Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.
Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.
Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.
The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.
I rate this book 5 stars because it is funny and interesting. It is funny because Nick Wilde said that he had a friend that was super fast but he was a sloth. It was interesting because Judy and Nick didn't know that Mayor bellwether was the one who was darting all the animals so they can go savage.
This was a re-read and I loved it so much!!!! Zootopia is one of my favorite movies and when I found out that there was a book I was so excited 😆 I highly recommend the book and the movie 😁🫶🏻🫶🏻
The spanish version has a lot of problems with the translation! It changes some words that didn't made much sense to me, but having seen the movie it didn't affect the story for me. It had some scenes that were a bit different from the movie and even new ones. If you're fan of zotopia...its a good way to keep the fandom and the feels. Good adaptation for children!....But fix those translation details, please!
Want to take the nephew to see this one because the previews looked really fun. I picked up the B&N exclusive hardcover novelization to read first. Loved it.
We listened to the audiobook in the car with our five year old and because we had already seen the movie, she could follow along. She loved it and it kept her satisfied for part of a long car ride. Highly recommend as a family book or audiobook.
The only reason why I read this was because of the movie lol. I loved the adaptation so much and I've watched it several times, so when that this audiobook was available at my library, I immediately borrowed it, so here I am, with this audiobook... it was fun, but definitely doesn't live up to the movie. The narrator wasn't very lively in the right places so I wasn't engaged. And Nick and Judy kept repeating each other's thoughts like if one of them did something kind to the other, they'd be like "that's so nice of them" in the same exact wording, if you catch my drift. Anyway, what was said and what happened was very similar to the movie so I appreciated that. While I love the story of Zootopia and the characters and it's plot, the book/audiobook was not very good. In this case, I'm totally movie > book! (Which is rare for me, and all other book lovers as well!)
I love it. I rated it 5 stars because it was so good. I wish I can get that as a film. 2 mayors got arrested during the story. Then Lionheart, their mayor, was out of jail then he proved it. Bellwether framed him, so That mayor was right! At the end was my favorite part. Their first bunny and fox as a cop.☺
This was a great junior novelization! I loved how accurate it was. It was like reading the movie and that's totally okay since I'm having withdrawals til it's released on DVD!
This book is the novelization of the movie. It's a chapter book for young readers, it doesn't have illustrations but it does have a few movie stills in the middle of the book that feel as if they're filling in that illustration requirement [at least that's how it feels to me]. I don't mind the movie stills being part of the book, I highly enjoy when they do that with plays, but this is the sort of story that would be great with really bright illustrations [better yet an actual graphic novel, and I don't mean the barely 80 pages type of take movie stills and slap on word bubbles on them, but like a legitimate 200+ page graphic novel in striking color and detail that has the story of the film formatted into comic form].
I greatly enjoyed the way this book was written because it doesn't just tell the audience what happens, it's set up to allow the reader to walk along with Judy through this adventure she's on [like novels usually do]. It feels like whoever undertook the task of writing the film in book form understood that a kid doesn't just want to read about what happens [they've probably already seen the film, they know how it goes], they want to feel like a part of the story.
I feel this book greatly succeeded in feeling like an actual novel instead of a film summary.
I wonder why Chief Bogo never apologizes to Judy Hopps for his harsh treatment of her. From the moment she joined the Zootopia Police Department, he dismissed her as an insignificant rookie, assigning her menial tasks like parking duty despite her top performance at the academy. His skepticism about her abilities, rooted in her being a small rabbit in a field dominated by larger animals, must have stung deeply, yet he hasn’t offered even a single word of regret. Perhaps his pride as a stern leader prevents him from admitting fault, or maybe he believes his eventual respect for her, shown through actions rather than words, is apology enough. Still, Judy’s resilience and determination deserved at least an acknowledgment of how unfairly he treated her at the start.
Memorable phrase: Turns out, real life’s a little bit more complicated than a slogan on a bumper sticker. Real life is messy. We all have limitations. We all make mistakes, which means… hey, glass half full! We all have a lot in common. And the more we try to understand one another, the more exceptional each of us will be.
I don't know. I half-paid attention to the movie, since literally ALL MY FRIENDS were going bananas over it when it came out, so I know the gist of things to tell it's pretty accurate. The "meh" is from I can't tell if this would be a good read on its own, or if it feels like some parts don't make sense because it's been shortened for a junior novelisation. Certainly the kicker ending is cut off; I expect that would've been hard to describe well, so the author just ended it as a feel-good thing instead.
It's not a BAD attempt, overall. I just feel like the audience is younger readers specifically who have seen and enjoyed the movie, and who can use the book to practice their reading. Recommended for them, not so sure about anyone else.
I'm obsessed with Zootopia. It's like my favorite Disney movie. So I thought what better to listen to in Spanish to brush up my Spanish skills than listening to Zootopia in Spanish?? I was surprised by how much I was able to understand! I will definitely be trying to find more Disney stories in Spanish lol
