I enjoyed this volume.

There is a lot to enjoy in this work. You get to see Fran evolve as a character and come into her own powers and abilities. You also get to see more of the world and meet some pretty interesting characters. You also get a glimpse of some of the horrors that are going on behind the scenes which we didn't see before. There is also further expansion on the world's systems and how things work, thus further explaining the more RPG elements of the story.

However, we also see more of the over-powered element that we could see building in the first book. During the climax of the story, despite the author creating some tension, it all gets blasted away by the characters not really winning by their own hand, and that's disappointing. (and very reminiscent of part of the battle against the head orc in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Vol. 2) I would have rather seen them defeat the big bad for this novel using some kind of creativity, thus showing how much both the protagonist and Fran have come as a pair. As it is, it feels empty.

Still, there is a lot to like about this book. There is some repetition to the concept of dungeons, and that does feel a bit boring, but it's to be expected in something that is taking elements from RPGLit. So if you are looking for an interesting isekai, I recommend this series to you as it's not your usual isekai story. (well, parts are, but still...)

The mana system, elements system, dungeon system, skill system, and lots of details that made this work special amd full of enjoyment in exploring more skills with more combination.

A bit of a recycling of the first volume in terms of plot. See dungeon, raid dungeon, defeat boss. I suppose that has a lot to do with the repetitive, linear storytelling of video game RPGs on which this series takes its inspiration. Some threads from the first volume are tied up (maybe), and new ones are introduced along with new allies for Fran and Teacher. As much as I enjoyed Fran the first time through, there was little to distinguish her here other than the introduction of a few more overpowered abilities followed by a dues ex machina conclusion. While I enjoy a good wish fulfillment adventure fantasy story, it seems like the resolutions to the adversity that Fran encounters are very perfunctory and outside of her own wit and action to overcome. She is a very passive hero besides obliterating “trash mobs.” One of the hallmarks of light novels are the illustrations interspersed throughout. The ones we get in this volume do nothing to bring settings and characters to life. They simply show various characters posing or posturing with no context. As I am not the only reader of this series in my house, I will be visiting the next volume. Hopefully, things will improve.

This was better than volume one, but I still ended up skimming sections and I kind of rushed the end to get it over with.

It's the system stuff. If you scrapped all the massive lists of stats and skill descriptions, the pacing would be better. Unfortunately, you'd also make the book half as long. Massive blocks of test doing nothing aside from listing skill names is boring. Sorry. It is.

Also, this book could do with a good proofreader.

Aside from that, the story is less tedious than book one, having action and something to hold your interest all the way through. Though starting with a cooking lesson was less than ideal. Aside from the cooking lesson, stuff happens and fight descriptions were more exciting. The author is improving there.

As I said, better than book one. Also, this should look amazing as an anime... assuming the screenwriter is any good. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this series, but I wouldn't stop anyone reading it either.

Falling in to the usual trappings of isekai reincarnation genre works, this volume basically has Fran "proving" herself to her surroundings by basically being supremely overpowered bordering on disbelief. Despite that, her earnestness and childish, down-to-earth manner does make her a likeable character, especially when it comes to her backstory.

That said, the adventuring parts of the story are decently done if slightly wordy due to the penchant to waste pages on depicting the "status screens", a very common isekai trope. The climax battle in this volume was sufficiently tension-filled, with a surprising twist in the resolution.

While I still wouldn't recommend this work, mostly due to overuse of isekai tropes, casual readers of this genre will find it entertaining enough.

3.8/5 stars. (Also, my paperback copy had 447 pgs instead of 320)
Once again, I was intrigued by the characterization and depth of Fran. She's a twelve-year-old cat girl who doesn't blink at gore and death. She's very perceptive and studies her target, whether on the battlefield or encountering new people. I can see why Teacher is so concerned over her, at the same time his/its antics are a bit over the top.
While I came across the occasional spelling/grammatic issue, and some long-winded info-dumping of skill stats and such, I enjoyed seeing our MCs meet new characters. We, the readers, are starting to learn more and more about Teacher's and Fran's circumstances as sword and master, as well as the world around them. I'm hoping the next volume blows me away.

The story starts where part 1 ended. Fran and Teacher decide to visit an other dungeon after realizing normal quests don't give enough xp. First they need to proof their strength, which is harder than expected. Once done, they start their journey, which ends up life threatening.

The story is carried by the personalities and situations, although there are hints towards an overall plot. The story is like the end of part 1 which imo is a good thing. We get to meet more people and Fran opens up to others.

The deus ex machina at the end feels a bit odd. I am not a big fan of it even though it is an unrepeatable trick and is at least related to the events. The world building and game mechanics also feel a bit inconsistent, especially since they now set out in the bigger world. For example, somebody attacks the king and confronts Fran within days, but yet Fran travels for days through wilderness.

Still, it was an entertaining story. Looking forward to the next part.

A big step up from the first novel. The mechanics of the world and its magic seems more well thought out here, we have a fully functioning relationship (symbiosis?) between Teacher and Fran, and we learn more about the wider world. Also, unlike the first book where Fran survives almost all combat with ease (save the final fight where she got her hands chopped off but Teacher telekinetically re-attached them and healer her almost instantly) the team of Teacher and Fran is challenged by the undead and skeleton knight this time around.

Now that the setup is over, Fran is leaving to explore more of the world and I am looking forward to seeing more of it.

I gave the series a chance after the first Volume, but it doesn't get better, so I'm dropping it.

The writer is just not good. He says it's his first work and it shows. That is the whole problem here. The writing is boring, characters are flat and all enemies are villains so stereotypical, you wonder what kind of interaction the author had with bullies. Or what social interactions he has period.

I may give his future works a try, even if most of the foundation of how the magical world works in this is ripped from other light novels. Perhaps his next spin on them will be better.

Honestly, if it’s one thing I wasn’t expecting from this series, it was depth. I binge read this in one day, and it took about all day.

I still have minor complaints, but for the most part they’re too small for me to be picky over. The story flows well, and while character depth isn’t the author’s immediate strong suit, there was more improvement in this novel then I expected.

I felt like book 1 was a light, entertaining read. This second volume is less light, but not heavy in nature. It grounds the lighthearted nature in good storytelling.

A straight-up sequel of the first book.

Basically, there's a lot of re-used themes from the first book, just with new power levels. The addition of the non-evil necromancer is what makes the entire storyline work out rather than being just a retelling of the original version.

My only regret remains that this is a lightnovel, and not very "meaty". I end up wishing the exact same plot and cast would be redone as a more classic novel. But the book remains worth reading.

After the long grind of the first volume, this one finally packs some nice action, with two big stories about two different dungeon runs that turn dangerous. It remains a grindy read, but we can see more of Fran and the world in this one, so it was more fun to read overall. At this point I just assume everybody is more or less role-playing in a video game and don't try to make it deeper than it is.

The Swordfather returns.

Teacher is an intelligent weapon named by Fran, a little beastgirl person. After stealing some techniques and skills, the pair heads off to make Fran stronger.

Fran and Teacher leave a town and meet a kindly Necromancer named Jean. With his help, Teacher and Fran head off to challenge a dungeon filled with undead monsters.

I'm enjoying the series so far.

Excellent

Amazing and funny new characters who had great depth of character, thrilling battles that leave you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen, and tear jerking moments. A great read.

Good continuation

After the starting story in volume 1, I wasn't sure what to expect in volume 2. But, i can say that it was well worth the read. But. I'm hoping to find out more about Fran in one of the future volumes. So far, we still don't kn ok w much about her.

A good second volume which continues Fran and Teacher's adventures. I do wish that there was something of a long term goal or objective by now, similar to what Arifureta or Konosuba have by their 2nd volumes. But still a fun read and I'll be diving into volume 3 shortly.

The fun continues in volume 2. We get what feels like 2 arcs in this story - Fran proving herself to the haters and Fran goes on an undead adventure. The end opened up more questions w Teacher and his existence. I’m looking forward to more adventures w Teacher and Fran :)

I liked it more than the first novel.
Fran and Teacher getting Jet, Fran her armor, their time with Amanda and the entire second-half with Jean. It's absolutely delicious, just like the Teacher's curry.

Exceptionally well written story. Seldomly does an isekai deal with this level of emotional maturity. It questions our purpose and our meaning. Give credence to the old adage villians are made not born. I adored this series.

A 9hr audio book. Dungeons, spiders, and pushing your leveled limits. This book continues where the last left off. Overall, I dont really love this series but its free and interesting enough that I hope it gets better.

Besides the unnecessary fanservice I still really like this story. It's weird but also fun how the fantasy and the game-ish world intertwines in it.

4.0/5.0 ???????

I don't have much to say about this book. It's not like legitimately good but it's somewhat compelling to read despite the poor grammar, mediocre plot, and being a light novel. It is just mindless. I don't really know how to adequately rate this so I give it what I gave it after finishing it.
