person that doesn’t know you can speak from your heart? I am unsure however he definitely did. This book of poems are a step by step guide to rising up against whatever the world my try to take you down with. “Own You” was an ode to my existence. “You must own your peace, You must coach your emotions, You must lead your feelings, You must happen to life instead allowing life to happen to you. You must guard your happiness, own the key to your smile, belong to the best version of you. When you own you, it doesn’t matter what like sends your way. You’ll always navigate yourself through it. Every friend needs a Pierre.

I think this was just what I needed. Fantastic inspirational poetry. It's my first time reading Pierre Alex Jeanty, and I am not disappointed. I received a free e-book from Instagram, I think he might still be offering a free copy if anyone is interested. www.wateringyoursoil.com : just a note, this was not solicited, I just saw him pop up in my feed on Instagram and saw the opportunity for a free book. I am not being be paid to promote it or review it, I gave it five stars because I did truly enjoy the book, the poetry just made me feel happy, and was just refreshing. I'm in a little bit of a slump and like I said, I just needed this. So far I have only found it in e-book form but I hope this will be available in a physical copy. I would love to have it grace my shelves and love to add a physical copy to my poetry collection.

"When you are sinking,
sink with the ocean,
let it introduce you to the beautiful parts in its depth."

A pretty neat collection of affirming poems that one can opt for in their darkest of times. Even though this collection was something I didn't need right now, I can think of times I could've appreciated this even more because it contains poems everyone needs to hear once a while. I have been following Pierre Jeanty's works for nearly 6 years now and that's how I got this free e-book a while ago, thanks to the author! This is something I would suggest to someone who isn't in a good place right now and is looking for good affirming poetry read.

The content of the poems was amazing. I had several lines that I loved. My only critique is that I think some of the poems could’ve used a little help on the layout of them, but overall I really loved it. I definitely want to read more by this author.
