Craft beer and the sexy men who brew it.

A beautiful neighbor. A complete stranger. That’s all she was when I moved in next door.

Adelyn Maxwell is my neighbor but she’s no girl next door. The more I come to know her, the more I discover she’s a good girl with a lovely dark side. And maybe I don’t want her to stay on her side of the fence.

I want to disturb the rhythm of her pulse.

I want to see the way her hair spills on the bed when she lies beneath me.

I want her to teach me the dirty pretty things she desires behind closed doors. And she does.

But mostly I want to leave my mark on the most intimate, untouched part of her body. Her heart.

A seemingly insignificant intersection of our lives neither of us recalls suddenly becomes a pivotal moment in our future. We aren’t strangers at all. And our paths aren’t crossing for the first time.

These twists and turns of fate will become one of two things: a wrecking ball to tear us apart or the connection to bond us together forever.

Oliver Thorn aka Stout is a gorgeous single guy from Savannah. He lives in Birmingham, AL. & owns a business called Lovibond Brewery with his two friends Tap & Porter. Oliver buys his first real home, & on moving day he gets a warm welcome from his new neighbor Adelyn Maxwell. She lives right next door & is a stunning redhead. Redheads are Oliver's weakness, & when she offers him a basket of baked treats as well, he is smitten with her & wants to get to know this hot new neighbor.

Adelyn Maxwell is a preacher's daughter who has been a little closed off to men lately after a traumatic experience with an ex. She becomes friends with her new neighbor Oliver & they begin spending a lot of time together. They just really hit it off & find it easy to confide in one another. They discover they actually have a lot in common, that is until they take things to the next level & in the bedroom. Turns out their tastes in the bedroom don't exactly mesh. Adelyn leans toward the kinky a bit more than Oliver. Can this sexy redhead teach this tattooed hottie a few things? Things get a bit awkward & then extremely hot!!! They discover they're paths have crossed before & we get some drama as they also try to overcome some emotional baggage from past relationships. As usual I love Georgia Cates writing! So excited for Porter's book next! :D

Reading Stout is just like baking your favorite dish. All the ingredients are there and with the perfect prep - you end up with a masterpiece. A slow, but brilliant, built up to an addictive story. I loved every single second of Stout.

Stout (Lovibond #2) by Georgia Cates
3.5 stars!!

“You were there when I needed you.”

This was one of those books that I deem a “cute” read, it had all the elements of a great romance with an added side of angst…not a lot, but enough. Georgia Cates always writes a swoon worthy male and Oliver Thorn aka Stout was no exception and with a heroine that knew what she wanted out of life and in the bedroom made for an easy read that I didn’t want to end.

Stout first appeared in Tap as one of the owners of the Lovibond brewery and now we get his story. Stout had been burned by love and now kept his heart well and truly guarded. After being betrayed by who he thought was his forever love he had jumped from bed to bed in a vain attempt at proving his virility, but he soon realised it was pointless and meaningless. Since his eureka moment he has just been biding his time patiently waiting to find “the one.” Lawry, Oliver’s sister, who we know from book one, Tap, persuades him to sell his bachelor pad and buy a house, on moving day, Stout becomes acquainted with his next door neighbour, one fiery redhead. Moving had never looked like such a great idea.

“If you’re going to be the man in her life, be the amazing man in her life. Be the strong one who puts her needs above your own.”

Adelyne, said fiery redhead, is a successful event planner and is a workaholic. Having moved away from home and the life of a preacher’s daughter she appreciated and needed her own life. Adelyne had also been burned by love and had been out of the field for years. She kept her secrets close to her chest and all men at arm’s length…that was until Oliver moved in next door. With a basket of baked goods their paths cross for the first time.

“He asked me to not defile you when five minutes prior you had sucked my dick and swallowed my cum. I can’t lie. I felt kinda bad about it.”

Georgia Cates delivers a romance that will have your heart warmed from the very beginning. Two people that are desperate to be loved and wanted while wanting the ability to trust completely. Two people perfectly suited on the outside and inside but have a little “problem” in the bedroom, our Adelyne is a little kinky and likes her men Alpha. Our Stout is manly in all the right places but has always appreciated the female form and is as gentle as they come. Stout needs to find the alpha within.

“Take me to your bedroom. Let’s experiment. Compromise.
…Trust me, Thorn. I’ll never ask you to hurt me; I don’t enjoy pain. But I like a firm grip.”

I loved their story and was truly rooting for them from the very beginning. I loved their relationship, their banter and it their relationship moved from friends to lovers at a believable pace. I loved their jealous tendencies and some of the banter from side characters had me in hysterics. I laughed and swooned a lot with these two. My only niggle was that some parts felt a little rushed. This was an endearing story that will leave you smiling from ear to ear. We have had Tap and Stout, now what will Porter have in store? Maybe an employee’s daughter?…not to be missed

“Falling in love feels like playing with fire, but Adelyn’s a flame I can’t resist. She may very well burn me alive because no man can stand in fire and not be consumed by it.”

Pass me a cold brew because Georgia Cates has me downing and devouring her newest release that is on tap, STOUT. Ms. Cates has perfectly crafted a romance that was brewing with lots of raw emotions, steam, second chances, new beginnings and of course passion. You can definitely say that STOUT was a perfect blend of romance done right to have you drunk on Oliver Thorn.

photo 1fca7c131016e497167e7bf99f797f_zps0t10wsll.gif “Three years ago, if a man like Oliver waltzed into my life, I wouldn’t have been this confident. This . . . determined. But Oliver has awakened something within me that had been dormant. It’s as if only he can bring that part of me alive again. I need it. I want him.”

Stout aka Oliver Thorn may have a talent in crafting beer but in this second installment of the Lovibond Series, Georgia Cates has crafted a story where two people with a broken past found a love that was all-consuming, blinding, and utterly beautiful where the past and present collided forcing two lovers to make a choice. To walk away or begin anew?

#Stout

Oliver Thorn didn’t have the best childhood growing up until his sister and him were adopted into the Thorn family. And so when, Oliver finally made a name for himself and found a thriving career, he bought a house. What Oliver didn’t expect when he bought the house was to be intrigued by the sexy red-head neighbor, Adelyn Maxwell.

Adelyn and Oliver’s relationship is the kind of love where you know that these two belonged to each other as they were able to understand the broken pieces of their past. And with that common thread and understanding, they soon found themselves painting a vibrant love story filled with honesty, compassion, forgiveness, respect and love.

photo 1fca7c131016e497167e7bf99f797f_zps0t10wsll.gif “Oliver is already proving to be a take-control kind of lover. It’s what I like. What I crave. What I need to be satisfied. A complete alpha. Nothing less will fulfill me and my needs.”

Unlike the first book, TAP, I found STOUT to be more emotionally charged, raw, and vulnerable than the first book. Oliver and Adelyn’s story was a second chance love story that gripped readers from the start. Both have a past. Both have scars. And together, both Oliver and Adelyn found the closure, love, and healing that they were looking for. I applaud Ms. Cates for writing a love story that brings awareness that the heart can heal, forgive, and love again. So if you are looking for a book where the author has brewed the right amount of hops, raw emotions, sexuality, forgiveness, love, and new beginnings then this book is for you. I absolutely adore this book because it had the perfect combination of raw emotions and steam!!! As always, Ms. Cates seduces her readers with her sinfully sexy prose while still maintaining a consuming love story that will warm our hearts. So if you are looking for a book, that will have you drunk on love then I highly recommend you to read STOUT by Georgia Cates. And trust me when I say that you would want to be drunk on Oliver Thorn and his alpha ways.

OMG! The HEAT!
These Lovibond men are crafty to more than beer! Although Oliver Thorn plays around, he is not a player as much as a man in retreat from love.

Adelyn is somewhat in the same boat. Being next door neighbors makes life difficult because the attraction between Adelyn and Oliver is like dynamite. Scorching fire flows from these pages and you will be spellbound to read this book and finish it in one sitting.

My test for a great book is 1) am I smiling while I am reading the book and 2) do I walk around clutching my Kindle looking for a second to continue reading the book I cannot put down. Easy peasy this one is a winner!

I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.

Good second instalment in the Lovibond Series. This one is about Oliver (Lawrence's brother/ Lucas' business partner) and Adelyn , she is Oliver's neighbour.
I have to be honest and say that it took me a while to warm up to Adelyn. I thought she was very blunt and brusque with the way she disclosed some really personal details about her life to Oliver. It felt a bit too much too soon for me. I did think that when we see her vulnerability and how Oliver reacts to her wants/needs in the bedroom , it was very well written and I really felt for her then. Both these characters have been to hell and back in the past but together they can heal their old wounds.
Another reason for not giving 5 stars may sound petty....I'm sorry, this is purely personal ....but it drove me batty that the characters have so many names.
Oliver aka Thorn/Ollie/Stout.
Adelyn aka Max/ Addie
Lawrence aka Lawry/Wren
Lucas aka Luc/ Boudreaux/ Brou / Tap
That's probably just me though. Rant over!
Overall I enjoyed this book very much. There's lots of emotional healing. Some twists and turns I didn't see coming. Some angst but nothing too worrying. Lots of sex in this book. Lots and lots. Good to see the other characters too~ I'm looking forward to Porter's story.
Just to say this is not a short book at all, but it stopped at 79% on my Kindle and then sampled other work by Georgia.

I may love Stout more than Tap, and I never dreamed that could happen.

Oliver Thorn is something to behold. He’s a man who loves with all he has and is. He loves his sister and his business. His passion for them flow into everything he is.

Adelyn Maxwell is pretty damn perfect. She was raised right and owns her own business. Not to mention, she’s gorgeous! Ollie and Adelyn are a pair of lovebirds that you fall in love with immediately. But life is never as simple as it seems on the surface...

Stout is the second in the Lovibond series and Georgia Cates has outdone herself yet again. The Lovibond guys are perfect in every way. Their passion for life, their business and the women in their lives is off-the-charts insane. Chemistry rolls off the pages between Ollie and Adelyn at each turn. As a reader, I love to see them overcome their pasts to make their futures even stronger, and Georgia has done this so perfectly.

I can’t wait for Porter to see what’s in store for him! ~ Heather, 5 Beerific stars

What did I just read?! Omg!!! Georgia you made me feel like I wanted to read for weeks! This book was amazing and oh so perfect!!!!!

Oliver or Stout book was not what I expected! Adelyn was a character that I never read before, and I loved her.

Oliver Thorn had a good life, a family that loved him and he too, a sister to give life for, friends and a good financial future, but he felt empty and alone. He needed someone to share with.

Adelyn Maxwell was a very strong and independent woman, a survivor and a fierce lover who had her own demons to fight. She couldn't denied the powerful attraction she had with her neighbor, Oliver, she wanted everything and more. But she wasn't ready to give herself again, she needed trust and not only love, but she never felt like this with someone else.

But the past would come back and take revenge, they couldn't just live in peace while the demons were a threaten.

I loved Stout and I might say, I'm sorry Tap. But Georgia is like this, and author that brings you to your needs and taste your limits, giving you what you want and need. She's amazing!

Another amazing read by Georgia Cates. This author is still fairly new to me but I am slowly devouring she has written and loving each and every book I read and just like book one, this book threw me through a tunnel of emotions, and plot twists I didn't see coming.

This is Oliver and Adelyn's story.

And I must say this was kind of different, but also had elements I love most about romances.
Oliver was an alpha. So much so. But he wasn't afraid to show how he felt and is feeling, or face his feelings and then we have Adelyn, a heroine who knows what she wants and she goes after it. It was awesome to read. I loved these two for being different yet they still held so much to characters that I love in a romance. Both characters are struggling with their pasts, it's left them jaded, and it's made it difficult for them to see what's right in front of them. THEM. They belong together... In every sense of the word!

The chemistry between these two became intense the deeper I got into the story. It did not lack for anything when it came to heat and steamy scenes.

Overall, this was an amazing book, grabbed my attention from the start and held it all the way through. I couldn't put it down!

Stout is my guy. I liked Tap but Stout has a side that makes him more human. His past and the ugly reality make him more relatable. His gorgeous eyes, great arms, and sexy tattoos only add to that. His protective nature and kindness make him irresistible. If only she agreed...

Adelyn has a different view...from her backdoor. This insanely hot, beefed up dude is her new neighbor in the land of soccer practice and minivans. Temptation is 5ft away.

Though darkness swims in their souls, these two have a light to be shared. We just need them to fight for it.

5 Star review of Neighbor Girl (A Southern Girl #2) by Georgia Cates

Previously released as Stout: Men of Lovibond, this is the second book in the series and is Oliver and Adelyn’s story.

It is so refreshing to read about a heroine that knows what or who she wants and is not afraid to go after it. Oliver is definitely an Alpha who isn’t afraid to face his feelings head on.

The chemistry between them is intense, and the scenes are hot and steamy. I really liked Oliver and Adelyn both separately and particularly as a couple.

Both Oliver and Adelyn have pasts that have left them a little broken and at times struggling to see the truth around them.

This was a sweet, hot, spicey and entertaining read.

SO I'm a little late to this party. That's right I had one clicked Tap when it came out and life got in the way.

I will say that as soon as I finished Stout I not only went back and read it, I devoured it!!

Ok enough here is Stout!

A beautiful neighbor. A complete stranger. That’s all she was when I moved in next door.

When Oliver Thorn moves into his perfect house with the white picket fence he had no idea about the lady next door. Adelyn Maxwell has no idea that her life is going to take a turn in the other direction when she ring at her new neighbors house.

I can tell you right now. Her first thoughts were of borrowing sugar. NAKED..

Their acquaintance takes a turn to friendship when Adelyn is hired to plan the event party for Bohemian Cider company. One meeting soon blends into her showing up with bread.

Ladies don't even lie, I would bake bread for this man. Actually I would buy freshly baked bread for this guy.

Their flirting is through the roof, their connection electrify. It's that good.

Her heart.

It took one touch to send them over the friendship line. It took one kiss for her to know he was the one. It took one word to make her trust him. It took one second to make it all seem unreal.

One moment where you aren't sure what to say. What to do. Where to look. One moment to set you back not to square one. You aren't even on the same map.

But what was coming would be what could shatter them the most. What could be the end of them. For that one moment when the sun set and everything is right, comes that little detail that perhaps they have met before. Perhaps in another time their paths crossed. Shaping them into the person that they are today

These twists and turns of fate will become one of two things: a wrecking ball to tear us apart or the connection to bond us together forever.

This book sucked me into their world. I was hooked from the first sentence and could not put it down for one second.

LOVED LOVED LOVED this series and can't wait for more

Rounding up to 3 stars.

“This old, worn plastic bottle ignited a fire in me and played a huge part in making me who I am today.”

“A seed of trust has been planted. Now we wait to see if it takes root. Will we nurture the fruit or allow it to be choked by the weeds?”

Told from dual points of view, Stout follows the story of Adelyn and Oliver. One of the first things that drew me into this book, was the cover and description. I was so excited. I could not wait to get my hands on it. Sadly, this is one of those books that you’re either going to love or you’re going to hate. For me, it was just alright.

When I first picked up this book, I was intrigued. I wanted to know more about Oliver ‘Stout’ and I was intrigued by his new neighbor. From the moment these two meet, you can feel the sparks and chemistry between the two of them. I enjoyed the slow burn. I loved how they were friends first and slowly turned into more. I really liked Oliver. He was a sweet and caring guy. He had a very difficult and traumatic past. His life could have went in many bad directions, but it only made him strive to be a better man.

However, I did have one, pretty big issue with this story and that would be Adelyn. I really struggled with her and tried to connect with her and understand her. Don’t get me wrong, my heart went out to her because of the previous relationship she was in. God knows, no one should have to endure what she did. But, I struggled a lot with her behavior towards Stout. This is so hard to be vague about, but it was such a big struggle for me….Without going into a lot of detail, I will just say that Adelyn has a dark side and I wasn’t really comfortable with it. Now, I have to say, it takes a lot to make me feel uncomfortable. I read a lot of books that take me out of my comfort zone/push my limits. However, this just didn’t work for me. I really didn’t like how she tried to transform Oliver. It was awkward and honestly made me really uncomfortable. When you know about Oliver and his difficult past, you will understand why I had such an issue with this. Personally, this was something that was very hard to get past and at times, I wasn’t sure that I was going to stick with this book.

Overall, I thought this was an ok read. Like I said, I think this is one of those books that’s going to be a hit for some and for others, not so much. I will say that even though I did have a pretty big issue with the story, I was glad that I stuck it out and finished the book. There were some parts that I really enjoyed. I do think the story was written well and it does deal with some pretty heavy subject matter. This is my first book by this author, and even though it was not a 100% hit for me, I’m still open to checking out more of her books in the future.

Well, it seems the boys from Lovibond brewery are hot as hell. First Lucas "Tap" and now Oliver "Stout."

Stout is the second book from The Lovibond Series by Georgia Cates. It is very different from the fun & flirty first book... Tap had some serious content, but Stout is darker. It tackles some serious issues. Oliver "Stout" Thorn & Adelyn Maxwell are two victims and survivors of unimaginable abuse... Stout by his biological parents and Adelyn by her ex boyfriend...
Are they a match made in heaven or are they both too damaged???

Stout is a real man's man. A true Alpha male. He's loyal, ambitious and protective over the people he loves. We learned about his & Lawry's horrific childhood in Tap. Both were neglected and abused until they were taken away from their biological parents as young children. By some miracle they were adopted by the Thorns. Only then did they learn to love and feel safe. Oliver doesn't allow his past to define him. If anything it has made him better. Unfortunately, he has been burned in the past, so he finds trusting to be difficult...

Adelyn Maxwell can totally relate to Oliver's past. She is also a survivor of abuse. Life hasn't been easy for her. Besides the abuse, she's had endured a tremendous loss that she is not over. She is a complicated character, but Georgia has once again created another strong, smart and fiercely independent leading lady. She has every thing going for her except someone to share it with. Her past has left her with trust issues as well....

When Stout & Adelyn meet there is an obvious chemistry and attraction. Deciding to take it slow, they establish a wonderful friendship, by opening up to each other and building trust. Seemingly very compatible, they decide to take things further... As things heat up, Stout gets shocked by Adelyn taste in the bedroom.... Do to her violent past, Stout (and myself) struggled with her preferences. Can Stuot give her what she needs? This wasn't their only obstacle. There are a few big surprises... Sometimes the past doesn't stay buried and comes back to haunt you. Can love conquer all and get them past their roadblocks?

It was great catching up with the Lovibond gang again. They are such a heartwarming entertaining bunch. I was thrilled to see they all made an appearance. Porter's book is up next and after reading about him in the past two books, I am soooo EXCITED. Georgia gave us just enough to let us know, Porter's road will not be an easy one!! I foresee lots of angst. I wonder if he will be as hot as Tap & Stout??!!

This review was originally posted on Cocktails and Books

Adelyn has her own issues. She's determined to build her business but shies away from men. No one could blame her, considering what she had been through with her ex. But she's drawn to Olivier, especially since he's the only man to awaken her libido in five years.

I lived Oliver and Adelyn together. Oliver showed her what it's like to be worshipped by a man and loved the right way. Adelyn needed that, considering all she'd been through. And Oliver found that he wasn't like his biological parents and that he could have a real, healthy relationship. Oliver also discovered that "healthy" could have various meanings, depending on the couple. He was enlightened to a kinkier sex life than he'd experienced in the past and I loved how Adelyn was able to give that to him, because it was obvious it was something he was good at.

My only issue with the story came from when Olivier discovered what Adelyn liked in the bedroom. He was scared by it and ran. He did some research and then came back asking if they could compromise....which to me was all great. But I wanted to know exactly what scared Oliver so much? What changed his mind? And why didn't he and Adelyn ever really discuss what she needed versus what was Oliver's hard limits? I know they worked it out, but I would think given his reaction, they would have needed to have a much more in-depth discussion about it and set some limits. Saying "we need to compromise" seemed too vague.

Overall, this was another solid read by Georgia Cates. The Lovibond world she's created pulls you in. The characters are wonderfully flawed, yet loyal and loving and hard not to like. I find myself hard-pressed to put my Kindle down with this group. It's definitely a series to check out and Oliver's story is my favorite so far.

I always enjoy Ms. Cates writing and Stout was no exception! I am in love with Oliver Thorn... He's definitely my favorite of the bunch! This is his story with Adelyn, an event and Ollie's neighbor. I wish I liked Adelyn more, but I just never really connected with her character. I thought I'd warm up to her some especially given her past circumstance but it just didn't happen. I kind of feel like she was whiny or wishy washy but even with that I was able to enjoy her story. Oliver more than made up for that part for me. He was alpha and protective and he went after what he wanted. I enjoyed getting to read more about Lawry and Tap and I'm looking forward to Porter's book!!

*3.5 My expectations for b2 were set pretty high after reading Tap so perhaps that's why this book fell just a tad short for me. Not even sure I can pin down exactly what it was that didn't work for me...maybe the story had too much going on?? However, overall, this was an enjoyable read!! I really like ALL the characters and can't wait for the next book!! THE EPILOGUES IN THIS SERIES ROCK!!!!!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 9, 2020

A beautiful stranger.
That’s all she was when I moved into the house beside her.
And then I discovered something.

My neighbor isn’t your typical girl next door.

She’s a preacher’s daughter.
She’s a business professional.
She’s a fiery vixen who desires a strong alpha in the bedroom.
And a firm grip around her throat.

That’s what I give her.
But more than that, I want to leave my mark on the most intimate, untouched part of her body.
Her heart.

Things are perfect until that cruel twist of fate.
We learn that our paths aren’t crossing for the first time.
And we aren’t strangers at all.

Our history is painful.
Our love, fragile.
Our ending, inevitable… unless I can convince her that the past shouldn’t end our future.

***Previously titled Stout: Men of Lovibond.

REVIEW: NEIGHBOR GIRL is the second instalment in Georgia Cates’s contemporary, adult SOUTHER GIRL erotic, romance series focusing on three friends-Lucas ‘Tap’ Broussard, Oliver ‘Stout’ Thorn, and Porter Beckman of Lovibond Brewery. This is Lovibond co-owner Oliver Thorn, and events coordinator Adelyn Maxwell’s story line. We were first introduced to Oliver in book 1-Bohemian Girl (previously TAP)-Oliver is Lawry’s brother. NEIGHBOR GIRL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: NEIGHBOR GIRL was originally released as STOUT, the second instalment in the author’s previously titled Lovibond series.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Adelyn and Oliver aka Max and Thorn) NEIGHBOR GIRL focuses on the building relationship between new neighbors Adelyn and Oliver-a relationship that begins with a welcome to the neighborhood basket of baked goodies, a nosy sister who asks all of the right questions, and a PR event for Lovibond Brewery. What ensues is a slow building relationship between two people whose previous love matches resulted in broken and destroyed hearts. Trust must earned, and in this, our couple find themselves at odds on more than one occasion.

The attraction between Adelyn and Oliver is immediate and visceral but neither one is willing to act on their feelings and emotions. Their first night together finds Oliver out of his comfort zone, and out of Adelyn’s immediate life. Adelyns’s needs in the bedroom find Oliver focusing on the past. The $ex scenes are erotic, seductive and provocative.

NEIGHBOR GIRL has a large ensemble of secondary and supporting characters including Lawry and Luke from Bohemian Girl #1; Lawry and Oliver’s amazing parents; and Adelyn’s preacher father and his wife. We are also introduced to several friends and acquaintances, as well as Oliver’s new PA who may or may not be having an affair with Porter. Lawry’s friends Kelsey and Ivy make a cameo appearance at Oliver’s thirtieth birthday party-these girls like to tell it like it is. The world building continues to focus on the ‘craft beer’ industry though not as detailed as book one.

Georgia Cates seduces the reader with her stories of romance, love, family and a HEA. The premise is moving and compelling; the characters are captivating, entertaining and passionate; the romance is sensual and spirited. NEIGHBOR GIRL looks at heartbreak and betrayal; love and understanding; moving forward and letting go of the past.

I feel like I should have liked this one more than I did. I liked that Adelyn told Oliver her brutal past and that Oliver stood by her. I liked how Oliver told his own story about his past and Adelyn stood by him. I liked that there was a solid base of friendship before they jumped into a relationship.

I really thought an issue would come out when Adelyn learned about Oliver's DUI, but that didn't really happen. I understand why Adelyn freaked out, it sort of made sense to me, but by then she really knew Oliver and it bothered me that Adelyn didn't let Oliver talk at first. Sure Adelyn did a total 180 when she learned and saw the faces with the names, but it still bothered me.

I normally like an aggressive woman who knows what she wants in bed, but there were a couple of times where it felt like Adelyn was pushing Oliver and not in a good way. Sure they worked things out there, but it was iffy for a while.

I admit it. I read this book because I like stout beer. I'm predictable like that :-). Nice freakin' surprise, people! So many books have the alpha teaching the h. Not this puppy. The H had to take some lessons. Me likey. The writing was really smooth. I'm definitely going to check out out her books in this series. CHEERS!

An enjoyable quick and steamy read. Oliver and Adelyn have crazy hot chemistry! I love how she isn't afraid to say what she wants, especially in the bedroom. Oliver is a sexy Alpha who doesn't fight his feelings...so hot! I can't wait for Porter's story!!

Oliver Thorne and Adelyn Maxwell have lost their faith in relationships; they both were betrayed by people who supposedly loved them, but their actions spoke otherwise, leaving Oliver and Adelyn to pick up the pieces, no longer trusting the opposite sex and vowing to never give love another chance. That is, until Oliver moves into his new house, which just happens to be next door to the fiery redhead – their friendship comes easily…their connection sizzles, but with the dark secrets of their pasts and Adelyn’s desire to be controlled and dominated in the bedroom, it’s unclear if Oliver and Adelyn can be anything other than neighbors.

Oliver “Stout” Thorne is a definite alpha male but due to his violent childhood, it’s hard for him to understand Adelyn’s need of rough sex, but as his feelings for “Max” continue to grow, he realizes that in order to make something work with her, he needs to learn to compromise and realize that what Adelyn is truly asking for is nothing that will physically harm her but will give her the release she craves. Oliver’s issues with giving Adelyn what she wants completely makes sense because of his birth parents’ actions, and Georgia Cates illustrates his dilemma perfectly because readers hear it from his own perspective; it’s not coming second hand through the heroine, and because we were privy to Oliver’s childhood through his sister’s story in the first book, his reaction makes sense.

The past few years of Adelyn Maxwell’s life have been an emotional rollercoaster, but she’s endured and survived because she refuses to play the victim. It’s not completely clear why her sexual tastes include submission, especially since her last relationship turned out like it did, but it’s clear that it’s something she needs. She’s an independent woman who seeks control in all aspects of her life except for in the bedroom, preferring to be owned by her lover, and she wants that man to be Oliver, but they’ll have to overcome quite a few obstacles in order for that to happen.

Stout and Max’s story is one of give and take, submission and dominance, challenge and compromise, healing and forgiveness. There’s not much Oliver wouldn’t do for Adelyn and that idea is clearly shown through all of his actions and also solidifies how protective, caring, and thoughtful he truly is. Stout demonstrates his “alphaness” time and time again in the text, which proves his commitment to compromise and his desire to fulfill Adelyn’s needs, which in turn, makes him part of a relationship that he can trust and give him a woman he’s willing to commit to despite what’s happened in the past.

Two down – One to go – I wonder what Porter has in store for readers? I, for one, can’t wait to find out.

Beth's Review 3.5 STARS

I first fell in love with this series and all three main male characters, Tap, Stout and Porter the moment I picked up the first book Tap. These books can be read as stand-alone but my personal feelings is that you would get more from reading them all and reading them in order as the stories overlap from one book to the next and each book we get to see a bit of the characters and storyline to come in the next book.

Both main characters in this book, Stout and Adelyn have had horrible past relationships that kept them both away from having any type of relationships for the past few years. Stout and Adelyn become new neighbours and become instant friends but quickly realize there is an attraction between them. They soon find though that their past and past relationships will play a big part of their relationship in whether there is a future for their own.

Although I did enjoy Stout and Adelyn’s characters and their story, I didn’t love it as much as Tap and Lawry’s story. I did feel their connection but for me it felt too quick. I would have enjoyed seeing more buildup between these two and had things happening between play out a little bit slower in the beginning so it didn’t feel so insta-love. I must say though when these two did come together it definitely wasn’t the same old same old sex scenes, which was a really nice and refreshing change. And I also must add some of those scenes were truly off the charts hot and sexy.

I really loved how strong, independent and driven Adelyn was. Even after being in a controlling and abusive relationship, she has come out of a situation like that as a survivor and continued to be a strong woman who truly can hold her own when it comes to a man. The one thing I found off though with her character was her need to be controlled sexually. How she acted in a sexual manner towards Stout at times felt completely off and out of character for someone who was raised by Baptist preacher.

I really loved Stout’s character. He was a bit of a man’s man, a bit of an Alpha side to him but he was truly hot and sexy. I also loved how protective he was. The dynamic the author built between these two, although at times felt rushed, was really great. I enjoyed their banter and found myself giggly at times with these two.

Overall it was an enjoyable read and a good storyline. For me it just moved fast in some spots and fell a bit flat in others but over still an great read and I am excited for the next book to get Porter’s forbidden romance story.

I just love the love and care GC takes with her characters. You won't always get them but she lets you see how they see things and even though you still may not see things as they do you can somehow get beyond that. Adelyn was that girl for me. She puzzled me because she comes from an abusive relationship. Her ex was an alpha who was a tyrant primarily because he didn't just want to dominate her but he came out like an narcissistic bully. It finally becomes too much and Adelyn takes back her life. I won't give that part away because it's detailed and helps you to love and admire her.

The part that was hard for me to grasp is she gets this gorgeous new neighbor Oliver, who we all know from book 1. He doesn't have any direction outside work and his sister Wren is trying to give him some of this much needed domestic guidance. Stout (aka Ollie) and Addie hit it off and it isn't long before the two take it to the bedroom. This was my problem to relate to the character. She wants to be dominated, don't get me wrong some control from an alpha is hot. This went a little too far for me to get and felt too abusive. It wasn't that he hurt her and that is clear but the whole choking neck thing I couldn't get.

I just want to say it's not to the point of passing out, it's made very clear I just didn't understand in my personal thoughts. Stout himself struggles with it and that helped the reader to learn as he did which again was hard for me because I think if your alpha you are just naturally that way but as the story went along you developed a better understanding that these characters loved being together so much they wanted to compromise and that I could understand.

I still love Tap and Wren better but it wasn't too far off with these two either once I struggled passed my own feelings. So good job to the author for convincing me it could work. Her father however was totally clueless to his daughters life and his conversations were awkward and funny. I liked Stout and Wren in this too the banter between brother and sister was enjoyable. The gay bar was another funny part. It also gives you clues to Porters story in the next book. Enjoy!

I love Georgia Cates. I truly do. The first book I read by her Beauty from Pain was so unbelievably good. I fell in love with Jack Henry and Laurelyn. They were an amazing couple and their love story is what every love story should strive to become. With that, I now have super high expectations when I read a Georgia Cates book and I don't always get that high again.

While I enjoyed Stout, I had some serious issues with some of the subject matter of the book. I am not all that in to reading about BDSM and while this didn't actually contain that, it did contain the idea of

Anyway, some of that is what took away some of my enjoyment of this book. I'm always looking for what Georgia gave us with the Beauty Series and even to some great extent the Sin series. Perhaps she is best at writing the serial romances. I don't know. This one just didn't work for me as well.

While I enjoyed the book, the things I mention in my spoiler kind of took a bit away from the story for me. I don't find that type of play romantic. That is just my feelings on the matter.
