1 book1 followerI was born in a small town in Saskatchewan in 1962, second oldest of 5 children. I have so many wonderful memories from this part of my life.(my parents likely had a different perspective)
I graduated from Eastend high school in 1980, my dad was also my principal.(no pressure!)
By the time I was 26 I was married with 3 children, Justin, Mitchell and Jenson, aged 1, 3 and 5.
I was inspired to return to school and become a registered nurse after my middle son was diagnosed with and conquered chidhood leukemia.
It was during the stressful time of his illness that anxiety and depression began to have an effect on my life. I began to search for ways to assist my body, mind and spirit to heal themselves.
Thats when I discovered yoga/ meditation and energy healing in the form of Reiki. They changed my life!
These healing modalities, my children, grandchildren and God were the inspiration for writing my first book "SHINE".

This book was simply wonderful. In today’s society life can be busy and chaotic and this doesn’t exclude young children either. I strongly believe that learning how to meditate and be mindful is important to our overall happiness as it gives us a break from the day to day chaos. It’s a skill that takes time and practice and what better time to start than as children.
I loved how easily accessible the language is for children by referencing superpowers, and balloons. It takes what they could considered a “boring” activity and was turned into a fun activity by making it about more than just being still and breathing. It also includes children with different abilities which was a thoughtful touch.
The artwork is gorgeous and complemented the book beautifully. It brought the whole book to life and really engaged the children.
I am an educational assistant and we read this book in the classroom. Every child was engaged and seemed to really gain from the whole experience. They were more focused and settled afterwards during a time in the day which they usually struggle with that.
Overall I think this a wonderful book for any classroom and a great addition to the home library as well.
