Thrown out and thrown away.
Lorne Austen—on the very day his alpha’s youngest children were fifteen—was told to pack his bags and leave the only real home he had ever known. Heartbroken and alone he takes shelter from the snowstorm with other stranded travelers, miles away from the family he had always considered his.
Doctor Jonathan Owens has personal reasons for never wanting to mate an omega, but all his good intentions are tested to the limit when he meets Lorne. After spending the night together he is devastated to find Lorne has vanished without a trace.
Soon enough, Lorne discovers the impossible has happened and he is pregnant. But the law says unmated omegas cannot keep the babies they give birth to. Eventually, realizing something is badly wrong with his pregnancy, he goes to the clinic and comes face to face with Jonathan again.
All Lorne has wanted is a family he won’t lose. Jonathan has spent years making sure he never needed one. Faced with the real danger that the babies won’t even survive long enough to be born, can these two find love and the strength they need in each other or will their differences always pull them apart?

Bullets and Babies!

Victoria writes about guys loving other guys in between dodging bullets, kidnappers, and serial killers. She enjoys putting them through hell to get their happy ever after—it’s a character flaw she embraces.

She also believes that family is who you choose, that dogs are often much wiser than human beings, and that we’re steadily destroying the world we live in.

And if people read more books, they'd be much happier.

I just finished a super angsty book and I was in the mood for something fluffy. Well, I chose wrong with this book.

This had my least favorite type of angst. The miscommunication/non-communication/assuming things about the other kind of angst.

Lorne is a 32 year old omega who has been told by his alpha that he can go. Even though he and his alpha never had a romantic relationship, Lorne did help raise the alpha’s children, but now that the children are 15 years old, the alpha and his wife don’t need Lorne anymore.

When Lorne get stuck at an inn during a snowstorm, he meets the handsome alpha Jonathan. Jonathan and Lorne share one hot night together but when Jonathan wakes up the next morning, Lorne is gone.

It’s 3 months later that Jonathan accidentally runs into Lorne again, when Lorne comes into the clinic Jonathan works at because he’s obviously pregnant….

I was really hoping for some sweep Lorne off his feet with kindness and gentleness type of scenes. And while Jonathan was definitely a very sweet and kind alpha, he needed to talk to Lorne, and not assume things.

The same with Lorne, he kept assuming the worst of Jonathan while feeling miserable about it all.

These guys only talk at 95%, so this entire book was filled with insecurity and inner angst. So unnecessary…

This started out pretty strong, so I’m going with 3 stars, but it’s more 2.5.

This would have been a five star read for me if only it didn't go the miscommunication angst route... even with that it still deserves the four stars I gave it. Lorne and Jonathan are wonderful and the author adds quite a bit to the world she is building!

P.S. Lorne and Jonathan are definitely my favor couple of the series even if their book is not m highest rated.

**3.5 Victoria Sue is the queen of ripping your heart out and excels at misunderstandings Stars**

Lorne is a poor omega whose fifteen year contract with his alpha is up. He's pushed out the door to start a new life. A hot night with Jonathan leaves him seeking help at the clinic for an unexpected pregnancy. Jonathan just happens to be his new doctor.

Oh man...I love Victoria Sue's books. And I loved His First Christmas, the first book in this omegaverse. But I found myself annoyed with both Jonathan and Lorne. The miscommunication was so frustrating. I wanted to scream at the both JUST FUCKING TALK ALREADY! Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of sweet and tender moments that I adored. But I felt like there was just so much of the "not talking" that it brought down my enjoyment.

I will definitely read more though. I really want Shay's book, poor guy. I know it's going to be another gut-wrenching read.

My God, this book is super angsty but really well-written and heartwarming. ❤️ I’ll admit, I’m not a big fan of people discovering themselves at older ages and I’m definitely not big on second chance romances. However, if anyone can convince me to read a such book, that’s Victoria Sue. 😌 You have to understand while she’s more well-known for her “Enhanced” series, I discovered her with her ABO books and my god, how gorgeously and beautifully written they are! 😍 So I’m ecstatic when I realize she’s writing these ABO mpreg stories again (non-shifters or shifters). And I really liked the first book in this series although it was quite short and sweet. But let me tell you, I adore this second book, “His First Family”. 😉

Lorne is a castaway omega who had to start his life all over again at the age of 33, which is basically way past expired date for male omega fertility. Alone, scared and in trouble, Lorne met the gorgeous, kind, generous man Jonathan while trying to escape a massive snowstorm. And they shared one passionate night together, Lorne, unbeknownst to Jonathan, gave his virginity to him. Fast forward 6 months, they met with each other face to face again but this time in an ER, Jonathan as obstetrician and Lorne as a patient pregnant with the doctor himself’s babies. Now these two need to make up for the lost time between them and do it fast if they ever hope to have a family with three adorable little babies.

The angst is so damn-well written and bittersweet that I find myself needing to dab my eyes several times while reading this book. 😭 It was romantic, sweet, heartwarming, intriguing and captivating. I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting. Despite most of the background scene being portrayed in a private hospital room, Victoria Sue magically managed to make the romance between Jonathan and Lorne to be super romantic and sweet. I loved it. And the smut, whewwww! 🔥 Mama needed a cold shower if you know what I mean! *wink wink* 😁😉 I can’t wait to get more in this world and I’m hoping to get the story of Nicholas, the lawyer, would come soon. Can’t recommend enough to anyone who loves to be under angst umbrella while reading their romance. 😁

4.5 you don’t choose your family, you make one stars

Well that was absolutely just my cup of tea! I really liked this longer second instalment in the His First series from Victoria Sue.

I like the world she's created, a some time in the future setting with medical advances and genetically altered male omegas who are capable of giving birth.

I admired Lorne, he was so strong and determined to do the best for his babies, but I adored Jonathan, Gabe's doctor friend from book one.

He was everything you'd want an alpha to be, caring, thoughtful, a little bit naive perhaps but understandable given the manipulation of his fellow doctor and former fiancee.

I'm guessing Shay and Nicholas will be the next pair and I'm totally on board with that, and with them finding someone for Cal to love!

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.

I liked this story better than the first one. I'm still not 100 percent sure how things work in this world for omegas, but there is enough information given to understand what went on with Lorne.

There is a bit of angst here and I wasn't thrilled with the absolute lack of communication between the two, but the rest of the relationship was very sweet. I'm glad we were taken through the pregnancy and the aftermath and watch the relationship between Lorne and Jonathan develop along the way. Hopefully we'll get a story about Shay, an omega who appears to be in a horrible situation. This book can be read as a standalone.

His First Family by Victoria Sue
His First series #1. Mpreg, M-M omega romance.
Lorne Austen is forced to leave the only family he’s even known at the end of his omega contract. After taking care of the children since they were born, Lorne expected to be asked to stay with the family, but the parents had other plans. Getting lost in a snowstorm is part of how his life seems to be going but getting rescued by a gorgeous doctor seems a miracle. Not expecting good things, Lorne disappears but soon finds himself pregnant even though he is past the age of normal conception. Lorne desperately wants to keep his unborn child but the laws are clear. An unmated omega cannot keep the babies they give birth to. Unfortunately there is something wrong with the pregnancy and Lorne is forced to see a doctor, where he finds the man that rescued him.

This story is filled with emotions across the board. From heartbreak at the start to hope and warmth, moving to tension and worry and eventually, yes, love and satisfaction. A wonderfully uplifting romance.

Mpreg alpha/omega M/M story.
Omega Lorne, 33, is turned out to the streets after his contract is up. This tale has unusual rules for the Omegaverse. The children of his owner were not going to take care of him anymore, now that the twins were turning 15. He couldn't even say goodbye to the three children he raised. With a ten minute notice, he was in shock, and would never get to see them again.

He traveled to the temporary rental place, but the journey was difficult. He ended up freezing in the snow and taking refuge at a small bar that had rooms.

An Alpha, Dr. Johnathan Owens, stepped up to share his room,

and the two men liked each other, had consensual sex, but Lorne had left early and disappeared. Months later, Lorne seeks a doctor and it is Johnathan.

Lorne is pregnant, with a difficult circumstance, and Johnathan is all on board to help. The surprise is in a high risk pregnancy will be rough,

but Johnathan and his colleges are helping.
Lorne is afraid Johnathan will want the kids and throw him out, or what if he makes him give them up for adoption? Lorne wants his own family, it's something he's always wished for. If he can have these children, he will cherish them and he's always be needed and wanted.

We are given terrific explanations for these different rules and how and why omega males came to be able to have children.

The specialist gives dire choices, so what will Lorne and Johnathan do?
One fellow doctor is a horrible person, and we are glad when they are given justice.

But Johnathan hasn't asked Lorne to sign a contract, and things are moving along quickly.

Deep thoughts, tender moments, sadness and joy, plus an offer he can't refuse.
Enjoy !

Enjoyed this one - and how Lorne finally ended up with someone to love. I wasn't clear on why the "mate" thing when what the omega really did was nanny - seems weird to me to consider it a mating when there is no sex. And it didn't seem that uncommon. I liked Lorne's attitude - a little less of the "woe is me" than many mpreg. There were some kind of stereotypical things happen that I didn't love but, overall, a nice mpreg.

I love this world that Victoria Sue has thought up - it's like our world, but really set in the future, where they decided to have men undergo scientific and genetic changes in order for them to help repopulate the world. Omegas were altered to help birth children - although, that brings its own complications, and omegas are treated horribly. There are also medical explanations for carrying the kids and it all works to keep things grounded and realistic for me as a reader.

This is the second book in the series, following His First Christmas, although this one does stand on its own very well. Lorne is an omega who has been dismissed after his contractual obligations have been fulfilled, the alpha not caring that he's being sent away from his family. He meets Jonathan when they are snowed in together and they share a passionate night together, but Lorne leaves before their relationship can continue. When Jonathan finds him six months later, he's shocked to see that Lorne is pregnant - dangerously so, since he is carrying triplets, which is unheard of.

Jonathan and Lorne really try to make things work despite the gravity of the situation they are now both in. Omegas have few rights, and Lorne is worried he will again be dismissed. Jonathan wants Lorne to have a life of freedom, nothing forced on him, and also doesn't seem to be able to stand up for himself and just say that he wants Lorne. There is some miscommunication (I will admit, their inability to just talk to each other was starting to bug me), an adversary getting in the way, and some drama before Lorne and Jonathan can find their HEA with their sweet babies.

I really hope Victoria Sue continues to write in this 'verse. She introduced some more characters I would love to see stories for!

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Lorne Austen was relieved of his duties as omega and nanny on the day the alpha’s youngest children, twins, turned 15. He wasn’t even allowed to say goodbye—just booted out and sent on his way with his meager belongings. An omega’s life isn’t wonderful in this world and Lorne, though a sweetheart, is now 32 and past his prime, so his only hope is to find another job and make it on his own. Caught in a snowstorm, he’s found by Johnathan Owens, a doctor who is on personal leave after breaking off with his fiancé and taking care of his grandmother.

The two ride out the storm in each other’s arms in bed, but Lorne disappears the next morning. His reasoning is that Johnathan is too sweet and he doesn’t want to possibly become attached. Imagine his surprise when six months later, he arrives at a medical clinic seeking nutrients to help him survive his unexpected pregnancy and he finds Dr. Owens—the father of his babies.

The story of their relationship is somewhat complex, with the monkey wrench primarily thrown at Lorne by Johnathan’s ex-fiancé who is also a doctor. Unmated omegas aren’t allowed to keep their babies in this world and though it seems a simple solution, Johnathan hesitates to contract with Lorne—for other reasons, but of course, Lorne misunderstands. There’s lots of angst here. But there’s more complexity, as well, as the author builds the world of these alphas and omegas—not shifters. It’s the same world as the story of His First Christmas, another warm and fuzzy feelings book I enjoyed by this author.

I needed this story today! It gave me the perfect escape when I decided to focus on something pleasant. The author always grabs me by the feels early in a story and develops characters I can love. I know there are a number of readers who don’t care for mpreg stories but this one was more about the worry a couple faces when it looks like their baby (or babies in this case) may not make it through pregnancy, and the fear faced after the birth when the premie is struggling for survival in the neonatal unit.

Eventually the five of them become a family but it sure is an angsty push and pull along the way. I definitely recommend it to lovers of MM romance with memorable characters.

I don’t know how to categorise this story. As in, it’s clearly set in the future because they kept alluding to some horrible world disaster that culminated in there being men who can get pregnant - i.e. omegas. But it wasn’t a war zone or anything so for me, it mostly felt like an alternate reality kind of thing. But it’s not terribly important.

For the most part, storyline was predictable. You know what’s coming and all. But the world building was different enough to make up for all the predictability. Married couples AND an omega? I didn’t get it for the longest time. I still don’t know if I get it but it was an interesting read.

I do want to be in this universe more though. It’s intriguing enough that I want more. And I think there’ll be more..*cough*Shay*cough* 😜

P/s: So I figured out you needed to read His First Christmas first to fully understand this world.

Another great read from Victoria Sue. This story goes from heart-breaking to heart-warming and back again..... what a ride! My heart hurt for Lorne. This world that the author has built is something else! BUT, thankfully it's Victoria Sue, so you know that tho there may be trials and tribulations, the HEA will be there. It was the getting to the HEA that made my heart pound and kept me turning pages to find out what would happen. Looking forward to more of this Alpha/Omega world!

Quick fun read :)

***3.5 stars***

This was an enjoyable, quick and easy read. Some world development, but not a lot. IMO, it would have been nice to have a bit more world building, like she did in her Kingdom of Askara series. I felt like she might have possibly left this open to be a series with the whole Shay thing up in the air. We will see :) I do hope I’m right though ;)

The concept of a future where male omegas have kids is amazing and usually I like books with mpreg, this had a lot of information and we only got a glimpse of how that future is and how things changed.

Most of the book is spent into a hospital where Lorne is in danger and could lose his kids. I was really into this and wanted Lorne to be happy. Jonathan was a good Alpha and very kind to Lorne and I loved his Nana.

I just didn't like it enough. It felt weird and I like most of Victoria Sue's books. There was angst, the characters just didn't have time to talk at all in this book! And I was happy they got their HEA!

I hope some other characters from this book get theirs too!!

I really didn’t enjoy this story. It was a never ending roller coaster. Every time the story was getting good something, or rather someone, would ruin it. The non communication between the two was rampant and annoying. It would have been nice if the two MCs had had a conversation about things before the 96% mark. Then it was wrapped in a neat and tidy HEA in the last 3%. That’s it? One conversation fixed everything? Quite disappointing.

It was confusing in a lot of places due to the overuse of “he”and “him”. The author would change paragraphs and continue to use the pronoun even though it was referring to a different man. There was also an abundance of errors.

You guys are killing me with my omegas. Shew. I’m loving these stories though, and this series. And after reading book 1 and what happened with Gabe, I was happy as could be to see this was Jonathan’s story. But, of course, he’s a stubborn cuss who needs to learn to use his words. So this, of course, was a story that was harder than it needed to be. But we always can use a little angst. Makes the story that much sweeter.
Lorne was devastated. The babies he had raised from day one are now being taken away from him because of stupid omega rights. Or lack thereof. Once the twins hit fifteen, it was time for him to go. And the alpha and his wife, completely lied about everything. And now all he had was a small suitcase and nothing else to call his own. And now he didn’t even have his suitcase, because he had to walk miles in a snowstorm and it broke. But just when he thought it was bad already, it got worse. There was nowhere for him to sleep, warm up or anything. Until Jonathan heard what was going on. After several nights of comfort and passion, Lorne knew he had to leave. Jonathan tried like crazy to find him but couldn’t. And didn’t expect to see him again until Lorne showed up very pregnant in his clinic, with not one but three babies. Lorne and the babies lives are on the line and Jonathan actually wants to keep him forever. Which for him, is a shock in itself. But everything seems to be conspiring against them, including his ex and the children Lorne raised. And it’s going to be a toss up whether Lorne and Jonathan get a happily ever after or if everything is going to break them apart.
I HATE that omegas have crappy rights. I have always hated that omegas are treated like crap and as weak. You guys know that about me. And when lied to, it makes it that much worse. I wanted to reach through and smack Lorne’s old alpha and his wife. Making him think he was having things one way and completely lying to him and then lying to the kids about the whole situation. We really need a way to throat punch people in books. Just sayin. But what I loved is that everything that Jonathan tried to avoid, he completely wanted in Lorne. I was so sad that he kept flubbing it up and not communicating with Lorne or letting him know everything. I know it was hard because Lorne was already super stressed over the condition of his...their babies. But Lorne still had a right to know. And he had a right to know that he was being manipulated by super witch. I hate her. But that’s what happens when lack of communication is involved.
But Jonathan was on new ground as was Lorne. They were both virgins, so to speak, when it came to certain things. Even with their backgrounds and what they do or did for a living. So, they had a lot to learn. They had a lot they had to cover and ways they needed to grow. As with everything, it takes time. And a lot of patience. But in the end, it’s worth it.

This had a pretty decent start - sad omega vibes, and then an evil alpha-adjacent who attempted to kill her stepson?? WHat!

Anyway, who cares about that. (me!!!! where did this go!!) The story is essentially in a hospital room, for hospital procedures about having ~800 babby at the same time. This is partnered with a complete inability to talk between the MCs, and approximately 8 billion tiny miscommunications/assumptions/brain failures leading to the worlds tiniest and most annoying rollercoaster of angst. This culminates in a Big Failure of Using Words Drama.

in summary, the MCs pretty much never actually talk to each other throughout the book. If you want to read about eternal hospital visits and the NICU, this may be for you. I'm rounding up because I liked the beginning.

Lorne and Jonathan

Oh, I really loved the connection between Lorne and Jonathan. This is a good, white knight kind of story that just ticks off all the buttons. Sweet, broken omega needing a home and mate? Check. Amazing alpha, all protective and caring? Check. Evil-doer to cause problems for them both? Check. Accidental pregnancy? Check, check, check. Mpreg and hurt comfort together are just my favorite tropes ever. Another great story from a favorite author.

I got this story on recommendation from another author. I am a huge fan of this author and this story made me even more of one. Heartbreak, new love, misunderstandings and finally a happy ending made me mad, happy and cry all within a few minutes. I can't wait for the next story in the series.

Absolutely loved it 💜

This was a very emotional rollercoaster of a book. These character's hearts were put through the ringer with pain, fear, and the worst feeling of all, uncertainty. I loved being along for the ride as the persevered and grabbed their HEA with both hands.

I think the best thing Victoria does is write plausible MPreg that makes you feel hugged at the same time. I wanted to howl when i read the dedication - this is obv very personal to her. At risk pregnancy and babies in special care. Very different. I also really liked how Lorne was portrayed. he definitely wasn't a victim. Can we have Shay next please?

One sitting, that was all it took. I am so in love with this series by Victoria Sue. I devoured His First Christmas and it set the world the author built. Again, the A/O universe shows what the world had become when omegas had no say on how to live their lives.

Lorne's contract as a mated omega had come to an end, and he had been forced from the home he had grown to love. Finding himself stranded on the way to his exiled home, he only wanted warmth and comfort until he could breathe again. Then Alpha Doctor Jonathan offered him a helping hand and Loren let his guard down. Starved for love, he took what was offered, then disappeared to avoid getting hurt once again.

Jonathan never thought he would see the omega again, so imagine his surprise when a consult revealed his omega...His very PREGNANT omega. Loren was a phenomenon. With a scary pregnancy, Jonathan had his hands full with keeping Loren and his babies safe, caring for his grandmother and keeping a spiteful ex from ruining it all. But with Loren's low self esteem, and his ability to jump to conclusions, Jonathan was really going to have to play his cards right.

A really sweet romance with just enough angst.

The first book in this series was a very sweet Christmas story and I loved it very much. Now we have His First Family (you don't need to read book 1 first) and it is just as sweet with a bit of angst and a nice amount of heat.

In this series females can give birth and there are also male omegas who can give birth. However, omegas are generally treated as second class citizens and sometime are more like indentured nannies/slaves who care for children birthed by females. I cried sad tears for Lorne when he was ejected from the home where he had lived for over 20 years, caring for his alpha's children; he wasn't even allowed to say goodbye.

The blurb for the book gives the details of the story so please take a look at it. After a great one-night stand Lorne never expects to see Jonathan again. When they do meet and Jonathan learns that Lorne is having his babies things he said to Lorne the one night they were together come back to bite him. A series of misunderstandings, and Jonathan's witchy ex-girlfriend, cause a lot of friction between Lorne and Jonathan. Both of them need to learn to trust the other but that is easier said than done.

This was really just a very wonderful story and the author's dedication was very moving. Use the "Look inside" feature to read it.

His First Family by author Victoria Sue is a fun fast-paced read I truly loved. This is a Mpregnacy romance, but it is done in a realistic way that made me really believe in this story.
Lorne, when we meet him, is being kicked out by his old Alpha. He is losing three beautiful children he did not the father, but he raised. I was so sad the kids never got to say goodbye to him. He is kicked out with almost nothing. I so hope that old alpha gets his comeuppance he soo needs Karma to visit.
Lorne though gets to meet another alpha one more deserving of the sweet lovely omega that Lorne is. He is loyal, kind, caring, and very sweet.
Jonathan is not your typical alpha. He is kind, sweet, and does not abuse his power. He is more than kind and loving. He does make mistakes, but he is more than willing to own up to them and help correct them.
I loved how this story is handled. Feels very real and emotionally driven. I liked the characters and the entire arc of this story. I liked the twists and turns of this story as well.
When you want an Alpha Omega pairing you can fall in love with, I highly suggest reading this book. The ending is adorable, and the characters are perfect to fall in love with.

One of the best mpreg stories I've read.

Victoria Sue has, as usual, written a story full of drama, angsty moments and serious feels!
Lorne is a sweet oppressed character who finds himself pregnant and determine to keep it a secret. Jonathan is the doctor at the clinic where Lorne ends up. He's also the babies father.
These two bounce back and forth between one emergency or drama after another but it's done in the best possible way. I never once felt like the dramas and disasters they had to deal with were over the top or unbelievable. But I was anxious a time or two as these guys wove their way through all the landmines while trying to get to know and trust each other. A great story that touches on some tender and sensitive subjects (because premature babies are VERY fragile and things can happen). I highly recommend this one and hope to get to read about some of the wonderful secondary characters too!

OMG the one thing that drives me absolutely crazy is lack of communication!!! I wanted to smack the crap out of both of them. But other than that, it was a sweet story of an Omega, Lorne, who is bascially dumped when his mating contract is up & kicked out of the only home he has know for most of his adult life. He meets, and hooks up with, Jonathan and surprise he is not past his fertility date. See at a certain age, alpha's are no longer able to get pregnant. Lorne leaves without getting any information on Jonathan and vise versa. Jonathan works at the omega clinic and runs into Lorne when he comes in for treatment and surprise, not only is Lorne pregnant but his pregnant with triplets. What we then have is a mess of miss-communication & non-communication and I wanted to scream at them. But in the end, it all works out & they finally come together as a family.
