When Evie Parr's sister mysteriously disappears right before her eyes, Evie is left with a haunting image seared into her mind. Years later, on her return to the site of Iris's disappearance, Evie is pulled through the fabric of reality and into another world. Thrust into a ravaged place where genetic modifications have led to a breakdown of society, Evie starts out on a desperate bid to find her sister. Now she must use every ounce of her guile and magical healing abilities to traverse an alien and brutal land where she is plagued by chaos and impossible choices at every turn. But on her quest to find Iris and make her way back home, she begins to understand that something sinister is threatening both worlds.
