Benny James Mystery Series Box Set

Welcome to Tilley, GeorgiaEx-FBI agent Benny James tries to disappear and retire on a houseboat in this sleepy lake town, but the local police won’t let him spend his days basking in the sun. Murder comes to town and they need his help.

Introducing Benny JamesHe’s cool, calm, and you guessed it – collected. The FBI calls it fired but Benny would rather use the term retired when talking about his former career. He was the best of the best and even though he doesn’t want to admit it, he’d like a shot at redemption.

Meet RedRed was raised deep in the Ozark Mountains by deaf-mute parents away from the world. He’s a young guy who talks like a drunk four-year-old and will steal your heart and have you laughing out loud with his view of the world. Red was only supposed to stick around for the first book, but I had so many emails from people who fell in love with his character that he hangs around for all three.

Amazon Readers Love Benny JamesWith over 500 five star reviews of the series, readers love Benny, Red, and the rest of the quirky cast of characters. Since its original release, Birdsongs has been revised and all the books have been professionally edited and reformatted for an optimal reading experience. I hope you will enjoy the Benny James Mystery Series and have as much fun reading it as I did writing it.

Jason Deas has taught art in elementary schools for over a decade. He likes his job three and a half days a week. He is a songwriter, sculptor, and makes a mean pot of chili. Most of his writing used to take place at Georgia campgrounds, inside a three-man tent or sitting at an uncomfortable concrete picnic table. He wouldn’t have had it any other way until he one day found a 70’s-model camper where he now writes in luxury. Jason has published flash fiction and poems. After writing Birdsongs, a mystery for adults, his nieces asked him to write a book for kids and he granted their wish and wrote Camp Timber View. He had so much fun writing it he is currently putting the finishing touches on another middle grade novel titled The Big Stinky City. He is also working on the sequel to Birdsongs titled, Baptized by Jim.

Jason Deas' writing and storytelling is excellent. His style is light and Red's innocence and the congruity of the other delightful characters hold the series together through all three books. My favorite lines of all in the series are: "There are a lot of crazy people in this world," says Benny. "I think Bendy know most of them," replies Red. I laughed out loud. Other authors, like John Irving (high praise for me to compare Deas to him) and P. F. Ford have an uncanny ability to accept zany behavior from a character and have other characters accept and respond to them as if their behavior were normal. That ability makes for some quite interesting books and we can learn from seeing the world through other perspectives. I loved the series, and want more.

Brilliant

I have been an avid reader for over 50years and I found this series one of the best I have read in years. The characters are well thought out with their own quirks and says of conversing with the main character Benny James.
The other thing I liked about the stories is that you cannot guess "who done it" until the very end.
I am looking forward to reading more from Jason Deas.

Murder with intrigue so that you are begging for more

This one of best series I have ever read.! Be your is such a love able character. This series has a cast of characters that makes for interesting reading. My only complete is that after reading that I longed for more. I really wish the author has more books with Benny, Rachel, and Red. He is by far the most lovable of the them all.

This set of 3 books goes well beyond the normal who-done-it genre with really interesting and well described characters. The protagonist, a retired FBI agent with a stellar record of solving difficult cases but also bending the rules, lives up to his reputation as he interacts with the eclectic people surrounding him as he chases down murderers. The story lines and action grabbed my attention and kept me racing through each book - they will fascinate you too!

Kept me guessing

Although I suspected who the killer was from the beginning, there was enough suspicion placed on others to fully hold on to my choice. Once again Mr. Deas tells a story in such a way that it keeps your interest and you won't want to put the book down. I sure hope I get to read more Benny James mysteries soon.

Another fantastic thriller

My favorite characters continue their life-styles with plenty of humor. As always, a fast-moving tangled plot with incredibly realistic characters start at page one until the end with fantastic, real-life adventures.

Excellent Characters

The first mystery was slow going at first. After I got more familiar with the author’s pacing, I really enjoyed reading these three Benny James mysteries. The plots are complicated, and the characters are intriguing.

Clever writer

Unique characters, unusual plots. A lot of fun. A retired FBI top agent moves to a small Georgia town and quickly becomes the local crime solver, making friends with the unique people who live in every small town.

Three-Book Set Is The Way To Go

The introduction to Benny James was less than auspicious for me, but he grew on me throughout volumes 2 and 3. And i hadn’t figured out whodunit it why, which is always a big plus.

I stopped reading it when it became unbearable. Unrealistic and unresearched. Jumped from place to place without Rhyme or reason. Homicide expert that couldn't stomach the smell of dead birds, how did he handle dead people found in advanced decomposition, what a wimp. That was it for me Goodbye

Great series

Sometimes there is a story that has something special. The mixture of characters and stories makes this one of those. Mixing detective stories with human interest and romance is a winning combination that just can’t be beat.

Good

Very entertaining. One thing that could be better is Red. He's not learning impaired so he should have evolved quickly with better speech and so on. Still he and the other characters make this work. I wouldn't mind reading more of Benny James and friends.

Benny James Mystery Series

Jason put a good series together with this one. The parts were different enough to keep you moving and the characters were awesome. Just enough politics and other forms of entertainment to keep you busy. An enjoyable read.

Just ok

Not what I expected. I'm not into that much realism and theater at the same time. The only good part of the books was Red, the rest was hard to swallow.

Another author who has trouble with the ability to tell a story without crummy and vulgar language. Read at your own risk.
