Rate this book
Dustu had gone to the Iroquois Confederacy from the Cherokee village in North Carolina. He was looking for a maiden he could take for a wife. He started out wanting to just get a maiden and take her back to his village. Once he got to New York and found his maiden, he decided he liked it there. It was colder than his home, but it was just as beautiful. He found the people in the Iroquois Confederation very nice and accommodating, and he realized he wanted to stay in the Seneca village. He had Anoki take him to the Mohawk village and found a maiden but had to wait for his brother to get here with his horses. A couple of days later his brother showed up, and he took his best horse to pay the bride price. Dustu got his maiden and went back to the Seneca village. They had just got settled in when something happened that would drive them from this reservation and to North Carolina. Rosebud had finally gotten chosen to get married. She was so excited. She could not wait for Dustu to get his horses and to come and claim her so they could start their life together. When he came, he paid the bride price and took her back to the Seneca village. A bad experience forced them from the Iroquois reservation, and they moved to North Carolina. She was liked by all but some girls that gave her problems. They thought that their problems followed them, but it turned out that it was fine to stay there. Now she had to learn Cherokee so she could talk to the people in the village.
