Commissioned: How God is Changing Lives, Transforming Nations, and Involving You

Rate this book
What is God doing in the world today? Can I be a part of it?

From a sweeping vision of global witness to a barefoot pastor stepping into a never-before-reached jungle village, "Commissioned" is a personal challenge as much as it is a frontline report. Around the world, people are sacrificing, serving, and loving those in need, carrying the gospel to those who have never before heard Jesus' name.

To open this book is to step into a modern-day retelling of Acts, where persecution, idolatry, poverty and hopelessness are met by the overwhelming love of Christ. It's not meant to inspire you, but to invite you...to a different kind of Christian experience... to the sort of mission that demands our best efforts and our most fervent prayers.

Addition to original review:
"What's your reason for being where you are, doing what you do? What's mine? Have we set our hearts on the completion of the Great Commission in our generation? In our city, in our country? Across the planet? With our co-workers, our neighborhood, our own family? With the time God gives us? With the money he entrusts to us? With the remaining years of life we have?" (67)

This book is super short (160 pages) and I read it in half a day.

I'm honestly not ENTIRELY sure how this book came to be in my possession. Or when. It wasn't on Goodreads before today. This book is exactly what the back cover suggests though: an invitation. An invitation to take a step in obedience to the last command that our King gave.
