This book certainly has all the elements of contemporary steamy romance but it is the depth of the characters and story surrounding the love triangle I found most compelling.

Emma, a writer, is in the midst of launching the audio version of her novel series, a project she started with her husband who has since passed. While she finds comfort in her writings as a way to overcome her grief, the idea of moving on with her life is emotional and challenging. The two men who come into Emma’s life are charismatic character with their own charm, complexity and past struggles of their own. One man is from her past, the other from her present. One man wants to love who she used to be, the other wants to love the woman she writes about in her novels. Do either man really want to love her for who she is? Emma is forced to make a decision but the author keeps you guessing which of the two men will be her future till the very end; and even then… is he really who Emma thinks he is?

Unpredictable turn of events keep you turning the pages till the very end. It was a pleasure to read Pax Sinclair’s debut novel. I look forward to her next book in the ‘Sweet & Sultry’ series.

Giggle, laugh and fall in love

When I can giggle, laugh and fall in love with the men in the story, I’m hooked.

This story is a little unusual. Emma is a writer, Parker is an airline pilot but Austin is an audio book narrator. Austin is not nerdy, anything but. When Emma first sees him, she says something like “If he’s the narrator, he should be starring in a romance novel, instead of reading them.”

I like this kind of story where it’s not just the two men fighting over the female and she’s just waiting to see who will win or save her. Emma is steering through the challenges of her own life from healing from a tragedy that happened three years ago while writing and publishing her successful adventure romance series and we see her doing this in a real way. Bex, her friend that helps her run her business, is a little comedy relief and I’d start to smile when I saw she was in a scene.

The men in the story are swoon worthy. Liked them both. The book had me guessing until almost to the end, which of them she was going to choose. Nice read. Would like to read another of her stories.

Emma is a romance writer doing last minute audiobooks for her series to be released during the Passion Moon, in honor of her late husband. She really wants to hire actor William Kaulder for this task, but worries that his egotistical ways may be a distraction. Instead, she hires a hulk of a man, Austin, who comes with an endorsement from William Kaulder. Austin has Emma confused with the female character in her books, and does not hide the fact that he lusts after her.

In the meantime, her brother in law drops in to see her after having been gone the past three years. A love triangle develops. One minute you find yourself rooting for one guy, and then rooting for the other the next. And just when you think you've got it all figured out, the script is flipped again.

I found the book to be very inviting, and anxiously read each page to find out who Emma chooses in the end. A good read dosed with humor all the right places.

I was provided an Advance Reader copy for the purpose of review.

I don’t normally like triangle romances, but when a friend suggested the book, I decided to read it anyway.
I thought the story would be dark and tragic, but it had me laughing in some places and surprised at some of the twists. This is also a sexy read with lots of steam throughout the story.
After the death of Emma’s husband, the only thing in her life is writing and her cat Daisy.
Brash, sexy, Parker, is from Emma’s past. He has a deep connection with her and we see it in some of their small interactions. The scene she has with him in the kitchen when he catches her trying to sneak out of the house was probably one of the best that shows their past. It also makes you wonder why they didn’t connect like this sooner. And of course, the heat builds from there.
OMG Austin, is hot, brooding and a good counterbalance to Parker. They don’t like each other. No surprise there. He is physically imposing, which puts people off, but not Emma who challenges him and that leads to a lot of steamy interaction. I liked the story.

This is a fun and sexy read with great plot twists and character development. The characters are intriguing and provide a sense of mystery that lingers throughout the book, there was a constant sense of trying to fit all of the pieces together. The story is cleverly written, revealing new layers of depth and added points of tension with each chapter. I loved Austin, his presence in the story was such a hook for me. I could not figure him out and just wanted more and more of him. His chemistry with Emma felt very natural, and I loved her reactions to him. I'm a fan of the slow burn. The twists and turns kept me engrossed from page one to the last.

The writing is really smooth. It is fast-paced with an expert use of dialogue building character depth and momentum. Cannot wait to read book two.

Someone Like you follows the format of a typical romance novel, with extra oomph.

The heroine, Emma, is a strong woman who is trying to get on with her life after a devastating loss. Austin is a sexy hunk who desperately wants to read the part of Cooper Flynn, the hero in Emma’s books. Parker, who is just as sexy and a bit of a rascal, arrives back into her life. As Emma works to achieve the goal of launching the latest Cooper Flynn book during the eclipse of the moon, she struggles to deal with the feelings both men has evoked in her.

The plot is quite simple. Woman meets man. Man from past reenters woman’s life. Woman must choose who to give her heart too. Having said that, the story the author weaves through out the romance formula is quite entertaining. The characters are well developed and the sex scenes are hot. The “second string” characters are essential to the story, and I enjoyed them as much as the main characters. An example of this is Emma’s mother-in-law, Caroline. Caroline is a typical mother in law, and always a bit cool towards Emma. Then the author writes a scene between the two of them, where the mother in law smokes a joint and offers to share with Emma. I was laughing so hard, I choked on my water. It was a great way to humanize a character and I was a fan of Caroline’s from that point on.

Someone Like You is entertaining, hot, funny, and a perfect book to curl up with after a rough day. An exciting bit of news was learning that Ms. Sinclair is continuing the story of Emma in a second book. If you enjoy Nora Robert’s romances, you will love this book. If you love hot romances, you will love this book. And, if you love an entertaining story, you will love this book.

Thanks to Library Thing and Pax Sinclair for the opportunity to read and review this four stars book.

I received a free advanced copy of this book for an honest review.

An unusual no for me.

There were some good scenes in the book which made me laugh, which was nice. However this book just didn't do it for me. It may be the fact that one of the main love interests in the book was her brother-in-law that really put me off the book. I mean even if she is a widow now, it was just weird for me to consider the brother-in-law as a serious love interest, and i feel like it was one reasons why I couldn't take the whole book seriously, because the "conflict" isn't really much of a conflict.

Austin, who is the other love interest, is handsome and sexy. Lusts after Emma but seems to be confusing Emma and the main heroine of her novels, which she is nothing like.

Emma's character itself felt a little flat for me and at one point I honestly didn't like her at all.

I tried to re-read it to see if I might like it better this time around, but I just couldn't really get into this story.

When Emma’s husband passed away, she felt her life was over. Even thou it’s been several years, she must move forward in her writing project they had both started. Writing steamy romance novels is difficult when you haven’t had sex in a while. However, in the process of searching for a male narrator for her latest book, Emma meets Austin, a man with a voice made for sex and also very mysterious. When she’s around him, she’s drawn to him in a way that confuses her. When it rains it pours it seems. Now someone from her past shows up at her door, Parker, her brother in law.

It seems that Parker has been bidding his time, since he wants to be in her life permanently and take her to Australia. How can she be drawn to two men at the same time. Austin has the mysterious aura about him that appeals to Emma, with smoldering eyes she could drown in. When Parker tells her she was destined to marry him instead of his brother and he was planning to propose to her but his brother asked first, Emma is blown away. What is she going to do.

The only negative comment I will say about this book, is the abrupt ending. I felt I needed more. Since I’m unable to rate half stars, it is actually a three and a half stars.
I received a copy of this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Emma’s popularity is growing as she is about to release her last book in the Passion Moon series; in hardback, kindle, and audio. It throws her life into turmoil when she searches for a new voice for her audio book. She could have the admired and elusive Kaulder, or the sexy and perplexing Austin. Her deceased husband’s brother reconnects, wanting to pick up where they left off ten years ago. Her fortune, “You will know love is real when you see the metal of their true self”, plays through her head as she comes to grips with her heart.

Someone Like You:  Sweet and Sultry by Pax Sinclair keeps it mysterious and hot through the whole story. The twists at the end makes this twice the pleasure of reading. I love the dedication Emma had towards her late husband and the legacy she wanted to leave for him. But it also allowed her to end that chapter in her life and make way for another love. Mesmerizing read, would love to see more from this author.

This is the first book of Pax Sinclair that I have read and I must say that it was a joy to read. Emma has 2 men who want her. She is getting ready to launch her audio series and is looking for someone to do the narrator for it. She has a meeting with Austin and she might use him. Parker her brother-in-law comes back and things get complicated. She wants to be with Austin but she thinks he just wants her for the character in her book. Parker thinks he wants her because she was his brother's wife and they always competed with each other. Emma is still not over the death of her husband and the book was something they worked on together.
Who will Emma choose? Will it be Austin or will it be Parker.
This was a great book with all the twists and turns, emotions that the characters must deal with. I would recommend it to anyone.

Emma writes romance book. The hot, steamy and not safe for work kind. Her books are how she lives, experiencing each moment through their eyes and feeling all through their touches. She seeks to desperately escape her own life, full of heartbreak and loneliness. When she takes the next step with her novels and searches for a male voice to narrate her books, she gets a bit more than she bargained for when Austin barges into her life. Around this time Parker, her ex brother-in-law who has been carrying a torch for her for a very long time, shows up and tries to insert himself into her life. Emma has to make a choice now between the two men, and what kind of life she really wants.
Well written, with a sense of humor and likeable characters. This is not a reverse harem or MFM, it is a triangle love story with one male/female at the end.

A great start to a new series...

Someone Like You is the first book in the Sweet and Sultry series. This is a beautifully told story of a love triangle between a romance writer, Emma, a possible narrator, Austin, and Emma's brother-in-law, Parker. The characters in this story are well developed, likable, and relatable. The storyline is well written and flows nicely throughout. It has humour, suspense, steamy romance, and a happily ever after for romance for Emma and her man.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I am looking forward to reading more.

Thank you!
I am absolutely thrilled that I am able to review this book for Ms. Sinclaire! As a debut book she has “hit it out of the park”! The characters are absolutely wonderful, and you will love both Emma and Austin. The story itself is compelling, and you will find yourself not wanting to put it down until you’ve finished it. If you like romance with twists and turns, ups and downs then this well written book is for you!!!!

An unusual no from me

Romance novels are my favorite. I could read them all day long. I don’t even mind the ones that have a lot of sex in them (I can always skip ahead if it’s too much). But I just couldn’t get into the book. Emma feel flat as the main character while I also didn’t feel the connection between her and the two guys who loved her. At the end of the book, it was just kinda like “ehh” to find out who she chose. It definitely had some sex scenes but they weren’t as descriptive as others I’ve read so just a warning for those who don’t like that.

More Austin Please

More of Austin, please. I could see him so clearly when I was reading the story. He has more to him than his warrior-like exterior.

I liked Parker too and I could see why Emma had a hard time choosing between these two men. I think what stopped her from making a decision was that she didn’t want to be hurt again. These men came into her life so fast, that she didn’t have time to think.

The other supporting characters in the story were very good. There was a long scene with Nils, Maybe the author will feature him in another story.

Emma is a writer. She lost her husband and she is having a hard time getting back on track with work, although she should be choosing the narrators for her audio book. When all of the sudden Parker calls her and says that he wants to catch up.
This was my first read from this author. I don't know, I just wasn't feeling the story, that's why I gave it three stars. It did not pull me in as much as I wanted it to. It took to long for things to pick up.

Romantic

I love a good love triangle story. I always like seeing who they end up with. Some are boring because it’s predictable who the lucky guy will be. This story was not like that. Throughout reading this book I felt like I was at a tennis match watching the ball being bounced in both courts. I wanted to know who would win the heart! Glad where it went in the end. Loved it. Worth the read!

Someone Like You hit some great tropes: love triangle, damaged alpha male, unrequited love, mutual attraction in a professional relationship. There's humor, heartache, and tension. The character development was great, as well.
I love romances and this book didn't disappoint. The steamy scenes had my heart pounding which is exactly what a romance should do. I'm all revved up to check out more from Pax Sinclair.

Just like the character Molly in her book, Emma was in it for the forever. She suffered the loss of her husband and was in no hurry to put herself back out there til she met Austin...but of course it couldn’t be that simple. Cue her brother in law Parker with his feelings for her. Reading this made me feel like I was watching a movie. Yes, it’s THAT good!!

This was a steamy read!

If you like the publishing industry or fun twists, this is the book for you. The story moves well, and the passion between Emma and her lovers is great. Sinclair builds it very well - I loved the “romantic interludes” ! My favorite line: “Jesus Christ on a cheese snack” I highly recommend Someone Like You!
