“One is a queen diminished to a liar; the other is a pauper who climbed to a thief.

The Liar turns to The Thief, her crown glinting from the torches that line the halls. Begin scene.”

“I would have you by my side," she whispered, her hands drawing up the length of his spine and burying her fingers there; anchored there by him, harboring him in her space. "I would trade my wealth, my jewels, my title if it meant I could live a fearless life with you - ”

“But," Hermione insisted firmly, "I need you to understand that I alone will be the reigning Queen. You can be a prince beside me if you wish it, but I will still require your loyalty, and your service, and your -"

She broke off as he bent his head, lowering his lips to hers as he slid his hands around her hips, holding her steady. It was as tempting as ever, a troubling bit of something intangible that danced on her tongue, but she succumbed to it with ease, without apprehension; with the sense of something that would not aim to destroy her, but might enrich her.

Something to keep her afloat.

"Yes," she exhaled eventually, clearing her throat. "Yes. I will require that, too."

"Well," Draco said. "If my Queen commands me. Then, Majesty," he said, inclining his head before drawing his grey gaze up to hers, "I would deny you nothing.”

🌟♾️ If you (like me) developed an obsession with the Tudors as a teen and never fully grew out of it, and now find yourselves in your Dramione era, then this fic will feel like your worlds are colliding…

I enjoyed this for many many reasons, but mainly:

- my first foray into Tomione (Dramione endgame which I rooted for but for the first 50% I was Team Tom 🐍)
- the magic system with ice/fire was so interesting and a great divergence from the canon
- having Hermione and Pansy be the two strong, plotting, formidable female protagonists was just fantastic
- the whole royal/political power struggle plot kept me guessing the whole time
- the HANSY of it all!! Gosh I cried at the end when Harry said his big goodbye (spoiler, he lives! ⚡️)

My favourite quote:

‘Women have their own spheres, their own courts, their own muses. Women hear whispers and hum truths under their breaths. They spin lies and threats and ingest them like honey; let them sweeten like sins on the tips of their tongues. To be a woman and survive is to wear a mask; to be at once a promise and a falsehood; to be soft enough to comfort, to build solace from nothing; and yet to be so firm and strong and jagged that she cannot possibly break.’

Ps how much do I have to pay OlivieBlake to write fanfiction again?

(3.75) i was creaming the whole time for Hermione. that's it. specially when she planned for Harry and Pansy to run away together, made Draco kneel and be out of court and Tom to do as she said😩 I meannnn I love my women manipulative, the fact she controlled everything was too good.

there's such an interesting plot, strong personalities, proud and cunning women, men kneeling I meannnn what else could i want??

the things I didn't like: it's not focused on romance ok, but for me there's a difference between not focused on, and almost zero development. with Tom there was a story, and slowish burn (tho to be honest I never really cared for them, it didn't feel like a loving/protecting/toxic/power relationship yk? just like meh, ig they're together). but then I was 100% expecting we were going to have a super interesting dramione enemies to lovers, i really wanted to see how they changed their minds about each other and why Hermione would ever turn her back on Tom considering how in love she was and how he was the one to give her everything.

it was pretty disappointing how they just started fucking (always by threat of Hermione, ik she wouldn't force him but the wording made me kinda uncomfortable) and Tom changed his whole personality??? and uh yes that's it, at the end they marry because now she has a soft spot for Draco. we never know exactly why they care about each other, why they can't say no when they ask something from the other...it just happens, even when they only fuck. the glimpses we get from their future or conversations at the end chapter are better than their whole "relationship" while she was with Tom.

i also really felt like ripping my hair off with the final chapter, discovering that Aurora will fight Scorpius and probably take his throne I- NO. the throne's Hermione's. i loved how she was the one to kill Tom, how she re-married but never let another men command her or throw her in the shadows. she earned it.

quotes ;)

" Do not fear beauty; it does not last.

Do not fear anger; it will one day pass.

Do not fear monsters; their claws cannot hold.

Do not fear the future; it will come, yet untold."

Draco stared at her for a moment, his eyes following the lines of anticipation on her face, before slowly lowering himself to one knee.
"Then, Majesty," he said, inclining his head before drawing his grey gaze up to hers, "I would deny you nothing."

This fic was an utter masterpiece. I couldn't bring myself to stop it once I was engaged in it.
I had never seen such intricate storytelling in a fic but this one...oh my god. All the words were chosen perfectly, the characters were all morally grey and selfish and I very much liked that because it fitted with the royalty AU (another great idea!!), the relationships were so complicated but so beautifully descripted, the plot was genius...I LIKED IT ALL.
THIS FIC NOW HOLDS A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART
